Variel 1
Variel climbed to the top of the tree hoping to get as close as she could to the stars and also where no one would disturb her. She was determined to have a peaceful night watching the magical streaks blazing across the sky. She wondered what this would be an omen of. She was sure that her father would say it was a sign of salty crops that year or a locust plague or aberrant weather. Her Dad was full of reasons for the phenomenoms of nature.
She rather thought that it was the gods playing some sort of fun game out there in the stars and these were the balls that didnt make it where they were supposed to go. Dad's explanations were too dire on a good day.

Taliessin 1
Taliessin was excited that she had the opportunity to travel to Oba for the Celestial Shower. The buildings were so much higher than in Matori, and the sky so much clearer without the humidity and risk of rain. Sure, it was a little hot, but pulling back her hair meant she could be cool and see things clearly.
Many of the locals were on top of buildings, but with the Red being a little smaller, Tali figured she could sneak out to the trees lining the oasis to get a good view. Plus, she could dip her toes into the water and maybe see the reflection against it.
As she moved into the clearing, she ignored the many couples and families cuddling up to watch the show, instead pulling up her pants slightly and wading into the shallows before looking up.

Variel watched the streaks light up the sky and noticing that she was not quite as alone as she had thought she crawled back down the tree to go greet the new girl.
"Isn't this amazing?" She didn't disguise her glee at the beautiful natural phenomenon. "Personally I think its good luck. What do you think they mean?" she asked, curious.
Surely something so beautiful would be a good thing and not some crazy disaster omen. This girl had the dark shifter coloration even at night. Variel felt that they could play hide and go seek like masters.

Taliessin 2
The cool waters brushed against Taliessin's ankles, a gentle reprive from the heat of the Oban desert. She missed the waters of Matori, and this was secretly one of her favorite places to visit on her trips.
As the sound of someone approaching her cut off her appreciation of the skies and the waters, Taliessin smiled brightly at the oban girl.
"I've heard all sorts of meanings for these types of things. Blessings from the gods, tears of sadness, even a chance to become a powerful mage."
Brushing her long hair away from her face, she felt her pants dip into the waters. Oh well.
"Personally, I think it's just nature's way of putting on a pretty show."

Variel smiled back warmly. "My name is Variel, so nice to meet someone else with a positive outlook."
Gosh this was fun, had she been such a hermit with her Father to miss the sound of someone else's voice with new ideas. She hadn't thought so, perhaps it was just because she got really good vibes off this strange looking girl.
"Although being a powerful mage might be cool, I doubt magic likes me enough to try." She had always preferred more physical weapons anyway she felt like she wouldn't be able to get whatever spell out in time to do any damage whatsoever.
Neither of her parents were particularly magically inclined either. Perhaps it was hereditary.
"I love visiting Matori. Its so pretty here always. Oba is pretty crispy, thought the food is excellent.'

"Taliessin, but people call me Tali." She provided her name in reply, smiling before turning back to look at the falling stars once more. They reflected splendidly off of the waters, creating a sort of dizzing effect. Oh yes, this was the best place she could have viewed things.
The hybrid hummed out loud in response. Oh, Matori? Her outfit was a bit obvious, all things considered.
"I'm just visiting a family friend here, but Matori is where I'm from...I prefer the water...even with the heat, it's a nice break"

"I have spent enough time in Matori that I agree with you wholeheartedly. You can't beat it. I love it there."
It was always more fun to travel and try new places than it would be to stay forever stuck in one place. Some people never left their Oban cities and she couldn't imagine how dreadfully boring that would be.
"Is it too late to change my address?" She teased. Her Dad was itchy to go back to Oba and spend time with the rest of the family. She missed her Mother and Sister but her friends were here.

Taliessin let her feet brush against the smooth tile of the water, amazed at how the Obans created a more man-made experience for the wading pool.
"From what I know, many people enjoy setting up a small home on the beaches of Matori...we see a lot of them traveling through the border lands..."
Unlike in Oba where people built up, Matori was a bit more of a small-town scene and pace.

"Maybe when I have my craft and am old enough I will try to make a living out that way for a while. I have good friends there that I am sure would not object to me moving closer. Lynx and Iexa always missed her when she went back home, and she missed them too, they were like the Brother's she had never had.
"Maybe that is what this meteor shower is blessing for me, maybe my trip and plans will be successful." She could hope anyway. Short of hurricane she would give it a go.
Variel waded out until she could stroke the water with her hands playing with it. She was so glad they had these pools too.
She bowed her head and made her wish for future success as the meteor's whizzed by above.

"That makes a lot of sense..." Turning back again, Tali thought for a long moment before whispering, "They say a falling star grants a wish..."
Looking back at Variel, she realized that the Oban girl was already making a wish. Smiling, she turned back to face the sky and bowed her head too...wishing for her family to always be happy and healthy as they continued to grow and find their own way.

She opened her eyes with an uncharicteristic lack of concern, worry or care. She just felt free, buoyed by the thought of a new beach get away just for her. Something to look forward to, a goal, and again a wish. Extra powerful manifestation, she thought.
"Its just so beautiful," the sky all but shone with falling stars. "Like its from another world, you know, like some of the flowers I've seen. A natural wonder."
She couldn't figure out exactly what fascinated her so much about it but she was really excited about it.

Taliessin was quiet, agreeing as she looked up to the sky as the stars seemed to speed up. They fell like dancers, twinkling in waves like dust and magic. Looking down at the water's reflection, she couldn't help but smile once more. It was such a monumental experience, and humbling at the same time.
Really, she was just content. Content with everything.

She was happy she was here for this moment. It was nice to spend some time with someone new. She should try to make more friends.
"I hope your wish comes true." She told Tali cheerfully. She looked up again, simply marveling in the moment, hoping it would stretch for a long time still.
What new things would tomorrow bring? The eternal question. She hoped her Father got to see this too, wherever he was at this moment and her Mother and Sisters.
This was worth staying up so late.

"Yours as well...." The hybrid replied softly, the stars reflecting in her eyes as she looked out and let the silence linger. It was nice meeting a new friend under such a beautiful location, but Tali was ready to just settle in the silence and enjoy the atmosphere while it lasted.
