”Starlight Cookies and Moonlight Milk (4) :” A new shop has opened up, just in time for the Star Festival! It doesn’t have anything on the menu except for Starlight Cookies and Moonlight Milk, but they are the talk of the town! Everyone who’s anyone has tried them, and without a doubt, they’re the most delicious things that they’ve ever tasted! Though...the reviews don’t mention that after you've had any, your eyes begin to glow strangely and sparkle like little galaxies are swirling within them. It’s beautiful, if a little strange! The effect fades after an hour, and your vision isn’t impacted...though, if you go to try the cookies again, the shop seems to have disappeared… It was a hungry Friday. That was about the only good thing that Jada had to say about it thus far, and as far as complimentary phrases went ‘hungry’ was probably damning with no praise. She’d had an early morning conference call with her father and the Board, desperately needed a new accountant, and probably needed a new Personal Assistant as well. Breakfast had been coffee picked up from a gas station across from her building downtown, and a granola bar; frankly, lunch wasn’t looking to be much better. At least- it wasn’t… until she saw it. A shimmering sign. Advertising cookies. Sweets that the dark-haired woman had heard not a single negative thing about- one review had, in fact, said that they were basically Ambrosia. Nectar of the Gods. Another had called it a religious experience, and multiple reviews of the ‘Starlight’ cookies said they were ‘Out of this World’. Cookies were not, admittedly, the lunch of champions. Nor was milk her beverage of choice. But she could always dump the milk into a huge cup of coffee, right? Not that coffee was the lunch of champions either, especially when it had also been breakfast. There were, however, sacrifices that must be made every so often in order to keep her money flowing like water. Her stomach had been through a lot worse than a day of rot-gut coffee and pure sugar, and it wasn’t like she was getting much full-body modeling work, so indulging in some pure sugar on a painful day was the least of her problems. Besides- wasn’t that why she exercised? She could make up for it tomorrow, take the kids out to that organic breakfast place down the street and get some protein and something healthy. So, after a moment of thought, the woman turned on one overpriced stiletto heel and made her way back to join the very short queue at the cookie shop, bright red purse swinging at her side. Pulling out her phone, Jada took the opportunity to ignore the world around her and poke around on social media, catching up on some photos of Zora’s ‘grand European adventure’ and a few of the kitten rehab ladies she followed. Of course, being on social media meant that Jada had to take a picture of the quaint little cookie shop itself for sharing; if they had cookies as delicious as everyone else insisted, maybe she would even come back for some more? They would probably be a hit with the family, as everyone in the household had a terrible sweet tooth. She was positioning her phone for another quick selfie to post up, when someone in the background of her potential photo caught her eye, and the woman shut down her camera, spinning around. “Genevieve!” She hadn’t seen the other woman in quite a while, and she lifted a hand, waving frantically. Jada hoped she wouldn’t have to get out of the line to go and collect the other woman, and so she ignored the ugly glare from the person standing behind her as she took a deep inhale and bellowed out with her ‘Mommy Voice’- “Genevieve! Hi!”

Genevieve had heard about the newest talk of the city, it really shouldn't be a shock to anyone that she'd heard about the place, and the talk was all good. The place only served two things, milk and cookies, and normally she'd have scoffed at such a thing but the reviews from all sorts of people. That was what had her attention and had convinced her to go.
Dressed to the nines, as some might say, Genevieve made her way towards the newest eartery in the city. She really wasn't a fan of miilk but cookies weren't bad, she really didn't need to worry about her weight or anything of the sort. She had a small gym in her home, or rather her parents did, and it was put to usee several times a week. Whatever she might gain from the cookies would in no time be worked away.
Pushing open the door she stepped inside and inhaled - oh what a delicous smell. The voice she heard soon after was not one she was expecting, she adn't head from Jada in a while. It was alomost enough to bring tears to her eyes. After Christabelle had moved out she'd been alone again and she felt it even more than she used to. She had no one to patrol with or explore her homeworld with. It was lonely being a senshi on your own.
Walking over quickly, heels clicking away, Genevieve made her way right to Jada and entering the others personal space drew her into a hug. "I've missed you." Ignoring the people behind Jada she held onto the other. "I thought I'd never hear from you again...and Christabelle just vanished - moved out without warning. I've been alone and work has been slow." As an independant party planner work was never easy to come by but it hadn't been too terribly hard for her, not with the circles she moved in, but most people went with companies which had more resources and such. She understood it but she didn't like it.
It left too much time on her hands and meant a lot of time was spent with her cats. Time she should have spent powered up, at least some of it anyway.

Her calling out to the other woman was rewarded by the way Genevieve's face seemed to almost brighten, and the fashionable girl clicked her way over to Jada, who welcomed her hug with joy. "I'm sorry I sort of dropped off the face of the earth," Jada said into the other woman's hair, knowing the joke wouldn't be missed by the other senshi, "life kind of called and everything else was taking back seats." Work was a pain, and raising three kids wasn't exactly a part-time job, even when one had help. Sometimes time flew by, and the next thing one knew it was about 2 years later... When she allowed her friend to release the hug, she pulled Genevieve forward with her in line, her arm sliding through the brunette's. They were, now, members of the same dining party, and the grumpy people behind her could choke on their complaints. "I'm sorry to hear she moved out." Jada's brow furrowed and she bit her lip- that disappearance seemed so unlike the Christa that Jada knew, but she could worry about that later. Squeezing Genevieve's arm, Jada said, "And I'm sorry I've been so busy. I should have texted or something, just to keep in better touch. Hope had started school, and I've been traveling back and forth to NYC working with Daddy on things." She felt terrible, thinking that the other woman had felt alone- what a bad friend she'd been! "I'm only a text away though," she chided gently, patting her friend on the arm, "You shouldn't have thought you wouldn't have heard from me again. I've had the same phone number since I was 15, and it isn't going to be changing any time soon. When I'm being a bad friend, you call me out on it. You still have my number saved, right?" Jada would certainly make sure Genevieve did before they left- two years without so much as a text? Jada was going to count herself lucky she'd not gotten the cold shoulder! As they neared the counter, Jada cheerfully told the cashier, "Three orders of the Starlight cookies and one Moonlight milk, please." nodding to Genevieve she added, "And whatever my friend is having." She was hungry, okay?

A soft, almost choked, laugh escaped her at Jada's joke. It wouldn't surprise her if they could all in fact somehow drop right off the face of the earth, though she supposed they could by going to homeworlds and such. "I know how that can be, though work has been slow for me. I just don't want to join an event planning company. I'd rather work on my own or for someone I know." Not some strangers who she didn't know and who didn't know her, who didn't know about the senshi thing. If she ever decided t oget really serious about it, like she had been getting with Jada and Christa, it would be nice if a boss knew about it.
"It's alright, my parents are always busy as well." Something she'd grown up being used to. A big house with only her home a good portion of the time, it was one reason she'd invited Christa to move in with her. But the other was gone and her parents were out a bit less than they used to be but they still found enough time to be out of the area, at least she had cats now.
"We'll have to keep in better touch, I should have texted as well. I suppose I was upset over the loss of Christa." And not having Jada round either. It felt like she had no reason to power up, no one like her was around in her life.
"We both need to be better friends. I want to do better...and I just want a friend like me." A senshi, especially someone who had more experience than she herself did.
"Two cookies and a milk. Are you sure it's on you?" She asked, turning her attention from the cashier to Jada.
"You need to tell me what you've been up to, how the little ones are doing, over the cookies. I don't know a thing about children." None for herself and honestly she wasn't even dating, though she did wish she had someone in her life. She just hadn't had much luck in the way of roamnce.

Score! The soft laugh from her friend brought a bright, open smile to the older woman's face, and her eyes crinkled with warmth as she listened to Genevieve speak. "If you're staying out of the red, then you're fine. You could always try and look for consultant work, just to get your foot in the door, or look for additional work outside of the direct industry- Admin assistants, or a design company, or try and branch out into something like weddings or corporate events if you don't already?" Jada pursed her lips thoughtfully. "We'll have to get together and discuss where you're involved sometime- I may have some people I can introduce you to." Her brow furrowed as Genevieve seemed more and more downcast as she looked- between Christa leaving, and her parents being out of town, it made Jada feel terrible. She had rather left the other senshi out in the cold, hadn't she? Well. That would need to change. Pulling out her phone, Jada quickly tapped herself a weekly reminder to text Gene; if things started to slip her mind, she would get a reminder to not be a trash friend! "It's reasonable to be upset, especially if you didn't have any warning that she was planning on leaving." It seemed so unlike the other woman, and Jada's lips pursed as she wondered what could have... "Yes. I'm positive it is on me." Money was hardly an issue for her, after all, and buying an old friend something to further sweeten up their day was one of the best possible ways to spend it. Jada passed over her black card, and reached out to snag a Sapphire star charm, waving it at Genevieve. "Grab one of these too. They're popping up everywhere. Volunteers and local businesses are giving them out and they're so cute." She signed her receipt and stepped over to wait for the cookies to be bagged and the milk to be poured, eyes brightening. "I will be happy to tell you everything you can bear to know once we sit down," Jada agreed with a laugh, "I even have pictures. Hope is turning 6 in less than a month and I'm not ready. They grow up so fast."

"I'm out of the red, no problems there. I'd rather be a little less needy of my parents but they understand. I'd rather work for myself." She wanted the independance and understanding that came with it. If she worked for somoene like herself she'd be more willing but otherwise she'd keep her freedom. "I hadn't thought of admin work...but a design company I could do. I just worry about the other side of our lives and how that might impact things. The next event I'm working on I'll find a way to let you know so whoever you think would be interested i nseeing what I can do could come." Any chance to show off her work, her ability to plan, design, and host would be be appreciated. She knew she could do the work and could get clients if only they saw her work and didn't go for big companies.
"No - no warning. She was just gone. Maybe she went back there." Casting her eyes upwards to silently give the meaning behind her words. "I think that's where she was before...I'm certain she said something about that. I don't go much myself, I was but then I stopped." Life got in the way a bit plus there wasn't much to do there aside from explore. She couldn't bring enough tools with her to prune plants and it wasn't like she could do much for repairs and lighting and such.
"They are cute...I think I'll grab a red one though - matches my clothing." Not what she was wearing right gnow but what she wore if she powered up. Grabbing one of the red charms it was slipped into her purse with a smile on her face. "I don't think I've ever collected these in the past, but I do think they are cute."
Following her friend she shook her head laughing. "I'm sure I can handle listening to whatever you want to say. I don't understand them growing so fast though but I hear it often enough, so I sort of get it. I would, I think, like to meet them all one day. The little ones and spend more time with you and them." Maybe as a sort of aunt in the future, not something she was thinking of right now though.
"It would be funny if some dayI got to work for you." She was joking, of course, but Jada did have several children and Genevieve was an event planner. It might happen one day.

"The thought with the admin side of things was more exposure to other clients and how the process works rather than long-term adminning. A design company could do the same thing." Genevieve had a point, however, about the 'other side' of things. "When I worked it got difficult sometimes with the night life. But at the time I was working in an office, it didn't really impact much of my side work because they had more flexible hours. I suppose the harder part would be lack of good workers comp in the side gig." Jada collected the cookies from the cashier and one of the milks. She led her friend over towards one of the shaded tables, plopping herself down on a bench and turning sideways, silently encouraging the other woman to sit on the same side as her. "I still go 'home' quite a lot. Not that I have much of a choice." The first time she had stayed away from Scylla too long and she had started feeling so terrible... "If she's gone home at least we know she's safe." there wasn't much else to be said. They would have known if Christa had been killed. "Sometimes I don't understand them growing quickly either. It just feels like I was graduating high school a couple of years ago, and yet time has been a runaway train and everything consolidates and next thing you know you think you're still going to be throwing a party for a newborn, but you blink and she's an eight-year-old who wants to be a Princess, but you blink again and now she's eleven, and you don't know where the little Princess has gone because she's needing a training bra, and already talking about her friends going to high school. But it's only been a few weeks, maybe a few months, of the workday grind." Jada smiled at the other senshi, eyes bright and warm. "You should come over for dinner this weekend, then. It is summer, so we won't have to worry about late nights or homework. Hope and the twins all have birthdays in July, so they can tell you all about their party plans."

"That and understanding if inured, due to the night life, or if something goes wrong at an event." If something went as terribly wrong as possible, which in this city was totally possible. This city had a way of ruining everything which happened, no matter who was behind it, it somehow all managed to go wrong somehow. "Or even if something happens and we wind up somewhere for a long period of thime. I hear dof people vanishing for days or weeks..." That would without a doubt impact work and could cost her a job. "It's not easy trying to balance both lives...butg I want to - I feel like I should." That she needed to be a proper senshi and give it more time and energy. It was just that she needed to balance it and make sure both sides were in some sort of harmony.
Following her friend she took a seat slowly, looking over the cookies the other had. They really did look, and smell, amazing.
"Is she though? I mean what about foods and interaction with other people?" Questioning softly as she sat at the others side. "I know there is no life on my own home...and I don't know about food...maybe fruit trees or something like that." But that didn't seem a sufficient answer to the need for food.
Laughing she set a hand on her friends shoulder. "it sounds like a lot. Though if you t ell her about your night life perhaps she can at least be a princess...or something similar. I mean yo uare - aren't you?" In a way couldn't they all call themselves royalty? They could name themselves whatever they wanted of their homeworlds. These worlds up in space were theirs and no one else lived there...no one else could claim to be from them either, at least in most cases...knights aside. So they could fancy themselves whatever they wanted and claim whatever home they wanted, out of whatever remained on their individual homeworlds. They could "form alliances" and other things and do what they wanted in a sense.
In a way it was all random nonsense and childish but in a way it was, or could be, serious. What if they did tell people, normal people, about their homeworlds and start appointing them titles and calling them things. Could magic grant them powers or tie them to plants? How else would their homeworlds ever gain life on them again? It had to start somewhere...or were they always be dead and lonely...would Christa remain up there alone? If she was indeed up there again.
Pulled away from her thoughts, before she could voice them, Genevieve nodded her head smily. "I'd like that. I can even cook and bring over a dish or two as well. I can surprise you all with something. It would be nice. Maybe, if you aren't too busy, we can start going out at night once a week? I can see Scylla? I'll show you my home as well...." Something she'd only shown Christa till now. She wanted to share it with someone though.
"Think dark victorian and goth...but elegant. It's pretty in a way, not something I'd normally like but it's grown on me over time." It might be darker than she used to like but it was just as elegant, and expensive looking, as she prefered. Reaching for a cookie she grabbed one and placed it into the others hand.

Jada's face was expressive, a litany of thoughts crossing her face from Valid to We don't ALWAYS wind up vanishing. "I was a cat." she muttered to Genevieve. "One year. At Thanksgiving. I got turned into a cat and lost my job and almost got evicted from the place I was staying while I tried to rebel against my parents." Their 'night life' had taken her 'day life' from bad to worse, so she could certainly... empathize... with Genevieve's concerns over it. "Sometimes the hardest things are worth it, though. Not for everyone, and I've had to figure out where I'm willing to bend." Thoughtfully, Jada took a bite of a cookie, considering what she knew of their mutual friend. "She's like me," Jada said at last, referring to her own Transcension, "She's... not as bad off, at home. Besides, it isn't like Christa doesn't know how to come back and go to a grocery store." a small smile was given to the other senshi. "Could just be that we haven't seen her because she needs her space." Her face brightened at the idea of having someone she could regularly go on patrol with, eyes almost glowing. "We can do that! The cooking thing, and the night adventures. I won't cook, because I am apparently a food assassin, but I can reheat like a champ. Giulia and Hope are both excellent chefs-to-be, however, and would probably get a kick out of joining you in a kitchen while Aidan and I taste-test." she leaned forward, lips widening and eyes almost... sparkling. Possibly with something other than delight. "I can't wait to see it." Jada's nod was firm as she took a drink of her milk, and accepted the cookie pressed into her hand. "My own 'home' may be constantly entertaining, but sometimes you need a new view." She pulled out her cell phone, flipping through to her calendar. "Tuesday nights are still family dinner nights, so I'm not free until late on those nights, but I'm much more flexible than I used to be with the other nights. And the summer camps should be starting soon, so my days will have some extra flexibility." The senshi of the Kraken wasn't quite certain how to bring up the fact that her family was all well aware of her night life now, thanks to a certain chibi senshi. So... she didn't.

"A cat..." She echoed the others words but listened as Jada spoke. That sounded both horrifying, and dangerous, but also interesting and freeing in a way. There was so many things which could easily go bad while being a cat. "I think I'm still tryhing to figure ou t where I'll bend...but still. Even if I find it there will always be things we can't predict." Injuries, vanishing, and other things. Jada had mentioned loss of a job and that was what she feared if she worked elsewhere, for someone who didn't know. Something normal and mundane seeming could take her out of work for days or weeks, depending on what happened.
"Could be....and her home isn't that bad...that's good. Mine is just old homes - lots of them." Fancy homes, lots of fancy gothic looking homes. They looked like the perfect movie set for some movie being done about magic, horror, halloween, witches and other sorts of things. It really wasn't a surprise though since she was the senshi of vampires. The gothic vibe was just her thing it seemed, though not as a civilian. She should go there more, she needed to, there was something about it all which she did like. She wouldn't go living there though, not as the homes were. She prefered the modern home she had here and now.
"Ohhh, I'd like that. I'd like to join in with things." To feel apart of something, to do more with someone who was also a senshi. To join in on family things. She was an only child and while she had cousins, aunts, and uncles it wasn't the same. She didn't see her cousins and such often, they lived elsewhere, and her parents were so busy. She didn't seem them sometimes for days, though it had been getting better. It was why she had several cats...they gave her love and she returned it all and then some.
"We can make time whenever you want. Once I get done eating dinner and feeding the cats I'm free...and my homeworld would be the perfect set for a victorian gothic movie...something with witches and such. I like it and I don't like it at the same time. Christa loved it for the decor...the solid old fashioned, well put together, look of it all. But your home world is constantly entertaining...I can't wait to see what you mean by that." Taking a few bites from her cookie, and washing it down with some milk. "Also, these cookies are amazing. I doubt they'll give us a recipie but I really hope this place stays open." Knowing this city who knows what might happen to this place. This city did a lot of strange things and shops came and went rather often.Infinities Bit late on this but real life has been insane.

Jada nodded to the other woman, acknowledging that point; always, ALWAYS things that couldn't be predicted. "I've been lucky," she admitted, "Back when the worst was happening to me, it was easy to explain away. I was rebellious. I sought trouble, and danger. Wrong place, wrong time. People looked at me and saw a teenage girl who was too spoiled to possibly be involved in any of her own misfortune. But things still happened to me even after I left Destiny City, and I realized that it wasn't just... my gifts causing misfortune. Bad things happen everywhere, anytime, to anyone." She dropped her chin to her fist, listening to Genevieve speak. "I can't wait to see it, then, when you invite me." She'd never actually seen Nephthys, though they'd talked about it, and that needed resolution. "I don't mind gothic. I bet we could have one hell of a time with a Ouija board, though that could also be the WORST idea." Lips quirking in a smile, Jada added, "Well, let me know when you want to come over. I'll introduce you to the terrible trio: Giulia, Aidan, and Hope. We have a cat, too, but he's getting on in years and grumpier than ever. And occasionally Hope's father and uncle come by with extended family. Nieces, Nephews, Cousins." the drama around the details was... well. Complicated. She was getting ready to take another bite of her own cookies, delighted with the entire conversation, when something... caught her eye. "Geeeeeeeeeeenevieve?" she drew out the other woman's name, hesitantly. "Let me see your eyes, please." Her own were starting to shimmer, but of course Jada couldn't see that. All she could see was a slightly glowing sparkle, she thought, in the depths of her companion's eyes. Sleet Tempest Snxxxape No worries, I'm just trying to do better on keeping up with them all <3

For someone like herself explaining things, especially at this age, as being a rebel or bad things just happening to her...it seemed like it would be near impossible. She was an adult now and such things would be hard to explain away to a job or anything like that, even her parents when they were around - especially her parents in fact. They knew her best.
"It could be the best idea, like you said, it would be interestring. I imagin if lots of people could be brought up there it would be good for a Halloween party as well." In fact, she was sure anything remotely spooky would fair well on her planet, it was fitting, and she didn't mind talking about it really. "If people lived there again....it would be even better." She still didn't know much of the way people had lived back then, when her home had still had a native population. She did imagine it was rather prim and proper though...something formal and dark...elegant.
"I have a few cats, all rescues. I couldn't help myself really." They'd caught her attention and she couldn't seperate siblings...so she had adopted them all. She had more than enough room and her parents hadn't minded - they'd understood. Of course they'd understood when she'd explained things to them, as she knew they would, they understood the compassion and soft side to her that would have teared up over the idea of seperating siblings who had collectivly survived someone trying to kill them all.
"I'll text you when I'm free to come over and spend an evening. I'll bring food, like I said, and we can discuss visiting homes...proper homes." And maybe one day there would be a way to bring a bunch of people to homeworlds and she could do something for Halloween! Something big and fun.
"My eyes?" Nothing felt off....but as she leaned in she noted the others eyes were off also... "Jada...your eyes also...I think." Assuming Jada was seeing the same thing she was.Infinities Big old manor homes, cobble stones, long driveways, and all darker in color and goth in design. Yes, her home world needs to find a way to allow lots of people for Halloween and something with a Ouija board, lol.

"A Halloween party would be fantastic," Jada said with a sigh, "I hope there's something fun this year. A few years ago I tried to help Giulia throw a masquerade with hay rides at the mansion; it was fun. Lots of leftovers. But the ambiance just wasn't quite right. I'm sure a place like yours could pull off a fantastic event." There had to be ways to bring extra people to homeworlds, right? The Zodiacs and the Surrounding had passports- surely there had been such a thing for quick and efficient travel for senshi, especially those who considered themselves under command of the White Moon. "Nothing wrong with having multiple cats if you can support and care for them all." Jada's tone was firm. "I would probably have a lot more if it weren't for Hope and the twins; they are all begging for a dog again, though. I'm not sure how Catstor will take it. He's ruled the roost for over a decade now." Beaming, Jada nodded her head. "I can't wait. It will be so nice to have an ally against the tyranny of my siblings and child. Whatever they offer you to join in on teasing me, I'll double it." Glancing around, there didn't seem to be anyone else having a similar 'issue' in the area, but if they both were... chewing on her lip, Jada shoved the last of her cookies in her mouth. "I sense shenanigans afoot, my friend. Delicious shenanigans, but shenanigans."

"Oh, it could. The problem would be getting everyone there." But it was an idea, something she would like to explore. It seemed impossible though. "Is there an easy way to get so many people to one place, I've not heard of anything." Keeping her voice low, dropping it to a whisper, as she spoke. She didn't want to be overheard, even if she tried to keep the conversation normal sounding.
Laughing she shook her head. "I'll always side with you, don't worry." Nodding her head as she finished off a cookie herself, and a good portion of her drink as well. "I agree, I mean your eyes say that already. But it's too good." And so long as she didn't regret it all later it was good - right?
"This city is always a mess during the holidays. I just hope it doesn't impact holiday shopping this year - Oh! That reminds me! We should make plans to do Christmas shopping together this year!" For family, friends, and each other, as well as themselves! Oh, yes!

"I'm sure something could be thought of! There's all kinds of experienced people around." Genevieve's voice was low and so Jada lowered hers as well, even though the words themselves were innocent. "Some of our friends outside of town-" Jada drew a quick circle in the air to symbolize the Surrounding- "Have special keys for access. I'm sure our tech gurus could think of something to match." Jada beamed at Nephthys as the other woman said she would always side with her, reaching out to squeeze her hand. "I suppose I'll give them a pass this time for being 'magically delicious'," Jada said with a grin, "though thankfully much tastier than Lucky Charms." She began to clean up her tray, tucking her leftover cookies into her Birkin for the kids. So long as she herself had no ill effects, she imagined Giulia, Aidan, and Hope would all get a kick out of them. "That sounds great," Jada said with a pleased note to her voice, "Giulia's 11 this year and I've quite forgotten what I liked as an 11 year old girl. I could use the help with shopping." Her phone went off, and Jada glanced down, seeing a 15-minute warning. "Ugh," she sighed, "I'm interviewing for a new accountant, so I need to be back at the office in 15 minutes. And my eyes are like THIS." closing them, Jada sighed. "Guess I'm wearing sunglasses. I can blame a migraine, right?" Sleet Tempest Snape I think we can FIN with your post!
