It had been… some time, since Lepus’ fateful encounter with Sailor Athalia. Like, maybe a year, year and a half, tops? Lepus was bad at keeping track of time on occasion. She did remember telling the old geezer that they’d meet again, maybe said something about ‘the fated hour’, or that their encounter was ‘determined by fate’... words along those lines, anyway, before she had hightailed it out of there. Since then, they might have crossed paths, like, in that haunted forest last year or something, but Lepus wasn’t really sure, given that she was stuck with babysitting duties for a good chunk of it… not that it would have been the right time, anyway. She had to get stronger! Or, well, it wasn’t really a matter of getting stronger, as much as Lepus wanted to make sure he wouldn’t ‘cheat’ again, even though she had technically been the one to cheat with her magic …

Well, that was all in the past, anyway. That was the old her, this was the new her! Or something like that. ’New year, new me!’, as the saying went, after all.

It was the last couple weeks of summer vacation; Lepus would be soon starting her senior year at Crystal Academy, which … Well, her overall opinion hadn’t changed in regards to the school, but it was just one more year, and she had (unwittingly) gained a cohort in one of her classmates, Cinta, as well, so it wasn’t all -that- bad? She had a part-time job now, as well, so there was definitely more freedom than she previously had, sort of. Kind of.

Well, it was a work in progress.

On this particular warm summer night, Lepus was out and about, not really up to much in particular, save for maybe looking for trouble to get herself into, as was the norm. Of course, if questioned, she’d always insist she was doing nothing of the sorts, and that she was simply keeping an eye out for any foul fiends or dastardly villains that threatened to disturb the peace. It was a fancy way of saying she was getting herself into trouble, but without actually saying it, and most senshi and knights she encountered never questioned her on it, when she did encounter anyone, that was. Gosh, she really should try more to get Aomori or Fringilla to go out with her more …

Things, unfortunately, were quiet for now, and Lepus was getting incredibly bored with having nothing productive to do at the moment. Gee, if only Athalia was around- she really wanted to kick his butt once more, now that she was eternal. “What’s that old geezer up to these days, anyway?” she pondered aloud.

A valid question for anyone to ask - where had the otherwise problematic senshi been for so long? He had been suspiciously quiet over the last several months, occasionally popping up to be inconvenient to unsuspecting Negaverse agents, but if one were to monitor his activities as the weeks progressed they had seemingly fallen off a cliff. It wasn't even that life had become busier for him, his circumstances on earth hadn't changed in any capacity and yet...

He'd definitely been less 'annoying' as of late.

The truth of the matter was that the wayward senshi had been elsewhere. Spending a week or more at a time away from earth in order to explore and potentially unveil the mysteries of his own planet. Weeks passed, then months, and the entire planet had begun to transform before his very eyes with once dead regions sprouting to life. There was something to be said for 'progress'.

Until that progress had stopped and seemingly gone backwards, resulting in the man spending even more time away from home in order to isolate the root cause. As of yet he hadn't found the driving force behind the destruction and unfortunately he simply didn't have the capacity to stay forever, so he was back home. With no further vacation time built up and bills to pay, he was back to the day to day grind that most normal people were all too familiar with.

...And that 'grind' also came with regular nightly patrols again.

Convenient for Lepus as that meant that on this otherwise boring night, the pulse of his powered form would at least reveal someone from the Order was nearby. Admittedly he didn't seem to be moving in any specific direction at the moment, but that was most likely because the man was otherwise absorbed in assessing the condition of the bugs that had been planted throughout the city to benefit him when he did intend to be an inconvenience to the Negaverse!

At least he wouldn't be hard to find, right?

Lepus was nearly just about to start dozing off out of sheer boredom, but the sudden presence of another Order-aligned individual jolted her awake. Awesome, someone to entertain her! Well, perhaps 'awesome' wasn't the right choice of words, but Lepus was delighted to find that her night wouldn't be such a bust after all.

Of course, this was provided that she wasn't dismissed outright, without even being given the time of the day; although she was an eternal senshi now and a senior in high school, Lepus was still five-foot nothing, with a babyface that made her look younger than seventeen. Even though she was no longer a chibi senshi, there was the occasional senshi or knight that would tell her to stop playing around and go home. Rude! She'd been a senshi longer than they had, probably!

(At least, Lepus was certain it had to do with her looks and not because of the persona she presented herself with or anything. Nope, it totally was just because she didn't look that old.)

As Lepus honed in on the source of the aura, though, she stopped in her tracks once she realized who it was that was roaming around on this summer night. It was the old geezer, in the flesh! And here she had just been pondering what he was up to. How convenient! Obviously, she should have just added him as a contact way back when, so she could just call him up when she wanted a rematch, but that ruined the suspense, or something.

"It's you! Old man!" she exclaimed, not at all stopping to recall if she had ever learned his name, "My arch nemesis."

(Okay, that wasn't true, but she liked the sound of it. Made things more dramatic, shook things up a little.)

Huh, now there was a voice he hadn't heard in quite some time and it wasn't one that was unwelcome. The ever rambunctious and very opinionated 'chibi'. When they'd first met he'd been rather alarmed by her age, but now that he had grown accustomed to it he was more impressed by the fact that he could detect an increase in power. She'd gotten better while he was away if that aura of her's was anything to go by.

...Ah, but that 'arch nemesis' title, apparently he had been promoted too.

Was it therefore rude if he didn't at least provide her with a slightly more dramatic reply than he would normally give? He wasn't normally one for theatrics but when it came to Lepus he was under the impression that they were expected. She was the hero of this world and for this brief instant he was the villain.

"Who are you calling old, kid?" he challenged, tugging the little bug that was chained to his wrist off. Not that it did anything, it was just a piece of inanimate jewellery but when in Rome...

"Aren't you suppose to be at home?" He narrowed his eyes and twirled the beetle on the top of his fingertip. "Little kids out after curfew need to be taken home, those are the rules, you should know this by now..."

A thoughtful look at what was in his hand.

"I guess I have no choice but to enforce the law, huh?" He pondered before abruptly tossing the jewel towards her with a 'pretend' cast of magic.

"Herculean Stomp!"

Not that it would do anything, it was just jewellery, but it might make a tiny bit of a dent if she didn't at least catch it!

For a moment, Lepus felt a surge of excitement, thrilled to have someone rise to the challenge and match her in theatrics, something she'd always wanted ever since she started all that hard work on carefully crafting the 'defender of justice' persona she put on today as a senshi. Of course, her excitement was short-lived once he called her a 'kid', which would continue to always rub her the wrong way, even if she called him an 'old man', and Lepus broke character, stomping a foot on the ground irritably.

"Who are you calling a kid!? I'm seventeen!" she retorted, very clearly offended. She was seventeen, which was almost eighteen, which was... well, she'd decide when the time came what that meant, other than freedom.

But there wasn't any time to think much on it, as Athalia seemed to be casting something, and tossed something at her, causing the teen senshi of rabbits to fumble and catch it, caught completely off guard. Bewildered, she stood there, the bug jewel in her hands, waiting for it to explode in her face... do some cool light trick... something? When it failed to do anything of the sorts, Lepus began to realize... she'd been duped.

"Hey, that's not cool, trying to cheat again," Lepus called out, clearly unamused. It was impossible to out trick the trickster, she'd show him! "Meddlesome Rabbits!"

Maybe it was too soon to pull out the big guns already, but Lepus was never one for thinking rationally. She would distract him with the decoy... and then launch a sneak attack, hopefully.

Quote:
Eternal Sailor Attack: Meddlesome Rabbits

With the power of magical ventriloquism (sort of) to make it seem like she is where she's not, Lepus tricks a single opponent into looking behind them, where she has created a decoy Lepus, tricking them into attacking the fake. After a few hits, or after thirty seconds have passed (if not attacked), the fake Lepus 'dissolves' into a bunch of bunnies, who swarm her target before disappearing, leaving her opponents temporarily too confused to take any action, while the real Lepus delivers a sneak attack from behind in the meantime. This can only be used once.

You know eventually he'd get used to being around the younger generation again and he would work out that if he wanted to play along he needed a couple of toys. Throwing random parts of his outfit at them wasn't really going to do anything unless it exploded with confetti or something. He'd discuss this with one of the Mauvians at a later date, yes it wasn't something practical in the fight against the Negaverse but that didn't mean it wasn't useful for inspiring morale where it was needed most. He could look in to developing other things that were more appropriate for war later, but entertaining the more innocent and young of his own kind was something he was willing to explore first.

...Especially if it kept them safe.

Alas Lepus had already worked out that she had been tricked and had declared with great gusto that he was not cool; oof, that wounded him a little bit. However he wasn't given much time to ready himself because she had already casted one of her spells. Actually it was a brand new one that he hadn't seen before; it was almost as if she had 'teleported' behind him. Unsurprisingly he fell for it, turning round to inspect where she had gone, only to find that he was suddenly overwhelmed with rabbits.

"What the..." He would have sworn, but by the time he had gotten through the first two words a certain Eternal had already delivered a blow. Credit where it was due that little magic spell was effective, but how many times could she use it?

"Heh," he smirked, even if he had staggered forward at the unexpected blow.

"Not bad kid," he added and flicked his gaze back over his shoulder to eye her. "But I bet you can't do that again, can you?" he teased. For all he knew she could do it again but if she could, he could at least school himself to ignore it a first time.

He did at least have an opening though as she was close enough to him at the moment, so he spun himself round and made a dive towards her - if he could grab her then he would likely toss her into the air and away from him. It wasn't a very big attack, he knew better than to do that as when he did strike normally it was meant to hurt and to be entirely honest, he would have preferred not to harm her. Play fighting, sparring, whatever one wanted to call it, was never designed to maim!
