After years of living in Oba, Tyiva had finally found the courage to venture back into Jahaur. The Alkidike had left the care of their family up to her lover and had packed a small travel bag before heading out. She did not plan to stay away for longer, perhaps just two months at the most if not only a couple of weeks, but she did have things to take care of. She had promised to check in with Danika and to also finally find the courage to confront her family once more.
If not for her sake but for the sake of her children who may one day want to follow the Alkidike way. How could they truly learn if their own extended family would not accept them? The thought had been burning in Tyiva’s mind for months before finally prompting her to act. So here she was once more along the edges of Chibale and about to venture forward into the place that she had been born and raised. The place that she had left in favor of the Oban sun and the warm love that she had found there. Taking a deep breath, Tyiva ventured forward and hoped that it would not be so hard to find her dear friend today.

Danika was pacing the beaches of her home. Her steps were relentless as she continued to dig her way through the sands, her toes burying themselves before kicking up more sand to escape so that they could continue along the senseless path that she was making. After all this time I had given up hope and now this happens. She was no fool. She had the feeling it was fated to be as soon as she planted the idea about a new tree into the minds of the elders. Who else would be able and willing to go so far to help their sisters in their quest to raise new cousins across the ocean?
“I suppose I am a bold fool.” She stated with another long sigh.

“Bold fool? Me?” Tyiva could not resist calling back as she heard her friend’s faint words. The Alkidike had been searching up and down Chibale for almost an hour before she had stumbled into Danika’s tracks. It had been a blind hope to follow the footprints but Tyiva’s efforts had not been in vain. Shortly enough she had spotted the white dress floating about in the wind with the all too familiar mystic wearing the unique attire. Others would wear more leathers and tribal decor but Danika preferred light dresses and skirts whenever things were peaceful and there were no upcoming battles.

Blinking in surprise, Danika felt her cheeks flush as someone approached. “Hmm?” She called out before turning slowly to see who had approached. Even though it had been at least five years since she had seen her friend, the appearance of Tyiva was familiar as her own and Danika felt no hesitation as she raced towards the other Alkidike. “Tyiva!” She called out, not caring should anyone see the mystic wrap her arms around the more petite Alkidike without caution. “You’re here!”

Laughing, Tyiva wrapped her arms tightly around Danika in a sisterly hug. “I’m glad to see you as well!” She teased lightly as she clung to her friend. “It seems your habit of walking the beach while pondering life has not changed at all.” She chuckled quietly though she was secretly thankful that was so. Else how would she have found her so quickly save for waiting at her actual home?

“Ah yes.” Danika forced a small laugh before finally pulling away from Tyiva to study her. “It seems you have been doing well in Oba. How are the children?” She asked as she peeked around Tyiva to see if perhaps a straggler or two had come along. Sadly, it seemed that her friend was alone and the mystic couldn’t resist the small pout. One day she would have to see her friend’s children again! It had been five years so she could only imagine how much they had grown since blooming.

“They’re growing up well. Strong and spirited like their mothers.” Replied Tyiva with a small smile. “I’m planning on bringing them in the future so don’t worry. I just had to address some matters alone first.” Though her expression did shift as she studied Danika some more. “It appears that you are a bit...worn? If I may say so myself. Why are you being a bold fool?”

“Ah.” Danika gave a faint nod. “I see that you’ve finally decided to face the past?” She reached out and gave her friend’s shoulder a supportive pat. “I truly wish you the best then, Tyiva.” The mystic let out a sigh as the other question made her think back to her own present matters. “Do I see that worn down, truly?” She shook her head, the golden pieces and crystals in her dreads chiming with the movement. “The tree across the ocean is doing well, thriving so much in fact that they have asked for me to go and look after it for a short while. I should be excited and yet I am nervous at the same time.”
The confession left her lips in a rush. “Obviously not all of the Elders are happy about such a fact. They do not cherish the idea of a mystic leaving home yet others think that in order to prevent what happened on Yael we should send a firm leader. Someone who knows how to inspire and keep connections between Sisters. At least to teach them for a little while and to help any children should the tree bloom.” Danika gave a small smile. “I am admittedly excited to see this new island but at the same time it is worrisome to hear all the arguing and the potentials of what could go wrong.”

“I have.” Tyiva’s expression darkened as she acknowledged her mission. “I need to try to change their minds once more….hopefully they will listen.” She did not want her children to go without their Alkidike roots after all. Teaching Xylia about the petal dance had only further pushed her to finally try once more.
Hearing Danika’s own dilemma made Tyiva blink with surprise. “You...leave Chibale?” She gasped though her surprise quickly turned into a smile. “Why not? I think you should see some of the world! You’ve done so much since becoming mystic and have never had time to truly be yourself that I think they should allow you some room to grow. Admittedly it would be to continue your duties on a different island but it would be something new.” She nodded, “Eshe is still strong and can surely continue your duties while you help them to settle near Belrea. It’s a lovely area and I’m sure you’ll like it. They have trees that never lose their leaves no matter the seasons. It does get cold in certain areas of Belrea though I do not know much about your new island...I still would imagine that there should be some differences from here.”

“I will pray to Aisha that they can open their hearts more to you.” Replied Danika sincerely, “Things are changing and more of the older Alkidikes are slowly starting to change their minds….and while others may not at least their children are more willing to accept changes.” It was depressing to think about losing a generation of their history but no one could stop time and the changes that it could bring. Which was to say the same about the new island and the blooms that the tree would bring forth. A new generation, a new era of cousins. She thought quietly as Tyiva offered her support.
“I suppose you are not wrong. Eshe can handle things and I would not be gone forever. Just long enough to help out until I am no longer needed.” Perhaps a couple of years or maybe a few more, who knew? “Plus, I am curious to see what this island looks like in comparison to Chibale.”

“Let’s hope that change has affected my family.” Replied Tyiva softly before she nudged Danika playfully. “Enough depressing talk about what could go wrong. Let’s think of the positives! You can go and see some of the world while venturing across towards the new island. If it’s close to Belrea, I would even dare you to cross over one day and see the earthling cities there.” She teased with a wink. “They’re truly magnificent.”

“Tyiva!” Danika gasped with a flush as she tugged her friend after her and further along the shore. “You shouldn’t talk like that. How could I even dare venturing into foreign lands like that? I’m too important to everyone.” She chided her friend though she could not say that she wasn’t completely not tempted by the idea. What would it be like to see one of the earthling cities for herself? Tyiva had brought so many interesting stories from overseas after all and things weren’t that dangerous between the Belreans and Alkdikes, right? Danika shook the thought aside before focusing back on Tyiva. “Your time away and in Oba has truly loosened your tongue.” She teased as they ventured further down the shore and away from any potential intruders.

“My apologies. I would never want to say something to make the Elders upset with me, especially concerning you.” Replied Tyiva though the grin that spread across her lips said otherwise. “I just don’t want you to become stuck in another spot when you could have the chance to see more. You’ve already supported so much change during this time of peace that I’m honestly proud of you, Danika.”
“If not you then I should urge you to find another with more freedom who could at least go to one of these places they call a bakery. The Belrean treats are so delicate and sweet that they melt in your mouth.” She gave a soft sigh. “Every country has their own delicacy but Belrean ones are just...amazing.”

Despite her best intentions, Danika could not hold back the small laugh. “You’re tempting me with sweets, Tyiva?” She shook her head lightly. “The desserts you managed to snag and bring back were divine indeed. It’s a shame that the timing was not so ideal.” Her expression soured as she remembered the reason that Tyiva had rushed back from Belrea and to Chibale. The Dretch. The battle had taken a lot of their strength but thankfully the Alkidike and earthlings had managed to push back those dreaded mages. It had allowed them this time of peace and Danika would never forget the sacrifices of those who had made such a victory possible.

Tyiva reached forward and gave Danika’s fingers a tight squeeze. “Don’t worry about the reason why I came back then.” She replied sternly, “Just think about the sweets I brought and the gifts. All of those will be close to you in your new island. The ocean there is so deep and sparkling as well. I’m sure you’ll love it.” Tyiva replied lightly. “Just as I’m certain that life on Chibale will go on the same as usual. Everyone will be okay here. We’ve got Eshe and the Elders but they have nothing overseas. Who is supposed to help them?”
