Name: Kahukura Race: Elaria / Yaeli Gender: Female 3 Base Traits: Suspicious, Self-Reliant, Secretive Personality:
Kura isn't the most trusting individual. She's cautious, and rightfully so! Anytime she's ever given her trust freely to others as a child she's either been met with praise or instant scorn and very little in between. Experience has taught her to be wary of other's intentions, even when it's her own family (i.e. if her sister says they should explore a cave that clearly has some sort of hex on it).
That being said she's growing into a very practical and self-sufficient young woman. If there's a way for Kura to do it on her own she will! Her parents have enough to worry about with putting food on the table and her sister is far too elegant to be handling the harsher work, so Kura has stepped up. She'll spend extra time studying a task if she needs to just to learn it, which often time means she's too stubborn to ask for help even if she really needs it. Part of the reason is out of pure embarrassment while the other is born from a stubborn need to succeed.
As much as Kura adores her family there's a side of her that she doesn't like to show anyone. She's a highly sentimental girl who likes to keep various knick knacks stashed all over the house and the woods at large. It could be something as precious as a shoe from her infancy or a rock that sort of looked like a crystal on her father's left hip! So long as it holds meaning to her she wants to keep it tucked away, forever secure and safe where no one can say anything about it. That being said she also keeps part of her personality locked away. It's safer that way; free of judgement.
Description:
Skin Grey skin with pink extremities Crystals Artist's choice on placement Hair Yaeli color (near the right side of the spectrum) in this style. Basically a ponytail with a bandana and some bangs around her face. (Same general color as sister) Eyebrows Elaria eyebrows Ears Yaeli droop Eyes Earthling style, black sclera, Elaria green Antennae Yes please
Clothing/Accessories: Outfit Inspo. Give her a septum piercing too.
History: The tale of Sobaka, a Yaeli merchant, and Anahera, his Elarian lover, is certainly a strange one indeed.
Even though she had been trained to wield swords, Anahera had always shown interest in mercantile affairs. She lived for the thrill of a good bargain and haggling came as easy to her as breathing! It's what led her to make connections with any earthling that would speak to her, which wasn't many, but she tried never the less. Her dogged determination landed a few contracts, one of which being a partnership with Sobaka.
At first it was merely that; a partnership that brought the two together from time to time when it benefitted them. They would exchange goods, possibly pass some trade secrets and deals, then be on their way. However, as time passed so did feelings and eventually the two found themselves becoming more than friends. Initially they tried to fight it. Both had been raised to think the other some sort of monster, but prejudices were only as strong as the belief one put into them. In the end love won out and the two began a relationship in earnest.
The pair ended up settling as close to Zinris as Anahera felt comfortable, and made a living through their mutual love of the deal. Anahera stayed as close to her roots as possible, all while facing no small amount of criticism for taking an earthling lover, but all the while keeping her head held high. She was nothing if not determined to keep her life how she wanted it; the world be damned! Sobaka, however, had been dismissed entirely by his family. The moment he claimed he had fallen for an Elarian they dropped him entirely, spat on his good name, and said he was as good as dead to them. In the beginning it hurt, but over time he saw it as a sort of test. That if they'd really loved him at all they would have at least tried talking him out of it instead of reacting with harsh words!
In those early years the pair said little of children. Passing fancies, really, since they didn't think it would ever be in the cards for them. And yet...years later it was said that Elzira could produce hybrid blooms and low, one had been created! Taking this as a sign Anahera snatched her earthling by the hand and all but drug him to the core of Zinris.
Traditionalist elders tried to stop them from going. Some threatened them with violence while other elaria stepped up to defend them, stating that it should be up to Elzira to judge whether or not they deserved to be parents! And most surprising of all was who came to escort them the rest of the way. Anahera's own mother, Tabaxi, stood by her daughter's side. She was...less than thrilled at the thought of hybrid grandchildren, but having lost her daughter once already (when she'd initially left to live with the yaeli) she wasn't keen on losing her again.
If putting up with hybrids was the price she had to pay for a 'family' then so be it.
From the moment Rawiri and Kahukura bloomed tensions were high. For everyone that looked at the twins fondly there was someone else there to curse their blood. They were as unique as they were dreaded and because of this the girls were raised mostly in isolation. For the most part their grandmother, Tabaxi, looked after them while Anahera and Sobaka worked. Sobaka did his best to instill yaeli core beliefs in his daughters, but the Aishan influence was strong. They may not have been raised in Zinris, but it was important that they have the same education as any pure blooded Elarian.
Despite the tensions of their childhood the girls remained close with one another. While Rawiri grew to accept her uniqueness, even to revel in it, Kura seemed almost embarrassed of hers. She loved her father, truly she did, but what was she to think when his side of the family abandoned them? And even when they met other earthlings all they did was stare.
There were some points in her childhood that Kura would tie string onto her ears to try and lift them. Other points where she attempted to dye her hair or even pick out her crystals (she stopped, of course, the second she pricked her skin). Instead of learning to use her silver tongue to charm people, as her sister has begun to do, she uses her skills to get them to leave her alone. Having grown up in relative isolation has made Kahukura an introvert to the extreme. She enjoys nature, loves to explore the land around her and train as she's supposed to in the Aishan ways. That being said when she has to talk she stumbles and expects the worst from people.

Hi Moose, thank you for the quest. Just a quick set of questions from me (ely).
So just to confirm, Kahukurais being raised as an Aishan over an Earthling?
As an introvert, how do you envision her relationship with other Aishans being as she grows up, as well as with other Earthlings? Is there a side she is drawn to, or does she feel lost in the fact she's split between the two very conflicting races?

Yep! She's definitely being raised with far more of an Aishan influence over Earthling. Of course papa dear Sobaka will have a part to play in her upbringing, but in the grand scheme of the parental relationship he's whipped. That's not to say that he's completely without character or influence in how his daughter's are raised, but Anahera is the more dominant personality. I see her as very self-assured, ready to take on the world, as is her mother, and he's just happy to go along with it.
I feel like as an introvert Kura will be more drawn to what she's comfortable with simply because new things sometimes bring unwanted attention. (i.e. uncertainties and drama, either in interactions with others or fear of not knowing her place). With that in mind I can definitely see her pulling more towards the Aishan half of her heritage, at least now, and unless interactions with others (i.e. player characters, npc's, etc) change that then she'll definitely stick to what she knows.
On the whole she isn't really comfortable around anyone that isn't family. Even a close friend of the family (maybe an Elarian who stayed friends with Anahera) saying something in passing about her 'strange eyes' will stick with her and cause Kura to be self-conscious. It's definitely something that she'll struggle with going forward and I can envision a journey of self-discovery as she grows.
