“Alright.. where is he?” She huffed out as she walked into the forge with her hands on her hips. She was looking for her son since she knew he was hanging out with his uncle a bit more lately. Lynx had snuck out before he had finished doing his chores. They were staying with her mother so he didn’t have a room to clean but she wanted him to help his grandmother out more.

He heard his little sister’s voice just as he was coming down with the hammer. He stopped mid strike and looked over at her as she entered then around him to make sure he was still the only one in the forge. As far as he was aware, which wasn’t much when he was working, he hadn’t seen anyone since his mentor left in the morning. “Who?” He was slightly confused as to who it was Thea was looking for.

“What do you mean who?” She gave him a straight faced look. “My adorable son, Lynx.” She moved closer to her brother to see what it was he was working on. It didn’t look all that exciting so she looked back up at Dovian’s face. “I know he’s been spending a lot of time here with you since we came to visit.”

She had a point there. Lynx had been stopping by more and more now that he was in Oba for a few days. But as far as he knew the boy hadn’t stopped in today. So he shook his head slightly at his sister. “Haven’t seen him today Thea. He do something?” He wouldn’t put it past either of his nephews to get into trouble. They took after their mom quite a bit.

She took a deep breath then let it out in a huff so that her bangs were pushed upward with the effort. “He didn’t clean up like I told him to before he left. I wanted him to help mom out a bit today.” Thea moved back so that she could lean against the workbench not being used and posed the least threat of burning her with hot metal. “Dad still works long hours so I know mom stays home and cleans and cooks when she’s not working.”

“Ah.. can’t blame him for that one though.” He lifted his shoulders as she backed away. “He’s a boy and he’s full of energy.” There was a slight nod of his head and he went back to work. His arm went up with the hammer in hand then slammed down on the metal to work it a bit. One. Two. Three. Then he turned it over to repeat. When he noticed it was too cool to continue he moved to place it back in the fire.

“I know my boys have energy but that doesn’t excuse them from doing as their told.” She gave a small pout. What happened? When they were younger they listened so much better. Lynx especially. He was her moma’s boy. Lately though, he’d been going out all day long and not spending time with her. It was weird.

“I don’t know.. you never listened when you were younger.” He pointed out as he turned to look at his little sister. Another shrug was given. Dovian wasn’t a father so he didn’t understand what it was like to have kids. “Maybe you should ask him what he’s so interested in that takes him away from his chores.” Knowing his nephew the boy would likely answer honestly. Lynx hardly hid anything unless he was trying to surprise someone, for the good or the bad.

Her brother had a point. When she was younger she hardly stayed home and her listening was a true fifty-fifty chance. She issued a groan and hung her head a bit. “I was hoping they wouldn’t act like me at all.” She was a hell child. Not to mention she was the only one of her siblings to have kids, and she’d done that very young. “Oh no.. you don’t think he’s found a girl do you? What if he makes me a grandmother!?” It was a real fear for her. She wasn’t ready for all that.

He snorted a bit and shook his head. “They are bound to act like you. You did give birth to them.” If they took Shura as an example then it was easy to see that their sister got her scary fighting skills from their mother. Though their mom wasn’t as obvious about it. As Thea showed panic over being a grandmother he laughed at her. “You better talk to him soon then!” Now that was funny to hear.

“Dovi! I’m serious! Has he mentioned a girl?” Now she was trying to get information from her brother. If he hung out with her son a lot then he might have heard something, right? He would know something she didn’t. She put her hands on either side of her on the workbench behind her and leaned forward. “You would tell me, wouldn’t you?”

“Ah.. no. I wouldn’t.” He shook his head again and gave her an apologetic look. “If Lynx came to me and confided in me about something like that then I wouldn’t tell you. It would be a breech of trust.” Of course he wouldn’t let his nephew do anything that could hurt himself or others either. So its not like his sister had anything to really be worried about.

“You are horrible.” Her arms moved to cross in front of her chest as she sighed. In truth Thea was a bit grateful to her brother that he showed such loyalty to her son. It would give him a trusted adult to go to if the need ever arose and he, for some reason, didn’t want to come to her. “Do you know where he might have gone today? I’d like to find him and have him help me.” She did have a plan of doing nice things for her mother during the day.

“Nope. Not seen him today, Thea.” He turned to check on the metal in the fire and when he noticed the hot glow he pulled it from the flames to go back to the workbench. There he quickly hammered onto it. A series of hits and he turned it over. “Maybe try the market. He likes walking through there to people watch.” He offered to her as he began the next set of hits.

“Market huh?” She had liked hanging out there too when she was younger. It had given her a wide range of targets. Thea knew that her son wasn’t taking the same path in life that she was though. He’d decided on beast tamer. Thinking of that made her perk up some and her arms fell away from her chest. “Oh.. the market is a good place.”
