Wanted Wisps (11) : Small, wispy orbs are floating through the city. They can be found during the day but are far more visible at night. They seem to bob along a few feet off the ground and sometimes flicker in and out of sight. They are warm to the touch and seem to be somewhat magical in nature. Anyone can gather them in their hands; they do not quite feel solid but cannot slip through fingers or escape any container. If you find one of these, you must return it to the merchant. If you do not roleplay with him, it will be assumed that you returned the piece to hi anyway; there is no way to keep these. Please see this post for information on turning in the Wisp and claiming your prize.
The clicking of keys on her computer was silent. She had been smart enough to replace them with keys that weren't as loud as the default ones. It made it easier to hide her work. She was out in the park, currently trying to see if she could hack into a nearby building's network, or at least see if it had any vulnerabilities that she could take advantage of in loaded malicious email.
It was for a job that she had been paid to do and it was for some ex-employee who was terrible enough at their job that they had been fired, but apparently had enough money to pay her half up front before she had completed the job. She wasn't sure where the money had come from, but she made sure the entire transaction had been digital. She didn't ask questions and as long as she covered her actions, she wasn't worried about being caught.
Being out here while powered was a vulnerability though. It meant that anyone who could sense her aura would be able to wander over and find her. But she needed to power up and try to gather energy anyway, so if someone came to fight her, she wouldn't hold back on at least trying.
What she hadn't expected though was for the wisps to get in the way of her vision. She thought she had read something about them briefly or seen a social media post of them but had ignored them for the time being to concentrate on the job.
She had batted a few of them away when they had first appeared in front of her, not wanting to deal with what appeared to be larger than usual dandelion puffs or tree seeds of some sorts. She didn’t really know much about plants. But when they didn’t leave her alone, she decided to take a closer look at one that had shoved itself in front of her and the screen that she had been looking at. It felt like she was holding something that was gaseous but didn’t go through her fingers. To be honest it was just plain weird, and she didn’t really like the sensation of feeling one of these things. She liked solid, like they keys on her keyboard.
Though she supposed if holographic keyboards ever became a thing in her lifetime that she would have to get used to those.
Still, she had now “captured” one of the wisps and didn’t really know what to do with it. It appeared to be sticking to her and she had been unable to get rid of it. What exactly it was was unknown. She wasn’t sure if it was magic or something to do with the world going to sh*t and this was a side effect of it? Or perhaps there was something out there with the rest of all of this magical stuff that she didn’t know about. Or care to know about other than seeing how she could tie it to her computers. Either way, she decided to put it in where she put her energy and continued to look at the job that she had been hired for, wondering what exactly she was supposed to be doing with the wisp after this.
