  • Please ask before using the Luminarium as inspiration.
I put a lot of love and work into this tribe. Please consider that before directly mimicking aspects of this thread, Discord, and other Luminarium features.
  • You can join via the Discord or through PM. You must get approval to join.
While it is preferred one uses the Luminarium Discord to join or add members to the tribe, those who do not wish to join the Discord can PM me directly at NymiiNym. Please utilize either joining features to insert new foxes or add breeding kits into the tribe (the latter is for my personal logging).
  • Requests to enact plots that heavily affect and alter Luminarium must be approved.
Wars, direct antagonizing other tribes, plagues -- anything that affects the tribe as a whole needs to be approved. I have the right to deny any requests.
  • Luminarium accepts most foxes, but can banish for breaking tribe rules.
The Luminarium accept foxes of a kind or neutral nature, with minor exceptions for those who are more aggressively inclined but show true loyalty and passion for the tribe purpose. Regardless, breaking the laws of the tribe can result in banishment, depending on the severity of the action and the harm done to others. You are free, as always, to plot as you'd like, but keep in mind in-character actions have in-character consequences.
  • Luminarium defaults to neutral alignment with other tribes.
Due to serving towards helping the mentally ill, Luminarium is fairly receptive towards the interaction with other tribes. Direct action changes perception, and if a tribe owner wishes to ally fully with the tribe or become enemies they may DM/PM NymiiNym.
  • You may contact NymiiNym on Discord or Gaiaonline.
However please keep in mind I do not get on Gaiaonline unless for Modifoxes. I had quit prior, returning for the shop itself. You will have easy access to me on Discord, so if you want quick responses please DM me there!
  • Incest, *****, and rape plots are absolutely forbidden.
There will be no room for discussion on these matters. Your character will be removed from the tribe.
  • The Luminarium main thread is used for RP and announcements!
The main thread is an ORP for all foxes within the tribe (with special threads opening if there's a particular story-event that changes location). Those RPing in this thread will be within Luminarium land, and can interact freely with one another. Announcements will also be posted her. Check back on the most recent announcement, as the season and story will change ORP scenes.

  • Respect is a given, not earned.
Members should always treat one another with respect, especially patients.
  • Do not take what is not yours.
Stealing is absolutely forbidden! The tribe generally shares most of what they have, so the need to steal shouldn't arise in the first place. Should one desperately need something they can always approach the Scouting team and make a request.
  • Elder has first and final say and the Beta enforces their order.
The Elder is appointed head of the tribe with every intention to ensure their tribe's wellbeing. Abuse of this role can and should result in removal, enforced by the Beta. Otherwise, any change in the tribe must be approved by the Elder and their word is the law. The Beta enforces this law and can speak for the Elder should they be elsewhere.
  • One may not have intimate relations with family or a minor.
It is absolutely forbidden to have a physically intimate relationship with a family member or a minor. The punishment is banishment.
  • Outsiders must always be accompanied by a tribe member outside of the home camp.
The swamp's heavy fog makes travel fairly dangerous for those without a lantern, requiring a member with a lantern to help guide patients and visitors.
  • Relationships with a patient must stay professional.
Foxes cannot treat their patient outside the realms of professionalism. Romance is especially out of the question. Relationships developing with ex-patients is frowned upon but not directly forbidden. Relationships forming with the patient of another tribe-member is permitted.
  • Outsiders cannot enter without a calling.
The tribe is incredibly secretive -- only those who feel a calling can find their way through the fog and towards a member of the tribe. A fox will naturally find themselves permitted to enter the fog when they have a purpose within the grounds. Members of the tribe cannot bring in visitors.

The Luminarium are an elusive and secretive group, only found by those who have been guided towards their lands. The swamplands they reside within are protected by a heavy layer of fog, only relenting towards those welcomed and guided within. In fact, before the tribe settled within their lands it was traversable, forcing foxes into circles and back towards where they came from due to the Deity's influence. The tribe has earned themselves a mysterious aura amongst travelers tales, often misconceived as merely a legend.

Those who find themselves lost in life will often feel a tug towards the tribe lands, bringing lost souls into the fog and onto the doorstep of the Luminarium. The tribe serves as a light for the lost, specializing in psychiatric and psychological care for their patients. Many foxes who reside within the Luminarium full-time are previous patients or foxes who found themselves guided into joining; noted for their exceptional empathy towards others. The tribe never initially turn away those brought to Luminarium, although they hold a high regard for order and respect and banish those who have little regard for the Luminarium code.

While the tribe lives within a naturally dark and foggy swamp, the group itself is a lively bunch. Settled nicely within a long abandoned human-made village, the home camp is decorated with lanterns and found baubles. Often music can be heard as song, dance, and play are welcomed during the later hours of the night. The tribe works hard to take care of the lost brought to them during the day and evening, with the night full of merry. The tribe is fairly close-knit due to proximity, sharing whatever they have with their own and celebrating every victory as a unit. They're also fairly protective of one another, quick to turn against those who conspire to harm their own.

An official member will always carry their lantern with them, which helps break the fog surrounding their immediate vicinity and grants freedom within the swamplands. The lanterns arrive in the dead of night, placed neatly at the Elder's hut and used for decoration to lift the fog from the village itself, later going towards a new-member when the time comes. Their lantern is the ultimate symbol of their loyalty and devotion to the pursuit of guiding others through their troubled lives, constantly lit for as long as the Deity accepts their position within the tribe.

The Luminarium will always value their journey towards helping those who need mental health care, prioritizing the pursuit of guiding the lost forward in life. Private to those who have no need of them, they remain tightly connected to one another throughout their life, although they readily welcome those brought from the fog.

Hyperion -- the Modeity of Guidance. [They/Them]

The tribe worships Hyperion, the Modeity of Guidance. Hyperion remains an elusive and quiet Deity, focusing on the protection of their people by casting a thick and impenetrable fog. They ask little of their tribe, instead endlessly offering guidance and gifts in the form of their divine protection and lanterns set before the Elder's doorstep. While seen as benevolent by their worshippers, Hyperion has the final say in who remains within the tribe lands, forcibly removing foxes they deem unfit with their own fog.

Luminarium do not provide many offerings, as communication between the Elder and Hyperion has made clear they find little interest in the physical gift. Instead, Hyperion enjoys music and dance, evident as the tribe hosts many parties and mingling's to entertain and please their Deity. Rarely, when Hyperion is bored enough, they'll leave a circle of mushrooms, which tribe members often dance within once found. Hyperion does not answer many prayers from the Luminarium Elder, instead only coming forth when directly needed. Regardless, the tribe holds their protective Deity in high regard.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
The tribe focuses on psychiatric and psychological care, with foxes split between what they specialize in. Some ranks exclusively follow one care, while others may instead support those enacting those roles (although everyone has basic training in mental health). Medicine is made within the tribe and outsourced from Yasashii, helping keep the tribe stocked at all times.

Luminarium trains those brought to the tribe as new members and do not offer their training towards unrelated outsiders.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Luminarium does not actively recruit or seek new members, instead allowing Hyperion to guide foxes to their lands. They don't make a habit of turning away those the Deity selects, although new members are expected to follow all rules in place. New members in the form of kits born within the tribe automatically are accepted within the ranks and given their lantern at a young age, while new members in the form of rogue foxes must first receive their training before they're fully acknowledged as a formal Luminarium member.

Training is done by those senior in their ranks, although Luminarium lacks an official mentoring program. Training is often a group effort, with long-time Luminarium specialists taking on the task as a group. New members will not receive their lantern until they're ready to accept a rank or completed their training.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Leaving is a forever affair, noted by their lantern losing its eternal flame by Hyperion's will. Foxes may leave on their accord, of course, but they can never visit the tribe again and are treated as any outsider. Foxes may take their lanterns with them when they leave, although it is effectively useless against the fog. Rarely, a fox is called to return by their lantern briefly lighting once more, although the fox may ignore the call and the flame will eventually extinguish.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
The fog is the sacred barrier between the world and Luminarium, created by the Modeity themselves. Hyperion is selective of who may enter the swamp lands, warping the fog to force users out of the swamp, regardless of how hard they push for entry. The fog is impossible to see through from the outside, although those with the Luminarium lanterns can vaguely make shapes out within their land. The fog parts just enough for entry for those brought to the swamplands for a specific purpose, whether as a new recruit or a patient. New foxes welcomed by the fog still cannot make sense of the land around them, but a Luminarium fox will find them quickly and bring them to the village. In rare cases, when a member hasn't spotted a newcomer, a fox can wander close to the village, often personally greeted by the Elder herself.

The feeling of the fog pulling a fox towards it is a physical one, which a sense of urging within their chest that tugs at their heart. The feeling can be resisted by removing oneself from the direct vicinity of the border of Luminarium, but it'll always be present whenever they linger nearby.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
The Luminarium do not travel much -- not without a purpose, at least. It's permitted to visit family and friends, although a fox is required to return home within a months time. Kits are never allowed to travel outside of the tribe, instead kept safely under the protection of Hyperion. Some foxes are sent to help allied tribes and groups, often in small gatherings of their own. The Elder must be spoken to before a fox travels outside of the tribe, and she retains the right to deny a request depending on the current workload of the tribe and needs of the Luminarium.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
There are two types of outsiders; welcomed and unwelcomed. Regardless of how the Luminarium feel as a group, it is Hyperion who decides who is permitted within the lands. Welcomed outsiders are those seeking guidance/help or to join the cause, while unwelcomed outsiders are anyone else. Family, friends, ex-members; it doesn't matter, if they lack the feeling of the fog pulling at them then they cannot physically find their way through the fog.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Banishment is a serious punishment, dolled out to those who offend the Modeity to a point they no longer welcome the fox. Luminarium does little to enact their own physical response, as Hyperion has yet to banish someone the Elder doesn't agree with. A fox is met with a quick and swift execution of exclusion from the tribe, their lantern extinguishing and the fog slowly pushing the fox out of the territory.

Patients who have grievously disrespected the tribe and Deity will face similar treatment, with the fog actively thickening to a point even those with a lantern cannot see the surrounding area.

In the rare case that the Elder notices behavior Hyperion has yet to see, the Elder will pray to Hyperion and inform them of the breach.

The Luminarium is a relatively young tribe, beginning with Libitana. Despite this, the tribe has deeply rooted themselves within their swamp, tightly weaving themselves together in their everyday. While members can choose to live scattered within the swamp, most choose to settle nicely within the village, resulting in constant interaction with their fellow members. The tribe has always been welcoming towards patients and new members, but hold a still tongue towards those not welcomed by the fog.

Private to the unwelcomed, Luminarium might be falsely assumed to be cold and distant. This is far from the truth -- foxes gather together to share supplies and celebrations frequently. Nighttime is a lively event, full of dancing, music, and various forms of story-telling. The general theme of community is strong within Luminarium, both for their own members and the patients who find themselves in their care. Those who betray that sense of trust and family are rejected harshly, both by Hyperion and the members themselves. Due to the nature of the tribes purpose, however, the tribe is willing to forgive if a fox atones or puts the work in to better themselves, always they might not necessarily forget.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Family is, in its own right, important to the foxes within Luminarium, however blood kin is not the only form of family the Luminarium consider. Family can mean chosen blood, too, with several foxes considering their close friends as members of their family. The culture of Luminarium pushes the belief of accepting those for who they are, with members always striving to be a source of acceptance and comfort towards their kin.

It's not uncommon for families to live in the same dens, especially within the village. Foxes who couple off may, for a time, live on their own, but often they'll share dens with any future children they take in or have. Those who move out of their family den are usually still nearby, making visits fairly common.

Mating with an outsider is not entirely encouraged or seen favorably. It happens, of course, but the difficulties of maintaining a relationship with someone not a part of the secretive Luminarium are always present. They cannot visit Luminarium, they cannot spend time within the tribe, and they cannot share the same den with their partner. Of course, there's been instances of a Luminarium fox falling in-love with an outsider and that outsider is also welcomed into the Luminarium lands by the fog, but not all outside partners have a purpose within the tribe.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
The tribe cannot grow without the pitter patter of young paws! The Elder does not restrict breedings within the tribe, never once batting an eye at how often a fox has children. There's an understanding that sometimes the Deities just choose for you, but the tribe always has eager paws to help those bewildered by their newest youth. Foxes who breed will need to alert the Elder of the BCRs so the necessary steps can be taken in educating and caring for the young.

Reproducing with an outsider is considerably trickier, as the fog can forcibly keep parents apart. It's not favorable to breed with an outsider, although if a fox does it's fairly common for them to take all BCRs back home for the time. BCRs and kits do not find themselves rejected by the fog, and almost all members born to a Luminarium fox while they were a part of the tribe have been favorably welcomed. The rare rejection occurs, of course, but normally those born within the tribe have been raised to welcome the Luminarium ideals and thus please Hyperion.

The other parent(s), however, are not given the same pass. Many have been welcomed by the fog and joined Luminarium, but several have not. As a result, the tribe does not encourage purposefully breeding with an outsider. If a fox does it's far easier to keep all the children instead of continuously visit the other parent, but foxes are permitted to raise their children outside the tribe if they must.

Unwanted children are raised by Carers and, if possible, placed with a fox who wants to adopt.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
The birth of a new member is as exciting as it is welcomed. New parents are given plenty of care and supplies for their young, with friends and family often offering to clean dens and set up the nest. Parents who are given BCRs are met by Carers, who will help educate parents in childcare and ensure the BCR is healthy. Carers will visit frequently, especially when the BCR hatches.

The tribe does acknowledge that the Deities have their own minds and sometimes a fox will have unwanted or surprise children. Parents who still wish to raise their young will be provided extra paws to make the experience easier, and those who do not want to raise their offspring can opt for the BCR(s) to be raised by the Carers/placed with a Luminarium fox who does want them.

Kits old enough to speak and communicate begin education under Carers, learning basic survival skills and eventually placed in training for a rank they want/are fit for. Carers often will have kits learn under senior rank-holders, ensuring a kit receives the proper skills for their future.

True adulthood is given once a kit finishes their training and stops growing. The Elder will call a private meeting between them and the fox, bestowing to them their rank.

Foxes who reach old age can continue their work within the tribe until they deem fit to retire. Older foxes who are ill or unable to care for themselves are moved immediately to the village for close observation. These foxes will have their ranks removed and be cared for by Shamans, but are permitted to still partake within the non-work side of Luminarium life.

Death is a tragic but necessary cycle to life. Foxes who have passed will have a burial within the graveyard, with rocks placed in various decorative spirals to indicate placement. Foxes may mourn their ancestors and friends here. Death is a quiet and solemn affair, with foxes retelling stories of the deceased and a meal of their favorite foods prepared.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
The Luminarium do not have a name for their beliefs or way of living, nor do they acknowledge a religion. Instead, they practice meeting others with compassion, empathy, and an interest in understanding. "Treat others as the way you wish to be treated" is a good motto for the Luminarium way. Hyperion does not enjoy frequent worship, although the tribe does perform frequent entertainments that the Deity has been known to enjoy. Dancing, music, storytelling, art -- anything that might serve to tell a story has brought the tribe closer together and been their main source of acknowledgment of their Deity.

Faithfulness goes towards their tribe and Deity. Luminarium is their home and people -- something they protect fiercely. They believe they've been set upon this earth to help others who need their guidance, shunning those who might exist just to demolish their attempts. Forgiveness is believed to be essential in ones life, but not if it harms those who offer it.

The fog is regarded as a sacred barrier, with foxes respecting the decisions it and Hyperion make. Foxes rejected by the fog are quietly dismissed, although not forgotten. The Luminarium do not question the reasons for the fogs decisions, believing entirely in the good-will of their Deity.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
The tribe is often making some sort of sound, whether it be a faint song scattered amongst members as they wander the tribe lands or a full blown melody belted in the dead of night. The tribe tells stories, keeping alive the memory of others, the history of their tribe, and tales they've conjured in their dreams. While song and dance is the most common form of sharing their tales, foxes also partake in various artforms. Creativity runs rampant through Luminarium blood, unfurling when their work is finally done for the day.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Education is essential in their field of work. Basic survival is, of course, important, but the way the brain works is of utmost concern. Foxes can choose their future based on the education they receive from senior rank-holders, which is broken into three paths: psychiatry, psychology, and assisting those who partake in the previous two paths. Kits receive this training young, presented with surface-level lessons on all three paths and then given direct teachings once the kit decides what interests them. It's not unheard of for kits to flip between options before deciding, which is also welcomed.

Rogue adults receive the same training, although many already have an idea of what branch they would like to train for. They can entirely skip learning of the other two paths should this be true.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
The Luminarium are devoted to their cause, working tirelessly towards helping those who need them. They work hard during the sunlit hours of the week, with many taking further time to address their patients if needed. There is an understanding that one cannot overwork themselves if they wish to do their best, present as the tribe offers foxes to take days off when they need them and tend to their own mental health.

Nights and weekends are often spent on what the individual wants. While often a fox will choose to participate in tribe events and activities, a fox is also welcomed to simply rest or partake in their own enjoyment.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
The Luminarium are omnivores, although have a heavy diet of mushrooms, fish, turtles, and other swamp creatures. Outside food is sourced at times, but the Luminarium do not frequently partake in non-swamp based diets. Food is usually raw, although some foxes choose to cook their own meals. It's common for foxes to dine together, especially during the weekend. The Elder encourages dinner to be shared, hosting large meals every night within the village.

The tribe has a few ceremonies of their own, occasionally adding new ones as time continues on. The tribe is still developing and discovering traditions they wish to pass on to future generations, with current ceremonies altering until they're just right.

OCC Note: Owners may write into their character stories and history that these events occurred to their fox (for appropriate situations). A ceremony does not need to always be RP'd in-thread, although they can be if a DM/PM is sent to NymiiNym.

  • Lifemating: Foxes who choose to partner for life often do so with their friends and family. Lifemating is seen as the first step towards forever, celebrated with a feast and party. The actual event is privately done within the Elder's hut, with the Elder blessing their union. Once the foxes leave the hut the celebrations begin, with the newly lifemated foxes not lifting a single paw. Foxes who prefer a more intimate affair can, of course, have it, but it's generally assumed a lifemating will follow with a night of food, dancing, and fun. Proposals are not uncommon, but some lifematings result due to mutual conversation. The Luminarium are flexible with their idea of love -- monogamy and polyamory are both welcomed.

  • Birthdays: The day a fox gains another year is a bright one, full of food and song. Close family and friends often bring gifts, although often small and useful directly to the fox themselves. Birthdays are often a public affair, although, as with any personal event, a fox can opt out of the group attention.

  • Coming of Age: Kits becoming adults receive a meeting with the Elder. Each individual kit has their own private meeting to determine the rank they'll obtain and if they're ready. Once a kit is deemed fully trained and prepared for their future rank they'll be congratulated by the Elder and given a blessing. Newly grown foxes will receive words of wisdom and praise from tribe members in the days surrounding their rank receival.

  • Banishment: Foxes abruptly are cast out of the tribe upon banishing, but the foxes within Luminarium go through their own shedding of the fox and their image. Less of a ceremony and more of a ritual, foxes affected by the decisions of the banished fox will often seek counseling and, if needed, take time off to address their feelings.

  • Funerals: When a fox dies they are buried within the Spiral Graveyard, where any and all Luminarium foxes can gather and quietly respect the deceased. Once buried, foxes often leave trinkets within the rock spirals. A feast is thrown, with foxes sharing stories of the recently departed fox. Often, the deceased's favorite foods are presented, even if it's hard to obtain. The lantern of the deceased is hung on the Memorial Tree at the end of the night.

The Luminarium celebrate a few holidays within their tribe, with each family and fox having the freedom to also celebrate their own personal beliefs and holidays. Tribe-shared holidays often are witnessed as a whole, although those working can skip particular events with the understanding that they'll be saved any leftover food and gifts.

OCC Note: Owners may write into their character stories and history that these events occurred to their fox (for appropriate situations). Some holidays may even have tribe-specific threads, games, or events thrown! Some may not even be mentioned in-story. Regardless, these holidays are assumed to have occurred and can be referenced freely. Secondly, a lot of these holidays originate from Yasashii, which the Luminarium are allied closely with.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
  • December 21st, Winter Solstice: Foxes gather during the shortest day of the year to dance, celebrating the arrival of winter. Foxes continue working, although often they'll have half days.
  • December 25th, Christmas: A day off work, foxes gather with their loved ones and spend the early hours exchanging gifts and enjoying one another's company. During night, the tribe gathers together at a feast. Small presents are left at the Spiral Graveyard to include those who have passed.
  • December 31st, New Year's Eve: Foxes make goals and aspirations for the upcoming year, sharing their resolutions with friends and family.
  • February 14th, Valentines Day: The perfect day for romance! Foxes who have yet to confess to their crushes will often do so, providing presents with their confession. Couples will treat one another and, once work is done, go out on dates.
  • February 21st, Family Day: A day to spend with your family! Some families even take trips outside of the trip, returning the next day.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
  • March 20th, Spring Equinox: Marking the beginning of spring, the holiday focuses on new beginnings! Foxes clean out their dens, toss out the things they don't need, and apologize for any wrongs they've yet to address.
  • April 1st, April Fools: Geared towards children, foxes are encouraged to embrace their inner child! Small and harmless pranks are often played and foxes take the day off (for those not in need of their service) to enjoy the sun.
  • April 5th, The Egg Hunt: Eggs are hidden by the Elder and, sometimes, Hyperion. Foxes can find these eggs and return them to the Elder for a small treat.
  • May 1st, May Day: A day to celebrate life, vitality, and growth, foxes dance, sing, and perform together! It isn't uncommon to see foxes dressed in flower-crowns or dancing around trees!
  • June 1st, Parents Day: Foxes say thanks to their parents, often cooking meals for them and providing them with presents. Those who do not wish to celebrate the holiday often turn to provide presents and care to the Elder.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
  • June 20th, Summer Solstice: The beginning of summer and the longest day of the year. Foxes smash watermelons at night, sharing the delightful treat with one another.
  • July 15th, Elder's Appreciation: Throughout the day foxes will send their appreciation to the Elder for caring for the tribe, often offering gifts and small meals.
  • August 10th, Day of the Great Rest: Members of the tribe work hard, giving their best to the well-being of their patients. Foxes take this day to rest. A small few are left to care for any patients in need, however, they often take the next day off, having foxes who partook in the holiday take their shifts.
  • September 20th, Children's Day: Much like parents day, but reversed. Parents provide dinner for their adult children and provide gifts. Kits are allowed to stay up longer and take the day off from training, making it a popularly loved holiday by children.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
  • September 22nd, Fall Equinox: The beginning of fall! Foxes pay tribute to the upcoming darker months, harvest nearby plants, and celebrate the day with a pumpkin and mushroom themed dinner.
  • September 30th, Ancestor's Day: Families come together to discuss their family line, reminiscing stories and passing on new ones for any recently deceased.
  • October 31st, Halloween: It's believed the dead return and walk among the earth during the night of Halloween! Foxes decorate their bodies to cover their form and mingle with the dead, believing spirits will be unable to tell the difference and thus reveal themselves. Kits are supervised as they trick-or-treat throughout the tribe.
  • September 2nd, Day of the Dead: Foxes gather to remember their deceased, providing small offerings to graves in the belief the spirits will receive the gift in the afterlife.
  • November 25th, Thanksgiving: After duties are done for the day, tribe-members gather and prepare a feast collectively. Once done, the entire tribe feasts as a group and shares what they're thankful for. At night, the Elder makes their rounds, thanking each tribe-member for their hard work.

The history of Luminarium is always developing, changing day by day based on actions taken by the members of the tribe itself. It's the job of the Elder to retain Luminarium's history and pass it on to their tribe-members in a way they deem fit. Regardless, any who join Luminarium will have access to the stories of the tribe. Anything written below, unless otherwise noted, is accessible to any fox within the tribe.

The Luminarium is a relatively young tribe, compared to others. It began with Libitana and a pursuit to help others. Having come from a tumultuous background, Libitana wandered the world of Modifox restlessly, looking for something to begin her journey. She found the answer in a woman trained in psychiatric and psychological care. Intrigued, Libitana trained under her for several years, finding her calling in the skill. She rounded her medical education by later training under Kithara; the Elder of the Yasashii.

Fully educated and keen on using her education to help others, Libitana wandered, occasionally stopping to tend to patients she picked up along the way. It was during these wanderings she stumbled upon a large swampland, where she rested for a night. That night a great and powerful creature stirred -- Hyperion, the Deity of Guidance.

Hyperion spoke to Libitana in her dreams, whispering of a calling she hadn't considered before -- a tribe. He promised her protection and guidance, in exchange for her obedience in all he may demand and request. Libitana woke from her dream and accepted his offer, with the stipulation Hyperion would not take more than she could offer. Being a reasonable Deity, Hyperion agreed.

Over the following days he whispered faintly to his newest follower, leading her to a forgotten human village built above the swampy waters. She set to work cleaning as Hyperion cast a thick and impenetrable fog around the swamp, setting aside a lantern just for Libitana at her chosen hut. As long as she carried it she could navigate the swamps easily -- so she did.

It was quiet for some time, but she didn't mind. She worked; repairing the huts and setting aside materials and food for the upcoming seasons. Time continued, and finally she was given a few students, accepted by the fog and stumbling into her paws. Lanterns were bestowed and they became the first of the Luminarium, and slowly the tribe spread, growing until Hyperion smiled favorably upon her. Patients arrived from the fog, finding comfort and recovery within the healing arms of the tribe. With their final proof of their hard work and demonstration of their abilities, Hyperion finally blessed Libitana.

She ascended into Elderhood without grandeur or ceremony -- as quietly as their first meeting had gone. Libitana woke in her new form and was greeted by the sight of her Deity. The Luminarium were officialized, and Hyperion recognized them as his.

The tribe continued on peacefully, although for a time it grew still. Kits did not arrive, new members waned, and a few foxes went missing. Libitana trusted in her Deity, working diligently to keep her tribe safe and healthy. As time stilled the tribe still went on with their duties, never forgetting their path.

Finally, after years of nothingness they were bestowed with growth within the tribe -- new kits were born and the fog brought forth new members. All was good within Luminarium -- all was just.

The Luminarium territory is a large swamp encircled by fog that pushes out any outsiders upon touch. Only a few are welcomed within the lands: future members of the tribe accepted by Hyperion, current members of the tribe, and patients. The lands within Luminarium are a mystery to outsiders, with only the vague cries of swampland animals giving a hint to the terrain within. Members rarely leave Luminarium and do not offer secrets of their territory, further aiding in the mystery.

The swamplands is lush with greenery and life, despite the fog. Local animals seem used to not needing their eyesight, traversing the swamp easily enough. The water is remarkably clean, either by Hyperion's grace or something else. In the center of the swamp is a village that had been created and abandoned by humans, resting on patches of swampland (with a few homes on the edges unfortunately flooded as water levels have increased). The Luminarium have worked hard to keep the village and its buildings in good health, with most members living with the many shelters available.

Large lily pads are scattered throughout the swamp -- about the same size as a normal Modifox. It isn't uncommon for kits to be found playing on them, even!

OCC Note: While several locations are discussed and mapped out, players are allowed to come up with generic locations within and around Luminarium! The map above focuses on the village -- the primary point for the tribe. Surrounding areas are left open for interpretation, so have fun!

The village the tribe resides in is always illuminated with hundreds of lanterns, delivered by Hyperion himself. The fog is particularly light in these areas, thickening at the end of the bridges heading into the outer lands. Members can live anywhere they wish, including outside of the village, but most choose to inhabitant a hut out of convenience.

The water surrounding this area is particularly clean, making for easy drinking water! Foxes don't have to worry much about basic living needs, luckily.

  • Main Village: The center of the spread village -- the bustle of activity can be found here. Dances, meals, meetings; they all are hosted within the main village. A few foxes also have chosen to live here, including the Elder. Food, medicine, and materials are also stored in a massive hut in the center of the village, easily accessible by all.
  • Patient's Corner: A more private area, where patients receive their care. Those working and their patients are allowed within this territory, while those not currently working are not (to give further privacy). Patients live here during their stay, although they have free range to explore the village (as long as they have a member with them).
  • Living Commons: Packed with huts, foxes primarily live on this patch of land. With room to create natural dens for those who dislike the human-made options, the land is still fairly open for new families and members to settle comfortably.
  • Spiral Grave: A graveyard decorated with stones, placed within a spiral pattern. The fog is thicker here, adding to the foreboding atmosphere.
  • Outer Tribelands: The swamp continues on for a few miles at all sides. The tribe can wander through the swamp and even settle anywhere within, although most life is found closer to the village.

Once you leave the swamp you'll find it's surrounded by plains and forests, all unnamed and of little interest to the tribe. Players are welcomed to come up with landmarks as they wish, with the understanding that the fog creates a clear divide between the swamplands and surrounding forests/plains.

Ranks are a title given to a member stating their purpose within the tribe and often gives them special privileges and permissions. Responsibility finds all Luminarium members -- even those without a rank. It is generally discouraged to remain rankless, however, as there is always a need for more paws within the other skill-focused ranks, especially with how small Luminarium is.

Every fox is trained for their rank by senior members of their desired rank. Psychologists and Psychiatrists will start as Shamans and receive direct training before they take their future rank.

Foxes are not encouraged to switch ranks outside of Rankless/Member's taking a skill-rank. The Elder has the right to force a fox to switch ranks if they believe they are not suited for their current job, although those instances are rare (and never done OOC, it must be an IC action requested by the player to NymiiNym).

OCC Note: More ranks can be added as time goes on. Players with a fox without a rank can continue to play their fox as normal, but must understand that rankless foxes have a harder time influencing tribe-META.

All Psychiatrists and Psychologists are trained as Shamans before they take their rank, but this is assumed IC. Players should immediately cert their fox under the Psychiatrist/Psychologist rank. You may RP the training period if you wish, but otherwise it is a background event that has happened to your character previously.

A few ranks have perks attached, affecting senses, litter numbers, and more. These ranks are noted here for ease, with their effects listed underneath. Any Head Rank is rewarded through Tribe Events and METAs, with some locked to foxes owned by the tribe owner. They cannot be requested until openings are announced.

OCC Note: Every rank here is officially recognized by the Modifox lore and have in-shop mechanics attached, which must be followed without question. Please read the effects underneath carefully and reference the official Ranks + Abilities guide.

  • Elder: The leader of the tribe. There is only ever 1 at a time, with no exceptions made. Every decision is ran before the Elder in some capacity, with the focus of their leadership being on ensuring the well-being and growth of their tribe.
Pray directly to the Higher Beings and receive an answer.
    All rank-specific abilities.

  • Shaman: A medicine fox for the tribe. There can be an infinite number of Shamans. Shamans use medicine, small amounts of magic, and medical procedures to help heal and restore members of the tribe.
The ability to use small amounts of magic. Nothing extreme like commanding oceans or anything, but small commands over earth, air, water, and fire. Providing some sparks to start a fire, breathing underwater for a minute, causing a fruit to fall from a tree with a small gust of wind, etc.
If a fox is injured, spending time with Shamans means that their wounds can be treated faster and leave minimal scarring.

  • Hunter: The one who brings fresh kill to the tribe and helps Gatherers in collecting other food. They work as a united team to hunt, at times splitting into smaller groups to cover more land.
Heightened natural abilities - hearing, sight, agility, dexterity, etc. They can move quicker, and sense other foxes and creatures quicker and more accurately than others.

  • Gatherer: Collectors of food, herbs, plants, materials, and more. If something is needed then a Gatherer is on the job! Gatherers work closely with Hunters, often carrying home their kills so Hunters can focus on their job.
The ability to use ultrasonic-like pulses, to check surrounding areas for downed prey (not live animals, just kills), herbs, and any other materials. They can't locate specific things, but their ability helps give them a general idea of what items may be in the area around them.

  • Scout: A fox who carries out messages, gathers intelligence for the tribe, and recruits. Most stay near the tribe border, although some are permitted to explore further to return with useful information.
The ability to use telepathy, in order to send news faster. The telepathy is one way and they must be a few miles near the one receiving the message, unless they are talking to another Scout or an Elder.

  • Carer: Foxes who tend to the young and assist Shamans in their day-to-day duties. Kits rarely are out of sight of a local Carer, especially so during a wave of births.
The ability to sense auras for a short moment and get a general idea of what another creature is like (good/bad/neutral/dangerous/etc.), and calm other foxes when they are in distress. They can also communicate telepathically with kits that are still in their BCR stage to understand their basic needs (needing warmth, for example), similar to how Scouts use telepathy, but at a much smaller level.

  • Rankless/Member: A fox lacking a rank, for whatever means. Foxes are discouraged from selecting the Rankless route, as members are more useful selecting a direct rank. Foxes may switch out of this rank.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
The tribe has ranks either unique to them or lacking a perk from the world of Modifox itself. While just as official as the above ranks, these perkless ranks are not recognized by the Deities. Any Head/Captain Rank is rewarded through Tribe Events and METAs, with some locked to foxes owned by the tribe owner. They cannot be requested until openings are announced.

OCC Note: Every rank here is not officially recognized by the Modifox lore, but still play a part in Luminarium story/META.

  • Beta: The second-in-command, who still answers directly to the Elder. The Beta enforces all law and word from the Elder, helping keep the tribe moving smoothly. The Beta can speak for the Elder and reports daily to the Elder. Frequently, the Beta is related to the Elder.

  • Guardians: A role specifically for the draconic Guardians who have joined Luminarium. These creatures protect the tribe physically, focusing on the protection from the outside should a foreign force try and harm the tribe.

  • Psychiatrist: A psychiatrist is a fox who specializes in the study, diagnoses, prevention, and treatment of emotional, mental, behavioral, and developmental issues. Psychiatrists diagnose mental disorders and focus on chemical imbalances in the brain. They can and do prescribe medication after a diagnosis is found, and are in charge of giving medicine to aide those battling mental illness. While they can offer light counseling, they generally refer foxes to Psychologists for additional counseling or therapy.

  • Psychologist: A psychologist is a fox who specializes in the studies of behaviors and mental processes. This includes emotional and cognitive processes, how people interact with their environments, and how people interact with one another. They help patients learn to understand and handle different life problems and mental health issues. They aid in diagnosing and treating mental disorders, commonly with talk therapy. Psychologists help patients conquer addictions, stressful situations, or manage mental illness. They cannot prescribe medicine and work with Psychiatrists when medicine is needed.

The symbol of a fox belonging to the tribe is their lantern, which they must bring with them everywhere they go. The lantern parts the fog from their immediate vicinity and allows them to maneuver freely, although the lantern does not let outsiders in -- it only helps the owner. Lanterns arrive in the dead of night within the home village. The tribe often hangs them, grabbing one for new members as they arrive. Lanterns glow unique colors, often related to the fox who owns it.

The light is eternal, never going out unless the fox is banished or perishes.

The lantern comes in many colors, with no limit as to what colors a fox may find their lantern comes in.

OCC Note: All members must have a lantern, regardless of body edits or form. The lantern can be positioned from various locations on a foxes body, making it easily accessible regardless of fox mutations.

Luminarium has several relations with other tribes and groups, which are noted below. Tribe/group owners may DM/PM Nym to discuss plots, change alignments, and host METAs/events! Yasashii is an active tribe looking for interaction with others. Some tribes allow the exchange of kits, which allow players to easily have a reason why a kit born in Luminarium may have gone to another "sister" tribe.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
  • The Yasashii: Due to Yasashii's focus on physical health, the two exchange patients and materials frequently. Kits also are sent to either tribe at times! If a kit feels like they rather would go into medicinal care they may request Libitana set up an expedition to deliver the kit to Yasashii. Likewise, Yasashii also has the same offer for their kits, assisting them in arriving to Luminarium lands. Luminarium has promised assistance and loyalty in times of strife and distress.

The Luminarium accepts foxes the fog allows through and only those members. It's believed that if the Deity accepts a fox within the lands then they're automatically a good fit. Accepted applicants will have been approved by the fog, so fear not! Color and edits do not matter, although the color green has seemed to dominate members lately.

Foxes may leave Luminarium if they so wish, although the fog will not accept them again. Kits are generally kept within the tribe, with a huge emphasis in the culture of the tribe on remaining within your own. This is exempt for tribes the Luminarium have been noted to trade kits within, although some families do take it hard when their young choose an allied tribe. A fox leaving the tribe entirely (without going to an "allied" tribe) is hard for the tribe to understand, generally. It's an uncommon thing for a fox to do!

Banishing is entirely a player-decided experience. The owner of the tribe can, theoretically, remove any fox from the tribe at any point, but banishment only occurs when a fox does something so drastic that the Deity rejects the fox from the tribe. Players can privately DM/PM requests for banishing.

All forms should be DM'd or PM'd (Discord or Gaia PMs work fine, but Nym is always on Discord and will answer far faster). Please post immediately for your mod once approved, as Nym will immediately handle your mod request!

All new members not born within the tribe must complete their joining encounter!
