Shikoba was notoriously known to be a bit of a quirky loner. She would work with other Elaria whenever necessary but while many made camp together in the island she found herself making a small shelter away from the rest. Some may consider it a lonely life but in all honesty the young warrior preferred the solitude of the cliffs that overlooked the beaches. It was where she could stretch her legs and rest beneath the silvery blue trees of the new island that she was quickly growing fond of. No one would come this far up usually to bother her and she could wander into the encampment as she pleased to help out whenever it suited her. Already she had gathered a collection of things from around the island to keep inside the shallow cave that she had made into a small den of sorts along the cliffs. Shells, precious stones, colorful feathers and various other trinkets were hidden inside. She had learned quickly that if she didn’t hide such things that some of the creatures on the island had sticky fingers and would make away with her prizes. Some hanaluke had already earned her ire and Shikoba made certain to chase away any that dared to approach the area she had claimed for herself.
Today, however, Shikoba was content to gather wildflowers and the like. She wanted to freshen up the little hut that she had made along the upper cliffside near her cave and thought that the colorful wildflowers around the encampment would be perfect. She wasn’t completely wasteful and also made certain to gather any useful herbs in her basket to share with the others as necessary. Shikoba was currently twisting a crimson berry in her fingers, her basket already full of herbs and fragrant flowers as she crouched down near a series of berry bushes. “These are good as well.” She murmured softly as she shifted so that she could start plucking some of the ripe berries from the bushes.

Qila had found time to sneak off and play on her own without her mother to hover over her. Normally she might have found one of the other kids to play with but today she felt like exploring and using her imagination. With a stick in hand she ran around and fought invisible foes. "Ha! Hi-yah!" She had plenty of energy to spare. When she noticed that she was a bit farther from her intended area she calmed down just enough to look around. When she found Shikoba she instantly got an idea and got quiet. Sneaking along as best as she could she tried to position herself into the berry bushes so that she could hop out and scare the Elaria.

Shikoba was a flurry of movement as she plucked the berries from the bushes. The Elaria only froze for the briefest of moments when she heard some rustling nearby and when she swore that she saw a pair of green eyes for a second the girl relaxed. If the rustling was from someone slightly smaller with such brilliant eyes then it was one of the Elidae. She didn't hold her tongue with others but when it came to younglings the Elaria had a bit of a soft spot. So if the other girl was planning on a surprise or something Shikoba would wait to see what it was. Her lips simply curved upwards into a small smile as she continued plucking berries while singing softly under her breath.
Let's just wait and see what happens next...

Thinking that she'd gone unnoticed so far she grinned and got as close as she dared to. Qila wanted to surprise the Elaria so she waited for a few more seconds before her impatience got the best of her. In the next instant she leapt out of the shrubbery with her hands raised. "Rawr!" A large grin was on her face as she watched the older girl for a reaction. "I got you!" Qila was hoping for a scream or something, maybe even tossing the berries up in surprise. It would show she'd been sneaky enough to sneak up on her.

One, two, three... Shikoba patiently waited for the youngling to pop out of the bushes. When the Elidae finally appeared the older Elaria acted dramatically by flinging up her hands and letting out a little 'oof!' of surprise. A few berries were tossed up in the air for even more of a display when in reality she had already set the basket carefully to the side on the ground where it wouldn't be disturbed by her next actions. When she let out her gasp of surprise, Shikoba placed a hand across her chest and then tumbled backwards. Shikoba had to hide her grin as she sprawled across the ground like she had fainted out of shock or something. A few shallow breaths and she was perfectly still while she laid down on the ground, her red dreads full of colorful beads and the like conveniently hiding one green eye as she peeked towards her attacker. It was a trick of her own and she hoped that the child was concerned enough to approach. Then it'll be my turn for a playful surprise. She thought mischievously. After all playing pranks on others was one of Shikoba's favorite things to do when bored save for gathering and crafting trinkets. As long as another of the older Sisters weren't around to see her what was the point in worrying about appearances?

Qila had a large grin on her face as Shikoba was startled by her and reacted just as she thought she would. A squeal of laughter followed and she clapped her hands in front of her once to show her delight. Of course when the Elaria went down and didn't move she leaned to the side to look at her. Some concern was written all over her face as she blinked. "Oh no." As expected she moved closer to Shikoba to check on her. "Its ok, I didn't really get you." Qila knew she was strong and scary but she didn't think it was enough to cause this. Slowly she reached out to shake the Elaria.

Shikoba had to suppress the laughter that threatened to bubble up from her chest. It was hard not to laugh whenever the youngling was being adorable about her 'success' in scaring the Elaria. Then just as she had hoped the little one was coming closer and then even began to shake her out of concern. Shikoba counted quietly to herself, doing her best not to make a noise, and then on the count of ten her green eyes shot open. "But I got you!" She replied with a mischievous grin before reaching out to wrap her arms around the Elidae so that she could playfully tickle her. "Golden rule of a warrior - never let your guard down." She teased lightly as her fingers finally slowed and she scooted back a bit on the ground, her smile warm despite her slight admonishment. She wasn't her mother after all and was simply teasing more than anything else.

When Shikoba suddenly spoke and reached out to grab Qila she went wide eyed and gave a squeal. The moment she was wrapped up and tickled she squirmed and giggled loudly. "No! Nooooo!" Her laughter filled the air as she tried to get free. When the tickling slowed she was sucking in breaths and trying her best to look upset at being caught. "You cheater!" Another giggle followed and when Shikoba loosened her grip just enough Qila jumped on her to wrap her arms around the Elaria's neck and hug her. "I am a fierce warrior! Rawr!"

"Cheater? Me?!" Shikoba laughed as she quoted the youngling with disbelief. "Never!" Her gaze was bright and playful and Shikoba couldn't resist laughing once more whenever she was assaulted with a hug. "Oof!" She teased lightly before wrapping her own arms around the youngling into a tight hug. Shikoba carefully stood so that she could twirl them around in a quick circle, the many accesories in her dreads chiming softly like bells with the movement. After another spin she loosened her grip and gently pried the youngling from her neck so that she could set her on the ground. "So what's the fierce warrior up to, hmm? Does she have enough energy to help finish some berries after a successful attack?" Shikoba gestured towards her basket which was only half full and nestled beneath a nearby bush full of berries. She had plucked all of the wildflowers and herbs for tea and had been thinking of making something sweeter with the berries. Shikoba thoughtfully glanced at the youngling before finally adding. "We can make some berry tarts if we collect enough."

Qila clung tighter as Shikoba got up so that she didn't slip and fall to the ground. Not that it was particularly high but it would be very difficult to get back up. When they started to twirl she squealed again, laughter leaving her with nothing but delight as her eyes closed. The sound of things chiming from the Elaria's hair made her peek at them. When the twirling slowed Qila grabbed Shikoba's hair and looked at the beads with admiration. The sound was fun and now she wanted some. Once she was set down after being pried away she grinned up at the other girl. "I always have energy!" She proclaimed proudly. Qila's eyes went to the basket then to the bushes and finally to Shikoba. "Yes! Berry Tarts!" The little girl bounced up and down several times, her hands clapping together excitedly, then she moved over to the bushes to pick more berries. "How many do we need!?"

Shikoba froze as her dreads were grabbed by the youngling. She tilted her head in confusion before smiling. "Do you like them?" She asked as she gestured towards several of the beads tied into her dreads. The Elaria had a horde of them and could potentially spare a few if the girl wanted. We'll see though. Her grin only grew as the Elidae agreed to help out. "As many as you can find!" She replied before moving so that she could start plucking some berries herself. "So little one, may I know your name?" There weren't many Elidae running about but Shikoba was often away from the rest of the encampment so it was harder for her to know everyone's names.

As she picked berries she looked at Shikoba. "I do like your hair. Its pretty and sounds nice." Since her hands were small she used the fabirc of her skirt to collect the berries in until she had enough to take to the basket. When asked what her name was she waited until she had emptied her skirt then she looked up at the Elaria. Her hands went to her hips as she struck a pose. "I'm the greatest Elidae warrior, Qila!" Her grin got bigger as she looked at Shikoba with bright eyes.

"Why thank you." Shikoba's chin tilted upwards at the praise. "I work hard for my trinkets but I suppose if you would like I could always spare a bead or two." She glanced towards the youngling with a playful grin before adding in more berries to the basket, her hands only freezing on the berries once Qila introduced herself. "Oh? The greatest, eh?" She chuckled before resuming her berry picking. "I'm truly honored to be in your presence then, Qila. I'm just plain ole Shikoba, owner of many shiny things." She shook her head, her beads chiming with the movement as she took pride in her collection of accessories. The Elaria truly had a soft spot for the Elidae and it showed in how kind she was towards the youngling. "As the greatest warrior then I'm sure you've done some impressive things already, right?" She found herself teasing lightly as she started to sort through the berries, making certain that most were ripe and ready to be washed in preparation for cooking.

"Really!?" She thought about it with that same big grin in place. After a second her grin fell and she shook her head slightly. "Aw, no. I don't want to take them away from your hair then it wouldn't sound pretty. I can ask my mom to get me my own though!" Qila might want the beads like Shikoba but she didn't seem willing to take something away from someone else. When it was brought up that she should have done a few great things by now she moved one hand to the back ot her neck and rubbed gently. With a small giggle she looked to the side. "Well.. I helped my mom plant herbs. And I know how to mend nets for fishing." She'd not gotten to do much else since her mom didn't teach her how to fight with weapons yet.

"Aww, aren't you sweet?" Shikoba felt her heart melt a little at the youngling's statement. Who knew that a youngling could be so considerate? The Elaria smiled before reaching in to tug out one of the metallic beads. "I have more at home, I promise. You can at least take this one from me to get started." It was a shiny silver bead with the tiniest etchings of swirls throughout the surface.
Shikoba chuckled at the sheepish reaction from Qila. "That's something! We all have to start somewhere, right?" She mused quietly before popping a berry into her mouth. Yep, they were perfectly ripe and would be good to work into something sweet tomorrow. Maybe a pie? The Elaria reached out to tug down a few more berries from the bushes, her fingers careful not to p***k themselves on any of the sharper branches.
