It's a nice escape from the big city; it’s a five minute drive outside of the Eastern side of town and features clear water and sandy beaches--although, the sand here is notorious for squeaking when you step on it. It’s a hot spot for all fun summer activities, but recently something strange has been happening under the water. Sometimes, people feel like something is grabbing their ankle, even if they are just wading in the shallow end. In the deeper parts of the water, it gets a little more intense: something has been said to grab onto ankles and pull. People have been warned about dangerous pranks, but so far no one has been caught. In the shallow end, anyone unfortunate enough to be targeted may feel themselves being knocked off their feet and tugged into the water; anyone in deep water may feel a firm grip on their ankle, tugging them lower and lower. Somehow, anyone it targets is freed--either by wriggling and fighting, or because someone intervenes and pulls the would-be victim up. No one has drowned in the lake. Yet. It's impossible to see who, or what, is doing this, but it usually gives up after one failed attempt. Usually.
SQUEEK
The fact that the sand squeezed was one of the most bizarre things Mourite had ever heard of or seen. It was like the beach was one giant squeaky toy. For what? Well, he removed his shoes and rolled up his uniform's pants over his knees. He was gunna find out. For science. Clearly. And not in case the Negaverse had let loose some sort of cowardly youma in the lake.
The water lapped at his ankles, shockingly cold against the fading heat of the day, and he buried his toes into the sand. If nothing else, it was nice to just sort of soak his feet.
Something curled around his ankle and Mourite yanked his leg out of the water.
Nothing.
Well, ********.
An order signature stronger than he flared on his radar too.

He wasn't sure what exactly was bothering him, but working at the Reservoir had been a lot harder since the festival had started. The frequency of partial drownings had increased and even the lifeguards had thought about asking the city to shut down activities in the water because of how much work they were having to do to keep people alive. Which is why he had come out here at this time, he wanted to see if he could find anything responsible for what was going on. Last time something weird had happened here, he had heard it was some sort of monster. But from the stories of the people he had pulled out of the water, it felt as though something had grabbed onto them. And if they were just pranks, then wouldn't it be easy to find who was doing it? After all, in the shallower end the water was a bit clearer and no one could stay underwater for that long... Which meant it was something else, and possibly something with a chaos aura. His suspicious were only heightened when he felt one as he moved around the Resevoir and made his way over to the Agent. They appeared to be a Lieutenant, so no weapon at this time, but could still be plenty dangerous if they knew what they were doing. He kept his harp on his back, it wouldn't be of any use in this battle. He was about to address the Lieutenant when suddenly it appeared that they had been effected by whatever it was too! His life guarding instincts kicked in and he ran over and grabbed the Lieutenant, attempting to yank him out of the water, or at least keep him from getting pulled in!

Of all the things Mourite was expecting the Squire to do it was not "grab him by the shoulders and pull him out of the water." He screeched - a very high pitched and childlike sound almost - and began to flail in the Squire's hands. What was it with all these damn knights confusing the s**t out of him about how the whole war thing worked!? First Dinara being a generally good person, to this squire here trying to save his life from whatever was in the lake? Like who does that!? Plus that senshi that slapped him silly??
"What the hell!? LET ME GO YOU STUPID PRISSY MAN!" he shouted over his shoulder at the squire, jerking this way and that trying to get loose. Not only did the whole action give him a good flash of his father doing something similiar, but this was a squire of order. This dude was more powerful than him and had his hands on him and just no off off offffff!!!!
There was a part of his mind that went "wow Ren, call him a prissy man? Really? That's what you came up with? You're better than that you know. You should have gone with something more substantive and impressive if you wanted to do a real blow to his ego. Always a damn disappointment." He recognized that it was some stupid brain worm that sounded like his father of all people and he was really, really not okay with that whole thing. He was out from his father's thumb, he should be past this already ******** gritted his teeth and slammed an elbow backwards towards the squire's stomach. He'd break free of this situation and respond in kind damnit. Ugh of all the days to be out here alone and by himself! He should have just investigated and left when he had the chance but no. No he had to be nosey.

Sumner probably should have expected the elbow to the stomach, but didn't, which cost him the air currently residing in his lungs and he immediately let go of the Lieutenant, coughing a bit as he did so. Now he was annoyed. Not about the Lieutenant hitting him, but the fact that he wasn't appreciative of being saved from drowning. Since he worked here, he had to rescue quite a few people a day from this weird magical attempted drowning stuff, and the Lieutenant couldn't even say thanks! When he regained his breath he stood up and glared at the Lieutenant. "What the HELL?! Is that how you thank someone who saved your life? You're lucky you didn't drown! I could have left you there you know!" And he probably should have, but even if the other was an Agent, he couldn't just let people die on his watch like that. Maybe if they were in the middle of a battle, but he still didn't feel comfortable doing it. a-disgruntled-dragon 461 words with this post, so we can do one more from both of us!

"No one's drowned yet! I was only ankle deep in anyway!" groaned Mourite, rubbing his temples. He was having a hell of a day and by gods did he just sort of want to go home now.
Why did every single person he came across get affronted when he reacted with violence?!
Mourite groaned again and sighed. "Okay, sorry. That was uncalled for. But how else am I supposed to react when a member of order - more powerful than me mind you! - grabs me from behind!" He crossed his arms and huffed.
"Thanks, I guess, for not letting me drown," he added, glancing away from the squire.

Sumner sighed. He had done it again, used his life guard voice against someone else. "I'm sorry as well. I should understand that just because I saved someone doesn't mean that they're going to be happy about it." He said. He understood, it was just hard not to separate being a life guard and being a Squire sometimes. When he saw someone drowning he couldn't help but want to save them, no matter the side. He backed off from the other a bit, just in case the Agent still felt like fighting. He could see that the Agent appeared to be fine. "All right, well now I'm going to have to ask you to go on your way unless you have some not energy draining related business around here."

Mourite shrugged. "Whatever grabbed me already left so not much else for me here. Don't worry, ain't gunna drain anyone one the way out," he said, turning to walk away.
He gave a wave and slinked into the shadows.
