Gael 1/10
Telling his daughter the good news hadn't gone exactly as planned. She'd been a bit upset about it all. Of course she'd also left the house to go sit outside and pout. Gael gave her a minute or two to herself as he told Kalli he would handle it then made his way out to talk to her.
"Brexxa? Sweetie, would you like to tell me why you're upset?" He had a feeling he knew but he wanted to be sure before he jumped to conclusions.

Brexxa
She sat outside in the side yard to her dad's new house with her knees drawn up to her chest. Not only had she had to deal with his dad dating a woman and basically inheriting an older set of brothers, now she had to worry about a younger siblings coming into the world as well. Her mood darkened when she heard her dad's voice. Brexxa turned her head to the side and rolled her eyes. "Go away. I don't feel like talking to you." She wasn't sure if she could talk to Gael without getting upset or crying. She was too old for that now, right? It wouldn't look at all mature or cool.

Gael 2/10
When he was told to go away he cringed slightly. Normally he might have given her the space she asked for but since this was important he stay where he was. "No, Brex, we need to talk about this one." Gael moved up beside her then lowered down to the ground so that he could sit in the yard with her. He looked forward in silence for a second then took a deep breath. "Are you mad at me? Do you not like Kalli?" He wanted to get to the root of the problem.

Brexxa
She could tell her dad hadn't listened because she didn't hear his heavy footsteps recede. Brexxa sighed as he declined to leave. She didn't much feel like talking this one out. When he sat next to her she glanced at him then looked away. He wasn't going to win so easily this time.
As they sat in silence she stewed on everything. Then he asked the questions and she glared at the ground in front of her like it had done something offensive. "No and no."

When she suddenly answered he had to figure she answered in order, though it didn't matter since both were a 'no.' Gael opened his mouth then stopped for a second. Just what did she mean by the second 'no?' "Uh.. Brex.. No as in you don't like her or No as in you do?" Had he missed something? He knew she'd been upset with him for dating but she'd never shown hostility toward Kalli. At least not openly when he was around and so far his lady hadn't mentioned being treated badly by his daughter. If she truly didn't like the woman then he messed up more than he knew.

Brexxa
"What? No. She's..." Brexxa paused and took a deep breath before releasing it slowly. "Kalli is fine." She hadn't been too crazy about her dad dating someone but the Oban woman had shown she was very caring and she genuinely liked her dad. "I can see she really likes you and she's very nice to me. There's nothing wrong with her." Brexxa just wasn't going to call the woman 'mom.' Though so far no one had pushed that issue.
"Not too sure if I like Jax though. All he does is terrorize me." He liked to pick on her. Mess up her hair. Tell her she was a cute little sister. Check in on her and tell her what not to do. It was annoying to say the least. She was used to being the oldest and now he was ruining it.

Knowing that his daughter didn't hate his lady was good. And it made him relax knowing he hadn't missed some big hint. When Brexxa said she wasn't so sure about Jax he offered an apologetic look. He knew why on that one. The teasing seemed to irritate her, even if it was amusing. "He's just pleased to have a younger sibling finally."
Speaking of younger siblings.. Gael chewed on his tongue for a second. "So.. are you upset because Kalli and I are expecting a child?" He was hoping that wasn't the case but it was looking more and more like that.

A younger sibling. She grunted at that. "Why do you need another child? Kalli has her sons and you have me!" What was the purpose of it? How did Jax not feel the same as she did? Was it because he was Kalli's birth son and she was only the adopted daughter?
Tears started to gather in her eyes. "Is it because I'm adopted? Am I not good enough!?" She faced her dad as she asked even though it hurt her to think he might say 'yes.'

He blinked as his daughter seemed to have an outburst of words. She wasn't wrong about Kalli having two sons and him having her, both had been very happy with their children. Still were. Gael was proud of Brexxa every day and he was sure that Kalli felt the same way about her sons. When Brexxa looked at him and he noticed the tears his expression softened.
"Oh sweetie. I don't think of you as adopted. You are my daughter." He reached a hand out so that his warm palm could cup her cheek. "Kalli and I wanted to have more children. We wanted to give you and Jax and Djego younger siblings to love."

She listened to her dad as he explained and leaned her head into his hand. The gesture made her tears swell up and eventually fall over to roll down her cheeks. "I don't need younger siblings. You don't need more children. I don't want to be replaced." There it was. Her fear.
She worried that Gael would forget about her once the baby was there. What would she do then? He was the only person in the world who had wanted her after she had been abandoned by her birth parents.

So there it was. Gael frowned at the words then moved so that he could wrap his big arms around his little girl and pull her close. Gently he placed a kiss to the top of her head. "No one is replacing you. No one will ever replace you." He reassured her.
Holding his daughter he moved his head so that he could rest his cheek on top of her head. "Kalli would agree with me. You are our precious daughter and no one can change that. Even if the baby is a girl she won't replace you. She will be your little sister. Some for you to love and protect along with the rest of us."

Brexxa
When she was pulled in for affection she didn't fight it. Mostly because she wanted that closeness. It was comforting while she voiced her fears out loud. But it also was very unlikely that she would get away if she tried. Her dad was far too muscular for her to overpower.
As he reassured her with his words she listened. She didn't know that Kalli felt that way about her. It was something to think about, that was for sure. "How do you know? What if you love her more than me? What if she's perfect? What if, because she's really yours, you don't need me anymore?"

It seemed his daughter's fear ran deeper than he thought and would require more than just words. If he'd have known about her feelings before hand he would have addressed them then. Even would have had Kalli come out with him.
"My little treasure, no one can replace you." Gael soothed as much as he could. "No one is perfect so don't worry about that. "I will not love the new baby more than you. I will give them the same amount of love that I give you. And I know that's a lot but I have plenty to give, I promise." Another kiss was give to the top of her head.

Brexxa
Her dad's words went in one ear and while some stayed others went right out the other because her mind was swirling with thoughts of its own. She remained silent this time, only crying as she hugged Gael. His promises were never broken unless there was something out of his control, like the weather on the sea, so it made her hopeful.

With Brexxa not saying anything he simply stayed as he was, with his arms around her and giving her comfort. As she cried he stroked her hair and back softly. "Shhh shhh, its alright now." He offered in a whisper.
"I believe you will make a wonderful big sister and I trust you to know that you are an important part of this family."
