New Year, New Me

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

Another year has passed in Tendaji, meaning a new opportunity for the residents to accomplish their goals and dreams. Typically, this is a time for setting promises to oneself and others on what to do in the year ahead. There are many different superstitions on how to make a New Year's Wish: some toss their written wishes into the sea, others will burn them at a shrine, and even more will whisper them to representatives of the gods.

No matter how one goes about doing it, all will take the time to ensure that their wishes and promises have the best chance to come true in the New Year.

[ What is your character's promise for the New Year? Go about their practice of setting their goals and dreams in the way they feel is most important. Maybe they go to the shrines, or wish under a star, or honor the god(s) they follow. The goal of this World Event is to make a wish for the next year however your character chooses fit. ]

WC - 765

With the arrival of the new year she knew many changes were to happen, like they did every year. Her best friend was likely going to set off on an adventure now that he had things in order and was plenty old enough. Her brothers had gotten offers for decent jobs in the nearby village, though it was mostly hard labor. The both of them didn’t seem to mind and so long as they didn’t then she wouldn’t either. What she did worry about was what she was going to do with herself. She didn’t want to be stuck under the watchful eye of her brothers the rest of her life, as much as she loved them. And she’d recently gotten hold of a crossbow, which made it so much easier for her to hunt.

So the more she thought about it the more Ejskoia wanted to go out exploring. Most of Sauti she had seen due to her wandering. Or just her being nosy. So that left the other territories. From recent experience she knew that Zena was far too cold for her to really consider going farther than the border areas. Koia just really didn’t have the clothing to do all that. She’d need to invest in thick pants, a long sleeved shirt, and a fur lined coat if she were to go that way. Tale had been interesting, the one time she had made the trip there with her friend, Oduin. There were also a lot of beasts in that area that were perfect for hunting. It would make things plenty interesting for her if she spent some time there.

Ejskoia smiled as she got the notion in her head that this was what she wanted to do. Anyone that knew her knew that once she had an idea or thought in mind then there was no stopping her at all. She was a free spirit to be sure and hard headed when she wanted to be.

Tale still had many more places to see than just the little meadow she’d found to hunt kinfa feathers in. So that meant that she could enjoy the scenery and take her time as she journeyed through it. Of course she could always send things back to her brothers to let them know she was alright. Or to just give them gifts. Once she started hunting she could sell the meat and furs or hides of whatever she killed. It would give her an income to travel on as well as survive off of. It wasn’t a bad deal in her mind. She had most of the supplies to start out with, she only needed to get some rations for the journey and she had the coin for it saved up.

“Ejskoia? You wanna come down off that tree and help me carry this?” It was her brother who called her.

“Hm? Sure.” She shifted so that she wasn’t laying out on the branch, as per her usual, and hopped down. Her landing was easy, well practiced, as she’d done it a million times before. Once she stood tall again she held her hands out for one of the baskets that her brother had with him. “I’ll take one.”

“You know eventually you’re gonna have to stop all this day dreaming and do some work right?” He smiled at her.

“Yeah, I know.” Koia chuckled. “I’m working on it.”

He handed her one of the baskets then reached up and ruffled her hair. It made the uneven cut look even messier than before which brought a laugh out of him. “We’ll have to fix your hair at some point. You’re getting older and this style doesn’t suit you all that much.”

She took the basket in one hand, placing it against her hip so that it was balanced well. After he ruffled her hair she rolled her eyes at him but grinned. “I thought about cutting it but I like the braid.” But he had a point. Her uneven style didn’t fit her anymore. And if she wanted to travel it would be easier to maintain if it were shorter. Her free hand went to the braid over her shoulder and she lifted it up for inspection. As she eyed it she thought about what to do with her hair. A short style would be easy. Easy to brush. Easy to style. Easy to wash.

“Yeah, I think I can get it cut. It won’t look that bad then.” She dropped it back down onto her shoulder and motioned for him to lead the way.
