New Year, New Me
Solo or RP Format Counts as 5 RP growth Points Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7Another year has passed in Tendaji, meaning a new opportunity for the residents to accomplish their goals and dreams. Typically, this is a time for setting promises to oneself and others on what to do in the year ahead. There are many different superstitions on how to make a New Year's Wish: some toss their written wishes into the sea, others will burn them at a shrine, and even more will whisper them to representatives of the gods. No matter how one goes about doing it, all will take the time to ensure that their wishes and promises have the best chance to come true in the New Year. [ What is your character's promise for the New Year? Go about their practice of setting their goals and dreams in the way they feel is most important. Maybe they go to the shrines, or wish under a star, or honor the god(s) they follow. The goal of this World Event is to make a wish for the next year however your character chooses fit. ]

Wangui was training, her body covered in sweat as she worked on exercises to build muscle. It wasn't a running day, so she focused on her arms and legs in a way she knew they would ache the next morning. She wanted to build up her strength to prepare for her Warrior training, and she would make sure she didn't make any mistake. Specifically, she focused on what she needed to do for the spear, having decided that it was the most idea weapon. She needed muscle to be swift, to strike like a Keldari.
As she wound down from her workout, she made way over to where the water was, grabbing a cup and filling it up before throwing the contents over her head. Shaking out her head and dreads, she scratched at the for a moment before looking around, wondering if anyone was nearby.

Hess, unlike her sister, hadn't been training today. Many of their sisters were taking the early days of the new year to rest and settle their minds for the year ahead, praying at the tree or spending time with their families in retrospection of the last year. That left many of the younger Aishans listless and over excited, so ... Hess had spent the day distracting them, allowing their mothers and sisters a chance to worship as they saw fit.
Needless to say, Hesperia was glad that at this point in her life she could still duck away from THAT particular job, and spend her free time on her own. ... Still, before long she found herself tracing her way back to her twin's side, just as her sweaty sister tossed water over herself, seemingly unconcerned with the cold around them.
"Oh, Wangui- have you been out here all day? I thought you were with our mothers...!" Hesperia expressed with wide eyes, propping her hands on her hips.

Bright yellow eyes caught sight of her sister, and Wangui shared a rouge-ish grin before rolling said eyes. Of course she had been training, it was something she enjoyed to distract herself whenever she needed to do something. While her sister was the more...educated of the two, Wangui was slowly becoming the muscle. Wit was great, but she valued her muscles more than anything.
"Both of them are off doing things with the other Alkidikes. I didn't want to tag along, so I decided to train..." she finally replied with a shrug, moving to ring out her bangs, "What have you been doing?"

Hm. Hesperia wrinkled her nose at that. It felt, somehow, wrong to her to not focus on family during a time like this. "Watching the little ones. Or... littler ones, I suppose." Hesperia murmured in response, tucking her arms over her chest almost self consciously. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean for you to be on your own. The elders say ... the elders say that days like this are for self reflection, and... deciding what parts of yourself you will carry into the new year." It sounded like there was something deep in those words. Ultimately, she just felt put out that none of her family had seemed concerned with carrying family with them. Even herself, considering she'd shrugged them off to watch other Vandrea instead.
"If you ask some of the older sisters, I think all they want to carry into the new year is a hangover."

The little ones. The future tribe. They were growing quite big these days, with a few Alkidike sisters having sought blessings these past few years. It drove Wangui to train more, if not to avoid the kids pandering but also to want to become strong enough to protect everyone. Slamming the stick in the ground she was using to train with, Wangui decided it was time enough for a break.
Wangui laughed at the last statement, using the humor to brush off the seriousness of her sister. Was Hesperia feeling a bit lonely? Based on what she said, it seemed she wanted to carry on more than just strength or power or a future of the tribe.
"I'm at a good place to stop..." She replied slowly, taking a deep breath, "Did you want to do something? I'm not great with self reflection...but...I could always try?"

Hess lifted her head towards her sister, her features softening as she smiled. Wangui was so different from her, but ... but she was always there for her. Always. "I just... I know we're a family, all of us. All our sisters. But -" She trailed off a moment, frowning. "Sometimes I just want to be with Us. Our mothers, and you. Sometimes the rest of it feels like too much. You know?"
It was a shameful thing to admit, since she was a caretaker for all those little ones. But...

"I hear you..." Wangui replied readily as her sister finished her sentiments,"It's different, being of the same set of blooms. Sure we've got all these sisters, but you're my true sister. Family is important, and what matters most."
Wangui said it with such conviction, truly believing that her family was above all else.
"There's nothing wrong with wanting to spend some time together." In fact, Wangui never really recalled a time where she felt frustrated with her sister compared to the others. She simply loved Hesperia, and that was that.

4/7 Hesperia relaxed when her sister spoke, smiling. She knew she'd understand! She stepped closer to where her sister stood, beckoning her to sit with her, to rest if nothing else. Once seated, she idly smoothed out the wrinkles in her shift, then gazed at her sister. "I know we're all working so hard to build our people here. But-" She bit her lip, exhaling slowly through her nose. "Do you ever wish to... go back to where it started? Visit the other settlements?"

Wangui plopped to the ground, rather ungraceful and very uncaring, before leaning back on her palms and appreciating the calm of the moment. As she caught her breath and cooled off her body, she turned to look at her sister as Hesperia asked the question.
Her brows furrowed in thought.
"To visit?" well visiting wasn't so bad. But Wangui didn't really see a life out there like other sisters. Instead, she wanted to protect her family and her tree, and the eventual mystics that would bloom.
"You mean Aisha?"

[5/7] Right. Hesperia nodded quickly. Aisha! Right... yes. Not the Alkidike there, or even the earthlings--
Goddess forbid. Hesperia cleared her throat and pushed back her thick hair, turning away from her sister. She could tell that Wangui wasn't as keen on that idea as Hesperia was, herself. "Yes, to visit. Just... to pay our respects."

The girl let out a long hum, thinking over her own desires for the year to come. It wouldn't be too bad to get out and visit the settlements of their mothers, to learn more about the world. Plus, it would help her ensure she was ready to protect her home.
"I don't see why not...eventually they have to let us go out, right? I mean, we have a few who have come to visit us..."
Like the daughters of the mystic who had come to visit before their sisters were bloomed.

Right! Hess sighed out a silent breath of relief, then turned back to her sister again, smiling. "Yes! And... I'm sure there's so much we could learn from the other settlements. If we had answers to the questions the little ones ask, they might not be so keen to go out and... learn them themselves!"
The little ones. Of course. There were younger sisters who asked, of course, but so far their elders had done a decent job in dissuading too much open speculation. The hybrids who lived among them were the ones, so far, that elicited the most curiosity, but even they were given a wide berth for the most part.

Wangui wasn't as confident in the sentiment of traveling to learn. She still had so much to learn here, where she needed to understand the land so she could defend it from any trespassers. But Hesperia was really hopeful in the future being one of growth and travel that Wangui didn't want to get her hopes up. So she simply brushed her sweating brow and nodded slowly in agreement.
"Eventually, sisters are going to leave, just like the Alkidike sisters and the Elaria sisters." She finally replied, "Best we can do is make sure they are safe."
Be it preparing them for fighting, or for the reality of the world, that's all they could do.
"Well, if that's what you want, just let me know..." She'd go with her sister, even if it was just one visit before returning home to protect her family. After all, Hess was her true family, so she should make sure to protect her first.
