The rare celestial event is seen as a blessing, and this one just so happens to have appeared right when the New Year began. Akiliano strolled along the shore humming to himself, it was a wonderful evening to stargaze and see what he could see in the night sky. It was almost seasonal weather which it was kinda new to him because it wasn't too cold and it wasn't too hot. He was a roaming nomad so he had no set place to live but if he had met someone that would pursuade him to live on the beach year round he might reconsider being a roaming nomad. He stopped walking and looked up at the night sky watching the stars twinkle. As far as his knowledge he had heard rumors that there was going to a meteor shower tonight and he wanted to watch it, but in his opinion having a companion to watch it with would make so much more fascinating and intriguing. He was quietly hoping someone would be willing to keep him company during the meteor shower.

All of Na'au's cousins had scrambled out of the reef and onto the beach tonight, and Na'au had followed reluctantly, more out of a feeling of obligation than any real desire to watch stars shoot across the sky. There was much else she wanted to do - things that she considered less frivolous, less of a time suck than sitting on the beach and staring at the sky. But her mother had given her a look and booted her right out of the reef, and that had been the end of that. She'd never really felt she fit in, and in all her years of living among the Hapuna, she'd met few souls she would call friends. Nobody who understood her way of seeing things. So she wandered a ways from the main group, which had gathered on one end of the beach, giggling and laughing their troubles away as they awaited the spectacle. Instead, she found herself walking farther from their home, her lure casting a soft coral glow on the ground before her as she went, until she spotted an unfamiliar figure sitting close to the shore. Huh. Curious. He had the general look of a Menehune, but bright, brilliant blue hair that seemed quite out of place for a swamp dweller. Na'au moved closer. "Hello," she said with a soft smile. "Are you waiting for the meteor shower on your own?"

Akiliano blinked as he heard a voice from beside him before shifting his gaze from the sky to source of the voice. "Ah...Yes I 'am...I don't really have family and I have yet to make some friends" he admitted openly. He was a very open person and loved talking to strangers because he knew that was one way to make some friends just spontaneiously speaking and in the end it usually worked to make some friends. He tilted his head to the side attentively "What about you? are you waiting for the meteor shower by yourself as well?" he asked her politely.

"Are you new here?" she asked, curious. No family, at his age... she felt a stab of empathy for him, though she knew she shouldn't be too hasty to assume anything about his life. "Oh, well, I..." Na'au began, turning momentarily back toward the cluster of young Hapuna gathered rowdily on the beach. Even here, the sounds of their laughter and chatter were readily audible. They were still her people, in a way, and none of them would ever tell her that she wasn't welcome. She could walk right back over and join the group, and they would greet her happily. But Na'au couldn't help but feel that she had never really belonged with them, could never truly relate to their happy-go-lucky nature. She exhaled forcefully, with a little laugh that was not particularly mirthful, turning back to the Menehune. "Yea, I guess I am. Do you mind if I join you?"

He nodded his head lightly "I guess you could say that, since its been a few days, so I 'am fairly new" he answered and tilted his head to the side a little "Still trying to figure out the ropes and such but it proves to be difficult when I'm trying to adjust by myself, you know" he told her. He shook his head lightly at her inquiry of joining him "You are more then welcome to join me, its much more intriguing to watch when you have companion to wait for it too" he told her politely smiling a lightly.

"New to the beach?" Na'au asked, picking her way over and settling herself onto the sand next to him. "Where are you from?" She propped her knees up and wrapped her arms around them, scrunching down to rest her chin atop her knees as she peered up at the sky. The stars were out in force, as they usually were, seeming particularly bright in anticipation of the meteor shower they were about to see. "My name is Na'au," she added with a smile. "I'm from... sort of here, I guess. My father is from the deep ocean, but I live here." For now. She didn't say it though, because voicing it out loud would have made it a little too much of a reality.

Akiliano tilted his head to the side a bit thoughtfully"Honestly, if I had to answer that. I would have to say..I'm not from anywhere in particular. I'm just trying to find a place that is right fit for me." he told her. To be honest he wasn't even entirely sure where he was from so that was a difficult question to answer. "Though the beach seems like a good place to set down roots and such, but I don't know." he said to her. "Ah..well...nice to meet you Na'au; My name is Akiliano" he replied.
