Prompt: In a village in the middle of an eerie forest, you need shelter. There are many empty houses speckled across a central village, each with its own customizable features. The houses are always made of wood and field stone. They lack all modern commodities, however there is crude indoor plumbing. There are thick glass windows, misty and difficult to see through, and thick wooden doors that are heavy and difficult to move--however all of them have barricades on the inside to keep intruders out. Most houses have several rooms and some even have multiple floors, but there is something aged and almost crumbling about each of them. They are safer than nothing, but they are cold and uninviting. You need to claim one of these homes for yourself, but with so many unknowns, it's probably best to find a group to stick with and have your back. Do you try to take on this oddity in a house, alone? Or do you manage to find people to get along with and share a house with?

“First the shadow world… and now this.” Laven paused to look around the decaying village. “For some reason, I feel like I should be surprised.” But she wasn’t. How could she be when everything about this new life she lived was all about being taken to places that shouldn’t exist? First, there was the Dark Kingdom and its castle and then the Rift beyond the massive doors and creepy hallway. Then there was the world consumed by the darkness that erupted with fire where the ground fractured and chasms formed when the large dragon appeared. Now they were in a place with unnaturally cold fog and eerie forest encircled this lifeless town. Although there were some powered signatures, Lavendulan assumed that they were transported here like they were and that most, if not all, were from Destiny City. “How are you holding up?” She looked at Wolframite, brows knitted in concern her gaze drifted down to his chest where she worried that the cold weather might be aggravating his injuries.

They had only stepped out for a moment from the Negaverse. A simple stop. For him, to sit on a bench and enjoy some nice good with Laven for the night. He was getting stir-crazy at home and insisted she take him somewhere even if it was just to get tacos. So they went for a rather simple date.
And then they suddenly were in the woods. Usually the sight of pine and bark was soothing to him, but he wasn't in any mood to be feeling soothed.
" 'm Alright. Just, might need to sit down here in a few minutes." He said, already feeling that subtle warmth in his face that meant he'd get dizzy if they kept at this pace.
"Really glad we had something to eat at least." Even if he had wanted the few they still had left on their plates to unwrap. Maybe they'd poof back in time where they wouldn't be THAT cold.
:C hopefuly.

“Ok,” Laven nodded then looped her arm through his. It wasn’t that she was scared, even though she probably should have been, but she knew Wolframite well enough to be able to read between the lines. At a glance, the two of them might look like a wussy lieutenant clinging on helplessly to a Captian in the hopes that they would save the tiny damsel in distress. Not at all the case but who was she to correct them? Either way, with all the signatures gathering in this small village it would be best that she was perceived to be the weak one so they would leave Wolframite alone. “Why don’t you sit here for a little while. I’ll scout out some of the houses and make sure they are safe.” With her Water form, the building could collapse into a pile of twigs and dust and she could walk out unscathed. Wolframite, on the other hand, would not fare so well.

"Wait!" He said, gripping her a moment. "What - if someone shows up." There were energy signatures all around them, and he still wasn't sure why they were here. Usually the Negaverse could summon them, but this wasn't just them here.
"I don't want you to get attacked." He said, thought, thinking it over, he wouldn't be much help to her if they did. His grip eased at that thought, breathing out. Even if he went with her, he'd need to sit before she could look around, and would probably keep her from scouting out fully.
"Just - be careful."

Laven removed her ear cuff and as she pressed a kiss to his brow she affixed the familiar piece of jewelry on his soft pointed ear. I won’t go far, the reply was spoken through the tether that linked their minds. “Be my eyes and ears out here, let me know if someone tries to come side after I go in.” This unfamiliar place that was shrouded in fog and mystery undoubtedly housed its own demons. Just like how they couldn’t sense the shadow hounds last year, chances are if there was probably something in the woods that they couldn't sense either.

A tired, tense anxiety filtered back to her, worried about what might happen and feeling helpless to stop it. Concerned, he sat slowly down at a place he could hopefully keep sight of the collection of cabins they both could see in the distance. "I'll keep watch." He said, though it felt like a way to placate him and keep him busy while she went and did the hard work for them. Then again, it was exactly what he needed. Something to feel useful and busy.
The fog around was thicker around the woods, and he couldn't make out anything through the trees nearest to them and nothing further onward. Still, there was this uncomfortable sense that they were being watched. That something was standing just at the furthest reaches of his own eyesight creeping under that layer of mist.
It was fortunate with his fur and his layered uniform that he wasn't being chilled, but he felt sore and wished they could have gone back to their home to lay on the couch together. He wanted out, but this was more than he wanted. It was luck he should even had mediation in his space pocket for their trip out. They should get back home soon before he would need it, but it was nice to have it on him.

Laven reluctantly left his side and approached the nearest cabin. Until recently she never had a reason to keep things hidden from Wolframite. However, she knew him well enough that if he felt her nervousness or apprehension through the link that he would insist on coming. That was a risk she was unwilling to take. For now, she had to focus on breathing calmly and after a moment’s pause, she took hold of the doorknob and gave it a rather forceful tug. To her surprise, not only the door frame, but the whole house seemed to groan in protest; it was as if she had just awakened a sleeping giant, and before the building could come tumbling down like the three little pigs straw hut, Laven quickly shifted into her water form as a precaution. Similar to the houses in the ruins around their home, this cabin too held that musky smell, and only after the dust had settled enough for her to see did she finally step inside. Well, on the plus side, there isn’t a hole in the ceiling. She jested in an attempt to lighten the mood. Laven looked around the rooms slowly, and tested each stair step carefully before putting her full weight onto them. Everything she saw, Wolframite saw, including the queen-sized bed upstairs. It’s pretty chilly in here, I can start a fire downstairs, but at least you can lay down comfortably up here. With his fear of fire it was good to know he could reap the benefits of a warm home while sleeping in a separate room.

I'm sure we can keep warm if we are together. He said with a cheeky little smile to himself, sitting where she left him. It was a strange split vision to see what she was doing in his mind's eye while also keeping watch for what felt uncomfortably still around him.
I don't know what it is about this place, but It feels like there is something in the woods. I don't know if I'm paranoid, but it's like trying to see something that's always darting out of your line of sight. He admitted to her, looking around once more. Sitting down had gotten rid of that warm feeling and the cool woods left him feeling better for now. Give it enough time and he knew he'd start getting cold regardless of the fur coat.
I wonder why were were brought to this place to these cabins. He wondered to her.

Laven smiled at his comment and would have laughed if it wasn’t for the mention of something lurking in the woods behind him. I honestly doubt you’re being paranoid.I trust your senses more than anyone else. He was, after all, basically an expert tracker with a keen sense for the hunt and better hearing than most humans. I’m coming back out. She made her way down the stairs, slowly still since her magic had just worn out. It’s old, but sturdy enough… I think. Leaning against the handrail made the wooden posts bow but they didn’t crack or break which was a good sign she supposed. There was a light peppering of dust atop of her head and shoulders which were wiped off with a sweep of her hand. “If you can get past the odor and cold, this is probably our best bet for shelter.” Laven walked over beside Wolframite and scanned the tree line; with the earring, it offered an odd sort of panoramic view of the area but aside from fog and trees nothing really seemed out of place. “Do you want to go inside and lay down for a bit? Or would you prefer to maybe go see if anyone here has an idea of what going on? I can gather wood and straighten up things in the house if you want to mingle.” She had heard voices in the house adjacent to theirs, fortunately, she could sense auras coming from the other side of the wall and knew there was nothing to really be concerned about; for now at least.

He thought it over as he stood up, leaning on Laven to steady himself slowly before they moved closer to the cabin she scouted out for them. "Might be good to see who of our allies are around. See if we can team up and share anything information about why we are all here. I think I can at least manage that much. I can't do much for getting twigs or wood right now. I have a hard enough time getting the remote off the floor when I drop it." He joked, but knew he was otherwise useless with any kind of real labor.
"You can come with if you want." He offered, but maybe she just wanted the place comfortable for him when the time came to rest. Resting was what he did the most nowadays and while this was nice to get outside, it was not what he wanted in terms of possible threats to both of them.

“Mmm…” Laven winced. “You probably have better social skills in large groups like this than I do.” One-on-one or with two others at most were fine, but large gatherings especially ones that had a mix of factions made her fidgety and uncomfortable. “Why don’t you let me worry about getting things prepped for this evening?” Carefully, she removed her cuff from his ear. “Here, put this away in your subspace pocket so we don’t waste the limited time it has. If anything happens I can come back quickly.”

"Depends. A lot of people said I have terrible social skills. But I'll try and put on a friendly face and not bite." He said, glancing at the cabin they were claiming as she removed the earring.
"You be safe and don't stray too far. If anything happens, come to me." He said, leaning in carefully to kiss her.
"I'll be back if I find anything or can't stand being away for too long." He said, gesturing to where he'd be heading.

Laven wrapped her arms around him and just breathed in his scent; it was familiar and calming. It let her know that this was in fact real and not some lucid dream which was kind of a double-edged sword; both comforting and terrifying at the same time. Wolframite once said to her that if she couldn't kill then he would. Never did she imagine that there might be a time where he couldn't. It's not so much that she wanted to be brave but more that she needed to step up. "We'll get out of here, I promise." Laven kissed the top of his head then whispered "I love you."

He kissed her back. "I love you too. Be safe. I'll be back in a bit. Not sure what time it is or when it will get dark, but the first signs I notice it, I'll head back to this cabin." He said, not sure how long talking to the others would take.
With a wave and a soft squeeze to her side, he left her and slowly walked to the sound of voices.
