It was nice to have her daughter and one of her grandsons home when she was. It gave her more of an excuse to cook, not that she ever really needed one. Cooking was something she enjoyed but she also liked when those she cooked for found her food to be yummy. “It was nice of you to stop in and visit, Thea.” She smiled warmly at her youngest girl. “Have you talked to your father or your siblings yet?” She had to admit she was curious to see if she was the first stop of not. Not that it mattered she just liked for the family to be close.

Hearing her mother ask her about stopping in to see her dad and siblings made her look to the side. “Oh, uh.. I stopped in to see Dovi.” More like she’d annoyed him as usual. It made her happy when she managed to steal his tools out of his pockets while he was trying to work. The frustration he showed was so amusing. Even if she was grown and had kids of her own, irritating her brother never got old.

“Grandma.. she just made Uncle Dovian mad at her is all.” He smiled as he ratted his mom out. He was a mama’s boy, sure, but when it came to his grandmother there was no competition. “She kept taking his tools and hiding them.”

She made a clucking sound with her tongue as she heard the answer from both of them. “Really Thea, your brother has enough stress to deal with.” She shook her head at her daughter then looked at her grandson with a fond expression. “And what about you dear? Did you stop in and see your grandpa before you came over? He should be at his usual spot selling things.” It wasn’t like they could miss Bushi, he always had his familiars with him.

“It wasn’t as bad as my son is making it out to be.” She gave her son a look as she spoke. One that told him to shut his mouth. She didn’t want to be in trouble with her mother. The woman was sweet and innocent looking until she lose her temper then she was scarier than any wild beast in the desert. She wasn’t sure how her dad had thought to call her mother ‘Sprite’ like she was cute or something.

“No, I haven’t stopped and seen him yet.” He had been meaning to but his mother had dragged him along with her to spend time with Phaedra. Something about doing something nice for his grandma. “I’ll be sure to though, I promise.” He always got nice things when he went and seen the bear of a man he called his grandpa.

“Mhm. I remember how troublesome you were when you were little.” She looked at her daughter. “Always into things.” The leaf woman smiled as she gave her grandson a wink. It was clear she was teasing her own child. “I think your grandfather would like that Lynx. Take your brother too if possible.” She knew Bushi enjoyed seeing the little ones. Having a big family of his own was always a joy. And she was quite pleased she could give him that.

“Mom!” She caught sight of the wink shared between Phaedra and Lynx and she gave her mother a look. “I see, making my own son think I was a rowdy child.” She shook her head but chuckled. “According to dad you aren’t all smiles and hugs either you know.” Oh she’d heard some stories about how her mom had scared her dad a few times.

The mention of taking his brother made him nod his head. Of course he’d have to bring Iexa! The two always did things together. Even though they were growing they were still identical twins and all that. It was fun to mess with people when they couldn’t figure out who was who. As his mother mentioned stories about his grandma he perked up. “Oh? What did Grandma do?” Now he was genuinely curious.

“Tut tut. None of that.” She lifted a hand and shook a finger at Thea and when Lynx showed interest she internally groaned. “Nothing dear, just proved I wasn’t some helpless woman is all. Where do you think your mother got her strength?” A calm smile was given to her grandson and she turned back to the preparations of the meal. “Theanduri, would you peel the carrots please?” Since her daughter wanted to gossip so much she would put her to work.

She opened her mouth to answer Lynx when her mother cut her off. A smile formed then. It seemed her mother didn’t want everyone to know that she had a temper when her fuse finally burned out. As she was told to peel carrots she moved up and grabbed the vegetable then pulled out her own dagger to do the task with a bit of smugness.

His eyes went back and forth between his mother and grandmother several times. “Oh come on..” He whined. He knew there was a juicy story in there somewhere. There was no way it was as simple as his grandma had said. “What did you do grandma? Did you wrestle grandpa into marrying you or something?” He laughed at the thought.

“Wrestle him!?” She practically dropped the knife she was using to cut the food with. “Goodness! No.” Of course she couldn’t help but laugh at the idea. The fact that her grandson thought that Bushi could be wrestled into anything was funny. The man might not like to do much as far as exercise but he wasn’t a push over either. “I won your grandfather over with my cooking.” She lifted the knife to point at Lynx. “If a girl ever cooks for you she’s likely trying to get your attention.”

She gave a snorting laugh at her son’s question about wrestling. It was too funny to ignore. Even more so when one but adult humor on it, but she said nothing. The look she got from her mother was enough to keep her silent. “Your grandma is really good at cooking.” Was all she said.

He noticed the reaction of both women and narrowed his eyes at them. There was something there he was sure but neither were going to tell him. When Phaedra told him that if a girl ever cooked for him she was trying to get his attention he cringed. “Does that mean I have to eat the food or even pay attention?” Lynx didn’t want to be mean but he was very picky when it came to his food. Whatever his grandma cooked was good and his mom had some of her skills, but otherwise he only got food from certain stalls and didn’t like to try new things.
