Zyphire was thankful to know that family had offered to keep Ziya for the day so that he could go shopping in Zidel with Sylvirah. However, the actual details of their excursion was kept a secret between the Shifter and his lover. A bet had been made and Zyphire had lost or rather won in his own way considering the outcome of that afternoon and the fun he was going to be having at a dinner party tonight. "Do you think blue or violet matches my eyes? Or should we consider colors more based on how my skin will look closer to nightfall?" Zyphire mused as he waltzed around the center of the shopping district, the great stone monument of a raptor and its rider staring him down as if they could foretell the chaos the Shifter was about to inflict upon others tonight. Thankfully it was a warmer day so Zyphire could actually get away with walking about in simple leathers with only a fur cloak hanging about his shoulders, a pleasant outcome for the many times he would surely be changing clothes this afternoon.
After months spent with the Ild'vann had given Zyphire a bit more of a rugged look, but he had taken the morning to clean up a bit more than usual. He did keep some braids with the traditional wooden beads gifted to him and a few feathers in his hair, but overall he had taken the time to lather himself in scented soaps and to comb out the usual tangles that he sometimes let go during the crazier days at the village. If anything he was beaming now with delight as he spun around to study the shops. "You know I've never actually been in the higher districts like this...mostly I'm here for supplies, not luxuries." He admitted as he waited for Sylvirah to catch up to him, his excitement almost akin to an energetic raptrix pup.

Now that it was actually happening Sylvirah wasn't sure what to think. Dress shopping had only been a concept she'd been aware of since coming to Zidel as most of the Ild'vann wore similar clothing regardless of gender. Here, though, there was a noticeable divide. Proper ladies glided across the well worn pavement in fabric as pure as the sky itself and their beaus had cloaks crafted from the finest of furs. For a while she'd tried to blend in with them; to have her hair styled just so and to wear dresses that fit her frame. Now? They were lucky she'd worn clean pants.
"Violet would be more striking, I think." Spirits, had he even really lost at all? Zyphire was way too giddy for tonight and she could only hope Ergon's heart could survive. "I would focus more on what you'll look like tonight. You'll only have a few hours of daylight at most to work with before the sun sets." After all, they wanted to make the most out of it, right?
In all honesty Sylvirah hadn't really taken the time to notice his changes until now. He'd truly taken to the Ild'vann like they were his own people. If not for the obvious physical differences his hair, his clothing, the way he carried himself; he could have lived on the mountain his entire life.
"Ergon's mother brought me here a few times to shop. There's a dress shop, near the west that won't ask too many questions." She answered with a little bit of a laugh. The shop keep was a delightful woman that had kept her inquiries strictly to the business at hand which was a blessing considering the gossip that still seemed to follow Sylvirah.
"Just try to pick something you can actually walk in."

"Violet?" Zyphire pursed his lips before tapping his fingers thoughtfully against his chin. "Maybe. I would have suggested white since that works well on me too, but then I worried I would look too much like a blushing bride." Then again maybe that was what they needed? He could ask for a little flush or he'd look like a ghost at that point. The very thought brought a chuckle to his lips. As if his shifting skin wasn't enough to already unnerve that arrogant iceling of a brother...Zyphire shook his head. "As much as I would enjoy the idea of you carrying me across the threshold I don't think it would do for a dinner party." Violet would definitely have to do, unless of course there was some other dress that truly caught their attention at one of these shops.
"Mmm. I would love to see a fancy lady pass out on the floor from shock, but perhaps someone that's more open minded would be best." Admitted Zyphire with a laugh of his own. Truly he was perhaps a bit giddy about this bet but it was simply because he had no issues dressing up in finery, especially if it made someone else flustered. Zyphire raised his chin with almost disdain at Sylvirah's suggestion, his copy of some proud noblewoman almost comical as he waltzed past the iceling. "I doubt there is much that I cannot walk in." He protested before pausing and glancing over his shoulder towards Sylvirah, his playful mimicry making his gaze gleam even though he did his best to keep a straight face. "Lead the way, madam. I shall find the finest that coin can purchase and perhaps something that truly shows off my curves."

You're the one who suggested violet in the first place. Sylvirah should have known better than to give him this much freedom. If Zyphire was going to do anything he was going to do it on his terms and to the fullest. "Do shifter brides wear white?" She certainly hadn't worn it to her wedding, but then again, imagining him in the same garb she'd worn that day was a sight.
"You're not doing it right." Sylvirah rolled her eyes with a smirk. After rolling her shoulders, the iceling walked with more purpose. "As you walk, your knees should cross over each other, and the moving foot should brush lightly against the heel of the other foot, to make sure your feet are perfectly aligned. Your movement in general should be smooth and not jerky. Slow, precise movement shows confidence and calmness." How many days had she been traipsed around like a 'real' lady before finally getting out of the city entirely? Spirits it's so much easier to walk without heeled boots.
"You'll need something that draws the eye to your waist otherwise the attention will go straight to your shoulders." After all, there really wasn't a good way to hide the fact he was a muscular man.
When she saw the familiar street, Sylvirah led the way and was pleased to see the shop was still open.

Zyphire raised a curious brow at Sylvirah's sudden supply of knowledge but decided to just lightly comment on it instead of asking questions. "Look at you knowing how to walk like a fine lady." He smiled at her before trying to copy the suggestions, his gait somewhat smoother even though he was still most definitely exaggerating everything he did. The Shifter patted towards his waist thoughtfully before glancing back at Sylvirah.
"What do you suggest? Some sort of fur or sash maybe? I would like something to keep at least one dagger tucked away in...just in case." Not that he planned on stabbing any of Sylvirah's family, but rather well...honestly you just never knew. As a swordsman Zyphire simply felt naked without at least one type of blade on his body. Still, his thoughts drifted from blades and towards surprise when he saw the array of dresses already greeting them at this shop. "Where do we even begin?" He asked as he paused in the doorway, his gaze darting across the display window.

It was one of many things she'd really rather forget from her time spent in the capital. While she sort of understood the importance of social graces in a place like this she just couldn't wrap her mind around why it had to be that way. If there were so many people here then why were some wealthier than others? Why did some have jewels and others froze to death in the street?
"Oh, no corset?" She snorted. Why not go as bold as possible? Spirits, now that she'd said it he might. "I did see a woman once with a band around her thigh to hide a small knife under her dress. Maybe you could do that?" Depending on the style of dress it might be possible, but that would all depend on what he picked.
"Do you want to find someone to help?" She looked around the space to find a shopkeep. "Or we can search on our own."

Zyphire chuckled. "As long as you don't break my ribs with one, I suppose." The Shfiter gave a slight shrug as he followed Sylvirah through the shop. She had won the bet after all so it was only fair that she got a majority of the say in his attire. Mostly Zyphire was just enjoying himself, his gaze darting about the fancier mannequins and racks of dresses with interest. "That could work if they have one that stretches enough." He gestured towards his thigh, "Maybe one of leather that has buckles to keep it secured." He thought about some of the traditional weddings he had witnessed in the past and a chuckle left his lips. Maybe he could try to convince Sylvirah about how some women had their partners remove that band?
"I say search on our own until we get noticed." He replied playfully. "It may turn into more fun that way." The Shifter's fingers trailed over a rack until he picked up a sheer dress, "Probably too much, right?" Zyphire teased as he held it out as if considering the measurements.

Sylvirah's fingertips glided over a rack of dresses in various shades of indigo. Several had plunging necklines that would only emphasis his masculinity, and one was garish enough to have as much gold thread as possible embroidered into it. She passively lifted it to view, her lip curling with distaste. What sort of poor woman would ever want this?
Replacing it on the rack, the iceling look over to see his selection and felt her cheeks flush. "Definitely too much for Ergon, but...maybe not for me." She didn't want to be barred from returning to her half-brother's home ever again so as fun as it would be she knew there was a line. What they could get by with at home, though? Well, that was a separate story.
"I never understood why they're so expensive. There's barely any cloth here."

"Oh." Zyphire wiggled his brows playfully as he tucked the sheer dress across his arm to continue carrying it through the shop. "I'll keep this one for a rainy day then." He teased before glancing across at more rows of dresses, the velvet material of some making him instantly let go while the soft silks and furs kept his attention. "It's a good question. Maybe some of the uppers have some mindset that as long as they spend good coin somehow it still makes them better than the rest even when they are basically running around in nothing." The Shifter gave a slight shrug of his shoulders before noting another rather risque dress with straps. "I personally would pay a lot of coin to see someone in that one." He mentioned almost casually though his gaze lingered on Sylvirah while he spoke. If no one was going to catch them perhaps he could suggest a game in the changing room later. Not that he even cared to get caught though it would probably ruin their chances of getting a new dress at this particular shop.
"That violet dress with a collar makes me look like some stiff's mother-in-law while the other one is a bit too narrow in the shoulders." He noted quietly after another long moment of studying Sylvirah as obviously the other dress was on his mind, his imagination doing wonders while he compared the two. "Still, maybe I should just do one of those with the fur across the top so it hides some of my strong arms."

"Oh, only if it rains?" Sylvirah asked coyly. She ran her fingers along the rack, pausing just a moment to look at him. If she was aware of the way the shopkeep was looking at them with a raised brow Sylvirah didn't seem to care.
The iceling turned to curiously look at the aforementioned dress. It was certainly a lot less than what she'd ever imagined herself in, but.... Stepping closer, she lifted the nearly non-existent fabric and held it against her skin. "We could always make a night of it." A mulled cider, perhaps some southern wine, and a locked door...
...or just a roll in the snow outback.
"I think that would work nicely. Maybe something with a flared waist as well; I've been told it helps to give an illusion of womanly figure."

A grin crossed Zyphire's lips at the question. "Yes because I can have other things planned for different weather." He teasingly replied with a long glance over the iceling, his gaze lingering on some of his favorite spots to kiss. They definitely would have to find a closet or room before the end of the day if he had his way and then some more time alone tonight. Sylvirah had wanted a larger family so maybe it was time to try for more? That idea was really tempting, especially when he kept seeing so many things near Sylvirah which got his imagination going.
Zyphire let out an approving whistle as Sylvirah held up the dress. Perhaps he had some ulterior motives other than finding the perfect dress to traumatize her brother with and he definitely would not say no to purchasing some extra outfits for their own personal use. "A night or few, or maybe a weekly thing." He offered as he walked closer to his lover and slowly brushed past her shoulder so that he could reach for some ribbons. "I think these would go nicely as accents, makes things easier to untie rather than ripping them all the time." Even though that admittedly was fun there were other ways to approach things and Zyphire was eager to try them all with Sylvirah.
"Then let's find a fur dress, enjoy this afternoon together and then get this dinner over with so that I can enjoy even more time with you." He chuckled before reaching over and pulling down another dress from the rack with white fur along the edges. That would do nicely with the deep indigo material perhaps?

Maybe there was some merit to these dresses. Initially she'd thought them to be near useless, but if it could bring a rise to Zyphire then she was definitely interested. She could see the way his eyes lingered on her and could only imagine what was going on inside of his head. The iceling had learned a lot over the course of their relationship - which was why they already had two children - and if she had her way they would have so many more.
She felt a child run down her spine at his touch and where there had been an electric shock now was a trail of warmth. "I prefer leather cords; they're much sturdier and don't break as easy when you tug on them. Ribbons are pretty, but we both know they won't last."
Now she was fully capable of seeing the shop keep "working on her log book", or rather, peeping over it to spy on them. Instead of being ashamed of their behavior she reached over to Zyphire's side and trailed her fingers along his sides a second before 'adjusting his clothing'.

"You're in danger if you keep talkin' like that." Teased Zyphire with a grin as he decided to keep the indigo dress and drape it over his arm. The Shifter's skin tingled at his lover's touch and he couldn't help but to press closer towards Sylvirah, his free arm loosely wrapping around her waist as he stole a few kisses along her neck and up her cheek before a soft cough caught his attention. Ah, yes. They weren't alone were they? Unfortunate. Mused Zyphire with a slight sigh as his lips lingered around Sylvirah's neck for a moment longer before he finally pulled back. He would finish this game later he supposed.
"I suppose I would appreciate a dressing room. Are you ready?" Asked Zyphire as he glanced over Sylvirah. "Need to try on anything yourself or is it just for me today?"

"When have I ever played it safe?" She murmured, her words draping off on a pleased 'hmm' at his kisses. When her eyes trailed back to the shop keep it was fairly obvious they wouldn't be able to continue their game out in public for much longer, but that didn't mean Sylvirah would forget any of this.
Holding onto the nearly sheer gown, the iceling nodded with a grin. "Might as well make sure it fits, right?" She raised her hand to get the shopkeeps attention, though it was mostly unneeded. They were being watched like two yearling roati anyway. "Where can we try these on?"
"....In the back. Just this way." They were seemingly hesitant to take them to the more secluded area, but business was business and they led the way regardless.

A soft chuckle escaped Zyphire's lips as they were taken towards the more secluded area. He couldn't completely blame them for keeping a wary eye out but at the same time the Shifter was very much in the mood to continue this game that he had started with Sylvirah. "Thank you." He waved a hand slightly as he saw the curtain closing behind the girl even though it was fairly obvious that she was standing right there in the hallway. Maybe he should have asked her if she'd like to watch? As amusing as that girl's potential reaction was Zyphire wasn't quite certain how well others would take to it.
"Do we use separate areas or should we help each other with all of this complicated pieces?" Teased Zyphire as he held up his arm towards Sylvirah, the few dresses and other pieces he had picked up along the way hanging there.
