Rosetta was outside, having finished with her classes for the day. It was a bit overwhelming, teaching so many young Kitsu at once. Before she had just the four students when she was a governess for the Frost family. Granted, somedays they felt like twice as many. But that was a given when your father was the very spirit of mischief and fun. Naturally he would have raised kits with the same prankster nature. She should pay a visit to the family, soon. She missed them. She saw Eira, the cook, every so often in town, buying supplies. When she could, she managed to have a short conversation with her, see how the family was doing. Always the same, Eira passed on. That was good. She didn't expect to see the other members of the family down here, not so close to summer. They always preferred the cold.
As did Rosetta, of course, being a Tundra. The snow had melted and the temperature was rising. She'd never thought about what she'd do during the summer before she decided to try her luck teaching in the closest town. She'd already been leaving her hat at home for a while, now, leaving her ears to be free. Perhaps she should invest in a sun hat. Black ears would not protect her from the sun's rays. Nor would the fluff around her neck. Dare she trim it off?
It was pretty, at least. The changing of the seasons. As Rosetta banished the thought of cutting off her long fur, she looked down at the book on her lap, turning a page and trying to focus her attention on reading. The world around her kept drawing her attention away. She sat on a bench near the outskirts of the town, the forest before her. She watched birds flit from one branch to the next and animals just waking up from hibernation. The trees were budding, the grass was coming alive in colors of green. Soon there would be flowers. She was excited to see flowers.
