Llyr 1/10
He looked around the tavern he’d been directed to. It was dimly lit but he could tell it was packed full of people. He was looking for someone in particular though. Of course he’d only been given a general description. A Matorian. While he might be in Oba they were still pretty common. Of course one thing did strike him as odd. The color of the eyes. Color of the sea. He thought Matorian’s had orange colored eyes. As he stepped farther into the establishment he did his best to locate those native to Matori and if he could he tried to see their eyes.

Gael
Someone coming in wasn’t anything new or worthy of having him turn around to look. Instead he continued to sit where he was with his drink and food. He had a bit of paper in front of him that he was jotting things down on as well. The man was writing a letter to his daughter. He’d send it to her after he was done here so that she knew he was back on land. Mostly because he still had a day or two’s worth of work to get done before he was able to go on leave.

He wasn’t sure what else to look for and after the fifth strike on finding the odd eye color he stopped in the middle of the room and looked around frustrated. He made a noise then just took a breath before speaking. “Excuse me! I’m looking for a Matorian guy with sea colored eyes, goes by the name of Gael. Anyone know where to find him!?” If nothing else then maybe he could get someone to point him in the right direction.

Gael
He heard the voice of someone speak up but again, it was nothing new. So he ignored it and carried on with his letter. It wasn’t until the strange eye color and name was dropped that he realized the person making a ruckus in the middle of the room was looking for him. Several people stopped what they were doing to look at the boy, Gael included. They all knew who Gael was, this was his usual stop and just about everyone in there was a regular. No one pointed at him though. It could be a trap or the authorities. After checking the boy out for a second Gael gave a nod of his head to the server closest to the boy who then motioned for Llyr to look toward Gael.

It was quiet for a moment. Awkwardly so. It was like everyone was eyeing him and trying to determine if he was a threat or not. As the seconds ticked by he felt his hope slowly fading but then when he looked at the server they nodded their head in the direction slightly behind him and to his left. Llyr turned to look and there he saw the man sitting in a booth. Sure enough the eye color was strange. “Thank you..” He said to the server before he moved over toward Gael. “Uhm.. excuse me. You’re Gael right? I was told I should speak to you if I want to find a ship to work on.”

Gael
He gave a nod of his head when asked if Gael was his name and then he motioned for the boy to sit at the other side of the booth. “Yeah, that’s me.” As he farther explained why he’d been sent to find him he chuckled a bit and shook his head. It must have been old man Axon. He thought it was a good joke to send the youngsters his way so that he was responsible for training them. “Why do you want to be on a ship?” That was the first bit he needed to know. If they were on it for the wrong reasons then their attitudes toward learning were all wrong. Made it harder.

He wasn’t expecting to be questioned. Why did the need to know his reasoning so long as they had a deck hand? He had a pensive look in place for a moment before he answered. “I want to travel by sea.” That would be enough right? They didn’t need to know the person reasons that he would be on the ship or what he was looking for.

Gael
He took a breath in and shook his head again. “Not a good idea to take you on as crew then. You’ll be too busy trying to sight see and wanting to jump off the ship once we reach port.” If he wasn’t going to put the work in then there was no point in taking him. He’d just be another mouth to feed and that could end badly if he didn’t pull his own weight. “Why don’t you just buy a ticket and ride like normal folk?”

“What? No.” He looked like he’d just had his puppy murdered in front of him. “No I don’t want to go to port..” He put his hand on the table between then and leaned in. “Please. I need to find a ship that’s going up the Matorian coast.” There was desperation in his tone. He tried to keep it off his face but Llyr had a feeling it was there written as plain as day.

Gael
He leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest. His eyes looked over the boy. He noticed the look on his face, the way he’d leaned forward and said he needed to go somewhere specific. It made him narrow his eyes a little. After a while he leaned forward again and uncrossed his arms as he let them rest against the table. “What are you looking for?” No one just wanted to go a certain direction for fun. There was something they wanted.

He lowered his gaze to the table for a second. He hadn’t thought it was that easy to see but he guess wrong. There was still a lot he needed to learn about hiding his emotions and things from others. “I.. I’m looking for a shipwreck. My dad and my little sister were on a boat..” That was all he could get out. He refused to accept any possibility that they were gone. Llyr looked to the side and didn’t meet Gaels gaze.

Gael
He let a breath out slowly. If it had been a thing he was looking for that would have been easier. Shipwrecks for treasure or coin were easier to let go. Shipwrecks for people.. Now there was a tough subject to deal with. “How long ago was it?” If it was within a week or so there might be a chance of finding someone alive. Provided they didn’t die on impact or sink with the ship. If it was longer than that the chances of someone staying alive went way down.

“Been a week or more.” It was closer to a month but he wasn’t going to say that. Llyr knew that the chances of finding someone alive were slim after so long. But if he could find the shipwreck then he could figure out where they might have swam to or if someone picked them up. “I have to find my little sister.” He added with some desperation. He couldn’t fail her a second time by not being able to find her.

Gael
He eyed the boy a bit and could tell he wasn’t telling the truth. If it had only been a week or so then he wouldn’t sound so desperate. He would be a bit less high strung about the matter. Gael looked down at the letter to his daughter and thought about how he would feel if it were her that was lost at sea. “Kid.. most of the ships here have destinations that don’t take them up the coast. The most you might be able to do is find one on it’s way to Belrea. And I meant straight to Belrea. That will take you as close to the coast as any captain wants to get. Matori coastline isn’t easy to navigate.”

He nodded his head as he listened to the Gael tell him what would be best to do. Belrea wasn’t where he wanted to go but based on the geography that would be his best bet. He just wasn’t sure where to start looking. Which merchant ship was going that way? Llyr couldn’t afford to ride on a boat with a ticket. “Which boats would you suggest?”
