Geo sighed as he closed the office to his General's door and started to make his way through the castle to get back out. He had made the bare minimum of energy quotas and his General had scolded him for not doing more. It left a bad taste in his mouth. He wasn't wanting to do all of this in the first place, so hearing he had to do more than he had already done... It annoyed him. He decided to take a seat on one of the random benches that were inside of the castle, putting his elbows on his legs and his head in his hands and sighing. He just wanted to get out of here already! Why were they asking so much of someone who was forced to be in all of this in the first place!? It was then that he thought he heard footsteps along the hallway and lifted his head up to see if he could see who they were. Not that he wanted to talk necessarily, but the more information that he gained about other Agents before going to the other side, the better if he retained his powered memories.

Lieutenant Roslite didn’t often wander the halls if he didn’t have to. The Dark Kingdom could be a frightening place, and that included the castle. Sometimes he came across youma; a few of them liked to n** at him when he passed. Sometimes he ran into an unfriendly General, who might bark an order at him he wasn’t prepared to fulfill.
But he had to. Roselite did everything he could to prove himself useful during the day-to-day operations at the castle. He wasn’t any good in battle, so he had to be good at this.
Which occasionally meant running errands — fetching long lost files, making coffee, cleaning some of the dusty, cluttered rooms. Roselite didn’t mind. He liked the menial tasks. Sometimes, if he did a particularly good job, or was seeing to the request of a particularly appreciative agent, he might even be praised for his efforts.
He was on his way to hunt down an old file when he came upon a Captain sitting on a bench.
“Um… hello,” he said.
Roselite wouldn’t normally stop for a chat, but the Captain looked up when he turned down the hall, and after making eye contact, Roselite thought it was only polite to greet him.
“I… um… sorry for disturbing you.”

Geo raised an eyebrow at the Lieutenant. He didn't understand why the other was apologizing to him until he remembered the rank difference. Of course it shouldn't have been surprising, but it was yet another reminder of how much he wanted to get away from this place. He shook his head. "You didn't disturb me. Well, I guess you did, but sometimes disturbances from your thoughts are good things." He replied, standing up to look at the Lieutenant. He had a much nicer uniform that Geo did at least. "What's your name Lieutenant?" If he was going to be talking to any other Agents, he wanted information on them.

Roselite offered a tentative smile, unsure what to make of this Captain just yet. At least he didn’t seem immediately terrifying.
“I’m Roselite, sir,” he said, respectful as always.
His eyes shifted, gaze flicking around the hall, unable to maintain eye contact for long. At least he was able to stand at attention instead of hunching in on himself shyly. It wasn’t always easy to fight through his timid nature enough to do that, but he was getting better at it.
“Um… is there anything… I mean, if you needed to be… um… disturbed from your thoughts…” Roselite stopped, swallowed, forced himself to continue. “Is there anything I can do for you?”
The file could wait, just this once. He wasn’t working under a deadline, at least.

Geo couldn't blame the Lieutenant for being so nervous around him. He probably thought that Geo was annoyed for being interrupted while he was thinking. If he could, he would have told him that it was a good thing that he did. It made his anxiety spike when he thought about such things. He decided that he would need to introduce himself to the other as well. He didn't want to appear to be suspicious. "I'm Geocronite." He shook his head at the other's question. "No... I don't need anything. It's good to see new faces though, no matter how long they have been here." Of course for him it was not nice to meet them, but any information he could gather would be the best. "Do you come to the Castle a lot?" Maybe he could get some other information out of him, his Captain or General, what he did, anything he could pass on.

“Nice to meet you,” Roselite mumbled, which probably made it seem like it wasn’t nice to meet him. It was, so far, but Roselite was never sure who actually liked the polite niceties and who would rather not be bothered with them.
At least this one seemed friendly enough. Roselite didn’t relax entirely, but he could begin to believe he wasn’t about to be snapped at.
“I’m here most days, yes, sir,” he said. “I… There’s usually a lot of paperwork to be done, so… I do it when I can, and since I—” Don’t really have a legitimate job. “—have a lot of time on my hands, I—… The castle has become familiar. Some parts of it, anyway. I’ve only been here since… February? I think…”
As focused as he often was on the work, it was easy to lose track of time. Five months seemed like a long time and at short time at once.
“But you… to be a Captain… you must have been around for some time…”

Geo wondered if such a Lieutenant as this one would ever be able to rise up in the ranks considering how nervous he appeared to be. Was that due to a "wanting to be praised/noticed" nervousness or "I don't want to get in trouble" nervousness. He wasn't sure, but wouldn't be surprised at either one. "I've been here three years. I'm sure you'll get used to it over time." Unlike himself. "You come into the Negaverse willingly?" If the other was anything like him, it wouldn't have been, but Geo displayed more anger than nervousness when he was recruited. "It's good that you're getting things done around here though. I know that we're often out in the field collecting energy, so having some help with papers is appreciated."

Roselite managed another timid smile. Paperwork didn’t seem like a significant job, but it was still nice to be appreciated from time to time.
“I… um…” Willingly? “Yes, sir.”
Did he understand Bloodstone’s reasons for recruiting him? No, but Bloodstone insisted he had them, and Roselite no longer felt the need to question it. He was satisfied enough with his work that the whys of it no longer seemed important.
Maybe it would be again, later, when the subject of promotion came up.
“I was recruited by Captain Bloodstone. He… saw potential in me.” Roselite’s eyes lowered, like he thought it might seem as if he were bragging by saying that and he felt shame for it. “I’m happy to help however I can. The Negaverse’s mission… it’s important, so… I’m honored to be a part of it.”
Teal eyes lifted again to ask, “Why?”

Perhaps that question had been a bit too far, and Geo decided to back track. "Nothing important. I know that sometimes they like to recruit people who are less... willing, but eventually they start to change their minds. I'm glad-" He wasn't. "to see that you came in willingly."It was more sad that it had happened, but he was surprised a Captain had done so. Perhaps the corruption hadn't been done by the Captain then? They had been warned that they shouldn't corrupt people into Lieutenants. That usually lead to half or full Youma. Bloodstone was another name to add to his notes of Agents. "I'm glad that you are." Geo said with a smile. "I'll let you get back to your papers then. I'm glad I could meet another Agent." He said giving the other a "nod of approval". With that he started to walk off, hopefully looking like he was doing so casually than feeling like he needed to run the h*** out of there. Sunshine Alouette I think that's good enough to raise Roselite's suspicious if you want to end it with your next post. If not we can have it go on longer!

“I… um…”
Roselite watched the Captain turn to leave, thrown by the abrupt shift.
Perhaps there was no reason for it. If Bloodstone was any indication, Captains were frequently busy. Geocronite likely had other obligations to see to, and it was true that Roselite had responsibilities of his own. They shouldn’t stand around for long and chat.
But the initial question was odd, wasn’t it? You came into the Negaverse willingly? As if Geocronite expected he might not have been, because of… what? His temperament? Roselite might look and behave as if he didn’t belong, but lack of confidence or skill and occasional disagreement in the more violent aspects of the Negaverse had nothing to do with his belief in their mission. The Earth was in peril, and Roselite would do all he was capable of to see that it was protected.
Or did Geocronite pose the question based on prior experience?
Roselite almost called out to him, almost asked about Geocronite’s days as a Lieutenant, almost questioned him about how his recruitment affected him now, if he was having or had ever had second thoughts, but Geocronite was a Captain. His turning to walk away was practically a dismissal.
So Roselite stood silently and watched him, kept his concern to himself, and when Geocronite was out of sight, Roselite returned to his search for the missing file.
Perhaps he’d encounter Geocronite again at a more convenient time, and he could satisfy his curiosity.SSBrosB That's a wrap then! Thank you for the RP! If you'd like to follow up on this, let me know and I can always start something!
