He’d gone out earlier that day to check on his shipping schedule. Gael knew that soon he’d be going out to sea again. Of course the timeline for the trip had been up in the air as the captain had been trying to add a few other stops along the way to increase profits. He’d gotten a general run down of what was going on and where they would be stopping so it gave him a rough estimate of how long he would be gone. This time it looked like it would be a few months at least. He heaved a sigh and ran his left hand through his short hair. At the top of his head he paused long enough to scratch his scalp but after that he removed his hand and tried to think of how he was going to break it to his daughter. It wasn’t like she was a little kid anymore. She was a teen so she could be left to her own devices now but he still wanted her to have someone look after her while he was gone.

“She’s not going to like the news.” He whispered to himself as he turned to head toward home.

His walk took him through the main streets since he had to leave the docks and make it through the crowds. Even if he’d of wanted to use side streets he was stuck with the crowd. Gael furrowed his brow in confusion as he took in the amount of people around. With the later hours the streets should have been clearing out. Then he caught sight of the lanterns waiting to be lit and it hit him. The festival.

That gave him a good excuse to bring Brexxa out and drag her away from her treasures as she called them. Gael could spend time with her and explain that he had to go out to sea for a bit longer than usual this time. As he settled on this plan of action he was hit with a tantalizing sweet scent. It seemed the bakers were out in full force due to the surge in people walking the streets. He wasn’t mad in the least bit either. The smell was amazing. The older matorian thought about it for a second then veered off toward one of the smells. If he had something to bribe his daughter with then she was more likely to leave her little cave of glittering things.

It took him a minute or two to find the smell that was teasing his nose above all others but when he did he was quick to gain the shop vendor’s attention. “Excuse me sir, would it be alright if I picked out a few things to go?” He asked.

The shop vendor instantly grinned at him and nodded, “Sure go right ahead! I’m still setting up but you’re welcome to it. If there is something you want but don’t see it just ask. I might have it in the back here.” The man seemed pleased to have a sale so early in the festival hours.

Gael looked over the items available and picked out a few things he thought Brexxa would like then a few things for himself. “Some of these here if you don’t mind. Oh and one of those for myself. And can we add in two of these please?”

The vendor nodded along as Gael picked out what he wanted and he made sure to get the right ones. “You got it sir. Anything more?” He asked hopefully.

“No no, I think that will be plenty for now.” He grinned.

“Alrighty, let me wrap them and put them in a bag for you. Makes it easier to carry in the crowd.” He chuckled and moved about to do as he said. Things got wrapped and tied up then placed in a bag before being handed over to Gael.

It took overall about seventeen minutes in total for him to pick everything out and the vendor to wrap them up. After he paid he thanked the man then joined the crowd once more. Another ten or so minutes of maneuvering around people and then he was on the outer rings of the crowd. With the bodies thinned out as they were he could pick up the pace and get home quicker.

“I hope she likes what I got. Would be a poor bribe if she doesn’t even like it.” He chuckled to himself as he checked into the bag he held. “
