Prompt 6: There's something on the roof. It has no energy signature, so it can't possibly be a youma or any powered vigilante, but something's on the roof. It sounds like it's clopping around. If you go outside and investigate, there is a deer on the roof. A fully sized deer, staring down at you. The moment you blink, or look away, it's gone; if you investigate further you will find that there are tracks left in the snow atop the roof--but none around the house. It looks like it just showed up there--and just disappeared.
There was something to be said for magic, or more specifically, the knowledge that it existed. Once upon a time he had been subject to the revelation that 'santa' wasn't real and that as a child he had clung to a false idol, and yet now he had been introduced to the possibility that while he may not be real to adults there was a distinct possibility that he existed in some capacity. None of this would have been possible if he hadn't been a senshi of course, the revelation that he was imbued with magic himself had made it abundantly clear that everything he thought he knew was largely incorrect.
That revelation had brought a smile to his lips as the season drew nearer. He'd always liked this period of the year and enjoyed the festivities and warmth around him, but it had taken on something just a little more special now. Even as he had put up the tree, adorned it with lights and trinkets, and allowed Namielle to address his controversial card display, he couldn't help but wonder if perhaps all those childhood dreams and beliefs might be real.
He'd seen much of this city's magic and it's otherwise questionable tendencies, but when it came to the rest of the world he was sure that there existed a capacity for benevolence. His planet had magic, it was hardly nefarious, so it stood to reason that amongst the dark there happened to be light here as well. It was as he finally found time to install the external lights in the garden that it seemed the world found time in its busy schedule to reveal to him that yes, there were in fact, friendly and unusual magics in the world that weren't there to tear him apart.
He was lucky he hadn't fallen off the ladder.
No sooner had he ascended to the 'lofty' heights of the roof top than he was greeted by the otherwise curious eyes of a deer. Unsurprisingly the man had given a few blinks in surprise and once the animal's existence had registered with him he shook his head. The brief moment in which he looked away soon resulted in his visitor departing, as he settled and returned his gaze to where it had been he found nothing there and raised a brow.
He glanced down into his garden and with no sign of hoof prints there, flicked his gaze back towards the ones on the roof top. Namielle and Orias enjoyed their pranks and testing an invention here and there but this didn't seem to be their style to say the least.
A half smile crept on to his lips.
"Huh," he mused as he pulled himself on to the roof and balanced carefully. It would take him a while to locate all the hooks along the guttering for the delicate fairy lights but it would get done in thirty minutes are so.
...In the meantime, at least he could find joy in the possibility that if he had seen a deer on his roof then there was a distinct possibility that there would be some very happy, and very excited, children throughout the city.
This year, Santa might very well be real.
