Variel rolled her eyes at the hustle and bustle of the Jauharan market. She was cranky and tired but her stomach was gnawing at her backbone. she followed her nose to a stall that had good food. The trup here had been long and arduous, she needed a hot bath and a nap, also it was muggy here and she had yet to grow the gills required to breath in a rainforest. How did anyone even function in this place?

Usually she really liked travel but the amount of biting insects here was impressive. Jauhar would definitely not be where she wanted to settle down. She was only here because her father required supplies. She drifted to likely looking stalls looking for the rare culinary goods that her father needed for his big fancy dinner. She found a few of the things she needed; paid for them and then moved on to the next likely looking section of market. Despite herself she was starting to have fun.

She felt a strange tug and wondered with horror if her pants had ripped, she knew she should have worn a dress, at least that fave her decent leg movement. Maybe she had put on too much musle. She sighed and stuffed her hands in her pockets, repeating the soothing ritual of checking all of the things in her pockets. she paused when she couldn't find the snaptrotter tooth she had found on the beach in Matori. Had she dropped it? She froze, that tug... someone had stolen her tooth!

She swore in a way her father would have stared at her for. He didn't like it when she sore. But thievery warranted it! she had loved that tooth, it always reminded her of the pace she felt she belonged. Now she didn't have even that.

Well this was just great. Now she would have to beach hunt forever to find another one, which was a decent excuse to get back to Matori but still it was the principle of the thing. Maybe if she found a few more she could sell them and make some cash if they were popular enough to steal than there had to be demand.

Her heart was mildly broken but it could be so much worse, the thief could have gotten her emerald, fortunately they forgotthat most people had hidden pockets For some reason, because she was out of the thievery ridden Oba she had felt safe. Of course other places would also have a theft problem it happened wherever people congregated after all.

She was such a fool sometimes, she sighed and continued her day at the Jauharan market. In the end she found all of the ingredients her dad had wanted. After resting at an Inn she headed back on the long journey home.

At least she had completed her task and had done it well. She sighed after her debriefing and then determined, she packed a bag for later. She would visit the beaches and find another tooth and some more new treasures.

Besides she wanted to see her friends again. She always wondered what Lynx and Iexa were doing. She worried when they were so far away for so long. Who would get them out of the trouble they got in? They spent all of their free time up to one shenanigan or another after all. They never sat still. They were her pesky cute brothers from another family. What happened if she couldn't go back to them for a long time? Would they forget her? She wished she could move to Matori but her Dad's job kept him in Oba, and so did her Mother's as important as it was, she couldn't just pick up and leave her family. At least yet. Her life sucked.

She wondered what the future would bring. She was still in quite a melancholy mood, being silly enough to have something stolen from her when she was used to much larger more dangerous places made her feel like a pity party was in order to correct some of the wrong that had been done. She craved her friends and she had not found all that many people in Oba that she liked, some wanted to be her friend just for the connnections she could give. Iexa and Lynx wanted to be her friend because together they were a smart cohesive unit. They liked her for her skills and her wit and the fun that always seemed to happen when they were all together.

She missed them terribly.
