The park Sidi led Monoceros to was jsut as she'd hoped--empty, except for them. It was late enough that few people would be out anyway, and she didn't sense any other powered auras lurking, which was a positive. She was pretty sure that between the two of them, they could handle any threat, but she also didn't want to get into a fight tonight, with her starseed so recently recovered.
She sat down on the edge of the fountain, and patted the space next to her, so Monoceros could sit too.
"So, how long have you been a Senshi?"

Monoceros sat next to her, crossing his feet at the ankles. "Uh, couple months, though that—that was the first time I've been in a real fight," he said, voice hushing to a whisper by the end of the sentence. "I, uh, mostly just... Trained and stuff. So far. I'm really glad that... I could do that. That I was... enough, I guess?" He inhaled slowly. "What about you? How long you been a page?"

Sidi gave him a sympathetic smile, shrugging her shoulders. "You were plenty. You came in, and you saved me, and that's what matters. So I'd say whatever training you've done has been effective, at least." She ducked her head, a little, looking embarrassed. "I'll have been a Page for two years come April, and I feel like I've barely done anything." She tilted her head to the side, thoughtfully. "Though I have had a few fights, and been in the middle of some strange happenings. You never know when things are going to go weird in Destiny City."
To say the least, she thought.

"You've done more than I have," he said, "A few fights is more than one. And I've been in, uh, two, I guess, strange happenings, but one of them was before I was... aware of being magical and all that. You'll get there, just like I will, yeah?" He smiled sweetly at her. "I bet it won't be long before you get your chance to, uh, become even cooler. I dunno what your, uh, power-up Pokémon evolution thing is called, hah. You can always hang out with me and train or talk or whatever!"

Sidi snorted quietly, but she did nod in agreement. It was true; they'd both get there when they got there, and rushing or worrying wouldn't get them very far.
"Squire. Pages become Squires become Knights--I, uh. Know some things. There's a Knight, Hyperborea, who's helped me out a lot. She was there when I Awakened, and helped me get acquainted with Knighthood, and she's....really amazing." Sidi sighed, faintly, in the fond way a girl sighed over her crush. "So, y'know, I've been lucky to have a sort of mentor in all of this chaos."

"Pages become Squires become Knights," he repeated to himself, the more to lock it into his memory. His grin turned a little more mischievous at the sigh, and he leaned in a bit closer. "Oh?" he said teasingly, "She must be pretty amazing, with that lovesick sigh of yours. Tell me about her!"

Sidi flushed, cheeks going as red as her hair, and she ducked her head and looked away.
"It is not a lovesick sigh, I don't like her that way, we're just friends." That was all they could be. Hype probably saw her as nothing more than a project--someone she needed to help along. No matter how nice going to a fancy party with her had been. "But she's really great. She's been a Knight for year,s and she's special--Transcendent, which means she has these gorgeous glowy marks on her body." She traced the lines on her own arm, mirroring Hype's. "They protect her form Chaos, which is...amazing."

He decided to just let it go—after all, they'd only just met, and it was possible he was misreading it. He didn't want to chase away a potential new friend with some bullshittery. "Transcendent? Whoa. That sounds like, mega-hyper cool," he said, eyes wide, "You're pretty lucky, to have her to help. That's just...wow! How does it even work? What does it take to... gain transcendence, if you can?"

Sidi sat up, and grinned. This was easier to talk about--what Hype had told her about Trranscendence and how it worked.
"From what Hype told me? It's all about dedicating yourself to your space object--you know, the magic Wonder or planet you're named for," she said. "Hype really loves hers--I keep meaning to ask her to take me, actually, I'd really like to see one." She coughed. "I, uh. Haven't been to mine, yet, but I want to go, sometime. Just to see what it's like, you know? Maybe I won't be as good at dedicating myself to it as Hype is, but I can still try and figure out what's what. It's the place I'm supposed to protect, after all."

Monoceros nodded as he listened, rubbing his chin in thought. "I haven't been to my constellation, either," he said sheepishly, "It's just so... intimidating, you know? This place that you've magically inherited, with a whole history of its own, the people who came before you, everything..." He paused, looking up to the sky. "I mean, I can barely keep track of Earth's bullshit, y'know? How am I just supposed to... go up there and revive a whole history of a people? All on my own?" His shoulders slumped. "I don't know if I'll be good enough for that kind of thing," he said softly, looking rather like an upset puppy dog.

Sidi nodded, thoughtfully, and she stared up at the sky, full of stars that sparkled in the night. Every one of those was a potential Senshi homeworld, and every one might have its own rich history and culture and...any number of other things. And that wasn't even counting all the potential Wonders out there in the universe.
Sidi thought highly of herself, that was for certain, but this....was still enough to make her feel small.
"The universe can't expect that of us. It can't be asking us to rebuild everything that was. I mean, even if there's a lot of us....there's still so few. And just one, for so many of those worlds." She shook her head. "It can't all be on us. Especially not when we also have to deal with the Negaverse, right here and now."

"The universe needs to get to picking more people, then," he said lightly, trying to lift the mood back up. "Because... you're right. That makes me feel better. We need... so much help." He smiled softly at her. "There's a lot out there. And while I want to visit, someday... We def need to focus on the negagents, first."

]"Negagents," Sidi laughed, a soft thing, because she didn't want to accidentally draw attention--but it was still obvious, bubbling mirth. And a laugh was welcome, when she'd been in a life-or-death situation not too long before. "I don't think any of them would like you calling them that." Not that she knew; her encounters with the Negaverse had been....basically nonexistent. Until tonight.
"But...we have to do what we can, right?" She said. "It's all we can do."

He cracked a grin, pleased that his little nickname had worked to make her laugh. "Yeah, well, they won't like a face full of porcupine quills either," he remarked with a snort of laughter, "And... yeah. We can only do what we can. To exhaust ourselves by overextending... is just a way to let them win."

"Exactly. And there are so many of us...the universe must know that we're all doing our best." Because every time Sidi had charged into danger, or been wrapped up in some strange event, she'd found someone else. Another person on their side, who was fighting. People who wanted to help and protect each other.
She sighed, though, briefly, and stood up.
"It's getting late. I should head home--but I'd like to find you again soon, Monoceros. Thank you, again. For saving my life."
