Name: Rawiri
Race: Elaria x Yaeli
Gender: Female
3 Base Traits: Soft-spoken, Elegant, Egotistical
Personality: Rawiri is a woman who, in the face of speculation and disdain from many, has grown to see her unique attributes as a blessing rather than a curse. Proud of her unique parentage among the Elaria, she places great focus on her appearance and strives to be a person others will want to get to know. Because of this, she has applied a great deal of self discipline to become withdrawn, serene, and gentle in her demeanor, believing that if she is captivating enough to those around her they will listen to her without her needing to speak up.

Below it all, there are cracks in the veneer of her persona; perhaps predictably she does have some issues with her self image, and worries about what others think about her far too often. Because of this, she takes solace in the love and closeness she has with her sister, and relies on her family for support.
Description: Grey Elaria skin , with no pink on the extremities, but the creamy markings . Favor sharp geometric shapes, on cheeks or collarbones/chest (CC but willing to discuss if artist needs more input). If also able to have crystals , I'd love some crystals on her arms and chest.

Has Elaria antennae, and droopy Yaeli ears, Elarian eyebrows.

Earthling eyes with black sclera and silver Yaeli pupils and Yaeli purple hair , dreaded (style inspired by this, can be simplified though! XX
Clothing: Elaria style, Yaeli glasses, base colors of cooler colors with pops of Elaria yellow. Inspired by this or CC, no preference. XX
Accessories: Antennae jewelry inspired by this XX
History:

The tale of Sobaka, a Yaeli merchant, and Anahera, his Elarian lover, is certainly a strange one indeed.

Even though she had been trained to wield swords, Anahera had always shown interest in mercantile affairs. She lived for the thrill of a good bargain and haggling came as easy to her as breathing! It's what led her to make connections with any earthling that would speak to her, which wasn't many, but she tried never the less. Her dogged determination landed a few contracts, one of which being a partnership with Sobaka.

At first it was merely that; a partnership that brought the two together from time to time when it benefitted them. They would exchange goods, possibly pass some trade secrets and deals, then be on their way. However, as time passed so did feelings and eventually the two found themselves becoming more than friends. Initially they tried to fight it. Both had been raised to think the other some sort of monster, but prejudices were only as strong as the belief one put into them. In the end love won out and the two began a relationship in earnest.

The pair ended up settling as close to Zinris as Anahera felt comfortable, and made a living through their mutual love of the deal. Anahera stayed as close to her roots as possible, all while facing no small amount of criticism for taking an earthling lover, but all the while keeping her head held high. She was nothing if not determined to keep her life how she wanted it; the world be damned! Sobaka, however, had been dismissed entirely by his family. The moment he claimed he had fallen for an Elarian they dropped him entirely, spat on his good name, and said he was as good as dead to them. In the beginning it hurt, but over time he saw it as a sort of test. That if they'd really loved him at all they would have at least tried talking him out of it instead of reacting with harsh words!

In those early years the pair said little of children. Passing fancies, really, since they didn't think it would ever be in the cards for them. And yet...years later it was said that Elzira could produce hybrid blooms and low, one had been created! Taking this as a sign Anahera snatched her earthling by the hand and all but drug him to the core of Zinris.

Traditionalist elders tried to stop them from going. Some threatened them with violence while other elaria stepped up to defend them, stating that it should be up to Elzira to judge whether or not they deserved to be parents! And most surprising of all was who came to escort them the rest of the way. Anahera's own mother, Tabaxi, stood by her daughter's side. She was...less than thrilled at the thought of hybrid grandchildren, but having lost her daughter once already (when she'd initially left to live with the yaeli) she wasn't keen on losing her again.

If putting up with hybrids was the price she had to pay for a 'family' then so be it.

So, the parents-to-be prayed to the tree, Sobaka somewhat uncertainly if earnestly... and their faith was rewarded with not one, but two blossoms. Inside were twin girls - nonidentical but still so similar, who they named Rawiri and Kahukura.

The girls were raised just outside of Zinris. When their parents were home, they were lavished with love and attention - the four of them were a tight-knit family, especially since Sobaka's side of the family had cut them all out. But when their parents went out to trade, they stayed with their grandmother Tabaxi. The woman, even in their childhood, stressed Aishan pride and values, filling their heads with stories of Elaria and Alkidike triumphs.

Growing up, it was impossible not to feel the specter of the Extremists in the settlement however. Many of them still lived there, and detested the idea that their own tree was becoming muddied, just like Aisha had been so long before. Others were wary, but less hostile - and the fact other hybrids were being born from the tree made their childhood less fraught than their Alkidike counterparts must have been, so long before.

Still, the girls took solace in one another, especially when their parents were away. As she grew, instead of resenting her Yaeli appearance, thanks to her father's presence and mother and grandmother's love and support Rawiri grew to appreciate her uniqueness. She learned how to use a silver tongue, thanks to her parents - but was less eager to use it for trading, and more to charm other people.

Hi Scar, thank you for the quest. Just a quick question from me.

So just to confirm, Rawiri is being raised as an Aishan over an Earthling?

You say she's quite the charmer...how do you envision her relationship with other Aishans being as she grows up, as well as with other Earthlings? Is she going to dance the line between the two sides of her heritage, or focus on one over the other?

Yes, she's being raised Aishan. She has trouble, outside of her family, being her genuine self as she's always feigning confidence, and has trouble trusting people other than her sister with her more fragile side. She puts up a front, and when she feels that front is as risk of being crossed she becomes uncomfortable.

In some ways, she likes Earthlings better - not because they're earthlings, but because she can put on her persona and they won't know the difference because they won't interact with her as long as those who live in her settlement.

As her parents are merchants, she's curious about traveling outside of Zinris and meeting earthlings, but ultimately she was raised to be a loyal Aishan and would always come back home after her travels (at least as she currently is).
