Prompt 9: Small custom shops and stalls always seem to open up this time of year, and Destiny City has no shortage this yeart. Several seasonal themed shops have already recieved raving reviews, and among them is a small cafe. Outside it looks like a cute vintage cafe, but inside, the shop has been decorated so convincingly that you feel like you've just stepped into a snowy northern forest. They have an array of delicious, cold drinks, and the trip would be worthwhile for that alone--except, shortly after the first sip, anyone who has ingested the drink will find that they sneeze a flurry of tiny snowflakes. The more drinks consumed, the longer you will find you are sneezing little snowflakes. It feels like there is a tickle up your nose for an hour or longer, depending on player choice; drinking more can also lead to longer effects. There are no negative impacts--just the need to sneeze often, and a little burst of cold snowflakes along with each one. Surprisingly, the shop still doesn't have any bad reviews.

When Pendour got the letter from Camelot, of course she responded. She made her way towards the library that very night. For her, being a knight had never been about spreading love and light, whether she did that by fixing the ruins of her planet or by giving a little hope to someone trapped in the clutches of Chaos. She could spread cheer in the more traditional way during the holiday season. The senshi and knights were all working so hard in their own ways. They deserved it.

Although on her way over, she couldn't help but wonder about Camelot. He was putting all this effort into helping others, as he always did. She wondered if anyone was thanking him.

Well, that was something she could help with. She went off course a little to power down and pop into a nice cafe, one that had been getting lovely reviews on Instagram. She ordered two drinks to go, smiling as she realized that that cups were both recyclable and adorable. There were little snowflakes printed on them.

Then she was back on her way. She could tell that Camelot was in before she was even all that close to the library. The aura was hard to miss. When she arrived, she stood near the door and called upwards.

She wasn't sure if she wanted to try climbing with her hands full.

"Camelot? Hi," she said. "I got your message."

Camelot was standing atop the library roof, as he always was when he was about to begin his patrol. Tonight, however, he was going to stay around the library a little longer than usual in case anyone wanted to help him with his care package deliveries. It was a simple enough idea, he knew, but he was still excited about being able to bring a little moment of relief to someone's cold night. It was the simple things that people were often the most grateful for, and the most in need of.

He heard a voice calling up to him and felt an aura to accompany it, tilting his head and moving to the railing for the roof to peer down at the source of both. Grinning, he waved and picked up the bag he was keeping the few assembled kits he had with him tonight in. Hefting it onto his shoulder for safe keeping, he hopped off the roof and landed with a clang of metal armor nearby.

"Great!" He grinned, waving with his free hand. He put the bag down by his feet, reaching up to adjust the santa hat on his head. Maybe he got a little too into the festivities of the season, especially this year, but he couldn't help himself. Plus, the hat was keeping his head pretty warm, and went well with his cape.

"Did you want to help me hand a couple of these out, then? I see you came prepared, yourself."

The Santa hat alone was enough to bring a smile to Pendour's face. The bag, too. While Camelot wasn't quite a deadringer for the traditional depictions of Santa Claus, if Saint Nick had been a little younger and worn a little more armor, it would have been a close thing.

She waved as best she could as the royal knight came into view, although it maybe looked a little silly as she ended up just shaking a drink at him.

"Of course. I'd love to. That's why I'm here," she said. "But first, this one's your present." She stepped forwards to properly offer the cup to him. It rattled slightly. There was ice in there. "I wasn't sure what you liked, but this is the seasonal special. I read at least ten reviews that said it was delicious."

She took a sip of her own drink, eyes closing for a moment. It was a little cold for a winter special, but it tasted crisp and sweet.

"They were right," she said.

"Oh, why thank you!" Camelot laughed, taking the drink that had been shaken in greeting at him. He looked at it curiously, than nodded his head with a thankful smile. He laughed, still not as up with online things as he wanted to be. He was trying his best, of course, but every time he learned something new there seemed to be six new and hip things that everyone was into. And of course the thing he had learned was, by then, past its moment in the sun. "Ten reviews? Well it must be on to something, then."

He was had been standing on the roof for a while and was not excited for a cold drink, but he would politely drink from it in due time. First, though, he had something that made him very excited to address, scooping up the edge of the bag and holding it one handed so she could see the wrapped little boxes inside.

"They're all a little different, but they're designed to just help with the cold, and with having to be out here at night, during this time of year. Just to spread a little happiness! You can take one for yourself, and then take a couple to hand out to anyone you see on patrol. Nothing too complicated or rigid, of course! It's just meant to be a little happy exercise."

The drink, while tasty, certainly was cold as cold. It was so cold that she could feel the chill in her face, especially her sinuses, which almost itched. Was that how brain freezes worked?

Pendour sniffed and then blinked a few times, trying to work it through her system, which mostly worked. Then, she stepped forward to look into Camelot's bag.

Her smile, usually small, grew about three sizes when she saw the boxes with the glistening paper and heard the slight rustling sound that suggested there were surprises inside.

"This is such a lovely idea, Camelot," she said as she reached inside and took one of the boxes. She gave it a small shake before sending it off to subspace, something she'd recently figured out how to use. There was only enough room in there for about two of them, but she had long arms and was able to carry a few more.

"You said one's for me? Let's see."

She put the extra presents and the fancy drink down for a moment, and gently started unwrapping the paper from a red box.

Camelot chuckled, nodding his head but not noticing the strange way she reacted to her drink. Honestly, he thought it was a nice gesture, regardless of it being cold, and took a little sip of it himself. It was very cold. Strikingly cold, in fact, and he drew back in surprise. At least it tasted nice, or so he thought, but after a moment he was not even sure of that as his tongue tingled.

"I'm glad you think so. And I'm excited for the help. I don't know how santa does it, really. I can't even deliver thirty or so presents on my own, let alone presents to the whole world in one night." He laughed.

They were magical beings, but Santa took it to the next level. Despite seeing giant monsters and strange new worlds, knowing anything was possible, Camelot still couldn't believe Santa could do all that. No amount of magic could help, surely. But, he would do his best to at least play santa for the city.

Unless he caught a cold first.

Nose tingling, he turned his head and lifted is arm to politely sneeze into his elbow, pulling back to see ice like markings on his armor. Huh. It really was cold out here, but that had never happened before.

Pendour tilted her head, still sniffling slightly.

"Well, if he Santa special delivery magic that made him all agile and lightning-fast, he could probably get to a lot of people in just one night," she said. "But I would guess he has more helpers than the stories say, elves, and reindeer, and maybe even people."

Mostly people, if you looked at holidays in the most practical way. That was okay, though. That meant she could be Santa's helper every time she gave a gift.

The thought was interrupted when she the itching in her sinuses grew worse, and she turned sideways just in time to sneeze. Her face still felt oddly cold, and when she opened her eyes, she saw snowflakes in front of her.

Her thoughts turned back to a previous December, and her eyes flicked to Camelot's cup.

"Oh no," she whispered.

Camelot chuckled, willing to suspend his disbelief for Christmas' sake. He supposed there were stranger things out there, though he still had a hard time putting it all in perspective. Even with all the magic he had seen, and the other realms he had been to, it was a stretch. Or was it? Maybe he was just trained by being old to not allow himself to believe in Santa.

He looked at her when she sneezed, then looked at her cup, then at his.

"Sometimes I wonder," he said patiently, looking vaguely more put upon than angry or worried in any regard, "why we bother trying new things in this city. Or why we think something strange might not happen this time."

It did not seem too dangerous, but when he sneezed again and saw snowflakes of his own, he was sure they were going to have a strange night. He actually felt a laugh bubble out of his chest, and he shrugged helplessly.

"Well! I suppose we should keep an eye on this, but there's no reason not to continue gift giving, hm? Ah... just perhaps not any more of this drink to anyone else."

Her nose felt a little warmer now, but Pendour's face brows still knitted, and she stared down at her toes.

"I got you a cursed present," she said with a soft but drawn-out sigh. "That's no good. It's the opposite of something sweet and special for the darker months. Now we're all sick."

She sneezed again, and then sighed again, although it was hard to be too down on herself when she saw the snowflakes dancing around.

"I'll get you something better, more thoughtful, and I'll double check for magic, okay?" She managed a smile, glad that he didn't seem too upset about the whole thing.

Then, she finished unwrapping her own package, tugging a scarf free and draping it around her shoulders. "This one seems normal," she said.

"Oh, I wouldn't say cursed! Though, if you do start to feel bad, or this strange little.. snowflake... thing gets out of hand, come back to find me and we'll see if we can't take care of it. Sometimes, I find it best to just roll with the punches. Strange things are destined to happen here. I think that might be why it's called Destiny City."

Camelot chuckled at his own joke, and only sounded slightly rueful about it. Really, he was very used to the strange things that could happen, though he could never really anticipate when they might show up or what form they might take. It was all part of the job, at this point.

His strange night job.

He did look very pleased to see her in the scarf, sipping at his drink and then looking mortified when he realized what he was doing. Why was he drinking more of this thing?! It was very tasty, but he already knew it was a bad idea.

"I hope those aren't cursed, I had to buy out quite a few shops to make all these gift boxes. I think we're safe, and all we have to do is deliver them. While being extra polite about our sneezes." The last thing he wanted to do was catch someone in a sanitarily questionable snowstorm.

“Maybe not a serious curse as much as a trick,” said Pendour from behind the scarf. “Or, um, shenanigans? I’ve heard some people call it that. It’s not a nice magic, though. One of these drinks turned my friend into ice for a few hours. That was no fun at all.”

She watched, brows furrowed, as Camelot kept drinking, although she didn’t say anything. It was a tasty drink, and maybe worth a few snowflake sneezes if they didn’t lead to anything more. Her own cup, however, laid untouched where she’d left it.

Luckily, being near the library meant there were a few bins around for trash and even recycling, and Pendour tossed her loose wrapping paper before adjusting her hold on the remaining gifts.

“Well, I’ll trust you if you think these are safe,” she said, nodding down at them. “You’re probably right. I just get nervous.”

Destiny City had that effect on people.

“I think I’m all set to deliver them, now.”

Camelot blinked at the story of someone being turned to ice because of a drink. And she still brought him one? He looked at the cup again, frowning at it dubiously and deciding that maybe her decision to throw it away was the better one. Not that he did not appreciate the thought behind it all.

He chuckled, nodding his head, offering her a reassuring look.

"I assure you, they are safe. I spent more than enough time with them, so I would hope if anything strange happened I would have caught it by now. All you'll be doing is bringing people a little smile. It's not much, but it does make one feel good. Seeing you wearing that scarf, for example, makes me glad. And at least you'll be a little warmer."

He let her take a batch of the presents and grinned, adjusting his hat with his free hand.

"Alright! I'll leave you to it. Just let me know how you get on, and if you find any trouble, any grinches, I will be there to help. But try to have fun! Don't worry too much."
