Please ask before using the Yasashii as inspiration. I put a lot of love and work into this tribe. Please consider that before directly mimicking aspects of this thread, Discord, and other Yasashii features. You can join via the Discord or through PM. You must get approval to join. While it is preferred one uses the Yasashii Discord to join or add members to the tribe, those who do not wish to join the Discord can PM me directly at NymiiNym. Please utilize either joining features to insert new foxes or add breeding kits into the tribe (the latter is for my personal logging). Requests to enact plots that heavily affect and alter Yasashii must be approved. Wars, direct antagonizing other tribes, plagues -- anything that affects the tribe as a whole needs to be approved. I have the right to deny any requests. Yasashii accepts any and all foxes but can banish for breaking tribe rules. The Yasashii believe in giving everyone a chance, regardless of past crimes or personalities. Regardless, breaking the laws of the tribe can result in banishment, depending on the severity of the action and the harm done to others. You are free, as always, to plot as you'd like, but keep in mind in-character actions have in-character consequences. Yasashii defaults to neutral alignment with other tribes. Due to serving as a hospital and healing center, Yasashii will approach other tribes initially as neutral. They will provide service and welcome visitors from said tribes. Direct action changes perception, and if a tribe owner wishes to ally fully with the tribe or become enemies they may DM/PM NymiiNym. You may contact NymiiNym on Discord or Gaiaonline. However please keep in mind I do not get on Gaiaonline unless for Modifoxes. I had quit prior, returning for the shop itself. You will have easy access to me on Discord, so if you want quick responses please DM me there! Incest, *****, and rape plots are absolutely forbidden. There will be no room for discussion on these matters. Your character will be removed from the tribe. The Yasashii main thread is used for RP and announcements! The main thread is an ORP for all foxes within the tribe (with special threads opening if there's a particular story-event that changes location). Those RPing in this thread will be within Yasashii land, and can interact freely with one another. Announcements will also be posted her. Check back on the most recent announcement, as the season and story will change ORP scenes. Do no harm. A member of Yasashii, regardless of role, centers themselves around the idea of doing no harm unto others. While mistakes happen and Yasashii is forgiving, violence has no place within the tribe. Physically and severely hurting those around you, whether in the tribe or not, is often followed by banishment. Exceptions are made around situations where one must fight to protect the tribe or others. Do not take what is not yours. Stealing is absolutely forbidden! The tribe generally shares most of what they have, so the need to steal shouldn't arise in the first place. Should one desperately need something they can always approach the Scouting team and make a request. Elder has first and final say and the Beta enforces their order. The Elder is appointed head of the tribe with every intention to ensure their tribe's wellbeing. Abuse of this role can and should result in removal, enforced by the Beta. Otherwise, any change in the tribe must be approved by the Elder and their word is the law. The Beta enforces this law and can speak for the Elder should they be elsewhere. One may not have intimate relations with family or a minor. It is absolutely forbidden to have a physically intimate relationship with a family member or a minor. The punishment is banishment. Do not lead outsiders into the medicinal vaults or the children's den. Medicine is kept hidden, doubling as a secret location for hiding during attacks/disasters. The children's den is also kept private, ensuring children have a safe area to return to. All members must have the tribe symbol on their body. All those who join or born into the tribe will receive the tribe symbol.

The Yasashii are a group of foxes who devote themselves to the art of medical care, provided to both tribe members and outsiders, regardless of age or social status. Essentially a hospital (which they do acknowledge as their title), each and every member has, at a bare minimum, knowledge in basic medicines and applications. While not all roles specifically cater to the sick or injured, it is expected everyone can apply first aid and CPR by the time they've officially received their tribe symbol. While Yasashii focuses on the physical recovery of injured or ailed foxes, they work directly with Luminarium to redirect mental illness cases into the right hands.
Yasashii is a large and growing tribe, welcoming almost any who turn up on their door. Payment is not necessary, however the tribe appreciates greatly if those who receive care stick around after to help daily tribe life before heading off. Often patients end up joining the tribe, although the tribe does not attempt to influence or persuade foxes to join. In fact, the tribe does not put the effort in recruiting, believing it should entirely and wholly be a fox's choice to join.
Due to its large size and frankly old age, the tribe has a thriving culture and way of living, bustling with different foods, a religion, ceremonies, and more. It's hard to scratch the surface of what Yasashii fully is without extending your stay, but generally the tribe functions on a 'do no harm' motto. They work hard to ensure they better the world around them before they depart it and that no kindness is too small.
Dahlia -- the Modeity of Healing. [She/Her]
The tribe worships Dahlia, the Modeity of Healing, often leaving offerings and performing rituals to show their appreciation for their deity. Dahlia frequently communicates with the Elder of the tribe, often affectionately considered a playful and chatty deity. During times of great need, she has provided herbs the tribe lack, placing them delicately at the Elder's den overnight. Once a season the Elder will spend the night within the Sakura Pool, where Dahlia and the Elder will communicate about the current tribe ongoings (and occasionally directly meet).
The primary focus of Yasashii is the understanding and application of medical procedures and medicines. Every fox who becomes a part of the Yasashii (whether born or joining as a rogue) is assigned a Mentor, who will tutor them in the basics of medical care. As a result, all Yasashii members can apply basic care, with many furthering their training if they take healing-centered ranks.
Yasashii does offer training to outsiders, however their training programs for those not a part of the tribe are slower and do not go into advanced care. Outsiders can be taught CPR, first aid, and identifying berries and herbs that are medicinal. These classes are often taken with kits, as Yasashii children are immediately trained in these classes.
New members come in two forms: rogues who decide to join or kits born/raised within the tribe. New members are - regardless of age or how they joined the tribe - trained in basic medicinal care. Once they've passed those classes they will select their desired rank, sometimes with guidance from the Elder and/or Beta if either feel like the fox does not fit said rank. Once it's settled on the rank they'll pursue they will be assigned a Mentor, who they'll train directly under for at least a season.
Mentors will report back to Head Roles each season. A fox will remain in training (labeled as an Apprentice) until they've effectively learned everything a Mentor believes they must know. Once they pass their training they will receive their official new rank during the next promotion ceremony.
Foxes can fail their training, although typically they'll stay as an Apprentice until they succeed or change their path. Very rarely the Elder or Beta will force a fox to change their paths.
If a fox feels they no longer fit within the tribe they may leave, although they are encouraged to truly consider their decision. Foxes who leave are not often accepted back, having already proved they were once unhappy. The tribe genuinely wants the happiness of all members, considering their mental health just as important as their physical. Tribe symbols are not always removed upon a fox leaving, although they do offer services to remove or cover tribe symbols.
Foxes are encouraged to stay where their roles need them, further backed by the tribe's work ethic. Everyone works hard to fulfill their duties, and plenty of ranks require foxes to be in specific locations. Foxes with ranks centered around travel will automatically find their desire to journey satisfied, but those who do not can request chances to explore past the tribe boundaries. Requests will not always be permitted, but the current Elder does try and work with members of the tribe. Typically, barring any extreme situations, foxes can travel at least once a year (and perhaps even more, depending on how large the tribe currently is or how slow things are at home!).
Outsiders are usually welcomed on tribe lands, especially if they need care. The Yasashii pride themselves on being inviting towards outsiders, even going as far as to be hospitable and offer meals and free lodging for up to a week. It isn't uncommon to hear that many of the tribe members were once rogues who just never left after a visit.
Yasashii will not turn others away for how they look, their reputation, or their personality. They operate on a personal basis -- if you haven't wronged the tribe you are welcomed and sheltered. The Yasashii do not tolerate those who disrespect this kindness, however, and will turn away those who have wronged them prior.
Banishment is a harsh sentence that the tribe does not often partake in, but it is at times necessary. The Elder is the only one who can decide to banish others, only doing so when a fox has severely endangered the tribe, injured someone, or continuously broke rule after rule with no regard to the safety of others. Banishment means a fox cannot ever return, nor may they ever visit. Their children may also receive skepticism if they wish to join, although the Elder will still accept them (this doesn't mean the tribe itself won't have their own unique views).

The Yasashii is a fairly accepting an agreeable bunch, exercising acceptance and understanding wherever they can. Generally viewed as a hospitable, earnest, and nurturing community, they have been around long enough to develop a rich culture of their own. While not all foxes are the same, they share the same culture and upbringing, making them distinctive in a crowd. The Yasashii culture centers around acceptance, the desire to give back, and comradery, as well as a generally mutual desire to bring more good to the world than harm.
Families within the Yasashii are tight-knitted generally, encouraged to be open and supportive of one another. Communication is important, with many families choosing to schedule many of their day-to-day activities together. Dens are situated near one another with many families sharing dens until their youngest is ready to start families of their own. Even then, children are often raised with the entirety of the family assisting.
Yasashii culture pushes the idea of accepting your kin for who they are, regardless if you agree with them or don't understand. As a result, while families may dispute or argue many choose to come together during hard times, favoring their bond over internal conflict.
While the term lifemating is still used here and there within the tribe (especially from rogues not born within), marriage is the ultimate commitment one can make. Lifemating is generally seen as a proposal, where one promises to mate for life but has not yet conducted a ceremony to cement their intent. Foxes within Yasashii exchange presents when they lifemate, typically in the form of jewelry or precious stones. Proposing lifemating can be done fox to fox, or it can be a discussion both come to together -- regardless, both parties typically exchange gifts at some point during or around their lifemating.
Marriage is a public or private ceremony where the foxes come together under Dahlia's eye. More can be read under the ceremonies post, but marriage is viewed as a sacred commitment. It is viewed as deeply shameful to try and break one's marriage or intervene. Divorce has its own place and ceremony, viewed less as something to be ashamed of and more a peaceful parting of ways.
Yasashii foxes are generally monogamous but do not judge those who are polyamorous, with lifemating and marriage supporting either way of love.
Reproduction is viewed as a joyous thing, whether with a mate or not. The Elder does not restrict breeding unless a severe disaster enforces otherwise, such as famine, plague, or another deadly occurrence. Foxes who breed with members of the tribe will just need to alert the Elder of the BCRs so steps can be made to enroll them in school and prepare the tribe for more little paws running around!
Reproducing with an outsider is not officially shunned or shamed, however, everyone is different. The official stance is it's okay, but there is an expectation one will take home at least one of the BCRs.
Should a fox accidentally reproduce (as everyone knows the Modeities have other plans sometimes) and not want to raise their children they can hand their BCRs to the Carers, who will either raise them as a group or find a family within the tribe to adopt the BCRs.
Birth is a much respected and revered experience, with new parents given plenty of care and aid to ensure they and their young make it out healthy and safe. When parents are given BCRs they'll be met by Carers and Shamans, who work together to educate the parents (if they're new to parenting) and/or check in on the parents and BCRs health. Carers will come and go frequently to check in on the new babies, even before they hatch!
The tribe understands that not everyone who has children wants them, whisking unwanted babies into the Carers paws. From there the children will find a family who wants to raise them as their own or they'll be cared for by the Carers as a whole.
Once babies become kits that can speak and comprehend the world around them they are enrolled in school, where they learn basic life and medicinal skills and develop their understanding of language. Right before they reach adulthood their Teacher will suggest the rank they end up taking, although a kit is allowed to pursue a different future.
Adulthood begins at their Coming Of Age ceremony, where they will stand before the tribe with any others of their age also experiencing the event and receive their Mentor and a feast catered to their taste. These nights are especially exciting for the Yasashii and often result in loud partying that lasts well into the morning.
Adults will then receive the Apprentice rank (this is for in-character, out-of-character skips this rank and gives the character their future rank immediately on their cert) until their Mentor views them capable enough. The Promotion ceremony is less public, with usually only the Elder, Mentor, and adult present (although foxes can invite family to attend). Once they've officially received their rank they can work their way higher or remain in their rank for life. Please read the rank post for out-of-character information on how ranks work!
Foxes who reach old age can continue their work within the tribe until they deem fit to retire. Older foxes who are ill or unable to care for themselves are moved to the elderly dens, where they'll be taken care of until they part. Older foxes who retire and can care for themselves can live wherever they wish within the tribe grounds but are given frequent visits from Shamans.
When a fox dies the tribe holds a funeral, where family and friends attend to mourn their loved one. Immediately following is a night of silence from all those who attended, meant to reflect on their loved one. The dead are often buried, although cremation can be requested prior to death. It is not uncommon for foxes to bury their dead with items important to them or that fox in question. Yasashii does have a graveyard, where foxes can go to mourn.
The Yasashii religion is not based on a set of commandments or laws that indicate faithfulness, instead, it focuses on morality and following the will of Dahlia. Truthfully, the Yasashii way can be compared to Shinto -- a religion in our real world. The Yasashii have named their beliefs as Shii, practicing their beliefs through action, prayer, and ceremonies.
Shii follows the belief that everyone and everything is inherently good. One must consider the circumstances behind an action before definitively settling on whether it was evil or good -- time, situation, reasoning, location, and purpose must be considered before defining an action as bad. There are no moral absolutes, and good is the default condition. Evil enters one from outside, influenced by outside forces and instances that can corrupt or pollute someone's goodwill, causing them to commit sin and ultimately cause impurity within themselves. Impurity can be cleansed through repeated and conscious efforts to do good. No one is forever defined by their actions.
One should try and act as Dahlia herself would, but it is noted even she makes mistakes and can do wrong. Even so, Dahlia has always been depicted within stories as someone who can acknowledge her wrongdoings and attempt to right them by continuing her pursuit of doing good.
Foxes often have a family shrine where they will pray, taking that moment to thank Dahlia for her repeated care and protection and reflecting on their recent actions and future goals. Shrines can be made from stacked rocks, weaved sticks, or anything decorative. While Dahlia does not directly hear these prayers (which the foxes are unaware of aside from the Elder themselves) she shows her appreciation at times by giving herbs and medicines, placed neatly at the Elder's den. Prayer is not meant to request from Dahlia or repent -- it is simply an acknowledgment of oneself and a moment to consider their moral truths.
Education is taken very seriously, although it primarily focuses on real-life skills. Children are given a step up in the world by having access to a series of Teachers who will teach them the skills they need to know, all at once. While the focus is on medicine and health-related skills, they also are taught to master the Modifox language, how to fend for themselves, how to light a fire, and other survival needs. They will then receive further education when they select their rank.
Rogues joining the tribe are also given schooling, although solely focused on medicinal education and their future rank. Often, they will take these classes with the current children of the tribe. Visitors who also wish to learn these skills can partake!
Schooling is designed to wrap up right before a kit reaches adulthood.
The Yasashii believe in working diligently and honestly. They do not, however, believe one must always push themselves past their limits, instead favoring a lifestyle where there is room for a fox to enjoy life. Many foxes work in shifts, switching off with others of their rank after 6-hour work periods so they may pursue their own goals and interests. Foxes can, of course, work longer if they wish, and sometimes they have to during serious cases or trying times.
Due to having more time to themselves after, the Yasashii believe members should pay whole attention to their duties when they are working. The time for relaxing comes after!
The Yasashii are omnivores typically, enjoying a mix of vegetation and meat. The Yasashii cooks their food generally, using help from Daevas for fire and seasoning their food with herbs and spices the Cooks give out. Some foxes will choose to eat with their community, where a Cook will decide the meal and dish them out to anyone who arrives. Other foxes eat and cook with their family, or by themselves.
Daevas typically light the flames to cook meals, but some foxes have learned how to start fires, especially with current times pushing the skill in school.

As the tribe has grown and expanded they have found themselves enriching their traditions, adding new ceremonies over time to further bring the tribe together. Ceremonies are announced some time beforehand, varying from case-to-case but always announced by the Elder. Some ceremonies require the entire tribe while others are more intimate affairs. Regardless, ceremonies are a time where the tribe comes together, either in helping set up or enacting the actual event.
OCC Note: Owners may write into their character stories and history that these events occurred to their fox (for appropriate situations). A wedding does not need to always be RP'd in-thread, neither does a funeral, promotion, or coming of age ceremony. Every fox who was a kit in the tribe will have gone through their coming of age ceremony, regardless of RP. Additionally, the Apprentice role is not labeled on certs -- foxes will immediately receive their ranks on certs with the general understanding being they had their coming of age ceremony at the appropriate time.
Lifemating: Lifemating is a personal affair, done between foxes deeply in-love and ready to commit to one another. Dating is always encouraged beforehand, seen as the first step within someone's love journey. Lifemating comes when foxes wish to confirm their romantic selection, promising their intent to solidify their relationship permanently. Often, one fox will propose lifemating to the other, but some foxes choose to have a mutual conversation together. Usually, they will exchange gifts worn on their body to symbolize their promise. While most foxes in Yasashii are monogamous it is not the rule -- polyamory is allowed and accepted.
Marriage: Each marriage ceremony is different than the last, although all serve to solidify a lifemating into an eternal bond, turning a promise into actuality. Lifemated foxes will set a date to perform the ceremony, choosing if they want it open to the Yasashii public or marry privately. Some couples throw large parties, some exchange vows at home -- regardless of any decision made as to how the ceremony is done it still ends the same. Foxes marrying will stand before their Elder and exchange vows, often followed with jewelry to represent their marriage. The Elder will bless their union and later pray to Dahlia, informing her of their commitment. From then on foxes are considered married, blessed by the Elder and Dahlia for the rest of their time alive.
Divorce: Unfortunately, sometimes marriage isn't an option anymore. Partners can drift, deciding their relationship is better off null and voided. Yasashii believes in giving partners autonomy in their choices, with the official stance being it is neither shameful nor discouraged for couples to divorce if their relationship is over. The ceremony is quick and private, with the affected couple requesting the Elder to bless their departure. The Elder will do so, later praying to Dahlia as they had for the couples wedding day. Divorce is ideally meant to be done amicably, with all parties peacefully moving on from their relationship with the help of loved ones and friends.
Birthdays: The day a fox officially starts another year of life is considered a joyous one, treated as a celebration for making it through another year. Birthdays are usually intimate, involving only direct family and friends. Celebrations are decided by the birthday-fox or their family, depending on age, with some choosing elaborate events and others simply enjoying their favorite food at home. At the end of their night the birthday-fox will pray, considering the things they've done well and the things they wish to improve during their next year of life.
Coming of Age: Kits about to step over into the age of adulthood are brought together and before the tribe, each kit publicly congratulated for growing up and given their Mentor. The rest of the tribe will cheer the child on, wishing them the best of luck before repeating the process for each child within the ceremony. Children will be treated to a feast at nighttime, with their favorite foods presented to them to celebrate their growth. From then on kits will train under their Mentor until they're ready to take on their rank.
Promotion: An intimate ceremony that is usually quick and easy. Foxes ready to obtain their rank, receive a higher rank, or (rarely) change ranks will be summoned to the Elder. Apprentices will go with their Mentor and receive their final approval from the Elder, who will then bless their future within their new rank. Those ascending to a higher rank or changing ranks will have the same process, without a Mentor.
Banishment: A rare ceremony the tribe tries not to think about, these events spell the end of one's membership within the tribe due to a severe crime. Foxes are given one final chance to say goodbye to everyone before they are blindfolded and taken somewhere far from the tribe, often taking days to do so. They will be released, never permitted to return to the tribe lands again.
Night of Silence: Death is an unavoidable fact of life -- everyone dies. Foxes can choose to be buried or cremated. Regardless of which option is chosen foxes close to the deceased will gather and reminisce about their loved one. At night those foxes will not speak, choosing to reflect on their departed friend/family until the sunrises. To some, it is believed speaking interrupts the process of the soul moving into reincarnation.
Heir Banquet: When it comes time to announce a new Beta a banquet will be thrown with all foxes attending. Great efforts will go into cooking, decorating, feasting, and various forms of entertainment. The night peaks when the chosen fox will be announced, dancing for their tribe and sitting at the end of the meal. They will immediately begin Beta duties and are labeled the heir to the Elder throne.

There are a few holidays Yasashii celebrate and witness as a tribe. While each family and fox may have their own personal holidays and beliefs to add, tribe-shared holidays are held with great respect and preservation. Yasashii serves as a hospital, making it harder for the entire tribe to take off at the same time. Foxes currently caring for someone injured or sick will skip celebrations at times or partake the next day once someone takes their shift.
OCC Note: Owners may write into their character stories and history that these events occurred to their fox (for appropriate situations). Some holidays may even have tribe-specific threads, games, or events thrown! Some may not even be mentioned in-story. Regardless, these holidays are assumed to have occurred and can be referenced freely.
December 21st, Winter Solstice: Foxes gather during the shortest day of the year to light bonfires, celebrate the arrival of winter, and share stories. Seen as a day of relaxation, work that is not absolutely necessary is put to the side for the next day. December 25th, Christmas: In the morning children are sent to play while adults prepare for a large feast. Throughout the day foxes exchange gifts with their loved ones, sometimes even wrapping presents with leaves. At night the feast is enjoyed by the tribe as a group, with the Elder presenting a gift to each member at the end. Foxes often pray to Dahlia, wishing good fortune on their loved ones. December 31st, New Year's Eve: Foxes make goals and aspirations for the upcoming year, sharing their resolutions with friends and family. Adults gather to watch the sunrise the next day, blessing the year to come and praying to Dahlia for a healthy future. January 5th, Day of Reflection: Prayers are offered to Dahlia, focusing on the reflection of the previous year and what they've learned from it. The day is a quiet one, built around the internal conversation with oneself about who they are, who they want to be, and what they can do to better themselves throughout the next few months. February 2nd, The Great Hare Debate: Two hares are captured and labeled as Winter and Spring. Foxes gather and predict which will win, often betting sweets. The hares are released at the end of a cave, with the winner being the hare who exits the cave first. If Winter wins then it's believed winter will persist for another six weeks, while if Spring wins then spring will arrive early. February 14th, Valentines Day: The perfect day for romance! Foxes who have yet to confess to their crushes will often do so, providing presents with their confession. Couples will treat one another and, once work is done, go out on dates. The Elder offers and provides blessings to couples who wish for one, which are called: Everlasting Love, Healthy Communication, and Joined Health. February 15th, Courting Day: Singles are not forgotten. Those who wish for love but have yet to meet someone can sign up for the Singles Banquet, run by a selected fox of the tribe. The fox running the event will bring the foxes together and pair them off based on their belief in who will work well together. While not everyone takes the day seriously and many don't fret if they don't mesh with their assigned partner, some families value this day for their single family-members, adding pressure to connect with the fox partnered to them for the day. It is up to the foxes to continue courting or not once the day ends. February 21st, Family Day: A day to spend with your family, foxes pray to Dahlia for a healthy family and meet at night to eat dinner. March 10th, Betterment: Dedicated to the bettering of one's life, foxes pray and reflect on their habits, isolating the bad ones and promising to work on dropping them.
March 20th, Spring Equinox: Marking the beginning of spring, the holiday focuses on new beginnings! Foxes clean out their dens, toss out the things they don't need, and apologize for any wrongs they've yet to address. April 1st, April Fools: Geared towards children, foxes are encouraged to embrace their inner child! Small and harmless pranks are often played and foxes take the day off (for those not in need of their service) to enjoy the sun. April 5th, The Egg Hunt: The night prior a team is assigned to hide decorated eggs. Foxes find the eggs throughout the day, turning them in for sweets prepared by the Beta. May 1st, May Day: A day to celebrate life, vitality, and growth, foxes dance, sing, and perform together! It isn't uncommon to see foxes dressed in flower-crowns or dancing around trees! Foxes give thanks to Dahlia for her commitment to the safety of the tribe. May 20th, 24-Hour Prayer: Throughout the day foxes remain aware of their faith and Deity, reflecting continually on their growth, tribe, and family. Shrines are cleaned and redecorated. June 1st, Parents Day: Foxes say thanks to their parents, often cooking meals for them and providing them with presents. Those who do not wish to celebrate the holiday often turn to provide presents and care to the Elder.
June 20th, Summer Solstice: The beginning of summer and the longest day of the year. Members of the tribe often retouch their tribe-tattoo and reflect on all that nature has provided them, thanking Dahlia and Mother Nature. July 15th, Elder's Appreciation: Throughout the day foxes will send their appreciation to the Elder for caring for the tribe, often offering gifts and small meals. August 10th, Day of the Great Rest: Members of the tribe work hard, giving their best to the well-being of the injured and sick every day. Foxes take this day to rest. A small few are left to care for any patients in need, however, they often take the next day off, having foxes who partook in the holiday take their shifts. September 20th, Children's Day: Much like parents day, but reversed. Parents cook dinner for their adult children and provide gifts. Kits are allowed to stay up longer and take the day off from school, making it a popularly loved holiday by children.
September 22nd, Fall Equinox: The beginning of fall! Foxes pay tribute to the upcoming darker months, harvest nearby plants, and celebrating the day with a vegetarian dinner. September 30th, Ancestor's Day: Families come together to discuss their family line, reminiscing stories and passing on new ones for any recently deceased. Shrines are cleaned. October 31st, Halloween: It's believed the dead return and walk among the earth during the night of Halloween! Foxes decorate their bodies to cover their form and mingle with the dead, believing spirits will be unable to tell the difference and thus reveal themselves. Kits are supervised as they trick-or-treat throughout the tribe. September 2nd, Day of the Dead: Foxes gather to remember their deceased, providing small offerings to shrines and graves in the belief the spirits will receive the gift in the afterlife. November 25th, Thanksgiving: After duties are done for the day tribe-members gather and prepare a feast, collectively. Once done, the entire tribe feasts as a group and shares what they're thankful for. At night, the Elder makes their rounds, thanking each tribe-member for their hard work.

The history of Yasashii is always developing, changing day by day based on actions taken by the members of the tribe itself. It's the job of the Elder to retain Yasashii's history and pass it on to their tribe-members in a way they deem fit. Regardless, any who join Yasashii will have access to the stories of Yasashii. Anything written below, unless otherwise noted, is accessible to any fox within the tribe.
Yasashii is an old tribe, having survived many years and generations. In the beginning -- before Yasashii's creation -- there was a fox named Kea, born into a large and kind family. Known to serve their community with their knowledge in medical care, the family was well-liked and respected. Kea, like any ordinary fox, loved her family and excelled in her family's talent. She was never any different from those within her family except for her desire to leave.
Kea wasn't content just helping anyone who happened across her family in a time of need. She wanted to provide a permanent location known by all, exclusively created to heal and nurture those who needed help. It wasn't enough to occasionally assist someone within her community -- she lived to help others.
So, after a kiss on the cheek and a firm hug, she left home. Kea wandered, traveling long and far in pursuit of finding the perfect location. At times she bumped into others with similar intentions, allowing them to tag along in her journey. Eventually, after many tiring days of endless walking, the group discovered a gentle mountain overlooking a beach; perfect to call home. Kea and the travelers set up to stay the night before discussing in the morning their plans.
Kea did not get a full night's sleep -- no, she was woken to the sound of a faint and desperate voice, greeting Kea and requesting she come to the beach. 'Quickly,' the voice pleaded, and Kea was not one to deny such an urgent request. She left the side of her sleeping friends, traveling to the beach and discovering a small fox, lit with a faint glow. She revealed herself to be a Deity named Dahlia, encased in the form of a Modifox, preferring to meet Modifoxes in a familiar form they understood.
The conversation the two exchanged has been lost in time, perhaps purposefully. Rumors claim that Kea had often felt shame for how they first spoke to the great Deity, cheeks flushed as she recounted how star-struck she had been. The conversation is not as important as the result: Dahlia bore her blessing upon Kea and requested she accept the lands as her own, birthing a tribe of healers. Kea, of course, accepted, returning to her friends in the morning and announcing her intentions.
No one protested her plans or her selection as their Elder.
And thus Yasashii was born, carrying on for generations. Kea, a once young and sprightly thing, aged into a wise and old fox, carrying a limp in her step as the days wore her bones down. The tribe had grown in size substantially from the first ten foxes, lingering after her word and guidance eagerly. Kea knew her time was coming to an end soon, drawing her eyes to the tribe in search of an heir. She did not find a member she believed to fit the role as their future Elder.
Kea's time would soon be over and the tribe anxiously awaited to hear her selection. She kept silent, searching for the one fox she felt would inherit her tribe as instinctually as she had. She had no children of her own, nor had she ever taken a mate. As the days continued it seemed evident that either the tribe would disband when Kea passed or they'd have to quickly select someone themselves. Frustrations piled, but Kea kept silent.
Then, Kithara came.
A young fox stumbled upon the tribe lands; starved and weak. Named Kithara, she spoke of a faint voice who had led her to the lands when she was on death's door. Yasashii tended to her, and in return, Kithara joined their ranks, proving herself a capable and clever healer. Kea trained Kithara under her, teaching the young fox what she had yet to learn. Kithara led those around her in times of medical crisis and turbulence, clearing a path when there was none.
Kea surprised her tribe with the announcement that Kithara would take her place. Many struggled to accept the ruling at first, confused as to why someone so new to the tribe would be the chosen heir. Any concerns raised would slowly be settled as the tribe witnessed Kithara rise to the challenge, lovingly tending to her tribe's needs and worries while excelling at her job.
Kea passed a year later and no one protested as Kithara ascended into their Elder.
Kithara rose to Elder status gracefully, tidying aspects of the tribe she felt could be streamlined and tending to the needs of her members. She worked hard and diligently, often lost in her duties and forgetting her life outside of them. All the work in the world didn't prevent the tribe from the rapid decline that followed mere months after her ascension.
Many of the elderly passed in the following winter and spring came with no new kits. The tribe thinned, stagnating into a slow and faint rhythm. Without growth, the tribe began to dwindle as the older generations perished and the youth were left to take on their work, stretching thin. Kithara took on more work onto her shoulders, straining herself as the year went on. Like the previous Elder, many of the older members hadn't taken mates or had children, focused entirely on their duties and serving the ill. As they passed the tribe was left without many paws to carry on the tribe's way, igniting the fear of disbanding. Silence overcame the tribe, saturating the remaining foxes with fear.
And then, like a bright light in the fog, a miracle happened: Boniface and Embry had the first litter under Kithara's care. Six beautiful and strong babies to carry on the Yasashii way. Following them came many more breedings to come, exploding across the tribe as new members joined and settled down with those within the tribe.
As the years continued and generations furthered the tribe accumulated and grew their own culture. Festivals were created, religion was developed, education was strengthened, and the tribe became its own society. Growing faster than any had seen it do before, Yasashii blossomed under Kithara's care and direction, even gaining new allies in the form of other tribes.
Kithara focused on developing the tribe further, intent on ensuring she helped it grow as much as possible before she would be unable to serve it any longer. Yasashii was fairly well known for their services, bringing more injured foxes to their doorstep. Functioning as the hospital Kea had hoped for, it was now Kithara's goal to expand their reach. Help more of their kind.
The mountain, while gentle and fairly easy to climb, was not the most accessible to the injured and old. After consulting Dahlia she made a decision -- it was time to move homes.
Kithara sent countless Scouts out over the next few months, searching for a large and habitable territory for the ever-growing tribe. After two years she finally found the perfect location: a beautiful cherry blossom forest without a soul in sight.
The tribe moved, leaving behind a small group of foxes who would remain for a few months in the old territory to collect any stragglers and redirect them to the new lands. The migration took half a year, consisting of frequent pauses to tend to injured foxes they stumbled upon or care for new litters born during travel. Finally, they found their home, embracing the massive and spiraling cherry blossom forest.
Foxes have begun to settle in, having far more room to claim pockets of land for their families and belongings. The tribe has accepted new patients now that they've stored their medicine safely within nearby underground caves. To celebrate their new home the first Heir Banquet has been announced, leaving the foxes buzzing about who their future Beta will be.
Life is peaceful within Yasashii currently.

Click for full size! The Yasashii territory is a large island, surrounded by several terrains. For the most part the tribe remains within the pink-speckled forest, which is more than big enough for all members. Rarely, members are sent outside of the tribe home, usually to harvest rare materials not found within their territory or to aid others.
The forest itself is large and home to a vast collection of forest-dwelling animals. The main aesthetic appeal is the pink trees scattering throughout the island, concentrated more towards the center. The trees die in winter and late fall, returning with a vengeance in spring and summer.
OCC Note: While several locations are discussed and mapped out, players are allowed to come up with generic locations within and around Yasashii! Yasashii territory is generally welcome to outsiders, with four points stationed to even assist foxes in and out of the land. Sakura Pool, the Sick Dens, and the various bird-shaped island (with remains officially unnamed by often called Bird Island by members) by the South Watchpoint are restricted to outsiders due to vulnerability concerns.
Members are permitted to live anywhere they wish, aside from the Watchpoints, Sakura Pool, and the Sick Den. Home Camp is where most foxes choose to remain and all meetings are held, but families can take residence anywhere within the island. Foxes can easily be reached by Phim/Daeva members, as well as the usage of hares, which Yasashii has begun training once settling within their territory.
North Watchpoint: The Watchpoint that sees the most action; it's stationed right against a series of closely tethered island, which many foxes use to get in and out of Yasashii. Captain: N/A atm Sick Dens: Dens set near a freshwater pond, where sick foxes are located. There are plenty of dens nestled within large and fallen trees, caves, and dug holes. Outsiders are kept at bay in efforts to protect the ill. West Watchpoint: While less used than the North Watchpoint, it still sees plenty of foxes exiting and entering. Foxes are stopped here to inspect, as the Swamplands have notoriously brought plagued foxes to their lands. Ill foxes are taken to the Sick Dens for care. Captain: N/A atm Home Camp: A large camp, protected by large trees. Tribe meetings are held here and kits often raised within to ensure maximum protection. Many foxes choose to live within the Home Camp themselves. South Watchpoint: Little action is seen here, as the distance from land to water is fairly great. The South Watchpoint doubles as watchful eyes on the bird-shaped island beside it, where Yasashii stores medicines and valuables within labyrinth caves. Most Guards here are of the flying sort, making it easier to collect materials from bird-island and help stragglers. Captain: N/A atm East Watchpoint: Doubling as protection also for the Sakura Pool, the East Watchpoint doesn't see as many foxes as say the North Watchpoint but they're still rather active, resulting in a larger number of Guards than the West Watchpoint. Captain: N/A atm Sakura Pool A small island with a large cave in the center, which is almost entirely covered by the pink trees surrounding it. The cave has a pool within, which is used for prayer and ceremony. Leading to the pool is large tunnels ending at their own large rooms, where the Elder, Beta, and their family remain when not on duty.
The surrounding areas are free lands to the Yasashii, where other tribes and rogues may stay. Scouts, Gatherers, and Guards are the most likely to roam these lands for various duties, however all Yasashii members are permitted to explore as long as they announce their intentions and whereabouts (and are often accompanied by another fox). Each area has different prey, predators, and supplies, unique with their own dangers. Watchpoints within Yasashii keep a keen eye on the land beyond, just in case their services are needed.
Tribe-owners who wish to claim the land around Yasashii may, and can DM/PM NymiiNym to discuss plot opportunities!
Swamplands: A dark and dreary swampland, riddled with disease and famine. Yasashii members without a reason for traversing the land will find the most resistance when requesting to explore there, only due to the dangers within. Poisonous plants, vicious mammals, and unfamiliar weather often are the downfall of Yasashii wanderers who are not prepared. Wild Plains: One of the most frequented locations outside of the tribe, the Wild Plains is full of large prey for the pack to reap the benefits from. There are a high number of rogues within this land, requiring a basic level of understanding in healing and combat for those wishing to explore. The Redwoods: A large redwood forest with a bounty of fauna and prey, it's the most popular place to explore. Predators are skittish within this lands, giving foxes more freedom to maneuver without worry. Combat is also fairly familiar, as the Redwoods is fairly similar to Yasashii territory and thus benefits foxes who use the same techniques from their homeland.

Ranks are a title given to a member stating their purpose within the tribe and often gives them special privileges and permissions. Responsibility finds all Yasashii members -- even those without a rank. Rankless foxes have a harder time receiving approval to leave Yasashii lands and lack several privileges ranked foxes have, making Yasashii members encourage their own to find the rank that suits them.
Every fox begins as an Apprentice and receives training for their desired future rank, whether they joined as a rogue or were born into the tribe.
Foxes can switch ranks once a year, as all members go through extensive training for their ranks and Teachers are not always readily available for an influx of foxes seeking to switch their purpose. The Elder has the ability to switch a foxes rank if they believe the fox desperately cannot fulfill their current one, although those instances are rare (and never done OOC, it must be an IC action requested by the player to NymiiNym).
OCC Note: More ranks can be added as time goes on. Players with a fox without a rank can continue to play their fox as normal, but must understand that rankless foxes have a harder time exploring, gaining permission to host events/ceremonies, and influencing tribe-META.
Apprenticeship is non-optional for members, but is not required to be RP'd or discussed. Players will directly cert for their rank with the understanding that their fox has underwent the Apprentice system in their past. Players are welcomed to ask other players if their fox might have been their Mentor and to back-RP Apprenticeships. A few ranks have perks attached, affecting senses, litter numbers, and more. These ranks are noted here for ease, with their effects listed underneath. Any Head Rank is rewarded through Tribe Events and METAs, with some locked to foxes owned by the tribe owner. They cannot be requested until openings are announced.
OCC Note: Every rank here is officially recognized by the Modifox lore and have in-shop mechanics attached, which must be followed without question. Please read the effects underneath carefully and reference the official Ranks + Abilities guide.
Elder: The leader of the tribe. There is only ever 1 at a time, with no exceptions made. Every decision is ran before the Elder in some capacity, with the focus of their leadership being on ensuring the well-being and growth of their tribe. ➻ Pray directly to the Higher Beings and receive an answer. ➻ All rank-specific abilities.
Shaman: A medicine fox for the tribe. There can be an infinite number of Shamans, with 1 Head Shaman at a time. Shamans use medicine, small amounts of magic, and medical procedures to help heal and restore members of the tribe. Shamans are allowed access to the Sakura Pool, where they often pray to Dahlia in thanks for their abilities. The Head Shaman commands all other Shamans and directly reports to the Elder weekly to inform them of supplies they need, issues that have cropped up, and cases brought to the tribe. ➻ The ability to use small amounts of magic. Nothing extreme like commanding oceans or anything, but small commands over earth, air, water, and fire. Providing some sparks to start a fire, breathing underwater for a minute, causing a fruit to fall from a tree with a small gust of wind, etc. ➻ If a fox is injured, spending time with Shamans means that their wounds can be treated faster and leave minimal scarring.
Hunter: The one who brings fresh kill to the tribe and helps Gatherers in collecting other food. While there can be any number of Hunters at a time, there is only 1 Head Hunter, who directly reports to the Elder weekly. The Head Hunter is responsible for knowing the best hunting locations, sending their hunting parties to locations where prey have become bountiful, preventing the Hunters from over-killing a population, and ensuring everyone is safe. ➻ Heightened natural abilities - hearing, sight, agility, dexterity, etc. They can move quicker, and sense other foxes and creatures quicker and more accurately than others.
Gatherer: Collectors of food, herbs, plants, materials, and more. If something is needed then a Gatherer is on the job! Gatherers work closely with Hunters, often carrying home their kills so Hunters can focus on their job. While there can be an infinite number of Gatherers, there can be only 1 Head Gatherer. The Head Gatherer reports weekly to the Elder and makes rounds within the tribe, collecting a list of needed materials for their crew to collect. ➻ The ability to use ultrasonic-like pulses, to check surrounding areas for downed prey (not live animals, just kills), herbs, and any other materials. They can't locate specific things, but their ability helps give them a general idea of what items may be in the area around them.
Scout: A fox who carries out messages, gathers intelligence for the tribe, and recruits. These foxes are often not on tribe lands, given permission to explore freely as long as their Heads know where they are. With the introduction of Hare Tamers, they have mostly focused on collecting information, recruiting, and delivering messages out of the tribe. There can be an infinite number of Scouts but only 2 Head Scouts at a time. One Head Scout will always be off tribe-lands, often with a party they've assembled, while the other remains within the tribe. The two will frequently switch off to ensure safety and proper rest. ➻ The ability to use telepathy, in order to send news faster. The telepathy is one way and they must be a few miles near the one receiving the message, unless they are talking to another Scout or an Elder.
Carer: Foxes who tend to the young and assist Shamans in their day-to-day duties. Kits rarely are out of sight of a local Carer, especially so during a wave of births. There can be an infinite number of Carers but only 1 Head Carer at a time. The Head Carer reports to the Elder and maintains a close eye on the collective young of the tribe. ➻ The ability to sense auras for a short moment and get a general idea of what another creature is like (good/bad/neutral/dangerous/etc.), and calm other foxes when they are in distress. They can also communicate telepathically with kits that are still in their BCR stage to understand their basic needs (needing warmth, for example), similar to how Scouts use telepathy, but at a much smaller level.
Rankless/Member: A fox lacking a rank, for whatever means. Foxes are greatly discouraged from selecting the Rankless route. They'll find it harder to leave Yasashii lands and are generally kept out of action. Foxes may switch out of this rank.
The tribe has ranks either unique to them or lacking a perk from the world of Modifox itself. While just as official as the above ranks, these perkless ranks are not recognized by the Deities. Any Head/Captain Rank is rewarded through Tribe Events and METAs, with some locked to foxes owned by the tribe owner. They cannot be requested until openings are announced.
OCC Note: Every rank here is not officially recognized by the Modifox lore, but still play a part in Yasashii story/META.
Beta: The second-in-command, who still answers directly to the Elder. The Beta enforces all law and word from the Elder, helping keep the tribe moving smoothly. The Beta can speak for the Elder and are under direct observation from Advisers, who also council the Beta alongside the Elder.
Guardians: A role specifically for the draconic Guardians who have joined Yasashii. These creatures protect the tribe alongside Guards, focusing on the protection from the outside, should a foreign force try and harm the tribe.
Guards: The tribe values the safety of all who stay on Yasashii land. Guards protect the tribe and tribe-lands, although they prioritize the safety of their people more. Guards patrols tribe lands, attend adventures outside of the tribe, and generally protect all those associated to Yasashii. They also can be used to collect and gather those who break the tribe laws, but this is a rare and few occurrence.
The Four Watchpoints each have a small cluster of Guards, with a Captain claiming the watchpoint as home. The Four Captains frequently work together to ensure the borders remain safe, but also can be dispatched during times of strife, or to protect large groups of Yasashii members leaving the tribe-lands. There can be 4 Captains at one time, with each Guard working under the paw of one of the four. There can be an infinite number of Guards.
Makers: Foxes with extraordinary ability to create for the tribe. This includes foxes who can tattoo, create accessories, build for the tribe, and other useful tasks. It isn't unusual for Makers to also sell services to outsiders in return for useful medicines and materials the tribe needs.
Cooks: With the introduction of foxes who could manipulate fire it was discovered food could be cooked. Cooks help tend to the tribe dietary needs, while also making it taste good. Cooks serve food for the entire tribe three times a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), with some taking requests from families who wish to eat with their own kin privately. Food can also be collected and brought home to the family (for those who prefer a more intimate meal!). Cooks use herbs, spices, heat, and more to flavor their food.
Hare Tamer: Due to how massive the tribe lands are, Hare Tamers have begun to sprung up, taming hares to send messages within the tribe. While Scouts have no issue communicating with one another (and their Elder), normal foxes rely on Hare Tamers and their pet hares to send word out quickly and efficiently.
[Secondary] Advisers: Under the rule of Kithara, it was decided each Elder would have a handful of Advisers to ensure the Elder maintains the best interest of the tribe. Advisers are selected by the community directly. If a fox is recommended enough to the Elder to become an Adviser they may request permission for a vote, which is polled from all members within Yasashii. Advisers must always have the interest of the tribe in mind. Corrupt Advisers are banished quickly, often spotted by the Beta or other Advisers.
Advisers are a secondary rank, going on top of another rank. Foxes will focus on both duties. Adviser slots are limited and announced through META.
[Secondary] Teacher: Teachers are foxes who are trusted to educate kits and new-members in the Yasashii ways, as well as basic survival necessities. Kits receive basic education under Teachers, as well as standard survival skills. New-members will also receive similar education on surviving. Mentors train foxes under a specific rank, alleviating Teachers. Many Carers are also Teachers, but any rank can acquire the Teacher rank.
Teachers are a secondary rank, going on top of another rank. Foxes will focus on both duties. Teacher slots are unlimited.

Once a Teacher is done educating a kit of new-member on basic Yasashii things it is time for Mentors to step in. New foxes and kits are assigned their Mentor by the Elder, although rarely a Mentor will request special permission to train a specific fox of their choosing. A Mentor must have had their rank for quite some time and shown their loyalty to the tribe, as well as full comprehending of their rank.
Kits and new-members will train under their Mentor until they report to the Elder of their significant growth, which typically follows into a Promotion Ceremony. The Elder can deny the ascension of an Apprentice (those training under a Mentor), or even reassign a new Mentor to the Apprentice.
Every new fox, whether born into the tribe or recently discovering it, are given a Mentor before they officially hold a rank.
OCC Note: Mentorships do not need to be RP'd! Every new addition is assumed to have had a Mentor and gone through the process. The player can decide to RP this experience (including their Promotion Ceremony, just DM Nym!) or backplot it. Each player may select any fox who has a rank as their Mentor (with permission from the owner of said fox). This is purely for fun and plot, so don't feel pressured into RPing/pinpointing a Mentor!
When certing foxes do not indicate Apprentice/Mentor. These are RP-flavor ranks and do not go on the cert.

The Yasashii have updated their tattoo, which now resembles the sakura blossoms their home is swallowed by. The tattoo can be in any color, and can either be hollow or filled by another color. Placement doesn't matter, as long as it's visible. The pack values the tattoo as a commitment to the tribe and people, seeing the permanent method of branding as the ultimate bond.
Banished foxes often do not have their tattoo fussed with, as the rare nature of banishments often result in an abrupt departure. Foxes have to go out of their way to remove the symbol.
OCC Note: Foxes who cannot be tattooed due to lore reasons (body not taking tattoo ink, incorporeal form, etc) can seek alternate ways of receiving their mark in the form of jewelry or cloth. This is not available to foxes who physically can be tattooed.
Those with the old tattoo do not need to update their mod, but can (with the cost being covered by Nym). Talk to Nym directly (and indicate if you want their new mod + their old one, or completely remove the old one) and she'll add your fox to the list of "update ASAP".

Yasashii have several relations with other tribes and groups, which are noted below. Tribe/group owners may DM/PM Nym to discuss plots, change alignments, and host METAs/events! Yasashii is an active tribe looking for interaction with others. Some tribes allow the exchange of kits, which allow players to easily have a reason why a kit born in Yasashii may have gone to another "sister" tribe. The Luminarium: Due to Luminarium's focus on mental health, the two exchange patients and materials frequently. Kits also are sent to either tribe at times! If a kit feels like they rather would go into psychiatric care they may request Kithara set up an expedition to deliver the kit to Luminarium. Likewise, Luminarium also has the same offer for their kits, assisting them in arriving to Yasashii lands. Yasashii has promised assistance and loyalty in times of strife and distress. The Tribe: None!

Yasashii accepts all foxes with the belief in giving everyone one chance. This includes foxes of darker natures, who are greeted amicably if they join the tribe for just reasons. Color and edits do not matter, although the color red has seemed to dominate members lately.
Foxes can leave and join at any time. Kits are generally kept within the tribe, with a huge emphasis in the culture of the tribe on remaining within your own. This is exempt for tribes the Yasashii have been noted to trade kits within, although some families do take it hard when their young choose an allied tribe. A fox leaving the tribe entirely (without going to an "allied" tribe) is hard for the tribe to understand, generally. It's an uncommon thing for a fox to do!
Banishing is entirely a player-decided experience. The owner of the tribe can, theoretically, remove any fox from the tribe at any point, but will only do so if the fox does something so drastic that cannot be forgiven by the tribe as a whole (and must be discovered by the Elder). Players can privately DM/PM requests for banishing.
All forms should be DM'd or PM'd (Discord or Gaia PMs work fine, but Nym is always on Discord and will answer far faster). Please post immediately for your mod once approved, as Nym will immediately handle your mod request!
