It was well after midnight when Eris decided to power up and go see about her job. She could feel herself on the cusp of something more. Maybe her next stage. Had she finally come close to proving herself? Gods above she hoped so.

Casting one dark blue eye up at the nearly empty sky, Eris sighed. She was on top of the museum right now, unaware of anything out of the ordinary happening. There were signals all around, she can feel them, but they weren't close to her. It was almost unnerving how calm she remained despite that. Sure, the Order auras put her on edge, but they weren't coming at her. She wasn't causing issue for them right now, so there's no need to constantly work herself up.

The senshi was sitting on the ledge with her feet dangling off the edge, above the back entrance door while she tried to get her thoughts together.

Where was she going to hit tonight? Well, usually the seedier areas. It was always much easier to drain those who were inebriated. But she was honestly getting so bored of that.

"Mnn...."

Anyone who should have been in the museum after hours probably should have had a key--and probably shouldn’t have been sneaking out the second story window. It opened with a loud, creaking noise, and there was a whispered swear behind it. Movement picked up, and someone wearing all black, with a hood up, carefully clamored through the side of the building. At this height, it wasn’t even too much of a drop--and it was clear that he’d probably come up the same way he was going down, judging by how comfortable he was in twisting to reach the slight overhang below. He managed to close the window above him, glance around, and then drop down again. He brushed his hands off on his hips when he hit the ground.

Normal people didn’t come out of second story museum windows in the middle of the night, completely dressed in black, and then sneak off like nothing had happened.

He had a bag at his back, but he didn’t seem to notice anyone above him; he just slunk through the shadows, careful and precise, like he knew where all the cameras were and how to avoid them.

No, normal people should not be doing anything she was hearing. The crack got her attention and made Eris peek over, trying to see if she could see where it was coming from. She hadn't heard him going in, but he probably did it before she got here.

This was fascinating to her. Eris hummed to herself, starting to track him with her eye before she jumped to the nearest light pole, landing lightly on one foot. It seemed she was just going to follow him from above.

In all her years, she'd never actually caught a thief in the act. He was stealthy, and looked pretty knowledgeable about breaking into the museum. Should she stop him before he got to a car and left? Maybe so. There could be priceless art in there. So, she jumped down behind him and tapped him on the shoulder during one of pauses to avoid a camera.

"Excuse me," she whispered. "What are you doing?"

The man paused, rigid, and didn’t turn to face her. He was still for a second, and then twisted into the shadows of the alleyway. His face was concealed, but he could see her easily enough.

There were no cameras here, but he’d have been out of luck if this was his permanent escape point.

“Out for a walk,” he said cautiously, and even in the shadows it was clear there was a smile on his face. “Why, are you looking for company?”

He adjusted the bag on his back and held it tightly, despite the casual position he was in. It almost even seemed like he hadn’t just been up to no good. When only the lower half of his face was even remotely visible, the smile was confident, arguably even charming now that he was playing it up.

"Out for a walk?" Eris put a finger to her lips and canted her head to the side, the very picture if innocents. "I see. It is a rather lovely night for a walk and climbing out of a second story window." It was as if she was talking about the weather.

Her one good eye trained on where he'd adjusted the bag before going back to what she could see of his face.

"Not that it's my business, but... have fun in there? I hope you didn't steal anything one of a kind and important to the education of the children." Gloved hands went to her hips, and Eris just gave him her best 'disappointed mother' look. She wasn't going to fight a civilian for something like this. Really she shouldn't even care, but she did enjoy the museum when she visited. Ancient treasures were to be protected.

The man paused--stiffened, briefly, when he became aware that he’d been caught, but relaxed quickly afterwards. He was surprised, but not alarmed, not worried.

In fact, a slow grin spread across his face.

“I didn’t take anything. They didn’t have what I was looking for. Hard to take a peek during daytime hours, you know. Too many children trying to get an education, and all. I don’t suppose you were at the museum to take a midnight tour, were you? How rude of me, if I’d known there was a beautiful woman with time to kill, I would have asked you to accompany me. If you like it during the daytime, it’s even better at night.”

Her lips curled at his nature. Rin had seen the moment he realized he'd been caught, and yet he was playing it off as easily as she was. What an interesting human.

"Is it? Why, I might have to see that one day." If Rin believed he didn't steal anything, he wouldn't know. She was eyeing him still, that single eye looking him over for any signs at all he was lying.

"Though, a question." She moved her head, motioning for him to follow before walking past him, the direction he had been going. "If you didn't take anything, then why go in? Surely you staked your claim long ago, laid out this plan, and knew where your fingers itch to take." She was listening, seeing if his foot steps are following hers, but she had that air of assuming he would. That type of nearly royal air about her.

"If it's small things, that's fine, but if they're larger, I do ask you return them."

The man paused and stood up a little straighter, but there was still a playful little smile on his face--more so now that he realized she wasn’t threatening to call the police or anything.

“Even if I’d taken something, I’ve only got my bag on me. I couldn’t really fit anything large in here,” he said, and turned to the side just slightly so she could observe his perfectly normal, absolutely average, backpack.

He walked with her though, like he had nothing to be afraid of.

“You make me sound like such a criminal, staking claims, itchy fingers. I told you, I didn’t take anything.” He didn’t answer what he was doing in there, otherwise, though. “Why do you care about what happens to the things in there? If something’s stolen, they’ll just replace it. They’ve got loads of unsorted boxes and things in the back, you know.”

"Ah, but just because it 'could potentially be replaced' doesn't mean it always can, but if it's only small things, carry on." She shrugged a little. Eris continued on the way, not really having an idea of where they were going, but knowing it was away from the museum.

Hopefully he was a truthful thief. That she could deal with.

"So... What got you into stealing anyway? Can't find a normal job or just extra money?"

No one said Eris was subtle. "Or just... find a thrill in taking things? I remember the one time I shop lifted, there was a little rush." It had been some chap stick, nothing big, but she still intentionally took it without paying. She wasn't going to tell him that she did feel horrible guilt afterward, to the point it was just a pit in her stomach. Maybe she went back to the store a couple days later and left a couple of bucks on the shelf she got the chap stick from.

He laughed, and paused so he could look at her. He continued walking away from the museum, hardly even looking suspicious. He carried himself too confidently, too casually. “You ask a lot of questions for a girl who hasn’t given me her name yet. And I’ve been polite so far,” he reminded, only now actually taking a moment to give her a quick look over as he examined her costume with a bit more scrutiny.

“I haven’t even asked what you’re doing out in something like that. I’ll humor you, because I’m weak to a pretty girl, but it’s only fair if you answer some of mine, too.”

He followed through on that promise and answered, “I’m not stealing to steal. I’m looking for something. Somethings.” On that, he didn’t expand. “I won’t lie, sometimes I find things in my pockets, but I have morals. I don’t take what anyone else needs.”

But then, his questions. “What’s your name, what are you doing out here?”

Eris hummed as he continued to explain himself. Honestly he was right. He had been very polite so far for someone giving him a little bit of grief. Then he called her a pretty girl and she couldn't help but roll her eye, even if a flush did appear on her cheeks at that.

"Eris," she replied, when he asked her name. "Just call me Eris. I... am also gathering things." Her eye slid to his face, trying to make out more of his features. She could say that much, couldn't she? Gathering energy was technically stealing. Most of them didn't notice, though. She just drained enough to make them tired and put them some place someone could see them. Eris wasn't completely heartless.

Even in the darkness, he didn’t miss the way color splashed across her cheeks. The corner of his lip ticked upwards in a bit more of a smile.

“Eris, Goddess of Strife? Discordia, herself? Well then, it’s an honor. You certainly look as if you could have come from the heavens. What are you gathering?” he asked, and it was obvious that he was amused, but in a good mood. He assumed she had simply chosen a pseudonym, but far be it from him to criticize anyone for not sharing their identity with a stranger.

“Followers? Or are you looking for trouble, tonight? Because, I might not mind getting into a bit with you.”

Followers? She hadn't been approached by anyone wanting to join her ranks. It didn't occur to her to try to recruit either, so Eris just gave a one shouldered shrug. Her good eye glanced at him again, narrowing and judging. How much did she want to tell him?

"No, not quite that." A small smile tugged at her lips. "Energy is what I'm gathering." And with that, Eris turned to him and reached out with one hand, trying to cup his cheek. If he let her, she would try to pull a little energy from him. Just a small bit, so he'd feel just the barest bit tired. If he moved away, well, she did end up looking foolish didn't she?

He did not pull away, because what man in his right mind would shy away from such a beautiful woman? He didn’t quite lean into it, but it was close enough. His eyes moved to search her face like he was trying to read her, trying to understand.

“And what are you going to do with all that energy?” he asked, and maybe it hadn’t quite registered yet that she was draining him; he seemed like he was just fascinated by her.

And not just because she could have called the police on him and didn’t.

He placed his hand over hers while he watched her closely, as if looking for her to reveal something of herself to him.

"Oh, it goes to a powerful woman who gives others her powers." She wasn't lying. Would he understand? No. But that was fine. Eris smirked as his head sort of moved into her hand. Kind of like a dog who wanted to stay aware from years on the streets, but a little touch starved.

But then his hand was placed on her gloved one, and she let her eye dart to it before looking back at him and just looked back at him. He was searching for something, and it unnerved Eris a bit.

Still, she didn't want this civilian to get the better of her. So she kept her face as calculated as she could. ....With a tiny dusting blush creeping across her cheek and bridge of her nose. Being stared at was one thing. Being examined like this wasn't something she was used to. Eris probably wouldn't ever been keen on this either.

With a touch of impatience in her, Eris pulled her hand away and then put both behind her back and started walking again.

"You should be more careful when you go around at night."
