Liio was wandering around the settlement they were resting at, located on the border of Sauti and Tale. They had been traveling from the north of Zena, doing their typical migration back and forth as they often did. This time, both siblings were practicing their newly discovered magical talents, a bit in different ways. Liio knew he had different attunements compared to his sister, more content with stealth and protection than the wild magic his sister was trying to control.

But even with the differences, it was nice being able to train with her. He appreciated having his sister so close, both in travel and in relationship. He knew someday they might split up, but for now they were a pair that was getting a chance to travel and grow.

Liio knew that there was some sort of small festival happening in the settlement. It wasn't a big one, so the festival was tame and mostly focused on the seasonal harvest instead of the glam of the bigger places. Either way, it was nice to have something to do outside of travel for once.

[Elna 1]

Elna wrung her hands while she waiting for Liio. They were supposed to be going to the festival tonight. It would be helpful to take her mind off of her problems for a night. Though she wasn't sure if her problems would follow her or not. She sighed and let her shoulders drop. She supposed if she was worried like this all of the time there would be no controlling her magic.

She saw Liio at the other side of the village square and jogged over to him. "Are you ready to go, maybe?" She asked him tentatively. They were starting to set up the festival and from the looks of it they had already started to cook some food to sell.

[ Liio 2 ]

As his sister approached, he smiled brightly at her and waved back. He didn't notice how anxious she seemed to be, instead he was starting to get into the atmosphere of the festival. The small ones were always the best, as the familiarity of the crowd was easy to get swept up in.

"Sure, are you?" He asked in response, butting his shoulder against her own, "It's about time we took a break from traveling and training to just relax and enjoy it all!" He added as he opened his arms as if presenting the world to his sister.

[Elna 2]

Elna nodded her head quickly and shot her brother a quick although nervous smile. She took a deep breath in and tried to see all that Liio was showing her and enjoy it like she could tell he was.

The village was on the small side, but they seemed to have taken pride in their decorating. Everything seemed very well made and thoughtfully put together. It did look like it would be a good time. "Do you think there's food ready yet? I think we're kind of early still." She asked her brother. She always felt like snacking when she was feeling nervous, though now her nerves were more from being in a social setting with so many absolute strangers.

[ Liio 3 ]

At her question, he looked around at the vendors. All of them seemed to still be cooking and prepping, though the sound of sizzling and the smell of cooked meals did fill the air.

"You know, I'll bet we could persuade them to sell us a bit if we find the right vendor." It took a few more minutes of wandering before he caught sight of food being prepared in packaging, and he nodded in the direction.

"If you're hungry, it looks like that one is about ready to go. Want to try and be first in line?"

[Elna 3]

Elna nodded her head as Liio spoke, still wandering as they talked through their options. Her eyes followed where Liio was gesturing to and she saw the same thing he did. There was something almost ready and getting put up to sell.

She couldn’t quite tell what it was from here, but looked like possibly some kind of sweet? It was hard to say. ”Yeah, let’s see if we can snag some. Can you tell what it is?” She was already moving with Liio toward the stall so whatever it was wouldn’t be a mystery for long.

”Maybe we can also see if there’s anything interesting for sale as well?” she commented. They were so close to Tale at this point there had to be interesting things she hadn’t seen before or at least in a while. It had been so long since they had been out this way.

[ Liio 4 ]

Being taller than his sister, Liio was able to push to his toes and glance further into the vendor's stall. It looked like some sort of sweet on a stick, though it was possible they also has a pastry? It almost looked like they were creating a spiraled bread with sugar on it, all stacked upon a stick. Surely a snack worth trying, and if they were making it fresh than they wouldn't mind selling them as they baked? At least that was the way he would spin it if they faced any resistance. Turning toward his sister, he relayed the message of what the meal was, waiting to see if it was interesting enough to attempt a purchase.

Humming at the second comment, he was interested in maybe upgrading some of his more worn items, and possibly getting a trinket or two to stash away on his travels. They didn't quite have a home, so most of his items were small, but meaningful all the same.

[Elna 4]

Elna listened to Liio’s description and felt her mouth watering at the sound of it. As if on cue her stomach rumbled and she smiled sheepishly to Liio. “I think that sounds great. We should see if they’ll sell us a couple to try.” She had a bit of a sweet tooth lately and from the sound of it, this might satisfy her craving.

Liio seemed agreeable to looking through the vendors’ stalls after their snack and her mind was already flipping through things that she might like to look for or just what random things she might find that would strike her interest. She was mostly thinking about magical items, but anything really could catch her attention if she was open to it.

[ Liio 5 ]

As they approached the vendor, Liio was able to easily get some of the fresh snack with a flash of a coin, pulling the tall items back and handing one to his sister. Moving away from the stall so they could enjoy it without being jostled (others had noticed and smelt the treat and were already rushing over) he grinned and took a bite from the item. It unraveled a little bit but overall was delicious.

"Where to next?"

[Elna 5]

Elna inhaled the scent of the sweet and took a large bite, trusting that she wouldn't be disappointed. It was some sort of pastry skewered on a stick much like Liio had described. What she wasn't prepared for was the flashing of cinnamon in the twists of the pastry. Liio seemed to be already making a mess of his and Elna tried her best to learn from how he was approaching it and keep hers together.

"Well this is great." She beamed a grin at Liio and let her shoulders relax now that her stomach was feeling better. She patted a hand absentmindedly on her purse, holding the food in the other. "Well, shopping I suppose. I think I saw the stalls stretching this way." She gestured with her pastry toward the left and tried to tiptoe to get a better view above the crowd.

[ Liio 6 ]

He smiled back, already having all but inhaled his and glancing about to where he needed to toss the stick. It was a sugary jolt to his system, and gave him a bit of energy to continue on their trek. Glancing over to where she pointed, he took in the different colors and textures of the stalls, trying to make head or tails of what each one sold.

"Let's see...lots of food still, maybe some games?" He murmured, guessing from the gaggle of younglings that were huddled farther down.

[Elna 6]

Elna wobbled back and forth on her toes, trying to see farther than the younglings but couldn’t quite make out what was down there. “Well, the only way to find out is to go, right?” She finished her sweet and tossed the stick where Liio had put his own. “Maybe the games would be fun.” She grinned to Liio before following his lead and heading down the rows of stalls.

[ Liio 7 ]

It was times like these he enjoyed traveling with his sister. They were a pair, knew each other's strengths and weaknesses, and always found a way to have a little fun on their breaks. Surely they were unstoppable, at least in his mind. All they needed now was to find a place to study and train and maybe they could figure out a place to settle.

Though Liio wasn't sure he would be able to truely settle in one place.

Approaching the games, he teasingly smirked at his sister before picking up one of the balls used to hit the targets, his expression clearly challenging her to see who would do better. Oh yes, this was a fun break indeed!

[Elna 7]

Elna grinned to her brother and grabbed a ball herself. She already knew she would lose but the feeling of competition and having a good time with Liio were worth it. She threw the first ball, it bouncing poorly off of the backboard of the stall and laughed out as Liio made his shot.

She was so grateful her brother had come with her on their travels and was there for her to rely on.
