✘ ▄ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ▄ Gallows would lead Julin towards the outskirts to a secluded area he knew of; after both had changed and equipped themselves appropriately for a fight in the night. The moon was out now; a bright, full moon; which should help both of them see now. Even if Gallows may be able to see farther and better than Julin could in these conditions. Far away from the prying eyes of others, this spot would seem little different from anywhere else as they found themselves in a small clearing in the forest. The grass here was knee high, with a few rocks/boulders and dead trees interspersed through the clearing itself. The time of the fight may've favored Gallows, but he hardly cared for fairness. Battle itself was never fair; Julin would have to prove he could fight well with this handicap in place. Gallows was back in his typical attire (image in post format) with his Anti-riot gun equipped and the rest of his usual weaponry. His philosophy is while training to fight you should come equipped as normal to start; you could train for when you were missing your gear, but you could always get to that later in training if you start off with them. Gallows would motion Julin to stand on the opposite end of the clearing from him as he took his place. "The test is simple. You have till sunrise to either break my aura, make me yield, or impress me. Begin," he would say in his usual straight to the point speaking as he drew his kusarigama. While an amusing thought was to let him come close and then use the anti-riot gun, he was saving that for when it would be needed. He knew not, fully, how competent his opponent would be. He would slowly approach the man as he began to spin the kusarigama above him the air in wide arcs; holding for Julin to make the first move.

Julin followed Gallows out to the Outskirts, having been allowed to prepare himself with Dust and his suit of armor. He was prepared for the test run Gallows would have prepared for him in the secluded area. He looked around, the time of it was still deep in the evening as the light of the moon shone down on them, causing his Platemail to have some sheen to it. Julin looked towards Gallows as he began to speak while he stood beside one of the boulders. "Till Sunrise to best you huh? Sounds fair then. I won't go easy." He stated calmly before he began to charge at Gallows, the armor already showing it wasn't slowing down. He could see the spin of the Kusarigama and his body was guiding him as he moved close. He unsheathed his greatsword as it transformed, starting the battle in it's Zweihander state as Julin would hop from the ground and enter a baseball slide, the grass masking the gleam of his armor and sword slightly while he tore through the grass. He swung the greatsword in a wide horizontal sweep towards Gallow's hips as he focused on the man, the light provided to him being the moon and since this man wore dark navy blue style clothing, he had to keep him in sight.

It was amusing to think the man thought he could afford to hold back against him. Piercing blue eyes watched his opponent as Gallows advanced, only to see Julin charge to him. He noted the man did not seemed particularly hindered by his armor as well. It was plain, in Gallows mind, to see what he was trying to do; get past Gallows ranged to be able to do damage in close quarters. But Gallows wasn't going to make it easy on him. As his opponent brought out his sword into a large form, Gallows changed the angle of his attack. He would bring the Kusarigama down to strike at the charging Julin; whether successful or not he wasn't about to give him a straight and clear shot to him. As he brought it down he would also pull it back to him; going in a pattern of one short spin, strike, then back to spin. As he did, he would also hold his ground as an idea came to mind. While he could save it for later, he saw a good opportunity for it's use. As he continued his own attack to try and deter the stampeding Julin, he would also begin to focus his emotions on excitement; of the rush of impending battle, of fighting for ones life, of domination. As Julin changed to slide to him, losing speed but being close, Gallows would bring up his left hand as Julin was bringing his sword to attack. On his left hand was his anti-riot gun; Julin would see the momentary flash of it's laser pointer on him before a wave of aura would surge through directly at him. The wave would potentially send Julin flying given he had been sliding to Gallows and attacking. Regardless, Gallows wasn't about to let it get wasted. As soon as he blasted, he would put his kusarigama away and advance on Julin. "Close, but not close enough," he would say aloud as he drew two of his knives (the 8-inch ones). Regardless of whether Julin recovered or not, he would throw them both at him to keep up the pressure as he now charged Julin himself. Drawing his hard-light knife in his right hand, he would wait to activate it till he was potentially closer to Julin. "Let's see how you handle this!" he would shout as he went in close. If he could, he would wait to activate the knife till the last moment (be it to try to deflect or attack) and would ideally going in for a series of quick slashes at him.

Julin's initial charge was met with some resistance as he brought his plate mail left gauntlet up, blocking the driving spike of the Kusarigama while he advanced. The flash of spark following as it lit up the helmet before the sickle was drawn back. He could see the man continue the attack as the second attack came and he went for the slide. The sickle went overhead entirely as Julin's slow slide still had forward momentum. The blades of grass began to fall down as if he was harvesting them with a scythe but as he was about to gain the first strike, he saw the beam of a laser aim at him. His eyes looked curiously as his attack was stopped before he felt a wave of energy rush over him. He was caught off-guard from an up-close blast that not only stopped his slide but instead pushed him back slightly. His armor did help to keep him from flying away but he was moved a small distance as he got back up. He was stumbling slightly, his left hand moved to grasp his head before the crunch of grass could be heard. He looked up and even with his skewed vision from the helmet, he could see the man approaching without the Kusarigama. He narrowed his eyes as he could still see the attack coming now.
He swung his left hand, striking one of the knives out of the air as the other struck the left fauld over his left hip, chipping it slightly but the knife was deflected regardless. Was it a test to see how fast his reflexes were in close quarters? This was a test in general but Julin was trying to focus as he could see the man continued to approach and this time, he swung with the Zweihander to attack. His attack was stopped slightly by the man's Hard-light knife, but Julin tried to push for the attack, aiming to overpower the man and either break the knife or push him to the left.
If he succeeded in pushing Gallows in the direction he wanted, he would follow up with a step-up and a swift punch to the gut to keep aggression.
If he failed however and Gallows instead slipped or counter, Julin would have to rely on Aura to defend his armor's weakpoints and back-peddle to try and gain ground once more.
He's fought knife users before, and the gleam of the first blades recalled to him the memory of knocking them out of the air, yet this man had fervor his previous foes lacked, as if he was enjoying this.

Mary had been silent until now as she did not want to distract her lovely host. She was also being observant of the arrogant dunderhead. Glaring at the opponent, she was curious of this one; though in her mind no one could hold a candle to her Gallows. "You might want to be careful of this one. Still, cut him down," She told the young man before he would attack. It was only after Julin would make his retort that her duo-colored eyes would widen slightly. "He's testing us. Let's give him a taste," The parasite purred, wanting his blood already. She hoped and knew that Gallows would oblige her; if not now, then later on...she could wait even if she didn't want to.

As he expected, she wanted him to cut Julin down and feed; he doubted she saw him as much use outside of that. He knew she preferred him alone for the most part as well. She did bring up a good point though...he would need to feed soon. While he knew he could delay it a little...sooner was always better with their relation. He didn't want to devolve again; he liked to pick his targets and remain in control. 'We'll see how he does. He will be useful for the coming job regardless of his skill. Whether his use lasts longer than that depends on this trial,' Gallows would simply think in response to her. As Gallows launched his initial assault with Kusarigama, he would see Julin use his armor to deflect much of his attack. It was one weakness with his particular kusarigama that it had difficulty with metal armor. 'Preserving his aura, wise,' Gallows thought. He was doing well in his slide to avoid the kusarigama as well; a pity Gallows couldn't keep him at a distance but he had backups in place. As Julin got close and attempted to cut him down, the hawk heirloom destroyed his attempt as he was sent back. Though not as far back as Gallows had hoped; still, it worked for his purposes. As the man was dazed, Gallows pressed the offence. Knives flew from his hands towards the armored opponent, meant more as distraction and to keep him back pedaling than actual damage. One knife was deflected by a gauntlet fist, the other by his armor. Despite the attack, the man had recovered and was prepared for him as he swung with the giant sword.
Having seconds to act with only a hard-light knife in hand, he activated the aura blade and brought it up perpendicular to Julin's to slow the strike though it pushed him back from the force. 'Damn, he is definitely stronger than me,' Gallows thought as he tried to keep from having his blade knocked out and taking a heavy hit. Thinking quick, and rather than just be at his mercy, Gallows would switch gears as Julin tried to press the attack. He would side step under the blade and drop his blade defense, since he was trying to push him to the left Gallows would instead go under and to the right, while instead slashing with it at Julin's leg as he did so. He was aiming for a gap between the armor, perhaps hit a tendon if Julin didn't use his aura this time. As he did the slice though, he wouldn't stop moving. He would transition from the ducking side-step slash to trying to get some distance between him and Julin again. If he got distance, he would draw his kusarigama. If not, it would be a large knife versus a large sword fight. He also had the anti-riot gun as an option but he wanted to use it only when needed. He doubted Julin would fall for it twice. At the same time, his adrenaline had built up. Julin would notice his eyes begin to glow, but nothing happened quite yet.

Julin's power proved to be mightier than Gallows had thought, but Julin watched as the man used the struggle to leverage himself under the swing entirely, sliding to the side of Julin as he had thought. His aura defense kicked on, blocking the strike from finding blood as Julin turned to keep him in sight and they both backed away. It was a distance fight once more but this time, Julin grabbed one fire shard, channeling aura through it. The ground was grass, and while his armor was clear to protect him especially with aura, clearing out the clearing with fire to make it easier to see him would be better. He swiped his left hand out, throwing the red stone that barely glimmered in the dull moonlight towards him. As it approached, if it was struck out of the air, ignored, or dodged, it would detonate and release a cubic foot of fire in a burst, igniting the grass on fire and lighting the area up to reveal Gallows to Julin.
However, the armor man wouldn't let up as after the detonation, he would charge once more, this time with the greatsword held up and over his shoulder, the blade resting on the pauldron to not cut his arm. The sound of kusarigama chains had alerted him to what he had equipped, but the battle so far told him not to trust what the man held physically. He aimed an over-head chop towards the man's, aiming to hit chain or cut through it to slam the blade into his shoulder. However, even if the blade found flesh, the blade wouldn't cut through the man as Julin still acknowledged the battle to be a test, not a battle to the death. Whether or not this backfired against him was yet to be seen.

That must was a good sign at the least; now the question was how much Julin had learned from their brief clash and if it was as much as himself. As he de-activated his hardlight knife, in favor of getting his kusarigama since close quarters wouldn't work too well against Julin, he would notice him grab something and throw it to him. A red stone had been thrown to him; what exactly the purpose was Gallows was unsure but he was not about to find out. Grabbing his 6 inch knife, he would throw it in a horizontal spin at the object to intercept it. As it impacted, a burst of flame would spring forth as the apparent dust detonated and the grass beneath caught fire. Gallows held an arm up in front of him at the sudden burst of light, not expecting it. Seeing the flames begin to spread, Gallows would frown. 'So that was your plan,' he thought to himself as he saw Julin now charging him. It seemed he was trying to close the gap between them again; though this time Gallows had a different idea in mind. 'Lets see if you can take the lead,' he thought as he fully drew his kusarigama and began to spin it in small, slow circles overhead; after activating one white dust shard on it. Keeping much of the chain loose between the hand holding the kama (right hand) and the one spinning the chain (left hand).
Gallows would hold his ground as Julin came forward, great-sword held up high and over his shoulder. His eyes were focused on him and his movements as he began to speed up in spinning the ball and chain segment of his weapon. As he came in for the strike, Gallows would act. He would use the momentum of the swing to throw the chain to Julin's sword, attempting to catch it by having it wrap around the blade and then to pull quickly with his strength. The idea behind the move was to disarm Julin or send the great-sword down into the earth besides him rather than actually at him. If it failed and the great-sword was still coming to him, he would bring the kama up to catch the great-sword under the kama blade; he would be pushed back by the strength of Julin and his arms would shake and waver from the force before he carried out the rest of the move. He would move his arm, and thus the kama blade, to send Julin's sword continuing off to the side rather than at him. If Julin resisted the motion, he would activate the wind dust to held push it where he wanted it to go. With his left hand, still holding the chain, he would reach forward to grab Julin's arm to bring him close before bringing the kama blade straight to his neck to slice at it. While dangerously close, he was hoping his maneuver would succeed or force Julin to back off.

Julin could feel his aura take a hit before he backed away for the moment, seeing Gallows himself switching weapons back to the kusarigama. When he threw the fire shard, he half expected the man to strike it out of the air and he was right as the crystal shattered into glorious flames. The fires hit the grass and caught some of the more dry grass on fire, igniting the field slowly. He continued his undaunted charge at the man, his weapon poised as he could see the heavy weight of the kusarigama spin above his head, causing Julin to guess he was going to block with it when he swung. But as he got closer, he himself noticed the man was standing his ground despite the fact Julin was superior in strength compared to him. 'What is he planning? He thought as he swung downwards, hitting chain that seemed to have come out of nowhere as the weapon's long body wrapped around the straight body of Yore with relative ease.
His body reacted accordingly however, letting the man pull the blade down with his right hand still gripping the handle as he pushed onward. His eyes glowing through his helmet while his left hand swung from the handle itself to try and backhand Gallows while he was recovering from his 'counter'. The blade's swing seemed to have stop all downward momentum coming from Julin, as if he hadn't attacked in the first place despite all the looks, and when Gallows pulled down, the blade itself stabbed into the ground with ease as Julin's momentum push still forced the tip of the Zweihander to push it deeper into the earth, acting as an anchor. Gallows, with his Kusarigama, obviously came to block the attack but if Gallows pressed with the block, Julin wouldn't stop his backhand, instead aiming to throw his strength to either disarm Gallows in response of the kusarigama or to knock him away. If Gallows instead chose to duck under the attack, Julin would stop his arm from going too far away and swing it back towards him at a lower angle to try and grab Gallow's by the scruff of his shirt and attempt a single-armed chokeslam to throw him to the ground.

Rather than have its continued downward momentum, Gallows felt no resistance in altering its course of attack as it seemed to switch targets by going straight for the ground. While he couldn't quite see Julin's eyes, he could see the glow and see the man had not let go of his weapon. 'Something's not right,' he thought, though he was already close enough that he intended to carry through with his plan of action. With the blade seemingly indisposed of as it hit the earth, he was going to grab Julin's arm and go for a slash with his kama blade. However, as he went to grab, Julin's left hand would swing out to try and strike him. Not having time to react well or move out of the way, he could only divert his arm to try and block Julin's gauntlet clad attack. However, the block was not a perfect one; there was a difference of strength and intent with their motions. His arm would bend back to him from Julins attack, halting his own offensive momentum and pushing him stumbling back a few feet. 'He is more nimble than one would expect in armor,'Gallows noted as he grit his teeth from the pain of the hit as his aura flashed. He needed to even the odds; and he had something in mind. Staying close, despite his weapon, was not working out the best right now. Not unless he made Julin as susceptible as he was. Moving back a few steps further, he tried to keep some distance.
'Mary, keep an eye for any tricks. I need you for this,' he would ask of her in his mind as he looked to Julin. "A good start, but I'm still standing," he would say as the fire from the burning plants seemed to have light flickering off his features. He had a certain plan of action now in mind. Kusarigama in hand, he would pause and draw two dust shards he kept hidden in hand. Dropping both to the ground, Julin may be able to see the color of them was cyan before Gallows stomped on one with each boot. Rather than go to Julin now and continue to play his game, Gallows would rush to the side now (running to his right, Julin's left) and headed for the darker tree-line. So far, it seemed Julin needed to be close to do damage. And this arena suited his sight well; but, It was Julin's task to get Gallows. The one who would need to budge was him. If Gallows reached the tree line, he was going to try to slip from sight and ascend into the trees. He may have a trick or two revealed depending how Julin responded as well.

Julin's backhand managed to succeed at knocking Gallows off his balance from the difference in strength as his own eyes maintained contact. The flash of aura he saw was definitely a clean hit as he smiled underneath his helmet. The way the light flicked amongst their bodies was the clear sign that the fire had spread effectively to allow Julin to see Gallow's clearly. "So I just need to introduce you to the ground then. Glad to know the mission parameters." He told him with a smile before he saw his body tense up, causing Julin to pull his Zweihander out as he noticed the chains weren't tightened, allowing him to brandish his greatsword. But as he saw the cyan colors, he had no clue what they did but he brought his hand back to grasp the sword with two hands. He saw the man run after crushing the cyan's underneath his feet. He narrowed his eyes and watched the man's burst of speed to the left of Julin. He followed him head first before his feet began to move and run after him.
The sounds of his armor were loud enough for the clearing as he had to brave some of the fire to try and catch up to him, his aura handling it rather well as he went through before he calmly began to swathe his sword through the tall grass, cutting himself a proper path to try and make it easier to see Gallows before he brought his left hand back after the third swing. He saw where they were going but he couldn't predict what could happen so instead he spun on his heel, turning and throwing his greatsword like a buzz saw. The intent was to try and hit him before he could get into the trees, but if it missed, Julin would have cleared a grass path towards the tree outline where Gallows would be while Yore would be lodged inside of a tree. He may be unencumbered with his armor, but the difference in speed was still noticeable considering Gallow's start-up run versus Julin's start up run.

Mary had to admit, he was impressive, for maggot food, as she too felt a sting from the backhand. Growling a soft, predatory sound that only her Host heard within his mind. She was not pleased that her Gallows was nearly injured though and eyes would spark from behind her host. "With pleasure, my dear," She would purr in response. She adored when Gallows asked for her help, it always made her heart flutter. Doing just that, she would be the mercenary's second pair of eyes in a way. As Gallows moved, so would she to the opposite side of the giant man, though she took in their opponent's movements as promised.
Her host was fast as he'd moved to Julin's left, she took his right before rejoining Gallows; as she could not be far from his mind's vision. Watching the mountainous armor move so agilely, it was interesting. Anything to keep her lover unharmed was ideal, but she would accept getting him safe. "Damn man's moving his sword like a buzz saw, look out. He's on our tail," The illusion of a girl would state, annoyed by the brat's movements. If they made it to the trees, she would be sure to have something to throw at this b*****d.

The man clearly excelled in a straight on confrontation, but Gallows work was not always so straightforward. He needed to test the mans adaptability; plus, Gallows did not like losing. As he ran into the tree-line with dust empowered soles, he was relying on Mary to keep an eye on his opponent as well. There was a lot he had to account for with his plan. It was certainly not difficult to know the brute was following him though by the sound of his heavy footfalls and armor. As Mary agreed to agree him with audible joy in her voice, he would note in his peripheral another figure appear. Only he could see Mary running nearby them now, his own vision more focusing on the tree-line as he neared it. One wrong trip could screw him. Hearing Mary's warning, he would briefly focus more on Julin only to see his sword flying at him like an actual buzzsaw. Jumping up, Gallows would activate the dust in his soles to create transient hard-light platforms to act as steps as he went up into the air and trees. It allowed him to ago above the whirling blade as it would crash into a tree, with Gallows quickly reaching the upper branches of the tree line and moving quickly through them. His plan was to have Julin lose sight of him and attack him...but then he noticed something in the trees. It looked like a green demon with large ears, but maybe only a foot tall. It had sharp teeth and claws that gleamed menacingly in the moonlight, and rushed at him. Not wasting a second at seeing a damned Gremlin, he would pause in the branches and bring up his riot gun to blast the damned thing out of existence. He hated those creatures and eradicated it before it could do anything. The blast utterly destroyed the branches and tops off a few trees in the direction he had aimed. Unfortunately, it meant it gave away his position...as he would quickly move in the trees to try to get away from Julin and "disappear". He would through one more knife in Julin's direction though, the ten inch blade, before he ran off though. He could also feel his power almost at full capacity.

Julin's sword spun through the air, giving him just enough of a time to see the faint glow of Gallow's hardlight platforms that he jumped off to somewhere. He continued to move towards the sword as he got to the tree and grabbed ahold of his greatsword's handle, taking a deep breath and exhaling the word. "Yore..." The width of the blade extended just enough for him to pull it out more easily, using the blade as leverage to get it out of the tree. He spun around the base of the tree and moved to the otherside, looking around as he knew Gallows was here somewhere. He couldn't call him out on it as he was sure the escape would've broken line of sight with him as well. He brandished his greatsword, slowly lining up another red dust shard into the blade while he held it, prepared to thrust with it. Julin's instincts kicked in as he took aim and thrusts his sword, shooting a flaming arrow up to where the source of the blast came from. His own arrow carved through branches but missed the mark where Gallows was.
He watched as branches fell and as he brought his left hand up to shield his eyes, he felt a sharp pain, causing him to reel back as he moved away and turned his left hand. He could see a blade had gone into the palm and had gotten in deep, blood was being held in as was his own cry of pain but he looked to where the blade came from and holding the dagger up while it was still impaled in his hand, he began to walk, hearing the sounds of the trees going in a direction. He kept Yore to his side, the bleeding from his hand only going into the leather of the gloves in the gauntlet for the time being. He avoided branches as best as he could but he seemed to be on guard now, his plates still shifting slightly as he walked, giving his presence away regardless. Maybe this time, he was doing it on purpose to provoke an attack?
