Another year has passed in Tendaji, meaning a new opportunity for the residents to accomplish their goals and dreams. Typically, this is a time for setting promises to oneself and others on what to do in the year ahead. There are many different superstitions on how to make a New Year's Wish: some toss their written wishes into the sea, others will burn them at a shrine, and even more will whisper them to representatives of the gods.
No matter how one goes about doing it, all will take the time to ensure that their wishes and promises have the best chance to come true in the New Year.
[ What is your character's promise for the New Year? Go about their practice of setting their goals and dreams in the way they feel is most important. Maybe they go to the shrines, or wish under a star, or honor the god(s) they follow. The goal of this World Event is to make a wish for the next year however your character chooses fit. ]
-----------------------------
As another year passed by Adenah found herself involved in more 'straight laced' work to get by. While she was by no means trying to follow a more traditional career path she was trying to become more involved with her family. Over the years she'd sort of...rebelled, in a way, by moving back to Oba and distancing herself from everyone in Jauhar. The move in itself had brought a new level of tension to her family and things hadn't been good for a long time. Now she was trying to fix things.
So, she'd taken on smaller roles for the family forge. Collecting foreign material to send back, making connections with local shops, selling their wares whenever she could at the market...It was good, solid work, but enough to make her sick with boredom.
For the first time in a long while Adenah was dressed modestly and standing behind her stall in the city's market. It was another day, another coin and for all the activity around her Adenah couldn't find it in her to care.

Lynx had gotten bored with being at his grandparents house, same as his twin apparently since he'd snuck off, so he decided to go out. With everyone either at work or off doing something he had no one to just sit with. Eventually he found himself in the market, the go to for anyone who was bored. At least there they could look at shiny things or people watch. Lynx was doing a bit of both as he strolled along, one hand in his pocket as the other brought up an apple for him to take a bite out of. No way he'd leave the house without a snack. He was a growing boy! As he walked along he looked from side to side to see what and who was there. After a few stalls he stopped, mid step and mid bite, then back tracked a few feet. He noticed Adenah and his brows rose in unison. "Miss Ade?" He questioned before he redirected his feet to walk closer. "You're a merchant?"

Adenah was mid-exchange with a customer when she heard him. She smiled kindly to the younger soldier, handed him his new sword and gladly took his funds with a kind wave. "Come on back anytime! Tell your friends!"
Once she'd successfully finished her sale Adenah turned her smile towards Lynx. "Part time merchant. My family runs a smithy in Jauhar and sometimes to make a little extra cash I help them with sales." She slipped her newfound funds into a pouch on her hip. "If you're ever in the area and you need a strong blade with a foreign flare come on by. I'm sure I can find something you'll like."

He gave a low whistle as he heard her family ran a smithy. "What's with all the blacksmiths? My dad, my uncle, and now your family too?" Lynx shook his head some and took another bite of his apple. As he chewed he looked around. Blades weren't his thing though. After he swallowed it down he smiled at her. "I'm more into whips." HIs smile turned into a grin. "I need a beast too. Kinda hard to be a beast tamer without one."

Adenah gave a little laugh and moved over towards her display of daggers. Carefully, she picked up a small blade and started to wipe it down. "It's just common in a world that relies on weapons. My great-grandparents started the forge, then my grandmother took over and here we are. At least I offer something that isn't so common around here so I've got an edge." Holding the blade under the Oban sunlight made the moonstone it was crafted with all the brighter.
"A beast tamer, huh? Sounds like a lot of hard work."

He nodded his head as she said she had an edge for having something that wasn't all that common. "Yeah.. kinda. My grandfather travels to the other territories and brings back all kinds of things to sell. And I think my uncle is trying to learn how to do other styles." He brought his gaze up to Ade and grinned. "You might have some competition." He stepped in the other direction to look at something on the other end of her stall. "Could team up.. marry my uncle and have the best of both.." Lynx thought he was being sneaky as he said it.

Adenah twisted the hilt of the dagger around languidly before pointing it at Lynx. For a moment she had a grin on her face before it dropped after noticing he'd put some distance between them. What a brat.
"Oh I'm sure your Uncle would love to marry me. I can't think of anything that would bring him more joy." She rolled her eyes with a huff. The 'saleswoman' leaned against the counter top and toyed around with her dagger. "Make a big declaration of it in front of the entire family; oh wait, no! We could elope. Oh he would adore that." Rolling her eyes she sat the dagger down. "I'll just settle for putting a dent in his customers."

He glanced at her and grinned large when he saw she was pointing a dagger at him. As she spoke about it he turned to look at her fully, the grin never leaving his face. "Ah, I see you've put some thought into it huh? I wouldn't elope, Grandmother wouldn't like that. She likes the fuss and it would give her an excuse to cook." He was clearly having fun teasing her about the subject. He looked back at the weapons, pretending to be interested in them. "And if you wanted to make a huge announcement in front of the family about it.. I can find a way to make sure they are all gathered in one spot for ya."

Adenah snorted. "Stop being cheeky, you little brat. And stop-" She tapped on the counter top before pushing herself up. "-trying to set me up with your Uncle. I'm not wife material."
There was a lot Adenah wanted to accomplish in life and being tied down in a marriage just wasn't one of them. Criminal background aside she still had so much she needed to do before she ever intended on answering to anyone. If she ever did at all! "Let's just say I'm your Uncle's pretty friend and leave it at that, okay?"

He laughed a little and took another bite of his apple. As he chewed he stepped back over to where she was. He took the time to finish what was in his mouth then picked up the same dagger she'd had earlier. "Eh? Who said you had to be a real wife? Think about all the help you'd be. It would keep the other women away from him so he can focus on work. A nice shiny wedding ring on his finger would let them know he belongs to someone. And if you ever needed it you had someone to have your back. And a place to crash." Oh Lynx was trying alright. He wanted his uncle to have someone before he was too old and grey. It was a waste for him to be holed up in the forge all the time.

A fake wife? Adenah quirked her brow and gave Lynx a speculative look. She'd never pegged him for the scheming type, but he was quickly proving her wrong...
"A marriage of convenience, huh? There are worse options for a fake husband than Dovian, and yet I can't help but to notice one fatal flaw in your 'plan'." Other customers were starting to move in and peruse over her wares, causing Adenah to lower her voice a tick. "Even if I was going to agree to something as crazy as that your Uncle never would." Especially once he found out the real me. If he had any reservations about spending time with her before then he'd really put distance between them then.

He shrugged his shoulders and put the dagger down. "Wouldn't have to worry about him cheating unless you had something against the forge." When she lowered her voice and said something about his uncle not agreeing he moved closer to her so that he could speak softer but not whisper. "Want me to talk to him for ya?" Lynx winked at Adenah then. "You act like you have some huge thing that he'd hate. And unless you actually like him... it shouldn't matter for a 'fake' husband." Maybe if he twisted it around so that Ade thought she really liked his uncle then she'd agree? He could always trick his uncle into it later.

"Wouldn't matter if he cheated anyway if the marriage is fake." She quipped easily. When one of the customers had a question she answered it quickly and just as fast turned back to Lynx. "No, I really don't." She winked back before sticking out her tongue.
You sneaky little- "You're...not wrong, but that doesn't make you right, either." As her customers started to pick up Adenah found her attention drawn thinner and thinner to the point where she she had to give Lynx a sympathetic frown. "Look, if your Uncle wants to talk to me about this later then he can, but until then let's just table it, okay?"

"All women care about that.." He waited as she answered a customer, not wanting to get in the way of sales. Lynx took that time to take another bite of his apple. When she came back to him and said he wasn't wrong but not right either he perked a brow upward. Now there was something to dig up. When she said his uncle could talk to her about it later he gave a slow grin. "You didn't flat out refuse. You must have a soft spot for him." It made Lynx really think then before he spoke without letting his words go through a filter. "What did you two do...?" Then he stopped himself and shook his head. "Nope nevermind, I don't want to know. I'll just tell Uncle Dovi that you want him, then I'll tell Grandmother she can expect more grandkids." Knowing she couldn't leave her stall he wiggled his fingers at her in parting then stepped out of reach so he could skip away. He had no intention of telling anyone anything... yet.
