The air was crisp and sharp this morning. Fall was clearly here but Willow was far form ready for it. The morning breeze told her she better hurry today to gather the willow park she would need for the colder days to come. Stretching her body she felt the aches and pains of her old mangled body. "Yep i need to get moving." she said to herself.
Hopping out of her burrow, Willow smelled that air. There was no real danger in the warren but a thousand years of survival instances are hard to ignore. Stratified Willow moves slowly form her den and makes her way into the trees that are around the warren. The more she moved the easier it became but the pain was a constant reminder that she would never move fast like the others. She had come to except that fate but form time to time she really wished it was a little easier for her. The cold days where those times.
It was not long before Willow found the willow that had saved her life. Its branches stretched miles and miles into the sky. Willow paused before the tree and looked at its ever growing branches. "You just keep getting bigger and bigger don't you." Willow talked to the tree as if it was an old friend. In some way this tree really was her friend though. "Well it is that time of year again." She continued to talk and began moving towards the base of the willow tree.
As she slowly worked her way to the tree, Willow spots a young willow tree not far form her willow tree. The young tree looks sad and poorly, as if it is on it last leg. The thought makes Willow look down at her own leg and sadness for both the young tree and her own leg feels her heart. "You poor thing. Maybe I can help you." she starts to work the short distance over to the tree and continues talking. "You see in my Warren I am a spellcaster. Maybe I can cast a spell to bring you back to life and make you strong like your mother." she send look over her shoulder to her willow tree.
Finally she reaches the young willow and sits down in front of it to catch her breath. "Well that was a lot of work." She says still breathing hard. "But I still have energy enough to try and save you." Willow smiles at the young tree. It was small but still i was taller then anyhop. the trunk was thin and bending but there was still green in it. With a deep breath Willow had hope that this little guy would make it if her spell worked.
"Ok lets see what i can do." Taking slow even breaths in and out, Willow focused her mind and stilled the world around her. She waited tell not even her own pain was a needle in her mind before she began to chant a spell she had only read about.
Quote:
Healing thoughts sent in flight.
Carried to this tree in sight.
Moon and earth below heal this injured willow.
Carried to this tree in sight.
Moon and earth below heal this injured willow.
It was not the best spell in words but she hoped the spell would work. Slowly she opened her eyes to search for a sign that her spell had worked. She really hoped so. After all the the healing this willow had done for her in her time of need it was the least she could do for the young of that same tree.
Has Willow look the poor tree o er she could see that while still sick look the small leaves looked a little greener. Or maybe her mind was tricking her. "I will check on you every day tell you feel better." She promised the young willow. She new that would mean long hard tiring walks everyday from her den to here but like she said she owed her life to this willow. The pain it had saved her from and still saved her from was worth the journey she would have to make until this little thing was better.
Looking to the sky Willow knew she need to be heading back to her den. Gathering he bag full of willow bark she bowed her head to the great willow and said fair well to the young one. Then she tried and begin her slow hobbled walk back home for the night.
