Name: Rosemary Davidson
Nicknames: Rosie, Romi, Cottonhead
Pronouns: She/her
Age: 16
Birthday: April 29th

School: St Cecelia’s School of the Arts

Hobbies:

  • Virtual Idols -- If you were to ask Rosie when and where she got interested in virtual idols, she honestly wouldn’t be able to tell you. Maybe she stumbled upon a vocaloid meme while she was in elementary school, maybe she came across them during a google search for pretty sparkly costumes for an art project a few years ago. Maybe she just saw them in some long forgotten anime. Whatever the origin, though, one thing cannot be denied: she has been thoroughly sucked in for years now. Albums, posters, merchandise, her room is covered with references to her favorites, and she can often be heard humming or singing along to the music performed by cheerful, animated faces. She doesn’t limit herself to well-known groups, either, or even to one language; for her, it doesn’t matter whether she can actually understand what is being said or not, as long as she can enjoy it. She also frequents idol-related forums and tends to memorize minute trivia about her special favorites, because in her mind it’s almost like having friends that are just a few degrees removed from her. She’s been known to draw a lot of fanart and design sketches, too-- maybe one of these days, it will even get her noticed by the people behind her favorite idols!

  • Divination -- Do you want to know the future? Do you want to know your future? Rosie does! And she’ll happily tell you your future through whatever method you’re willing to try out. Tarot? Absolutely! Tea leaves, why not? Astrology, numerology, anything that can claim to predict the shape of events to come, Rosie is at least interested in how it works and what it could say. She isn’t particularly skilled at interpreting any of the things she tries, though she has half a dozen guidebooks on her favorite methods, but she makes up for it with sheer enthusiasm. She’ll practice by trying to divine her own future, but what she really enjoys is seeking it out for others--after all, if she can help guide someone toward the right decision for themselves, or keep them alert for danger or opportunities on the horizon, then why wouldn’t she make the effort? Besides, it’s fun, and the only way she’ll ever get better is if she keeps working at it, right?

  • Video Games -- There are people who consume a broad variety of video games, people who stick to just one or two, and people who have a wider pool but still possess a select favorite genre. Rosie falls somewhere in the middle of all that: she likes playing video games, but most of all she likes games that she can play with other people, like sandbox or games with a co-op mode. She also enjoys rhythm games, and holds her high scores in those as some of her most valuable achievements--even though she’s continually trying to improve them. Sometimes, when the odd mood strikes her or she needs a day to unwind to herself, she’ll even while away an afternoon with a visual novel, but for the most part she limits herself to games as another social platform; a way to interact with others and have fun doing something together.

Pros:

  • Do you want to join me? Friendly -- Rosemary is an extroverted girl who enjoys interacting with others. Naturally cheerful and sweet-natured, she tends to make friends easily, and can get along reasonably well with most personality types. She doesn’t begrudge those that can’t get along with her, either--why should she, when there are always more people to meet and more friends to make? There’s always someone out there just waiting for her to get to know them, and all she has to do is look around. Rosie loves meeting people; they fascinate her! Their dreams, personalities, worldviews and values are all so varied and interesting that she doesn’t think she could ever be bored of them.

  • I’m here for you. Compassionate -- Soft-hearted Rosemary isn’t the sort of person who can simply leave someone to their misery. She has a good sense for when something’s amiss with a person, and has never found herself capable of ignoring it. She’s always willing to lend an ear to an upset friend of offer what advice she can for a particular problem, and if the only way she can help a classmate heal after an ugly breakup is to buy them three pints of ice-cream wit her own spending money and invite them over to watch terrible soap operas on a saturday night, then she’ll do it. The truth of it is that she just doesn’t like seeing people unhappy; sure, that sort of thing is a part of life, but it’s also an important part of human nature to help other people through those rough patches. So maybe there’s a part of her that thinks this is just something you’re supposed to do, but Rosie finds herself happiest when she’s easing those hurts and helping people put themselves back together, so they can pick their lives up and start looking forward again.

  • I’ll see this through to the end. Determined -- There’s a side to Rosemary that only comes out when she’s under significant pressure. Be it the nearing spectre of exams or a family emergency, if a crisis rears its head, Rosemary can be surprisingly collected and stubborn, willing to do the hard work that needs done in order to get through it and undaunted by the dangers that press in around her. If something really needs doing, she will see it done no matter what it takes, and won’t let her doubts or fears stop her. In dire situations, she reveals an inner core of iron that one would not normally think she has, and during those moments, she can even surprise herself with what she manages to pull off.

Cons:

  • This is awful! Emotional-- Emotions are a double-edged sword for Rosie. While she’s sweet and friendly, and her compassion makes her inclined to help others, they are a mark of one of her greater weaknesses, as well: emotions run very strongly in Rosie in all directions, both positive and negative. She can get caught up in and swept away by them if she isn’t careful. Now, this isn’t to say she has a temper or anything-- it takes a lot to make her angry, and even then you’re more likely to end up with tears and abrupt departures than any outbursts directed at others. Rather, it’s simply that she often finds them overwhelming and difficult to understand, and strong enough negative emotions tend to make her either shut down or try to find somewhere to hide until they’ve passed and she can breathe again--which is a terrible thing to have happen if you’re in the middle of an argument or getting lectured about focusing harder on your homework! (This can actually happen to a less-noticeable degree with positive emotions too; when she’s very excited it’s hard for her to rein herself in and remember that other people are not necessarily as hyped as she is, which can lead to soured tempers when she crosses over from ‘happy and chatty’ to obnoxious squealing.)

  • I’ll take a break later. Self-Neglectful-- Healthy boundaries are an important thing for a person’s development, and unfortunately for Rosie, that’s one of her weak points. She loves helping people, and she gets very invested in others and their well-being-- too invested. Rather than setting aside time for self-care and remembering that you can only look after others if you’re first in a good enough condition yourself, she throws herself into the well-being of the people around her and lets her own fall to the wayside. She simply doesn’t realize that she needs to invest in herself besides the simple, surface-level pleasures of a good idol concert or a game night; she’s doing alright enough, and there’s so much else that’s far more important and worth thinking about! This neglect is compounded by the fact that when she gets caught up in doing something--be it a long study session, working on a new design sketch or art piece, or even a long concert--she will completely lose track of time and come out of it to realize she forgot to eat, or is going to have to cut her night’s sleep a bit short.

  • I’m not sure about this... Hesitant-- When Rosie’s under extreme pressure, she can be strong, determined and resolute--but up until that point, she’s anything but. Circumstances that are less than dire fail to bring out the best in her, because they leave enough room to breathe that she can instead fill that space with uncertainty and fear. She will second guess her every decision, hem and haw and get herself caught up in ‘what-ifs’ right up until the point where it’s absolutely do or die--and if the situation fails to reach that level of dire threat, she can and will find herself too paralyzed to follow through. This means that much of her homework is put off until the last day, when the threat of a looming deadline sends her knuckling down into high pressure mode, when really her life would be much easier if she would just do it in a timely manner. It also means she’s terrible at decision making; she will go back and forth and back and forth on an issue, unable to fully commit due to whatever risks her own mind is drumming up and caught in a loop that means she might just miss out instead of having to make the choice.

General Appearance

A moderately tall girl of 5’7”, Rosie is rather thin and gangly and still visibly growing into herself. She’s moderately curvy and doesn’t really have an athletic build--she just looks like a teenager who’s putting all of her energy into growing and burning through everything she eats. Her skin in a darker olive tone and her face is ever so slightly heart-shaped. Her eyes are large and amber brown, and her nose is long but not particularly jutting. She tends to keep her very thick and fluffy white hair up in twintails that poof out around her head, sometimes tied with ribbons or decorated with cute hairpins. As for fashion, she tends toward flowy clothes that don’t take a lot of effort to bother with, like sundresses in summer and long skirts and oversized sweaters when it’s cooler. She will wear sandals or crocs, because in truth she’s not particularly fond of shoes.Slip-on shoes also make their way into her wardrobe, but never anything with pronounced heels--she’s convinced she’d break an ankle if she tried.

She’s also prone to drawing on herself with markers and gel pens and paint pens, never mind how safe or unsafe that may be, and has big dreams for tattoos once she’s old enough. For now, doodling daisies on her ankles and geometric patterns on her arms will have to do!
