Kitya loved the rocky shoreline of Matori. The pristine sands were dotted with larger rocks, some that looked as if they fell straight from the cliffside above, while other areas just held little tidepools in place of the rocks and sand. If it wasn’t for how white some areas of sand where she would almost mistake it for the shoreline of her homeland in Yael. It really was pretty. She was thankful for the change of scenery. Unlike Yael, Kitya found a lot of hope in Matori and knew that there was far less superstition on the mainland in comparison to the old fashioned Yaeli. The thought made Kitya smirk as she walked along the shores. While she had recently arrived, she had decided to venture a little ways from the docks and out towards where the shoreline was more wild and free. Just like me. Kitya smiled as she pushed back her hood and allowed the seabreeze to brush through her indigo locks of hair.
“What do you think, Sia?” She mused quietly as she held out a small blue crystal towards her travel pack, “Isn’t it all so exciting? I've missed Matori so much! Hopefully you and Mio like it just as much as me.” As she spoke a small keldari hissed and poked its head out of her bag sleepily before claiming the crystal and disappearing into the depths of the leather satchel once more. Kitya shared more than her Papa’s love of adventure. She absolutely adored animals and it was no surprise when she spotted an alol scampering along that she found herself following it further down the shoreline.

Pynar sighed and put his hands behind his head as he walked along the beach. All his siblings were out today so normally where he found his comfort and safety zone with them, he was on his own for the time being. That's why he made his way to the beach, the ocean often calmed him and let his mind wander in thoughts about it. It was so vast, who knew what all was out there. With the discovery of Kahikina, it seemed like there was endless possibilities. He sighed as he walked, letting his arms swing and kicked his feet in the sand every couple of steps. Thoughts of the new lands brought up so many questions for him still. He remembered his sister Cahira talking about going and visiting, but was that something he wanted to do? Py honestly had no idea what he was going to do with his life. What kind of weapon would he take up? He kicked his feet in the sand again before he noticed that the sand he kicked flew towards a girl sitting on the beach. His eyes widened but there was nothing he coudl do to try and stop the sand. "Ohmygosh I'm so sorry." He gushed quietly as he stood back about ten feet worried about any kind of retaliation.

Kitya had been so close to the alol. Her attention was completely taken by the creature so that she didn't even notice the approach of the stranger. She was crouched, crawling almost on her belly across the sands, when suddenly she found that sand was raining down about her. Kitya's gaze widened in surprise and she couldn't help the soft gasp that left her lips, "Oh!" The girl tumbled backwards and quickly bounced back to her feet so that she could shake some of the sand from her clothing. Thankfully it was fairly easy to smack the sand from her leathers save for whenever she had to pull her top a bit away from her body to let the extra sand trickle down her bare midrift. Pursing her lips as she just settled on the fact that sand was now part of her attire, Kitya glanced towards her assaliant. Oh. A Matori but not a Matori. She coudln't help but to notice his eyes and the two little crystals on his forehead. A cute assailant.
"I suppose it's okay since you apologized." Kitya offered with a sly smile, "Though if you're really sorry maybe you might have to buy me a drink or something later."

He dug his toes in the sand in embarrassment as he completely missed her attempt at flirting. "I um, if you're thirsty I guess I can go buy a drink for you if you'll tell me what you would like." Polite boy that he is didn't shy away from taking care of someone. "I really am sorry for kicking sand on you...I was lost in my thoughts and didn't notice anybody else...I'm sorry..." He looked down at the ground. How rude was he to not even pay attention to where he was going. He was so used to being alone when he came to the beach the idea that someone else could be just sitting down didn't even occur to him. Pynar looked up from the sand and gave her a nervous smile.

"Honestly I don't even know what I would like. If you have any recommendations for food I would welcome them. I haven't really ate anything since the ship docked earlier today." Kitya pursed her lips thoughtfully as she mulled over her options. Surely that would be good, right? A local could point out better food than some shady tavern full of a bunch of drunken sailors. That was the last thing she needed when her emotions still threatened to overspill into untamed energy.
Kitya's thoughts drifted back as she noticed how guilty the Matori still looked. She shifted her feet in the sands before finally reaching out to pat the stranger's shoulder, "It happens and I'm really not upset. I promise I won't cast a curse on you this time." The mage couldn't resist teasing before she pulled her hand back. Now that she had some control over her emotions the young woman couldn't resist being a bit playful. It truly was doing her wonders to be away from her family. Kitya shoved the thought aside before studying the Matori some more, "I suppose I should at least know the name of the person who dumped sand on me. My name's Kitya and you?"

"Well there's this one place in town that serves some really good fish..." He was so lost in his thoughts that even though he saw her reaching out for him he almost jumped though he resisted, but just barely. "O-ok. Don't do it again or I'll be screwed....or get turned into a zanteer...gotcha." It was his attempt at a small joke to try and help his own nerves too. "My name is Pynar, it's nice to meet you Kitya." He looked over the yaeli girl. "Are you sure you're okay?"

"Fish sounds good. I just have to hope that you aren't lying to me about it but I'm trusting you. Are you hungry? It's rather lonely to eat without someone else there, you know." Kitya smiled before his reaction to her teasing actually brought a laugh to her lips. It was surprising. She had not actually laughed with joy for a bit since discovering her magic and leaving home but this stranger had actually brought the sound freely to her lips. Kitya studied him before shaking her head, "I was just teasing about the curse but thank you for indulging me." He did seem nervous but hopefully the laughter would help clear the air about them. Surely she did look like a witch though coming out of nowhere in her dark leathers and with her glowing gaze, but the laughter brought back some of her youthful and playful appearance. It was a nice feeling.
"I've not been the best but honestly you're already making me feel better, Pynar." She confessed honestly with a small smile in appreciation for his concern, "So what do you think? Hungry for some fish?"

"I could eat." He said simply yet her laugh brought a little smile to his lips. She had a nice laugh. Pynar didn't have many interactions with people outside his family, he tended to stick to home with them or go to town and pick up supplies but this was a little refreshing. "Okay as long as I can still stay me we should be good. I'm sorry you've not had a good time. You said you just got here from a ship? Was your journey unpleasant?" It wasn't his place to ask but as she was alone right now he wondered if something had happened on her journey over. [Pynar 4]

"Oh good!" Kitya did not waste any time and reached out so that she could slip her arm though Pynar's own. "I'll do my best to not let any crazy magic slip out and change you." She found herself teasing as she linked arms with him and glanced about, her expression shifting as she pondered his questions. "The journey itself was fine while the reasoning may still be decided." She responded finally almost as if in riddle as she truly didn't know what lay ahead of her. The beginning was rough but there was always hope that the final chapter would have some peace, correct? At least that was what was keeping her going now that she was fighting to tame her more wild emotions and try to find herself in this vast world they lived in. Eventually she would find her father and maybe even her sister in these foreign lands and then Kitya would truly see if this journey away from Yael was worthwhile.
"Ready to lead me towards some food? I enjoy talking but it would be nice to sit down and have a meal at the same time." She offered with a small smile towards her new companion, her gaze bright despite the inner turmoil she had been dealing with the past few weeks.

Pynar stiffened a little as she linked her arms with his. It was a very strange thing to do with someone you didn't know well, at least Py thought. It was something he would do with his sisters when they were all younger so he tried to not think much of it. "Mmm." He said in response to her explanation. It made sense in a way. Sometimes people did things without thinking. Other people. Definitely not him. He couldn't imagine doing things on a whim like that. It just wasn't him. "Alright, it's not too long of a walk." And so he led them to a small eatery owned by an elderly Matorian couple who smiled at them and waved them to an empty table. A younger boy, an oban/matori hybrid who was younger than themselves but older than Pynar's younger siblings, approached them to lead them to the table with a small blush on his face. It occurred to Pynar how they must look to the older couple and he felt his own blush heat his face. "Thank you." He said politely and pulled out the chair for Kitya before sitting in his own. If he remembered correctly, the young boy's father had taken on a job overseas and so the boy and his mom had come to stay with her parents. The boy handed them small menus and said to wave to him when they were ready to order. The prices were decent and he came here often enough that he could always come back and pay for anything if needed. "Order whatever you'd like." He told Kitya kindly. [Pynar 5]

While Kitya was not oblivious to the attention the young Yaeli simply didn't mind it. Her glowing gaze startled some but overall most seemed more accepting, something that was drastically different from how the Yaeli viewed foreigners, and she was slowly adjusting to the fact that Matori seemingly was more open to foreigners and hybrids than other countries. She could only imagine how different it was when her father first traveled to this country but it seemed the years had opened things up even more for visitors which was nice. "Everyone seems friendly enough here." She found herself commenting out loud before grinning towards Pynar. "I'm honestly a bit surprised by it all. Yael would have some superstitious crones coming out to shower you with spirit repellent dust or something."
Settling back in her chair she tapped at the menu thoughtfully before glancing at her companion. "Do you have anything in particular to recommend? Some of this soup with clams sounds good but I'm not certain since the spiced fish also seems appealing to a starvin' gal like me."

Nilah Scratching the bridge of his nose, Pynar thought about it and what he knew of Yael. "I've never been to Yael myself but up until the recent past it was just you Yaeli's on the island right? Where as here on the mainland we're used to multiple different peoples as everyone explores and expands outwards." So to him, the difference in acceptance made sense. "As for food, I do recommend the spiced fish, its definitely my favorite. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu though, everything really is tried and true." It was one of his favorite places to eat in town. [Pynar 6]

"Fair enough." Kitya nodded and her lips curved upwards into a sly grin though as she pondered things. "Though you have to understand that the Yaeli are extremely fond of stories and believing in the supernatural. Is that common here? To believe that one single misstep would lead to a curse or the like?" She pondered out loud, her elbow propped up on the table as she studied Pynar. Even if her people had never seen another race in centuries would it have been different if they weren't so fond of believing in the gods and spirits? Either way she supposed it was what it was since no one could ever know. Her father just happened to be an unusual man who doubted in such beliefs while her mother shuddered to even dare think otherwise.
"Alright. Spiced fish it is then." Kitya smiled towards Pynar before pushing her menu across the table towards him. "Spiced fish and fresh bread with some water, please." She didn't want alcohol, not this early in her journey yet even though the idea was tempting. What would it be like to drink and let herself loosen up a bit? I'd probably set the whole bar on fire by mistake. She thought with a soft chuckle under her breath as she gazed about the place, her lips curving upwards into a teasing grin as she pointed a look towards one of the servers who had been looking their way. The girl flushed and quickly turned on her heel before darting back into the kitchen and returning with a pitcher of water to give them fresh drinks. "Thank you." Kitya bobbed her head before making certain her order was placed with whatever Pynar wanted as well.

"I'll have the same." Pynar ordered before thinking more on Kitya's thoughts. It was a good question and deserved a thoughtful response. "Here in Matori? Or the mainland in general? I would say it depends on the different peoples. For example, most of the earthlings here on the mainland likely believe in some sort of god or gods, though the extent of it varies. Sure you have your fanatics as well as your non-believers but we're more of a grey area as opposed to black and white." He paused to think on it for a moment more, not even realizing he was loosening up thinking about these philosophical questions. "I suppose it is different for the Aishans whose god or mother is, from what I've been told, a tree. I've not met many and a lot tend to be tight lipped about their religious beliefs but I would figure that they are probably the most like the Yaeli in their beliefs." It was his opinion anyway.

"I see." Kitya blinked thoughtfully before nodding her head. "It just appears then that everyone is more accustomed to foreigners as well. Originally I did hear stories about how some thought Yaeli were evil creatures when they first met with us." She teased lightly with a grin towards Pynar. "What do you think? Am I some sort of evil spirit come to whisk you away?" She did make a note to watch out for these Aishans, already she had been warned about their Elarian counterparts and the Extremists who had caused so much harm in her home country, but Kitya didn't realize how extensive their beliefs in a goddess tree were before now. I suppose I should have studied more about these lands before crossing over. She had adored hearing her father's stories but never truly studied the individual countries rather than just getting caught up in the excitement of his tales about the adventure, less about the actual people.
As their food slowly started arriving at the table, Kitya found herself picking at a piece of bread while she studied Pynar. "As it is I truly do wish to learn more about the cultures while I'm overseas. It it interesting to note how differently my reception is from what it would have been several years ago." She admitted with a small smile. "I guess I have it a bit easier than my father who traveled here when the countries were first opening up to the outside islands."
