Welcome Thanks for stopping by! This is a user-run contest for 2 Herd Helper ponies for the new Time Heralds Herd. Interested? Than do continue reading! I’m very new to this and it’s very much a work in progress that we have all been working on together so bare with me!

- Ametrine, owned by stormflower. Role-Oracle Ametrine is serene and has noble bearing. She rules with a fair paw and is always one to listen to all sides when conflicts arise. She is very kind and loving and sees all the herd as her family. Will treat any of the young as if they were her own. She believes time is very precious and should not be taken for granted and time, like life, should be protected at all costs.
- Cachemirine, owned by Lady Argentum. Role Head Technician Cachemirine is very task oriented with most of her attention going to the massive sundial configurations used by the oracles. She can become very absorbed in her work and need to be reminded to eat and/or sleep. She's a calm sort and generally says very little unless it is related to her projects. Only those she's close with or members of her tech staff are allowed to call her "Mirin." Anyone else attempting to use the nickname will usually receive a very heavy sigh.
- Tashmarine, owned by Malikztaih Ankhwave. Role Watcher Tashmarine very much lives for her role as a Watcher. She prides herself on having a keen eye to notice anything out of place along their borders, and works at keeping her talent going by playing private little games of 'Spy.' This sometimes carries over into a habit of obsessively counting the details in things around her, ready to catch anything that's changed- which usually only shows itself when she is left being idle for too long.
- Charoite, owned by Ivory.Ryo2.0. Role Lead Mender
- Role Protector Lt., & Technician Eitan is the kind and understanding sort of stallion but is strong and steadfast as well. He grew up wandering alone in the desert after being separated from his mother, and herd. He fought for survival and had to learn how to survive on his own. This did not make him 'hard' or unsocial or cruel. He is quiet and observant though this may make him come off as shy or unsocial. He has a very high value for life and doesnt think it should be taken for granted. He is also extremely stubborn and once his mind is made its nearly impossible to change it. Herd and family are everything to him though and he will do anything to protect them.
- Tanishay, owned by Ivory.Ryu2.0 Role Forager and Nanny Tanishay was born a lady and daughter to a Pegasus named Claude and normal breed mother named Istas. Her father was valiant where her mother was free spirited. Tanishay took after her mother in many ways but is different too she is free spirited enjoying going out on adventures and being a brave girl. She is very smart but never does anything stupid stupid. Her love is Eitan and she loves to be by his side. When she’s not with Eitan her hobbies are learning about myths and telling stories about them to the young and teaching them life. She enjoys watching the little ones and learning different stories while going on adventures herself.

Q: Are the way the affinities work more like how the elements are? Like if someone had an affinity for a water stone, then would they be described as more flexible and adaptive while another with an affinity towards an earth stone may be stronger and resilient and unrelenting? Or do the stones just mark a certain affinity overall and have no bearing on personalities and such? A: It would really depend on the soquili. Sometimes it may work out that way but not always. Just because someone is maybe a Mender and has an affinity to water stones doesn’t mean they may be calm or docile but they could be stubborn and hard headed and quick to anger even. The affinity doesn’t have to define them as a person/soquili.
Q: Can a herd member hold 2 positions/roles? A: Yes we have a couple already that have 2 roles though they still have a primary role that you could say is their ‘main focus’.

Saphalerite walked into the stone warehouse looking around at all the different stones that were around her. She had decided to take a moment to check out what sorts of stones there were, there were so many that when the time came she wasn’t sure if any of them would speak to her. She turned her focus back to the reason why she was brought here in the first place and it was to test for her affinity. She took a deep breath and exhaled before keeping focussed as she walked around waiting for any sense of which ones spoke to her. A few minutes had passed and she started feeling her eyes draw towards a Sapphire stone, a Aquamarine stone, a moon stone, a black fire opal and a diamond.
She paused from her walk about to see how she was feeling about her future role, she wanted to contribute to the herd and be part of something much bigger than her and she wanted to help those that needed it and wanted to protect everyone from harm’s way, but she knew she wouldn’t be able to keep everyone safe from every dangerous thing in the world but she was okay with that. She would build relationships and make some friends in the process and that was something that her heart wanted. She started to head back to the entrance of the stone warehouse before looking back once again at all the stones that called the Stone warehouse their home and smiled to herself.
She walked out beaming proud of herself that she would do whatever was in her power to achieve her greatest goal which was to keep those in her herd safe and always be there for them when they need someone to talk to. There was definitely a learning curve still that only experience would give her and she was looking forward to it and knew that life was always going to be a time where learning is non-stop. She believed that you will always learn something new from new experiences alone.

Stone of Time, Bind my Fate Username: Kivras Prefs: Rose Brunette Name: Rubi Name Meaning: Just a slight alternate spelling of Ruby! Desired Role: Protector - General, maybe? Personality: Rubi has a rather short, explosive temper. While not constant, her knack for getting angry at nearly everything has more than once burned relationships, platonic or romantic, and has left her with a rather cynical view of the world. She's working on it, but it's hard to learn to hold back your temper when others in your life have only mocked and belittled you for it, making things even worse. This isn't to say she's only ever angry and reclusive, she finds some delight and joy in just...Existing. Laying down with a friend and watching the leaves in a tree flutter in the breeze. Alone in a cavern trying to read the etchings on the stone walls. Even just dozing off with someone using her as a pillow. Despite, or maybe because of, how many she's alienated in her life, she tries very hard to build relationships. This, of course, tends to backfire due to how easy she is to anger, and it's entirely possible only the strongest of personalities could hope to stick around to power through the wildfire that is Rubi and see the calm, affectionate mare that's under the charring left behind. Fire.
Of course it was fire.
Rubi had only come to the warehouse because of someone else egging her on, assuring her that since her last two attempts had resulted in her simply remaining a member.
Seems like the third time was indeed the charm.
Only feeling any sort of draw towards the firey stones, she tried to turn instead at least to the ones aligned to water. To light. To anything other than fire. In desperation she even tried to feel the draw towards the air stones.
Nothing.
There was only fire.
Strength stones had a pull, as well, but nothing as overwhelming as the fire stones.
Other members of the herd were, well, exactly what she expected; Kind, warm and happy that she had finally shown any sort of affinity. That they would have another protector for the herd. Another warrior.
One of the fieriest mares in the herd, with an affinity to the fire stones, who was always ready to throw down, off to go and fight to protect the herd. It wasn't that hard to see how she was soon to become nothing but a walking stereotype thanks to this recent revelation, and something in her was ready to slip into despair.
Leaving the stone warehouse with a chosen small red and orange crystal, mulling over her fate, she couldn't escape the gaze of one of the newer members of the herd. A nanny, who had found her air affinity almost the same day she'd joined the herd. A mare who was wonderful with foals and those in the herd who were easy to get along with. A mare who, upon finding Rubi somewhat difficult to talk to, had chosen instead to become somewhat of a bully. A mare who made enough snide remarks about Rubi to whoever would listen, that newer members of the herd regarded the brunette mare with caution and sometimes fear.
Locking the mare's gaze with her own, seeing her smirk, Rubi felt the fire building in her belly, ready to explode.
And it made the decision easy.
If she was going to be a protector, she was going to be the wildfire that devastated anyone and anything that dared harm her homeland. If she was to be feared, it wouldn't be because of idle gossip and false rumors. Making her way to General. Commanding respect with her actions alone.

Putting the herd at risk is unacceptable in her mind. She’s been a Guardian for a long time so the respect she is given comes with experience. Skilled in combat there are few who can match her strength and wit, though she’s always willing to let others try if they dare. While she can sometimes give off a snobby attitude it just comes with the fact she’s better than most. What is your favorite gem stone/mineral?: Tourmaline
It was late when Ruby was aroused from a deep sleep. She had been dreaming of the strangest thing but as she came awake her memory of the dream quickly faded. It left her with a hollow feeling but she had no time to sit and ponder it as she was urged to hurry and get out of bed. With a stifled yawn she blinked the sleep from her eyes and made her way out into the fresh, cool night’s air. The ones that had woke her up motioning for her to follow.
It felt like they had walked forever by the time they had gotten to the stone warehouse. By now Ruby was fully awake and had figured out what exactly was going on. Well.,.she had suspected it. Who just randomly wakes someone for no reason?
The sight of the warehouse filled her with excitement but also dread. She was reluctant to show an hesitation. What if she was given a role that she felt wasn’t suited to her talents? What if all her training had been a huge waste of time and she should have focused elsewhere? The mare shook her head, quieting these thoughts as the others grew impatient with her standing there. With a flick of her tail she walked into the warehouse. Her head held high with a noble air.
It was dark. A lot darker than she had expected but Ruby had never been afraid of the dark. There was a damp smell to it, the sound of water dripping in the distance. Now what? They never really told her what she was suppose to do once she got in here. She began to wander aimlessly until a crackling sound caught her attention. Ears perked her head turned abruptly in the direction of the sound.
A light.
It was faint but yes it was there! Trying to hold back her excitement Ruby quickened her pace until she finally came to a dead stop. Her hooves skidding on the earthen floor. Her eyes widened in amazement at the stone in front of her. It burned with a hunger that seemed insatiable but it also felt protective and warm. The smell of burning wood and leaf litter filled her nose but she could see no fire. At least not until she looked closer at the stone and she could make out the flickering flames held within.
Her heart raced. The flame seemed to beat along with her heart and in that instant she knew this stone was hers. This stone of fire. It was what she had wanted. It meant that she was meant to be a Guardian. That all her training had been worth it in the end. Her destiny was clearer than ever.
In her excitement she almost left the stone behind but quickly remembering it Ruby gathered the stone and proceeded to the exit. Her head held high with pride as she met fresh air. The sun had just begun to peek over the far hills. Turning the sky purple then pink. But on this day Ruby could say she saw the days with new eyes and a new role to uphold.
And she would uphold it as one of the best Guardians in the herd. That she swore this day.

Emma had been waiting to be able to be guided to the stone warehouse. It was a ritual for most to become the very being that they are meant to be. She glanced at her leader then nodded. "Yes, mam. I know the routine.. Let the crystal call me." She gives her a smile as she stood in front of the door of the warehouse. Soon, the leader gave her the go ahead. She lets out a deep breath and slowly walks into the warehouse. All of sudden so many tiny whispers had hit her as if they were guiding her. She glances at the quartzs of a variety of colors. ".... No..Not these." She whispered and bows her head at the crystals, showing respect.
Emma walks deeper into the warehouse, looking slowly in every direction. Her ears twitches to every whisper that seems to tell her where to go. Her gaze falls on a moonstone then an opal. She frowns at the whispers. "... I know.. I know.. Just.. Stop!" She flattened her ears, taking in another deep breath. She glances towards the red crystals and shook her head. She took another step, looking around. A soft whine escaped her lips. "Why is it telling me not to move??" Right when she said that, a big Moonstone falls in front of her. She jumps with a neigh. "... " She tilts her head towards it then towards the other moonstone and opal.
She then knew just what the stone was telling her. She felt connected almost immediately to the said stone. She bows her head to touch her nose with it and smiled. ".. Yes..." She knew that she would not be like the others but it was her fate. She began to roll it towards the entrance of the warehouse. She giggled at the whispers. "How else can I bring you to my home? I am not gonna hurt you. You are family." She mutters to it before bringing it to the leader. She glanced at the leader. "...I know that this is not the normal size.. or whatever, mam.. But.. This one needs a home.. MY home. I am not like any of you. I can't be a warrior.. I want to bring smiles.. I want to be able to heal hearts.. souls of trauma.. " She glanced into her eyes. "Mam.. I was born to do this." She bends her head to the moonstone then looks at the leader. "I am willing to learn anything.. I am willing to go through the trials..This is what the crystal is telling me to do.. You taught me to listen to the crystals. You taught me to learn from them. I have done that for most of my life... My time is now."

Taimana opened her eyes to morning light. She knew that today was the day that she would head into stone warehouse. She had waited for this day her whole life. She was a little scared but also excited. Standing up she readied herself for the task. She was trying not to over think it. Shaking her she left her comfy home and headed towards the stone warehouse
As she approaches she spots her leader and a few others. She stops in front of her leader and listens to instructions. She smiles and nods. When the the leader asks if she understands. " yes, ma'am. I know how the ritual works I'm ready." She heads into the stone warehouse.
In stone warehouse Taimana looks around at all the different stones that were around her. She had decides to stop infront of each one. Thinking about how it felt. If the stone talked to her. She spots a smaller moon stone, stopping before it she closes her eyes thinking about what she wants. She moves to a black fire opal, the Sapphire, then Ruby. She stops a few feet away before she feels a small pull toward the moonstone. She returns and closes her eyes.
Thinking about her job and what is best for the herd. 'Oh great moonstone I live to tinker more then any thing. Please show me the way. Please let me do what I love.' Opening her eyes she looks around feeling proud of herself for saying what she felt.
Taimana feeling happy about her future job. She smiles she would make the best out of attempts. Learn and help her herd in many ways and hopefully be supported in some way. He future felt and looked bright and she felt ready for anything.
She heads out to meet her future and her new role.

Personality: She is generally quiet and introverted, but it’s usually because her mind is busy creating and inventing and observing the small nuances all around her. Ande tossed her head and sighed. None of these stones was calling particularly strongly; rather, she could feel all of them. Not to identical degrees, of course, but it was hard to sift through each stone to notice which called to her more strongly than others. Her eyes passed over a labradorite, closely related to her namesake, and felt a pull toward it that was strong enough for her to choose it. “Labradorite, I guess,” she said. Ande paused, then said “It’s really hard to pick, though. I am drawn to all of them differently.” Hearing that she would be placed as a technician did not surprise her. She had guessed that’s what she would end up doing, and that was just fine by her. She liked spending her time creating and considering the ways the crystals would interact with the objects they were a part of anyway, and she smiled softly to herself. Yes, this would suit her fine, and Ande knew that eventually she would find her very own specialization within the myriad of skills all the technicians had.

Zulta's face would never give it away, but she was ecstatic - if there was something she knew she excelled at was her wealth of knowledge and kinship with the stones. Prepping, observing, and learning from others would finally be put to practice. Zulta was ready - but not that anyone else needed to know. Despite the confidence, there was a feeling in her gut she knew would come to light. That in her education, nothing ever really stood out - nothing ever felt like it was "the one". 'But that wasn't the affinity test! That was just everyday.' She internally chided as she slowly walked by the stones, staring at each one with consideration and intention.
As she looked, the feeling in her gut grew. Everything very faintly pulled one way or another, very faintly. Though this was the gut feeling she had ever since the beginning, she could not deny the disappointment that it was not something else - the draw of a moonstone or a fire opal to change her fate. "Don't be disappointed now - this is a test, accept it.'
Zulta paused in front of a section of pearlescent stones that pulled no differently than any others. She smiled warmly, "They are all precious and special, but none more than any other. I believe this qualifies me for the technician path." Her confidence betrayed her disappointment as she stated her answer to the test.
