 Haust breathed out a sigh of exhaustion as he looked up towards the surface with eyes resembling a dead fish. He'd up and blown it somehow, hadn't he? Just had to imply he was asking a girl out on a date... just one time was all it took, and he hadn't been able to find Kelpie again.
Not in the several days... turned weeks... since he'd last seen her.
Aaaaahaaaa... He'd really done it this time... And he'd been really looking forward to hearing what the surface was like from someone outside of his extended family. Not that their stories were worse... They just hit kind of different. And really, he just wanted to make a friend really. To think someone at his age had drifted so far away from his childhood acquaintances - he really wished he had a drive like his sister at times. Maybe then he wouldn't have gotten his hopes so up, or maybe he wouldn't be in a place to get his hopes up in the first place.
Grrrr.... his stomach grumbled in agreeance, and he mused if he should get going to pick something up soon.

Kelpie had gone off to explore some other things in the area that could not be found in the water. She looked at the flowers and sought out animals that were not in the water. It took her a long time, but soon she returned to the water with a bag of apples to share with Haust. Keplie figured they wouldn't be affected much by the water. After all, she couldn't take cookies or bread under the water and expect it to survive. Kelpie wanted to visit with Haust again, he was nice and it reminded Kelpie how lucky she was to be able to move between the land and water with a fair amount of ease. She made her way back to the water and jumped in with her treat hoping she would be able to find Haust again before too long. She didn't think he had moved from the area but it was hard to say since they had only met one time and promised to meet up again for lunch another time. She had the apples in a bag at her side as she saw through the water looking for her new friend.

And lookie here, he was so caught up in his head that he was even beginning to hallucinate some friends... Now that took some level of self-depreciation that he didn't want to admit to that he'd start to imagine he was seeing... not even 'familiar faces' per-say, but faces he'd like to see again.
Yeah, perhaps he needed to get a move-on.
With a self-depreciating sigh, he turned away from the 'hallucination' and began to slowly swim towards the Spring center.

Kelpie blinked she had not expected Haust to swim right by her as if he hadn't even seen her at all. It was very strange but not something she was going to allow. She swam right up to him and put her hands on her hips and said "Hey you can't just ignore me, if you don't want to have lunch together anymore have the guts to say so, don't just swim away from me, I stayed in this area so I could see you again you know." Kelpie was so mad. "I don't normally stay in one place very long for your information." She huffed.

Haust paused in his swimming as the 'hallucination' cut him right off, simply blinking in disbelief.
Wait... What?
She was real........?
OH NOW HE FELT LIKE A DAMN IDIOT.
He raised his hands up somewhat defensively, a bright flush spreading across his cheeks. "No! NoNoNo! I want to have lunch together, 100%. 1000%! I just hadn't seen you in so long, I thought maybe you were avoiding me... So when I did see you just now, I thought my mind was playing tricks on me." Oh god he sounded pathetic when he said it out loud.

Kelpie kissed his cheek "Calm down it's alright." She smiled he was really sweet and had been nothing but nice to her. He didn't have to be after all she was a fish with a halo which wasn't really normal. "Come on let's go have lunch, I brought some apples from the surface for you to try." She said with a smile.

Haust.exe has stopped working.
The orange sprite blinked as he stopped his excuses to try and process the soft sensation he'd just felt against his cheek, a very bright flush immediately covering his face once he did. "O-oh, uhhhhh okay. Okay!" He vigorously nodded back to her suggestion. He wasn't sure what she meant by the kiss - was she just messing with him or had she meant it in a more flirtatious manner? - but he wasn't going to think too hard about it until later.
"I've never had an apple," he commended as she followed after her towards wherever it was she'd want to have lunch.

Kelpie turned back to Haust and she said "Where do you think we should go for lunch? I don't know this area like you do." She had only really been in this area for a few days so this was all pretty new to her and she didn't have a suggestion as to where they should go sit to have their lunch. She grinned thinking about him trying an apple for the first time. "You are going to love them there is nothing like them in the water."

"Were you wanting like a cafe or a nice picnic area or something?" Haust returned as he continued to follow after her. He could think of a couple of places either way, and if he wanted to contribute... "...or we could pop by a place for some takeout and then bring it with us for a picnic? I'm not sure how apples taste, but I'm sure some kelp and fish would go great with it."
He was looking forward to spending this afternoon with her and, honestly, rather touched that she'd remembered him when she was up the last time.

Kelpie smiled "Let's get some take-out and then do a picnic that sounds really nice." She hadn't spent a ton of time in the water and didn't know about this area so she was curious to see what kinds of take-out places they had down here. She looked forward to learning about his home and seeing what it was like. She nodded "I agree kelp and fish go with everything." She found it funny since her name was Kelpie. She found a great number of things funny. Kelpie enjoyed finding humor in life and not taking things too seriously. She moved forward with him eager to spend the day with him.

Haust's mood was definitely improving by the minute. "Sure thing - there's this great place nearby that should be open now. I'm sure you'll love it! Cross my heart, if you don't I'll find somewhere you do." He started leading her towards this little hole in the reef. "What have you been up to recently anyways? Up on the surface I mean."

Kelpie smiled "I'm sure I'll love it, some of my family lives underwater full time so it's comfort food." She said warmly. Topside food was interesting but it just wasn't the same as undersea food which Kelpie had grown up on, she had only struck out onto land when she had gotten older. She shrugged "Just wandering the land nothing really special, got the apples for us otherwise just biding my time till it was time for us to meet up again. What about you have you been doing anything fun lately?" She asked in a curious tone. She wanted to know more about him.

That was a relief to hear. Given Haust likewise lived underwater full-time, it was all he'd ever known. "Still though, that sounds pretty interesting to someone who can't go up there. On my end..." he shrugged somewhat dismissively. "...nothing really... I can't seem to find anything that I'm like, passionate about enough to want to do as a profession, you know? But at the same time I don't want to just do something to pass time... It's hard." Such was life though. His dad insisted he'd find something someday, but at the days went on, he had to wonder.

Kelpie listened and then said "Aren't there ways for you to go topside too?, pretty sure I saw others like you at a Venus resort once, but I could be wrong. It's something we should research or find a magic item if need but. If you want to go top side that is, if you are open to trying perhaps that might be where you could find your calling. " She paused and then said "I haven't figured out what is right for me either, so I totally get not wanting to take on something to just pass the time."

Haust shook his head. "Not really - my parents said they didn't get legs like regular naiad up there, and they dried out more quickly than my aunts and uncles. To move around they had to fly, but our wings aren't that strong. Only works for a bit." Oh well, it wasn't like it was terrible down here. He shrugged. "I probably just need to try more things out."
