Zayana found herself at the annual celebration for lost and fallen sisters. She didn't plan to be in Chibale when it happened, but it looked like the stars aligned and deemed them needing to be there. She was glad her daughter could witness such a thing, and she too was able to watch such an ancient ceremony where it all began...at the roots of Aisha.

The young blade still couldn't believe she was here, on Chibale, where everything she knew had begun. This was the source, the beginning, the history that she saw right before her eyes. All of the Aishan ways came from this tree, from these blooms, and these seeds.
And here she was, a young Elidae, humbled by the sight of the great tree that seemed to fill the sky, her roots feeding the ground.
Gosh, it was all amazing, and humbling, and was such an honor. She was so proud and excited to be here, and that was before she got the chance to meet and train with the sisters of this isle.

As they moved with the sisters toward the waters, Zayana made sure her daughter was nearby. She looked down toward her for a moment, noticing that she was looking around in wonder still a few days after they had settled in.
"You ok?" She asked lowly, trying to blend in with most of the Alkidikes around them.

She too kept close to her mother, though still she appreciated the sights even with this solemn occasion. Looking up at her mother and leaning toward her, she nodded.
"Yeah, still can't believe I'm here...and that I get to witness this event and honor the sisters here."

Nodding at the response, Zayana smiled softly.
"I'm really glad you asked me to come here with you. This was a great idea."
She bumped her daughter's shoulder with her own, before turning stern in a teasing manner, "Now we need to focus, this is an important ceremony. Your grandmothers would be mortified to see you distracted."

Oh gosh, Grandmother Lumikani would be so angry with her, and even Grandmother Zandala would be stern and make sure she paid attention. Both were very proud Alkidikes, and maybe that was why they didn't come. Even if they claimed it was because they were 'retired'.
She missed them, and her cousins, but knew this was right. Stepping on the isle told her this was right. She couldn't wait to go back and tell the others all she saw.
Focusing now on the task at hand, she noticed they were nearing the waters where the small boats were set up, symbolism for the lost sisters of generations past. She was glad there were no recent deaths, as that might have made it that much harder.

Silence filled the space as the large mass of sisters approached. It was amazing how many Alkidikes were here compared to Zinris and Kiros. The mass population was almost suffocating, and Zayana wondered if this is what their settlements would look like in a few generations. She hoped so.
The boats were released, their fires glowing in the fading sunlight. Some sisters chanted a prayer, others bowed their heads, and slowly most began to return home. Somber silence filled the air, along with the sound of a soft breeze in the trees.

The energy of the crowd, even with such as solemn occasion, was overwhelming for the 'small town Elidae', and Nayyara was glad they were near the back. She listened to the proceedings the best she could, amazed at the Mystics who were so old, strong, and seasoned, before bowing her head and closing her eyes to listen to the chanting and the wind.
Other sisters began to pass them, and Nayyara finally sent her little prayer to Aisha and her own great mother before turning to her true mother with a small smile.
"Guess we head back?"

She nodded toward her daughter's question, took her hand, and began to walk back. The walk was slow, quiet, and they were heading into a settlement near Aisha where they had a room to themselves. It was an inn of sorts, a place for visiting sisters seeking out a blessing from the tree or to train. It was nice, and she was glad to have the place to rest.
"I doubt there will be much to do, so let's grab some food and rest."

"Food sounds good." She replied simply, squeezing her mother's hand.
She took the walk back comparing the ceremony here to the rare one she saw on Kiros. With her isle being so young, they didn't do such big formal events. Though she noticed the elders sneaking off to practice things that were meaningful to them. Maybe she'd ask if they could start doing things like the other sisterhoods now that they themselves were bigger.

As they arrived back in the main settlement, where a mass of sisters were lingering and speaking in soft tones, Zayana went to where the food was and grabbed a meal that they could take with them. It was a simple meat on a stick, and it worked for them. She nodded to the sister who had tended to the meal, thanking them and moving back to where they were resting.
She made sure to hand the meal to her daughter.

Nayyara ate her meal on the walk back, licking her fingers from the juices as they made way inside and prepared for bed. The settlement began to quiet into a dull hum, and before long she'd be left with the silence of the breeze pushing through the trees.
"Momma, do you think we might start having more ceremonies like this in Kiros?" She asked as she began to settle into bed, turning toward her mother.

The question made the elder woman pause, before she turned to look at her daughter in the darkness. The wind was cool, and the sounds soft outside, so she heard her daughter clearly.
"I imagine we'll do more of these and establish some of our own..." She replied slowly, "Isn't that why you wanted to come here, to learn more about the other sisterhoods?"

She soaked it in and she leaned down and fully slunk into the bed. After a long period of silence, she sniffed as she finally spoke up.
"I'd like that. I want our sisterhoods to be similar...I hope one day we'll not be so separated by where we bloomed...one single sisterhood."
It was a dream she hadn't spoken up to her mother about yet, but knew she could. Smiling, she wished her mother a goodnight and settled in to be lulled to sleep by Aisha's gentle song.
