It was a beautiful morning. Xylia was once again up bright and early or rather almost bright. The youngling constantly woke right before dawn and seemingly had an endless supply of energy as she raced outside into the larger courtyard behind their family home. It was a great large area that she enjoyed playing in with her siblings and parents. They even had a pool and a bunch of different plants from various regions growing there. Her mother also loved practicing with her blades and Xylia loved to get up early so that she could watch. The Alkidike petal dance was so fascinating and made Xylia wish that she could one day right with such elegance. "Mama?" She called out, her voice sweetly ringing alongside the morning calls of the local birds. Was she practicing today?

Tyiva had never grown accustomed to the idea of sleeping in. When she was in Jahaur and later traveling throughout the world with Karo, the Alkidike had gotten into the habit of rising with the dawn. She had also perfected sneaking out of bed without a sound so that her lover could sleep in whenever necessary. Once again she found herself out in the courtyard listening to the early cries of the birds when a familiar noise broke her thoughts. "Again, Xylia?" Questioned Tyiva with a small smile. "Did you even sleep?" With such an abundance of energy even Tyiva could imagine her youngest staying awake through a full night playing rather than resting. Though she also had a feeling about why Xylia would be up so early. Unfortunately for her daughter, Tyiva had already finished practice and had rinsed off in the cold pool right before. She was even clothed in fresh silks while her training leathers lay in a neat pile on a nearby stone bench overlooking the pool.

"A little bit." Admitted the girl with a sheepish smile. "I wanted to watch the sunrise with you." Her gaze swept over her mother's outfit and she had to hide her disappointment. Still she did not hesitate to think of something new and quickly asked about the sunrise. While Xylia waited for an answe she darted to her mother's side and wrapped her arms around her mother's waist. "Is that okay?" Her bi-colored gaze stared up towards Tyiva pleadingly as she clung to her mother.

Tyiva let out a soft sigh as she studied her daughter. No matter how hard she tried the Alkidike simply could not be stern against their youngest. She was far too sweet and good at buttering the whole family up. Never had she done anything mean spirited nor did she purposefully go out of her way to make trouble. How could Tyiva say no to such a simple request? "Fine, but you must take a nap later. You cannot constantly run about with no sleep."

"Thank you!" Xylia squeezed her mother in a tight hug before letting go. "Are we watching from here or can we go to the cliffs?" She bit her bottom lip while trying to quell her excitement. She loved hiking in the cliffs but it was too dangerous to go alone so she always had to go with at least one of her mothers. Usually it was Tyiva since Karo was often occupied with work. It also looked like they would have plenty of time to get there before sunrise since she could still see some fading stars in the dusty sky.

Ah, of course there was a catch. Tyiva let out a quiet chuckle beneath her breath before nodding her head. "If you truly want. Just don't expect me to carry you if you get tired halfway since you're the one wanting to walk." She warned before reaching down to tighten a strap on her leather sandals. It was a good thing she had changed out of her sleeping wear already. Tyiva glanced towards her daughter and raised a brow. "You'll have to hurry though if you want to hike." Her daughter was dressed in a light tunic with soft leather leggings but she had forgotten to wear her own sandals. Tyiva was not about to let her little one destroy her feet on the rough ground outside of their home. Alkidikes perhaps were tougher in the forests of Jahaur and Chibale but Tyiva constantly protected her hybrid children. Certainly she was already training them to fight a little but she also wasn't ruthless enough to make them suffer without reason.

"I can do it!" Xylia pursed her lips in determination. She was not that much of a baby to need carried anymore! Though her defiant look quickly vanished with a deep flush as she looked down and noticed her bare feet. "I'll be right back!" She gasped before darting away, her small form disappearing into the shadows of their home before emerging a few moments later with a pair of sandals in hand. Plopping down on the ground, Xylia shivered as the cold from the stone mosaic that decorated the courtyard with its vibrant colors seeped through her leggings. Refusing to let the morning's chill deter her Xylia clenched her jaw and proceeded to tighten the straps around her ankles.

"I'm ready." She declared as she sprung back up to her now clad feet and approached her mother, a warm smile crossing her features to combat any chill in the air.

A smile crossed Tyiva's lips as she witnessed her daughter's determination. I suppose stubborn pride did not skip this generation. She teased quietly as she waited for Xylia to finish tying her sandals. Aisha knew that if Tyiva moved forward to help the girl that her aid would be met with a flurry of protests. Tyiva held out her hand when her daughter declared that she was ready to go. "Alright then. We'll have to move quickly to beat the sun."

Xylia beamed as she took her mother's hand, "Okay! It's a race!" Giggling she tugged Tyiva along as she started moving away from their courtyard and towards the familiar path that twisted up the cliffs overlooking the oasis near their home. "Watch your step." She teased her mother lightly as she navigated around loose rocks and some of the pricklier desert plants that grew in the wild area outside their home. She was determined to prove to her mother that she remembered the way and was old enough to not stumble on the natural path. If any creatures showed up then she wouldn't run away either! She wasn't a baby any longer and was fully ready to become a strong fighter like both of her mothers. Even if she was only seven which apparently to others meant she was still a child...she was getting older by the day! They'd have to eventually let her do more things on her own since she was mature enough to handle them.

"You watch your own steps." Chided Tyiva as she allowed her daughter to lead the way. Thankfully this area wasn't completely desert as it was in between Jatine and Sulburi, something which Tyiva and Karo had both agreed with. It was close enough to the capital for her lover to be there within a day but far enough away for their family to enjoy peace and quiet. Their proximity to the other area also meant that there was plenty of water and that the ocean and rivers were well within a day or two of travel. While it wasn't the lush forest that she had grown up in, Tyiva accepted the beauty of this area as a second home and was happy that their family had made a haven here.

And like Jahaur it did have a bit of wilderness to it because it was far enough away from the cities. A pair of watu scurrying across the sands away from them was proof enough of the wildlife thriving in the natural landscape surrounding their home. While the watu were cute enough, Tyiva also understood that bigger and far more dangerous creatures roamed the area which was why she refused to let her children go hiking alone in the cliffs. They were young yet so Tyiva made certain to protect them when they played in areas like these, something that the wickedly sharp dual blades hanging from her sides attested to. She may have started wearing silks and golden accessories like the richer Obans but she was still an Alkidike warrior at heart.

Xylia paused whenever the watu skirted through the sands and away from them. "So cute." She commented with a grin towards her mother before the serious expression on Tyiva's face made her blink. "Is everything okay, mama?" Xylia asked quietly, worry knotting her gut. Had her mother seen something more dangerous than watu? Her bi-colored gaze quickly scanned the path but all she saw were the pale outlines of plants and rocks, slowly becoming more and more visible with the rising sun.

Oh! The sun! Xylia gasped with realization as she glanced towards the horizon. "We're almost there!" She promised quickly. They had to see the sunset from the top of the cliffs, they just had to else it wasn't the same!

Blinking, Tyiva glanced at her daughter. "Ah, yes everything is okay." She replied with a smile. "I was just lost in my thoughts." She nodded her head towards the path, her antenna flicking with the movement, and started following Xylia up the final stretch of the path. It was a natural path carved after years of animals tracking through the area so it was not the smoothest trek. Small rocks and other plants grew along the ridges and it was only with Tyiva's recent "gardening" that the more dangerous plants and looser, sharper stones had been somewhat relocated away from the path.

Thankfully there was enough light from the rising sun to let them see exactly where they were going as they walked along. Tyiva only darted forward once when she saw Xylia falter but even then she quickly pulled back when her daughter caught herself. Soon enough they were at the peak and could see across the whole area. It was a breathtaking view with the sun's amber rays spreading across the ground and causing the waters of the oasis to shimmer and glow almost like fire.

Xylia spun on her heel once they reached the top of the cliffs. “Look!” She exclaimed happily as she gestured towards the horizon. “We made it!” It looked like they had made it just in time because the sunlight was already starting to spread across the landscape below. Xylia loved this part of the day the most. It was when everything else was waking up and the rising sun seemed to bring a new type of life and color into everything it touched. She leaned against her mother with a small smile. “It’s beautiful.”

“Mmhmm.” Tyiva settled on one of the larger rocks. Its surface was smooth and it was not its first time being used as the Alkidike’s perch. Truthfully she loved to come up here even before the children bloomed so that she could watch the sunrise. It was an ideal spot to just sit and meditate for the day. Patting the space next to her she motioned for Xylia to sit down. “I would say we have a good bit of time before the rest of the household wakes up for breakfast.” She commented lightly as her dark gaze surveyed the area.

Nodding, Xylia only flushed a little whenever her stomach grumbled at the thought of food. “I hope we have those flaky pastries again. I love the fruit fillings.” She gushed sheepishly before glancing towards her mother. “If that’s okay.” Perhaps they were a bit spoiled. What warriors got to eat luxurious meals and so many sweets? Xyila bit her bottom lip in confliction. Sweets were really good though…

“Do you think we can do this again tomorrow, mama?” She asked as a distraction from her rumbling stomach. “Could I watch you do some training too?”
