Name: Syrus Schreyer
Gender/Pronoun: He/Him
Age: 20
Height: 5'11
Weight: 145
Birthday: September 26th
Sign: Libra
Gemstone: Lapis Lazuli
Blood Type: O+
Fav. Food: Anything Italian, and also fancy charcuterie board. Having little snacks. He adores french-asian bakeries as well.
Hated Food: Anything with gristle or Gritty textures. Tapioca and Boba feel like drinking fish eggs. So no popping anything in his drinks please.
Hobbies:
The Law: The word, the language, the phrasing, the books. He romanticizes old unused Latin like an absolute nerd of a thing. He enjoys the nature of the law, the nooks and crannies and how referencing enough old dead men can warrant loopholes that create vast creative arguments. There's his schooling, which is studying the law, and then there's his hobby, which is the passion that drives him to study such.
Old Films: Syrus is a lover of old films. Noirs, vignette's, the whole like of it. Something about a film done in black and white feels more creative to him, more suspenseful even. He goes out of his way to enjoy them, and if he can enjoy them with friends? The schlockiest of the twilight zone films - all the ketchup used. The horror of Nosferatu. Death playing Chess on a beach in French? The Seventh Seal is a masterpiece, fight him on it.
Occupation: Studying at DCU - Pre-Law student. He's in on a scholarship granted from the state; as he was 18 while still in the DCS care system. It helps that Syrus is rather intelligent, he's never had any issue with doing well in academics and often puts himself to work writing essays to earn extra funds towards his education. Syrus does often pick up part time work during breaks between school.
Home Life: Syrus spent his latter teen years in the system, being shuffled from one group home to another. His salvation lay in school. He's invested all of his self in ensuring his own success. He's only learned since entering college, that success? Is as much a social endeavor as it is a private one, and so he's forced himself to branch out. To make himself enigmatic and visually appealing to others - Syrus wants desperately to be a successful lawyer, a defense lawyer no less. The kind that ends up in the papers. He doesn't want a bunch of pro-bono bullshit, or decades locked in as a court attorney arguing hundreds of traffic ticket and minor theft cases. He admires the likes of Clarence Darrow or Jose Baez - arguably terrible people, but the kind of people who did their jobs so well they went down in infamy. If being well spoken or visually appealing can be an effective enough ploy, if having a 'trick card' up his sleeve will lead him to making himself wealthy and famous? Syrus is happy to travel that path unerringly, smartly, with quiet viciousness, and the tenacity of a slightly more pleasant honey badger.
Virtues:
Ride or Die: When one's inner circle is as small as Syrus's is? One must protect it with all of themselves. Syrus doesn't let many into his bubble, beyond his pristine and polished outer defenses, but those few he does? He'd follow readily into whatever fires they faced. Syrus is more than happy to offer what support he can, from the background, in the shadows, from where he works best. If he's going to give his all he wants to do it in a way that's suited to him. Playing puppet master and pulling strings, doing research and setting pieces up to knock down at appropriate intervals along the way - all for the sake of those he holds dearest. He's not above committing atrocities - so long as he can do it in such a way that suits his very particular style.
Where angels fear to tread - This man drives in with a tank: Syrus walks in - after careful consideration, deliberation, research and recon. Syrus will walk into hell and beyond. So long as he's prepped beforehand. This can make him seem overly cautious and reticent to others. As though he moves in slow motion, where they are all go. It can make him seem like a stick in the mud, which is fine with him, he doesn't like unknowns, surprises, or taking risks without being fully prepped for multiple scenarios of fallout. Backup plans for his backup plans - because everyone wants to go hiking in the middle of summer, and man doesn't it suck when they get caught 3 miles out with a broken ankle and a dead cell phone? Who brought the extra-extra water and solar chargers? Syrus did - not because he was trying to be a picky a** and over scrutinize every detail - but was smart enough to plan for chaos - thank you very much.
Flaws:
If Mules were people: Stubborn - and it's not that his mind can't be changed, he's not unreasonable or shortsighted, but god is it like pulling teeth from a tiger shark to get him to flip his script. He is dog with a bone argumentative, and needs to be bullied into most things - bodily - verbally, etc. Drag him along and he'll keep going on about his own damned opinion, until something is presented firmly enough to change it.
An absolute a**: Every compliment is backhanded, fronthanded, frontloaded and fully loaded with some level of snark, sarcasm, and general shitheelness. All sorts of "You look so much better in that color" and "I'm so proud of you for managing to get it right this time." and "I did not expect you to be able to manage this type of work load. Good for you." if his compliments could have addendums they'd be written in *bitchineese*. Its a terrible habit he has when talking to people he thinks are far, far, far, beneath him. Luckily for him, the people he speaks to that way? Well he doesn't expect to ever see them again, so why go for full politeness and coifed collected pc drivel, when he can make those he views as less than intelligent feel good while getting his digs in.
