Atheneite was out on the search for energy that evening. The newly minted captain was more than a little exhausted from the Star Festival that was taking place in Destiny City. She hated big celebrations like this, it was just an excuse for annoying people to do a bunch of annoying things. New venders were always popping up and there were a bunch of city wide events, it was all tedious. So the young agent was more then happy to be on the look out to ruin someone's fun night.

However as she walked down the unlit alley way something new caught her attention. It was the most beautiful melody she had ever heard. She felt her heart rate increase. All thoughts of collecting energy were long gone. She needed to find the singer. She tried to follow the sound to its source but the more she walked the more she realized the voice didn't sound any closer. It was maddening.

She was so obsessed with the music that she didn't notice the order aura that she was going closer and closer to. She didn't notice the senshi until he actually came into view. She growled at the senshi, she knew him she had fought him before. She would have wanted to beat the snot out of the porcupine senshi anyway given how he had escaped their last battle but right now her mind was buzzing with thoughts of him trying to steal the music from her. She did note that the senshi was stronger, it seemed she was not the only one with a promotion. She summoned her spear to her hand. "Back off Senshi boy, unless you want to spend the festival in the hospital." She threatened.

Monoceros had (also) been following the voice. He... he couldn't have been sure, but it sounded so like... someone calling him home.

Maybe to his home among the stars he had yet to visit, still, the thought of which normally sent his skin crawling, but now filled him with some kind of weird mixture between despair and euphoria. He had to find this voice. Maybe they would be able to convince him to come home, somehow.

He wasn’t sure who the voice belonged to. Or where, exactly, it was coming from. It was kind of driving him just a little bit, only a tiny bit, really, not a big deal, but still driving him absolutely ******** insane. Where the hell was the voice coming from? It was maddening. It never quite seemed to get closer, close enough for him to meet the owner of the mysterious voice, anyway, but he couldn’t help following it regardless. Something about it just pulled at him.

He bit back a hysterical giggle as he suddenly compared it to Prince Eric chasing after the voice of Ariel’s voice while it was inside Ursula, while all along never knowing the real girl was really right there beside him. Except, to be fair, Monoceros couldn’t really be sure the voice was benign. As much as he believed it was, there was a small nagging voice in the back of his head trying to be rational. But it was far too easy to ignore it, as entranced as he was by the voice. Just like Prince Eric, the voice in the back of his head tried to remind him, but he tamped it down in favor of the voice he was actually, physically hearing.

What he hadn't anticipated was running into an enemy, so consumed by his thoughts and the voice. Well, s**t. Atheneite again, huh? Well, he was much stronger now. He should hopefully be able to handle this. He couldn’t remember with any clarity what happened the last time they fought, and distantly he wondered if that was because of the voice and its magic trying to force him back on track.

"Oh, while that thought fills me with de-spear, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to decline your invitation," he called back, taking a defensive stance. "Someone out here needs me. And I am not letting you near them."

Atheneite literally cringed at the terrible pun. If she didn't want to kill the stupid senshi before she definitely did now. The beautiful melody continued in the back of her mind. "I won't let you take this from me." The young captain growled.

She leveled her spear as she charged with amazing speed. She stabbed straight follow by repeated slashing left and right, up and down as she tried to catch him. She couldn't lose she wasn't sure what she would do if he took the voice away from her. No she needed it, she couldn't live without it.

"I'll kill you, you little p***k!" She she screamed as she swung her spear.

Monoceros dodged as well as he could, but he was still left with multiple shallow cuts across his body—mainly his upper arms. His new—what was it they were called again? Gauntlets or something? Whatever, this was so far beyond the point it wasn't even funny—the point was, they protected his lower arms from most of the harm.

"Seems like someone needs a chill quill," he taunted, ignoring the blood dripping off him.

With a small growl, he dodged again, surging forward with the intent to grab her spear and yank her forwards so he could release Quill Burst. He prayed it worked.

Super Sailor Scout Attack: Quill Burst

Sailor Monoceros leaps up to the bad guy, getting close, before letting loose a burst of quills from his entire body. (Allies beware!) The Burst is less aim-controlled than the Flash, but more intense. These quills will likely puncture more deeply from being close up and attempts to remove the quills before disappearance will cause a sharp, hot pain where the quill is pinned, and a more dull ache in the surrounding area, making the muscles more sore. A user can choose to have this attack cause permanent damage or the injury will fade when the magic expires. This attack will last about 30 seconds and can be used twice per battle.

Atheneite smiled as blood flowed out of the stupid senshi, she reveled in his sufferings. Like a shark smelling blood in the water she increased the ferocity of her attacks. However she was not prepared for when the senshi moved into her attack grabbing the heft of her spear and pulling her forward. She quickly let go of the spear before she could be fully thrown off balance however it was too late as hit magic struck.

The pain was searing as the quills pierced her flesh. Atheneite had to suck in a breath to keep from screaming in pain. She immediately leapt back away from the senshi to put some distance between herself and the senshi as she dealt with the pain. She knew better than to try and pull out the quills after the last time. She managed to steady herself gritting her teeth against the pain as she summoned her spear again readying to attack again.

However before she could continue any attack something truly horrible happened, the music stopped. Atheneite shook, an empty feeling settling in the pit of her stomach she couldn't believe the beautiful music was gone how could she live without it. The spear clattered out of her hands as she dropped to her knees. "No!" Tears lined her eyes as the lost hit her, she couldn't believe it another thing she loved ripped away from. She wallowed in her misery for a moment and then she looked up. Hate filled eyes landed on the senshi, this was all his fault he stopped her from getting to the singer and one day she would make him pay. She would give him a painful death for what he took from her. She teleported away in furious silence to tend to her wounds.

Monoceros got ready to dodge again, but then, the singing stopped and Atheneite seemed to just... fall apart at the emotional seams.

He, too, felt the sharp pain that came from no longer hearing the singing, unable to help, but he tried to remain ready to finish the fight—at least, until she teleported away.

Then he relaxed his stance a little, still tense form the loss of the singing. If only he hadn't been so stupid... He swallowed back the tears and began the trek home.
