Kiyelt 1
Kiyelt yawned but ushered his kids outside. He had a slightly different ritual here than he had when he was growing up but he felt that the gods would hear them anyway. The girls would likely be doing their own things. This was his chance to get some boy time. He had two sons and he could think of nothing more fascinating than knowing what they wished for in the new year. He would never get tired of looking in their faces. He could see both himself and Nin in them and they meant the world to him.
"Come along lads, yes get the incense, and the feather, Thalla, the fish, bring that too. Ushi can you go to the garden and pluck a few of those moon flowers I showed you, yes as many as are blooming right now for this." He handed his smaller son a basket so he could more conveniently carry the blooms.

Thal 1
Thallassa bustled about the kichen, gathering snacks and the aforementioned fish that they needed as a sacrifice. His parents had their own rituals, mostly encouraged by his father who was well traveled. His Mother had made recommendations and hybridized her own beliefs with his. th eresult was something more meaningful than the original practices were and Thal was delighted to be a part of it. From what he had hear Matori had not always been so liberal.

Ushiwa 1
Ushi grasped the basket and rushed out to the back garden where upon the wind greeted him by ruffling his hair. Taking a deep breath he inhaled the salt infused air, his nose only slightly wrinkling at the hit of fishy smell.
He bounced over to the stand of moonflowers, just opened for the evening. they were large and beautiful white flowers that grew on sprawling vines accented by spotted heart shaped leaves. Their family regularly got complimented by passers by. In answer his mother always shared seeds with those who chatted. He gathered all the flowers that were at the peak of beauty. Once his basket was full he went back to his Father.

Kiyelt 2
His youngest son arrived first and Kiyelt hefted the boy, basket and all, into his arms. He made a big show of inspecting the harvest.
"Well, well, it seems that you have the same eye for beauty that your Mother has. Well done my son, these will do nicely."
He ruffled his hair, which looked and awful lot like Thallassa's. He suspected a special request had been made on haircut day. That always made him smile, how the younger kids tended to idolize the older.

Thallassa 2
He went outside to join his father and brother. The cool wind caressed his face. He hated to admit it (teenager that he was) but Thallassa was actually really excied for this. Boys night!
Spiritual boys night, so added manly intrigue. What crumpets of advice might they recieve this night. Once Dad got to talking, he just went. Something Thal thought people didn't expect from his Father upon first meeting him. Thall rather though ti was all the fur and fangs. He smiled to himself, his Dad was awesome.

Ushiwa 2
Ushi beamed from his perch in Daddies arms. He was with two of his favorite people. He wasn't quite sure, what exactly was going on. But he was happy to be going along. Previously he and his sister had been to small for stuff like this. He was happy that he was finally growing up. He was going to be as tall as Dad some day.
He was alsoo excited because he was convinced he was going to see some magic tonight.
Some fishy magic.

"All right, lets be then!" They made speedy progress to the sacred beach which Kiyelt liked to use for such important rituals.
He quickly prepared the float with flowers and with the boys hands and his, they sent it out to gently bob on the waves, a lone candle flickers in the mild wind as the round float sailed slowly out to sea. They all watched it for a long time.
While the bowl was going out it was time meant for them to pray for the new year.
Kiyelt prayed for continued peace.

Thallassa 3
Thallassa prayed for bountiful, explorable coastlines through which he could help forage to feed his family.
He also looked forward to seeing the growth of his siblings in the new year. They couldn't stay young forever after all.
He prayed for the continued health of his family and for prosperity.
He looked up. After prayer they awaited the rising of the moon over the horizon. He was about to yawn loudly by accident when he caught a glimpse of the silver on the horizon. Almost time.

Ushiwa prayed for his family to be safe and happy and for his belly to always be full.
He was very young yet and the night seemed to be quite magical and beautiful to him. It was so very seldom just the three boys. There was usually a sister around somewhere and an omnipresent mother.
Ushi loved the attention though just like he loved his twin. He had to admit he did kind of miss her.
But this was a boys thing and he would not break that rule.

The moon crested the horizon and he and his kids reverently placed more flowers into a bowl of water.
He added a dash of special perfume, used only on spiritual occasions. It was home made from a rare flower that grew in Zena and its heavenly scent was said to bestir the spirits in man and wild alike.
There was a separate vial for each of them, the individual scents were hand crafted by him to represent the person it was meant for. His own small vial smelled of citrus and pine with a hint of jasmine.

Eagerly Thal uncorked his own bottle and was immediately enveloped in the scent of sea, wind and plumeria. It was spectacular and he grinned at his Father to have pinned him so acurately.
He took an exploratory sniff of his Dad's perfume vial and caught the hint of citrus. Yup that was Dad sunny yet acidic, brilliant yet a total clutz.
He grinned harder. He wondered what concoction his brother had gotten.

Ushiwa sniffed his own perfume before adding it to the bowl after the other two.
His unique perfume had Rose, coconut, lime and a hint of juniper. He felt it made him seem steady and cheerful. He liked it and clapped quietly in delight. He loved perfume and smelling good.
This was such a cool adventure. He was so happy he had been old enough to go finally. This was male bonding at its finest.

Once all the perfume was added to the bowl, Kiyelt took a dark wood baton and stirred it three times clockwise before placing the bowl between the three of them. The scents of the three present wove and intermingled, something that would be the same or different depending on the number and composition of people that were there.
Kiyelt personally adored this ritual. It was a buffet for the senses.
He turned and nodded at Thallassa. It was his turn.

Thallassa brought out the secially salted and wrapped fish packs that his father had instructed him to make three days hence. Even the preparation of the fish took time and each wrapped bundle was affixed with a little pendent that the cords attached to. The pendant was in the clan colors and specific arrangement with that member a unique identifier given to each of the children at birth.
Thallassa handed the bundles out and kept his own. the three of them lined up facing south and laid down their bundles from a kneeling position.
Then they prayed again.

Then it was Ushiwa's turn, he got up and placed thick and tall candles all about them.
One by one he lit them while his Father and Older brother chanted an ancient hunters right, asking for success in hunting and fishing in the new year as it was traditional for the men to ask for.
The woman's version of the ritual according to his father had very similar componants but involved prayers related to safe childbirth, good husbands and successful foraging and fishing.
Everybody tended to fish in his family. They all enjoyed it.
