Fears are meant to be overcome, but often are hard to do so. What are the fears that plague your character at night? How long have they dealt with these fears, and where did they originate from? How do they deal with their fears, and how does it impact their life and relationships? And will they ever work to overcome it?

[ Spend this World Event working through the fears of your character, either on their own or with some moral support of a friend ]

Life as a newlywed was hard enough as it was, but then Ada became sick.

At first the chiavi had just acted...off. It was hard to explain, but Sylvirah had been around the avian long enough to know when she wasn’t feeling well. She’d chosen to leave her behind for a few days and focus on feeding richer foods in the hope of a speedy recovery. In those early days Ada would still come out to greet Sylvirah; full of chirps and nibbling at her braids. The day she didn’t sent Sylvirah’s heart into her gut.

The chiavi was curled up in a large ball of feathers in her ‘nest’; which is to say, the shed Gunnar had constructed for her outside their home. She didn’t so much as raise her head when Sylvirah approached and her breathing seemed labored. Her own breathing faltering, Sylvirah gave her best friend a heartening hug before setting off in search of….of what? You’re no healer, what can you do? Where was she supposed to go? A healer or an animal handler?

Zyphire never intended to stay up north for so long but between the business for Talisia and other personal concerns the shifter found himself basically residing in one of the city's inns. Sometimes he would find himself pressing a bit closer to the fire, a somewhat dramatic response to slight fear that he could potentially just freeze to death one night, but other than that Zyphire was adapting. He had spent over a decade living in the lower areas of Zena which had their fair share of winter after all....he just had to get accustomed to the cold winds being a bit harsher, more to deeply biting into his bones instead of the light nibbles that the southern winds did when they brushed against his body. "I suppose I'll have to head out now." He murmured before rubbing his hands against the heat of the dancing flames one final time. Pulling on his leathers Zyphire added a heavy wool tunic and some furs to his wintry ensemble before finally opening the door and emerging from his room.

Going down the creaking stairs, Zyphire only paused to grab a roll from one of the maids...and perhaps took a moment to give them an appreciative glance and a wink before promptly emerging from the inn and into to the frigid air of the city streets. Plopping the roll into his mouth to savor its warmth before it was gone the Shifter turned on a heel to go towards the markets before stumbling backwards and turning once more. Was that....it was! Zyphire started chasing after Sylvirah, his hand reaching out to touch her shoulder in greeting, any actual words delayed by the final chews required to finish off his breakfast.

Sylvirah was beyond lost. One would think that after being here long enough that she would get used to the market, but in all honesty she was ever more overwhelmed now than usual. City life would never suit here; there were just too many people, too many colors and noises, too much-

With a squeal she turned, golden eyes wide with shock until she saw Zyphire and in an instant they turned into a pout. "Are you trying to kill me?" Maybe her words had a little more of a snap to them then usual today, but she really could have hit him in that moment. And was he...was he eating something?

Sylvirah's reaction almost made Zyphire lose the remainder of his roll. Thankfully the shifter was quick enough to swallow the final bite before letting out a chuckle. "Shouldn't that usually be my question for you?" He teased with a grin as he reflected upon their first meeting. It seemed that they usually had the most dangerous encounters and honestly he couldn't resist peeking around just to make certain that there wasn't something lurking around the corner to attack him now. Wiping the crumbs from his fingers against his leathers, Zyphire took a moment to study Sylvirah. Was it just him or did she seem a bit...edgier than usual? "What are you doing running around the streets here?" He finally found himself daring to ask as he watched her.

The huntress' face scrunched up in a firm scowl. Normally she'd have some cheeky little quip to whip right back at him, but today she wasn't in the mood for it. Or maybe she was...honestly, Sylvirah wasn't for sure. Seeing Zyphire when she was so worried about Ada was comforting, in it's own weird way, but she couldn't become distracted!

"Ada's sick and I need to find an healer for her. I just...I don't know what or who I'm looking for." She admitted with a heavy sigh. Her words had started off so brusque and to the point that by the end the sheer exhaustion of her situation had brought about a new wave of uncertainty. What if she didn't find the right person in time? What if they wouldn't be able to help her?

She'd already seen so much death already.

"Ada's sick?" Repeated Zyphire with a thoughtful tilt of his head. "Well hopefully you're looking for a healer of some sorts." He started before studying her a second longer, his expression shifting into a more serious demeanor as he recognized the worry in the iceling's eyes. How sick was Ada for Sylvirah to be running out in the city like this? "What symptoms does she have?" Zyphire finally asked quietly as he took a step towards Sylvirah. "My cousin works with animals all the time so maybe I can help. We're not far enough south for me to take you there right away but I can take a look?" He bit the inside of his cheek thoughtfully. He had run some errands in the city before so if the chiavi was truly in danger there was always the grumpy old man that he had met once or twice before. Maybe that old fart would be good in this situation if Zyphire wasn't able to do much.

Hopefully you're looking for a healer. Oh, no, she was just walking around for the hell of it. Sylvirah's demeanor sharpened for just that brief moment as her ire spiked. Just as quickly, though, she tried to tamp it down. She was smart enough to know that her emotions were out of sorts because of personal worry, but it wasn't like she could do anything about that; yet.

"Her appetite hasn't been the same for the past few days. At first I thought it might have been something she ate, but then she just kept wanting to sleep." Sylvirah raised a hand to run it through her hair. "Her eyes are dull, a little swollen, and kind of...gooey? Her breathing doesn't sound right either." The iceling didn't realize that her hand was shaking or how close she was to losing it. Just talking about it was upsetting to her, but she so rarely dealt in matters like this that she just kept trying to push it back.

"Would you? Any help you can give would be appreciated." If his cousin really could help then she would find a way to get Ada south, no matter the cost. But if he saw her and thought she was beyond saving...

She wasn't crying, but the iceling was as close to it as she'd been in years.

Zyphire didn't even say a word as he reached out to grab Sylvirah's hand with his own. The Shifter kept hold of her hand while he listened and after pondering the symptoms he slowly nodded. "It could be a cold." He commented before blinking at her request. "Of course I'll help. Don't you worry, I'll make sure Ada recovers to fight another day." Zyphire squeezed her fingers comfortingly before gesturing with his free hand. "Lead the way and I'll follow." If it was a really bad cold he could take them both to the south towards the sanctuary but he would have to help stabilize Ada first. If it wasn't so damn cold this far north. Zyphire wrinkled his nose in distaste as another cold breeze brushed through his furs and dug into his bones. He just hoped that he could get the right herbs this far north....surely though since they were in the capitol there would be plenty in the marketplace.

Sylvirah's breath hitched when he took her hand and she wasn't ashamed to say that the act just made her eyes water that much more. Still, she fought hard to keep the tears at bay and took a steady breath to calm herself.

"I hope so. I've seen hunters die from less." One day they were hale and hearty, the next they were lying atop a funeral pyre. Life could change so drastically in the north that any little thing was cause for concern in her world. I was why she'd been so scared when she thought he was half-frozen and now...

"She's this way, just outside of the city." Of course she didn't think of the implications of a married woman holding the hang of another man in public. Sylvirah didn't honestly care. The only thing she was truly aware of was that the moment he let go she was going to lose all hope of sanity. She started to lead the way out of town, but noticed the way he bristled under the cold wind. Frowning, Sylvirah shifted her hand so that her arm was looped with his instead and pressed her own furred cloak closer to his. "I can't give you mine, but this should help."

"Nothing will happen on my watch." Zyphire replied without hesitation, his gaze softening as he realized just how stressed Sylvirah was over this whole situation. If she hadn't run into him then what would be happening now? Did she have anyone really in the city to rely on? Should he care? The Shifter though was reminded of how he once felt so alone in the world and how he never wanted to feel that way again. His greatest fear was solitude - he could only imagine how surprising that confession would be with those who knew him. It was why he had opted to stay in Zena and make his home at the sanctuary rather than finding warmer climates on his own.

Zyphire's focus returned to Ada as he briskly walked in the direction that Sylvirah had told him. The sudden warmth at his side made him blink in surprise and he couldn't help the smile that spread across his lips at the contact. It seemed that he couldn't get away from the woman at his side and despite the rough nature of their initial meeting it seemed that each new encounter was starting to sway his attention towards her more and more. "It does help." He replied as they pressed forward towards the city gates. "We should be close, right?"

"I hope you're right." He seemed so sure of himself that she wanted to believe him. Her biggest fear was death and it was one that she'd grown hand in hand with. No matter how many times Sylvirah came face to face with her fear it still held her heart in an iron grip. Nothing could bring the huntress to a standstill quite like the thought of losing someone close to her and Ada was as good as a sister to the huntress. If he was sure he could help then she wanted to try.

She led the way past the city gate and away from the same guards she saw on an almost daily basis. A few tossed strange looks her way, mumbling underneath their breath to one another, but that wasn't anything new. Sylvirah was used to being talked about. The way to her new home wasn't as far off as she would have preferred. It was close enough to Zidel that Gunnar could easily get to work but just far enough into the woods so that Sylvirah wasn't smothered. They stayed in a little hunting cabin, and her husband was home if the fire coming from the chimney was any indication. She didn't steer Zyphire that way, however; rather, she led them to a cozy little shack build some odd feet away from the main house. Only then did she break away from the shifter and only to open the wide, sliding door.

Inside was a large, open stall lined with fresh hay, blankets and anything else Ada may have needed. The pillows were an obvious sign that Sylvirah had been staying the night out here with her, but her poor chiavi didn't look any better for the attention. The massive avian was curled up and barely even opened an eye to greet her mistress.

Zyphire quirked a brow when he noticed the strange looks and whispers but he shrugged them aside for the time being. Perhaps the guards weren't accustomed to seeing a shiter...though he hadn't gotten such looks in a while. Either way he was worried about Ada and such nonsense from others was unimportant to the task at hand. When the small home came into view he did pause in surprise before shooting a look of his own towards Sylvirah. "You're actually living this close to the city or visiting someone?" He found himself asking before they headed into the shed and his attention went straight to the sick chiavi.

"Oh you poor darling." Zyphire murmured as he let go of Sylvirah and carefully approached Ada. His hands were gentle as he ran them along her feathers and after a moment he placed his head against her chest to listen for her breathing. It was ragged and similar to something he had seen before in other chiavi. The thought made his expression darken with worry as he pulled away to look at Sylivrah. "I'm going to do my best for her here but I think we need to get her south. My cousin has a sanctuary along the border there and she takes care of animals." Zyphire didn't want to worry Sylvirah but he was seriously concerned. What could be considered a simple cold this far north could turn into something much worse if they didn't get her proper treatment and warmer weather soon.

"...I got married." The way she said it was without passion and borderlined hesitancy. "He's from my village and he promised to help if I became his bride." It wasn't a bad trade; one's happiness for a tribes safety. if she couldn't sacrifice that much then how could she ever really call herself Ild'vann?

As much as she wanted to be by Ada's side, the iceling forced herself to stand back while he performed his inspection. While she'd expected his reaction Sylvirah couldn't help dreading it. Nodding, she stepped forward and dropped on her knees beside Ada. When Sylvirah lifted her hand to massaged the area between the chiavi's eyes she gave a soft little chirp. "I'll get a wagon ready by first light." There was no point going out now. Anyone willing to trade with her would be locked up in their homes by now.

"...And I'll have to tell Gunnar."

"I'm sorry come again? Zyphire's silvery gaze widened in disbelief at the revelation. Why would she do such a thing? Better yet why did it bother him so much to hear that? Her explanation only made his frustration worsen. "That's not a reason...do you understand what marriage should be?" He shook his head before brushing past, his attention focused on Ada before his ire grew. Married!

"You go do that. " He replied stiffly while frowning at the name of her husband in obvious disdain. Already he was imaginng some sort of scrub that wasnt even here when Sylvirah was worried over Ada. It was childish but Zyphire was notorious for being a bit of a brat on occasion and he had no reason to like this guy especially not after hearing how it was some sort of bargained marriage. The shifter inhaled and then glanced back to Sylvirah. "Be ready by dawn then. I'm going to gather herbs and make medicine for Ada. I'll stay the night here with her until we leave. And just like that he was gone back towards the city to prepare for the abrupt departure and to cool off the irritation that had started bubbling up inside.
