It had been a long time since she'd given herself over to the Negaverse. Nearly two years, in fact, and two years that Marialite did not regret at all. She was so much happier, these days. Sure, there had been some bumps along the way--she wasn't proud of needing to be rescued from a Senshi she'd beaten before by a higher-up--but that didn't mean that things weren't progressing nicely.
So, she had to say, she wasn't at all nervous showing up at General-Queen Hessonite's office, in response to a summons to "check in." She knocked politely, and waited just a moment, before calling out.
"Lieutenant Marialite, ma'am, here to see you!"

The office of General Queen Hessonite was cluttered when compared to the offices of Axinite, who kept his like that of a sweet old grandmother, and Lepidolite’s, who kept his office as firm and detached as he tried to be. Military clean and devoid of any comforts.
Hessonite’s office was a mess of photographs and other trinkets that held even the smallest bit of meaning. The walls were filled with pictures of the places that she had been, and no less than half a dozen cameras hung from hooks, just waiting to be taken out on more adventures.
Proof of existence was everything, after all.
At the knock on the door, and the sound of Marialite’s voice, a grin spread across the General Queen’s face and she bounded out of her seat, moving to open the door with a grin. “Welcome! I’ve been waiting for you. Come on in and have a seat.”
She was planning on giving a promotion today, should everything go as well as she assumed it would. From what notes she had, Marialite was doing quite well for herself.

Hessonite's office wa,s for Marialite, immediately comforting. There was so much stuff that it was hard to feel anything but the firm sense that you'd wandered into someone's welcoming, sentiment-filled home. That, and Hessonite's open enthusiasm, helped make her feel safer and far, far less nervous.
"Thank you, ma'am," she said, and she stepped into the office, going to take a seat. "This is all...really nice. Are all of these pictures and things yours? It really makes the place feel full," she said, and she couldn't help but take it all in.
Yes, she'd known she liked Hessonite from the moment they first met.

The General Queen watched as the Lieutenant took a seat, seeming quite satisfied. “Now. I’m glad you think it’s nice. They are all mine, yes. Memories are important to have, you know. It’s important to know that you belong somewhere, even if you can’t remember your original foundation. I work very hard to make sure that my new foundation is strong enough and full enough that I will never find any reasons to waiver in it.”
Moving to her desk, Hessonite took a seat on the edge of it, looking up happily for a moment at the cameras and lifting one down from the wall, skimming her fingers over the smooth, cool surface.
“Tell me, how have things been? Are you enjoying your role with us? I’ve only heard good things about you, and I have been watching you rather closely.” As she did with all of the ones that she brought in.
“Another thing I want you to tell me, what does the word responsibility mean to you, Marialite? What would having someone report to you mean to you?”

Marialite nodded, and she let her eyes drift, again, voer everything on the walls. "It's not exactly the same, but I've found that having Cale and Gala to lean on has helped me feel like I have a sure, shored-up foundation, myself," she said. It was true; the more time she spent with them,. the more certain she was of her place in the Negaverse.
She crossed one leg over the other, glad for the looseness of her skirt, and folded her hands in her lap. "I've liked it very much, so far. I feel like I have a real purpose, like I'm really doing something. And it's...fun, in its way. I like getting to fight people on the other side." Maybe that wasn't the best thing to say, but it was true.
The other question, though, she gave a long moment's thought to. "As for having someone report to me...it would be an honor. I would feel very lucky to get to guide Lieutenants the way I've been guided. That kind of responsibility would mean a great deal to me, since it would be my job to make sure that they stay within the lines and work to further the Negaverse's ambitions."

“Very good, Marialite. I enjoy your answers. You seem to have truly settled in nicely, and it’s time that you’re rewarded for the growth that I see in you.”
Hessonite took a moment to watch the lieutenant again, her expression warm, and just a little appraising, though she obviously liked what she saw, for she stood and made her way over. “Sit up, please. You know that with more power, there will be pain, just like when you were brought over. Unfortunately that isn’t something that I can regulate, but I know that you are more than capable of handling it.”
That was the only warning that the General Queen gave before her hand slid into Marialite’s chest with practiced ease, fingers softly gripping the starseed inside, almost caressing it for a moment before she began to fill it with more Chaos, changing it, strengthening it, even as she changed and strengthened the girl who sat before her.
When the process was done, she gently withdrew her hand and nodded, looking over the newly minted Captain with a satisfied expression. “Beautiful. Well then, Captain Marialite, I do hope that you’ll continue to do your best. I am proud of you.”

Marialite gasped, and sat straight up, eyes going wide with excitement and delight.
"Thank you so much, ma'am," she said, as the hand slid into her chest.
Even with the hot pain of more Chaos shooting through her, she grit her teeth and endured. Because It would be worth it in the end; she knew that. She hardly had to think to know that she wanted this, and that it was, in fact, everytihng she had ever wanted.
In her tightly clenched fists, she felt hilts form, and her uniform felt both lighter and fuller, and when she opened her eyes, she was made stronger.
She stood out of her chair, after a moment to catch her breath, and stepped away to get enoguh space to spin around and watch her new skirts twirl.
"This is...amazing. I promise, General-Queen, I won't disappoint you!"

Hessonite pulled back when she felt the change, when she saw Marialite’s outfit grow sleeker, more ornate. More reflective of the Captain that she now was. Ruby eyes moved up and down her frame and she nodded. “I know, Marialite. I doubt that you could ever let me down. You look splendid, my dear. Now. I hope that you go find yourself a few ducklings to protect, won’t you? Show me how well you lead, and there will be another promotion for you down the line.”
Now was her time to really shine. If she sparkled, if she obtained more people for the Negaverse, kept up with her quota, brought in starseeds...well. Hessonite could see her becoming a General in a few months. If not.
With time she might just become disappointed.
“Come closer, Captain.”
And picking up her tablet, she took a selfie of the two of them, messaging it to Marialite and looking quite satisfied. “A new memory for your new power. Use it well.”

Marialite put a hand to her chest, where Hessonite's had just been, and she couldn't stop smiling.
"Of course. I'd be glad to take on some ducklings, and guide them into being proper members of the Negaverse." She grinned, proudly. She already had projects--mostly Dinara--but she could find a way to make more for herself. Perhaps she could pick up a wayward Lieutenant or two; surely there were a few of those running around.
At the request to come closer, she moved over immediately, and she was still grinning like a fool when Hessonite took the selfie.
"Thank you, ma'am," she said, pulling out her tablet and opening the selfie. "I'll treasure it." The power, and the picture.
