Finding an oasis in the desert was hard to do but she was thankful that they had found one when they did. It meant she could refill on water. V'demhe took the travel bags off Ascale, her Janarim, and set them on the ground before she patted the beast on the front shoulder. "There you go boy. Give you a rest for a while." The other familiars that traveled with her didn't have bags or things to carry so there was nothing else to unload, save for the bag she carried herself. Dem lifted the strap up and over her head so that she could drop the thing to the ground. "Ahhh.. that's better." A small roll of her shoulders and she turned her attention to the water.
Most of her familiars were already over at the water for a drink so she made her way over as well. She walked up beside Maha, the blue radaku that had been with her since he was a pup, and ran her hand up his back to let him know she was there. After that she knelt beside him and dipped her hand in to test the water and see how cool it was. A smile spread over her face at the temperature. "That's nice and cool." With her hand cupped she brought some up to her mouth so she could taste it. It wasn't bad either. Still, she wanted to boil it before she gulped down too much. So she got up and went back to her bags to collect the pot she'd need for it.
Making a fire and gathering water in a pot was easy but it took more than a few minutes. By the time she got that all set up she had worked up a sweat under the desert sun and decided to rinse off with the water. V'demhe didn't want to contaminate the drinking water though, so she fished out another pot and used that to collect water for washing. With that she splashed her face and chest lightly before fanning herself to help cool down. "Its a bit warm today."

When Tytus had opted to go on leave of his company the man hadn't truly expected to linger around Oba for so long. At first his wanderings had taken him around towards Matori to check on his son but then he found himself circling back to the familiar Oban cities, his nostalgia making it hard to venture too far from his homelands. Now though he finally found himself turning towards the desert wilderness where he could just roam about while trying to find out where he should exactly go next. Jahaur had been his second most visited spot while working along the borders so it was not surprising to see that both his golden Xaraan, Rakan, and his own feet subconsciously started towards that direction. I guess that's a habit now. He teased himself when he finally realized that they were getting closer towards the border leading into Jahaur.
Despite being familiar with the landscape traveling through the desert was still not the most comfortable experience. Tytus let out a sigh as he wiped a hand along his brow, his fingers pushing back stray pieces of crimson bangs that stuck to his forehead. "I don't know about you but I could use a swim or something." Now if he remembered correctly there should be an oasis nearby where he could fill up his water canteen and rinse his face off at least. His Xaraan seemingly clucked its beak in agreement before darting forward, its talons kicking up a trail of sand behind them as they raced through the desert sands. What he hadn't been expecting was to find another at the oasis or a herd of familiars as well for that matter. Still, it was not typical for Tytus to be shy and so he smoothly slid off of his Xaraan and crouched next to the Alkidike without hesitation. "You know the desert is surprisingly hot I hear." He quipped playfully in response to the Alkidike's statement before reaching into the water himself to splash some water on his own face.

She was just splashing water onto her neck to help cool herself down when the earthling male showed up. Of course Maha had let her know there was someone there. The radaku gave a low growl and seemed to lower himself to the ground in a threatening manner but without a command from V'demhe the beast didn't move. As the man crouched near her and had a smart retort for her she gave him a fairly lazy, though amused look, then flicked water at him just as playfully as his words. "You don't say? I heard someone liken it to the weather of Zena." Her hand went up so that she could motion to the sky. "Predictable and unrelenting." With her own smart comment made she chuckled and shook her head. Dem went back to attempting to cool down. She pulled her braided dreads to the side so that she could get the back of her neck more easily. As she dripped water onto her neck she noticed that her Janarim, Ascale was eyeing the Xaraan. Quickly the Alkidike pointed at her own familiar. "Don't you even, I am quite sure they do not want to play with you." And she didn't want to have to apologize for her beast's behavior afterward.

Rakan shifted a bit whenever the radaku gave a low growl but Tytus subtly shook his head before proceeding to splash a bit more water against his flushed skin. The sudden flick of water caused him to pause a moment before a chuckle escaped his own lips. "Why thank you." He murmured before wiping some stray beads of water from his brow and glancing towards the Alkidike. "Zena, hmm? Both can be fairly vicious in their own ways while the nights do have a bite here like Zenan winds." Though the desert nights could perhaps feel as cold as a Zenan afternoon if one wasn't truly prepared for it. It was why he hoped to get away from the desert before the sun left the sky though he supposed he could always find a cave somewhere along the way if he recalled the area correctly.
As she continued moving, Tytus found himself shifting so that he could be more comfortable around the edges of the pool. The Oban casually unwrapped his own scarf from around his head, the dark material good for protecting his head from the scorching sun, and once he shook the sand from the material he found himself reaching for more water so that he could splash it against his face a bit more and then along his arms. "Hmm?" He paused for a moment to follow the Alkidike's gaze towards her familiar and amusement gleamed in his gaze. "Rakan does enjoy racing but I think even he's wanting a bit of a break right now." The golden Xaraan was in lighter leather gear, his travel packs tucked neatly against his side, and Tytus realized that he probably should remove them soon if he was going to linger in the oasis for a bit more.
"Hopefully you're not adverse to company." Commented Tytus as he slowly stood up again, dusting the sand from his leggings and motioning so that the xaraan slowly moved towards him. "Let's get that off of you for a rest." He ran his hands across the Xaraan's back and slowly unclasped the items so that he could stack them against one of the thin trees nearby. Tytus handed over some feed when he was finished before letting the Xaraan free to wander around a bit, his gaze sneaking towards the other familiars thoughtfully before settling on the Alkidike once more.

Seeing that he understood her meaning about the weather only made her smile at him. At least he hadn't taken offense to her playful remark. Dem looked toward the Xaraan that was now identified as Rakan and smiled. "He's a lovely creature. You must take good care of him." The beast looked well fed and content from where she sat. As Tytus went to remove the travel gear from his familiar she set to work on undoing her braid so that she could change the style of her dreads. With the heat rising she wanted them up off her neck. It was easy enough to do since she wasn't doing anything fancy. Her dreads went from a braid down the back to being up in a high ponytail, similar to what she wore in her younger years. As the male mentioned company she blinked and looked around. "I'm not, there is plenty of room for us both." Of course she was somewhat curious now. The last time she'd met someone at an oasis it had been a soldier on patrol. "Are you a soldier by any chance?" She didn't see an abundance of canteens with him though.

Admittedly Tytus was slightly surprised by the friendliness of the stranger. Perhaps if he hadn't encountered a kind Alkidike before in Jahaur he would have been even doubtful that this was real and not some mirage but it seemed that he was fortunate today to meet another friendly spirit. That much was obvious in the way that she looked towards his familiar. "Thank you. Rakan is a dear companion and so I do my best to try and keep up with him. It looks like you're fond of animals yourself." He noted with a nod towards her own familiars. It made him feel even more comfortable with his assessment that he could linger here without worry.
"Good to hear." Tytus grinned as he stretched out his arms before plopping back down on the ground to make himself comfortable. He watched as she fixed her dreads with interest before blinking at her question. "Sort of? I took leave to travel so I've just been roaming. Why do you ask? Are you a soldier of some type?" He asked playfully in return. "As it is you don't have to worry about any battles coming from me today since I'm on break." Though honestly it was perhaps a bit easier when he was working actively with his unit in the military since at least then he had some direction. Now Tytus was just roaming about like a lost janarim around the borders trying to find anything interesting to gain his attention.

Once her hair was up she moved one hand out and held it low for Maha. The radaku, who had previously stayed in his lowered position and watched Tytus steadily, stood tall and walked over to Dem's outstretched hand. His head butted into it and as he walked he felt it stroke down his side. Maha turned back around to face Tytus be he was now at V'demhe's side where he seemed to soak up the attention. Dem smiled and gave a small shake of her head to her familiar's behavior. "I am fond of all living things.. usually. Unless they try to kill me." If she could help it though, the Alkidike didn't kill. That meant no killing animal for sport. And in past battles Dem looked to knock out rather than end a life. As one hand rested on Maha's head and offered scritches the other hand dipped into the water and brought it back up so she could cool herself down again. No matter how many times she traveled the desert she still wasn't used to the heat. A bit of a chuckle left her when the earthling male answered yes to her question. "Apparently an oasis is a good place to meet a soldier. Last time I met one by the name of Saraf. I'm not a soldier though." Her smile turned a little mischievous when he said she didn't need to worry about any battle from him. A single, small brow rose as she eyed him up and down. "No? Shame, I bet I could win." If the man actually looked he would be able to tell she was messing with him.

"Duly noted. I guess I know what to avoid now then." Teased Tytus as he twisted open a flask and started to refill it with fresh water. The Oban had been traveling for quite a few hours and his body was eager to rest. Despite his exhaustion though his gaze was bright as he looked between the familiar and owner. "Unless of course that doesn't count towards earthlings." He found himself adding with a small grin. Wouldn't that mean he would have to work harder then? Either way Tytus was teasing since he wasn't about to pick a fight or dare try to kill anyone, especially a lovely woman just resting at the oasis.
Tytus raised an eyebrow before letting out a chuckle. "Well I suppose the chances for a soldier would be higher considering not many are eager to travel all the way out here. Surprising though considering the lovely scenery, right? Surely that's why you're all the way out here?" He doubted any civilians would want to just take a pleasure walk through the desert on their own after all. His amusement only grew at the challenge and a delighted laugh escaped his lips. "Catch me on another day and perhaps we can see about who would win a tussle." Tytus raised the flask to his lips and took a drink of cool water, his lips still curved upwards into a playful grin even when he wiped a hand across his face before reaching into the water to refill his flask some more.

"It is a good idea to avoid that, yes. Her head gave a bit of a nod to match her words but her amusement matched his. When he brought up earthlings she made a point of arching a brow and looking him up and down. A full head to toe very slowly. "I am fond of all living things. Earthlings included. My daughter is half Matorian so I have no issues." Dem looked down at her familiar as she moved her hand to under his chin to continue with the affection. "I do like the scenery." The Alkidike once more looked at Tytus as a means of flirting before she looked around at the oasis. Dem really did like the small paradise found in the desert. It was a welcoming sight after a days walk. As the man told her to catch him on another day she laughed and brought her gaze back toward him. "Another day huh? That would mean you plan to see me after we leave here." She was well aware it was possible to run into him again, she'd found people years after first encountering them by accident, but she liked teasing the man. He seemed like he had a rather relaxed demeanor and a good sense of humor.

Tytus quirked a brow but his surprise only brightened his expression. "It seems I have a habit of running into Earthling loving Alkidike." He teased lightly before nodding his head. "Whichever Matori earned your favor definitely lucked out." Thinking of a half Matori daughter made him think about his own and his expression shifted for a second before he recognized the slight flirtation. Tytus just gave a slight grin in return before he turned his gaze away from the Alkidike and towards the oasis. Admittedly it was lovely to look at but a pain to reach considering the great expanse of scorching sands between the oasis and nearest city. "If you feel that way then take your time to enjoy it." He finally offered with a slight chuckle at her own realization. "A man can hope, right? It would be a shame to leave and not show my fighting ability later when I'm well rested."
Tytus twisted the cap back onto his flask and splashed a bit more water against his warm face. "Though I suppose it just depends on what direction you're heading. I'm actually not going to Oba but rather towards Matori or Jahaur...just depends on where my Xaraan takes me after we rest up here." It would be a shame if she was going back to the Oban city because that would mean their paths could take a while to cross again. Not like Tytus should expect much other than a playful bit of banter which he truly was finding enjoyable after traveling solo for so long.

She did like earthlings. Perhaps more than she should if one were to stick to pure Alkidike beliefs. Or at least the extremist views. When he mentioned that the Matori that had earned her favor was lucky she looked down at the ground, her antennae falling just a tad. "Hm.. then he shouldn't have left me." Of course she still didn't know the circumstances behind Virain's disappearance so she couldn't be mad at him but his absence hurt. V'demhe turned her head to look at the oasis and the smile was back on her face. "I did plan on it." Of course if he'd caught on her her little flirt then he'd given her permission to enjoy him as well. A fact that made her press her lips together in a smile as she tried to keep from chuckling. With a raised brow she looked back at the fire earthling, interest on her face. "Oh? You need to be well rested in order to fight? Interesting." She watched him splash more water onto his face before she lowered her gaze to her familiar and gave him a few scritches under the chin. Dem did seem to perk up a bit when he mentioned going toward Matori though. "I was actually cutting through to Matori. I have a daughter there who is a healer, I wanted to stop in and visit with her." Her hand left Maha's chin so she could motion in the general direction of travel. "You are more than welcome to travel with me if you'd like.. Then I can see what you're capable of once you're well rested."

"Of course." Tytus gave a chuckle at the raised brow. "I wouldn't want to offer any less of a challenge for a beautiful warrior." Perhaps he had been in the desert a little too long but the Oban man was accustomed to being very open with his teasing especially when he did find another attractive. His gaze lingered perhaps a moment longer than necessary before her next suggestion earned his surprise. "It is rather dull traveling alone...Rakan is decent company but he is severely lacking for conversation." Joked Tytus lightly as he gestured towards his Xaraan. The familiar reacted almost as if he knew that his master was speaking about him and gave a low whistling noise before pointedly turning away to focus on some of the vibrant grasses growing about the oasis.
"I suppose traveling together could be beneficial." He finally concluded after a pause as if truly taking a moment to contemplate the idea. Tytus wasn't afraid of traveling alone nor did he think that the warrior next to him needed any protector but it would be nice to have someone else around just for the sake of companionship. The Oban grinned at the thought before nodding. "As long as you're confident that you can handle me then sure we can travel towards Matori and have a duel along the way. I do rather enjoy seeing the ocean after all." It was also convenient that her daughter was a healer. Tytus was certain he would need some patching up if the Alkidike was had the strength to match that confidence. The very thought made his gaze gleam with interest since he did enjoy a challenge and Tytus found himself holding out a hand without any hesitation. "I'm Tytus by the way and it's a pleasure to have your company, miss."

Either she didn't notice or didn't mind his lingering gaze because she said nothing about it. Dem smiled when he finally answered about travelling together. Her head gave a nod gently. "I think I can manage. If I tire of you I can always beat you in a fight and leave you with the closest healer." Here she paused to grin at him, a hint of mischief in her eyes. "Tytus?" She questioned. V'demhe looked him up and down once more before giving a bit of a smirk. "I like." He was welcome to take her words any way he wished because she was sure whatever he thought from the implication he wouldn't be far from the truth. "My name is V'demhe. Most call me Dem though." She took his hand finally, though it was surprisingly soft for a warrior who held a sword regularly. "So you like seeing the ocean. Have you seen the snowy mountains? I believe I have a son somewhere in Zena still that I need to check on after visiting my daughter." She was extending the invitation for him to join her on more travels in case he thought the idea a good one. Having someone to travel with was always better and Dem could get along with most so she didn't foresee an issue.

Tytus chuckled. "We'll have to see about that. Just give me a list of what to avoid for you before the fight for in case I have to take you to the healer instead of me." He teased in turn, his own gaze brightening at the mischievousness of the Alkidike. Truly out of all the things that could have happened while traveling the desert this was by far one of the best options. It had been a while since he had enjoyed another's company or rather had someone who matched his own teasing and the Oban was delighted.
"Stop you'll make me flustered." Tytus winked before moving to take her hand, his grip tightening in greeting. His own hands were slightly more calloused from recent weeks of riding and years of fighting but his movements were gentle and not as rough as some of the other soldiers were. Maybe if he hadn't been wandering aimlessly the last few weeks the Oban's hands could have been softer since he usually tended more to his appearance but he hadn't cared to do it as much while roaming. Still, he did note the softness of her hands but knew better than to think that made her less of a warrior. If anything it just made him more curious about the Alkidike who exuded so much confidence. "Nice to meet you, Dem." He took an extra moment as if studying her and allowing her to study him in turn before letting go of her hand.
Tytus pondered her question before shaking his head. "I hear that the snowy mountains are beautiful but I've never had the chance to venture up that way." He admitted before raising a brow towards the Alkidike, a small teasing smile on his lips. "You believe you have a son up in Zena? I suppose it is possible to misplace a child but that is pretty wide spread to have one in Zena and Matori. If you cannot find him in Zena then do you mean to continue traveling around?" He understood what she was implying but Tytus supposed it just depended on how their travel towards Matori went. But he was more than ready for a break away from Oba and everything else.

The idea of being bested in a fight and left at a healers was kind of thrilling, if only because it hadn't happened in a long time. Sure she'd met a few people who gave her a good spar now and then but none that could legitimately put her in a healer's care. To find that kind of strength would be interesting. This idea made her eyes shine a bit more when she looked at Tytus. Of course she also couldn't help the snicker she gave about his flustered comment. It was fun to tease him. Dem rarely got the chance to do so with people. The opportunity to study him more was taken, thankful that her eyes were a solid color and it would be difficult for anyone to see exactly what it was she was looking at. As her hand was still held her fingers moved somewhat to feel the callouses without being completely obvious. "The mountains are beautiful, though I would recommend wearing a thick coat if you do go that way." She smiled at the memory of being caught in a snow storm without the proper clothing. Dem was fairly certain she'd never shivered so much in her life. "Ah yes.. I have children in Matori, Oba, and Zena. Its sometimes hard to keep track of them when they decide to travel." The alkidike's grin didn't falter as she spoke. "I do plan to keep traveling, even if I do find my son in Zena. Until someone makes me settle down anyways." A single shoulder lifted up casually. Dem hadn't really stayed in one place for very long since Masika was a youngling.
