In a world where magic is used but not the main weapon of influence that some stories has magic as, magic is practiced as a science, helping people and their professions in life. Some use magic to cultivate farmlands and agriculture, the manipulation of water, earth and life. Others use magic as a means to heal others of illness and injury. However, it can’t stop people from dying or closing large wounds but it does help the body’s natural healing process accelerate to where the person is healed. While other magic like elemental and arcane can be used as a weapon in war. Nothing like huge meteors falling from the sky or giant tidal waves crashing over settlements wiping them off from the face of the map, it’s rudimentary in application and use.
The use of magic is powered by an individual’s well of power, for lack of better terms, Mana. Only so much mana can be used at once and only so much can be used per day, as mana is an energy that the body and the conscious produces and uses, similar to energy from eating. If you use too much at once, you run the risk of destroying your capability of ever using magic again as well as crippling yourself permanently. An example of a paragon user of magic and how powerful they are, through a lifetime of study, practice, and raw talent, the user may be able to take out ten soldiers in an army with maximum effort, pushing themselves to the edge. Magic is a science and should be treated as such. Magic cannot open doors with the flick of the risk or swish of a wand. It is the study of the element associated with the action you are trying to take.
One nation, the nation of Reseria, specializes in the use of fire in their armies, giving them the edge over their rival nations. The march of soldiers cleaving through settlements that do not surrender willingly and fight to the last breath literally have a scorched earth policy where they will burn everything to the ground, burning farmlands and taking lives to fuel their ambitions of conquest and expansion. People who surrender and are inducted into the nation of Reseria as villages giving tax and tribute to the capital. While some settlements are offered some lenience in how they are able to pay tribute to be under the Kingdom’s protection, others if given the brilliance of mind and natural talent are enrolled in the study and tutelage of magic. Learning magic gives one the chance to empower their career and produce more, furthering the Kingdom’s vision of a perfect and just society.
They don’t just teach fire magic, as limiting their people’s opportunities and ability will always yield bad results. One could enroll in a medical field and learn how to treat wounds. Being a doctor doesn’t mean you have to learn how to use magic to heal wounds or treat ailments, as sometimes it’s just impossible to have the raw talent to do so, but it is a part of the course to learn the very basics of sealing a wound, cleaning out a wound without needing the precision of stitching the wound. One could join a college of carpentry or masonry and utilize magic taught there to assist them in building houses and cities with efficiency that one would not find in building it purely by hand. However, some magic can be taught in the shadows, taught by criminals. Most common skills taught are pickpocketing, silent movement into the night, reducing light in a room or alley to hide their presence. Some geniuses in magic are also able to make the air thicker, causing sound waves to dilute and distort, reducing noise.
After expansion and recent surrenders by neighboring kingdom’s, Reseria’s height of power seems to be at its apex. The king, ruler of Reseria: Alabaster Cornelius Varibon Reseria has four sons. In order from oldest to youngest are his children; Thorival Reseria, Luciel Reseria, Sariel Reseria, and Demitrious Reseria. Each son has their own specialty and thoughts on how the nation should be led, they all answer to their father. Alabaster, being as old as he is, has been preparing the treasury of the kingdom to be ready for a transition in the event of his departure from the world. Courting with emissaries from other nations to keep trade routes and agreements in strong standing, courting with the nobles so his cabinet of providers and investors are content with the laws and agreements in their end. The only thing that has yet to be decided and set-in stone is the order of succession. Recently Alabaster and Thorival have been at odds with each other in Thorival’s career choice and decision to join the knights of Reseria has changed Alabaster’s mind in who will succeed him. Changing arrangements for Thorival to be wed to an ally Kingdom’s princess right before it would occur, he gave the princesses hand to the youngest son Demitrious in retaliation to Thorival’s rebellion against Alabaster’s wishes. Without saying a word, he had changed who would succeed him to it being up in the air completely, as he has not made an official statement. With this, underground movements of criminals and freedom fighters have been given a chance to rise in power and gain clout with the civilians, allowing them to acquire wealth and freedom of movement. Some civilians even lying to the guards protecting wanted criminals. With chaos seeming to bubble just beneath the surface, the kingdom of Reseria is at odds with itself.
However, only the people in power really know this for certain fact. The royal castle still seems to function as normally as it ever did: the royal family and those in high ranking positions residing in lavish luxury.... all at the expense of their many, many slaves. Slavery is very common in the country, but most of all at the Castle. They are kept under lock and key, all wearing collars and treated like pets, and forced to keep the castle in working order and the guests happy.
While the tension of Reseria has been kept mostly under wraps, slight whispers have begun to spread amongst the indentured servants...

However, instead of going to a foster home, she ended up being sent off into slavery instead. She doesn't complain because she's had to live in drugs and filth and nastiness, so to her working at the castle and having decent food is a huge upgrade. Chii has been very thankful to have a clean place to live, so she works her hardest every day, slowly climbing up the ladder until she was promoted all the way up to personal slave to the royal family.

As the years went by, she started getting into theft and small amounts of crime, things she could stay under the radar for. The worst thing that could happen to a criminal was getting caught. At sixteen she left her father's home entirely and for about two years, she's been able to get by in a run-down building. Sadly for her, she took a job that turned out to be a setup and got her a** arrested. Her punishment: Slavery at the castle.
Personality: Wynter has a very short fuse, and hates taking crap from people. Though she does try to be logical, her emotions rule her personality, and always have. Other than her ugly temper, she is laid back and doesn't throw herself into situations with others if she can avoid it.

Personality: Jun is gruff and brutish. He's very bestial, like that of an animal or natural dragon. He believes in following pure instinct, and nothing else. He doesn't care about how others feel, and will squish anyone in his way without a care or a second thought. Sometimes he comes off so beasty that it's difficult to understand, because of his humanoid form. He can be very angry, and violent, especially when he doesn't get his way.
Other: He's very sexist, because he is so animal like that he treats females the way a lot of animal species function in the wild. He views them as practically servants, and as baby-makers and care-takers. He thinks women should have to put effort into "pruning their feathers" and making themselves soft and pretty, like animals do to attract a mate. He also views weak people are being completely inferior, and worthy of death, just like how weak animals get snuffed out in the wilderness. He loves eating meat. He also loves nature and natural habitat, which Reseria greatly lacks. He wants to punish the idiot fire-elves for ruining the natural forest into a desert wasteland, and bring back everything as it naturally was eons ago.

☪ World: ☪ Reseria
The Fire Nation: The Reserian Empire has been the dominant country for the last century. With their expertise in ironforging and weaponry, the other two nations stood no chance against them. By sheer strength and power, Reseria controls the majority of the world. They have even begun to expand outside of their territory, and have started to take over other country's land without contest. Aquaria and Fraeria try to obey just enough to keep Reseria from destroying them, and give in to almost every "reasonable" demand. The Fire Nation has a very pro-masculine culture that is very proud of their great meats, and great alcohol. They raise plenty of cattle for the slaughter, and have specialized wineries and pubs all across the land. Reserian land is in a dry, warm climate, which makes farming and growing crops less ideal. Lots of areas are grassy or dry sand, without many natural waterfronts, so most were man-made lakes or rivers. Every city has a militia that reports to the Castle.
Aquaria
The Water Nation:
The Aquarian Empire is the second most powerful country in the universe, and many eons ago had supposedly been the one running the world. (Until they fell to Reseria, at least.) They pride themselves in their high intelligence, and approve of studying magic and knowledge above all else. Those who do not partake in study instead turn to fishing in The Water Nation's amazing oceans and waterfronts. With the best sealife comes the most amazing mediterranean and asian foods, such as sushi. Their land is clear beaches and waterfront rainforests. It fairly mid-temperature sunny during half of the year, while the other half it rains and snows.
Fraeria
The Nature Nation:
The weakest country. They pride themselves in nature magic and crops. They're mostly tree-hugging hippies. Peace.

This is just a quick reference for character's magical abilities. In this universe only minimal magic exists, and only certain people have the ability to use their mana. Most of the population has very little magic, or none at all. Since magic is semi-rare, wielders tend to rise into a place of power.... like working at the castle for the Reserian King.
Demitrious: Fire Magic {Damage} Can conjure his fire magic at will.
Thorival: Fire Magic {Tank/Damage} Can use his fire magic to channel into his sword or shield for extra battle power.
Chii: Chimera {Shape Shift}; can turn her neko ears/tails into different animals. Can also change her hair/eye/skin pigmentation.
Zuni: Can't die, don't know why. {Tank} Quick self-healing regeneration.
