Energy gathering was certainly on his list of things that he wasn't fond of doing, though it was made more bearable in the fact that he knew how to do it without harming or killing the person, but Cuprite wasn't about to slack off on it. In fact he tended to make sure he was over the quota by at least a small amount as much as he possibly could. If he didn't then it would have a high chance of reflecting badly on Alexandre if the slack wasn't picked up and if it was indeed picked up then it was likely because Alexandre himself did it. Needless to say he wasn't about to let either option happen since he didn't want to cause trouble for his little cousin.
At the moment he was roof top hopping, feeling safe in doing so since it was evening and no other power signatures were showing up on his inner radar, and was currently looking for one last person to collect energy from before he returned for the night. So far it seemed like everyone had already turned in for the night or were just in a different area of the city so he was this close to giving up.
Jumping to the next roof top he was just about to do just that and return home when something that reflected the light from a street lamp caught his eye. The tall man skidded to a stop and looked in the direction of the light only to find a series of home made wind chimes and charms handing near by the roof access tot he building. Now normally he would have just shrugged and continued on with his plans for the rest of the night but this time, this time something pulled him in.
Without even meaning to, the Lieutenant slowly started to head towards the hanging pieces, eyes darting from chime to charm and back again until his eyes landed on one just as he reached arms length. The item in question was a bracelet that has been strung up into one of the wind chimes, silver in color, though he wasn't sure if it was actually silver or just painted to look it, with red accents that made up a swirl pattern. Right in the middle of the face of it however was a darker red symbol of a heart, one he recognized from the war.
"What in the world is a bracelet with the symbol of Ganymede doing here?" He asked no one in particular. He hesitated for a moment, mind flashing back to that day years ago when his cousin corrupted him, the day he had been offered a different bracelet with the Ganymede symbol on it. He didn't regret joining his cousin but he could also admit to himself there had always been that small amount of 'what if?' from time to time. Heart beating wildly in his chest now, Cuprite reached out and carefully pulled the bracelet free of the wind chime to cradle in his hands as he stared down at it.
Once the silver bracelet was cupped within his grasp it started to give off a small glow that pulsed, getting brighter with each flash until he had to close his sapphire colored eyes so he wouldn't be blinded by it. Just a moment after he did so though it gave one last flash and a warmth spread out from his hands up his arms, through his chest, to his head and down to his legs until the warmth was flowing through every last inch of Cuprite.
If anyone were there to witness this event they would have seen a brief flash of the Ganymede symbol appear glowing a feint but bright in hue red in the air right above Cuprite's heart was before the red bled to a dark red, almost black, and the symbol sank down into the Lieutenant's chest. As soon as it did the warmth in the man's body rose to an almost uncomfortable heat that lasted for only a few heart beats then faded away completely. With the heat gone no other magical signs, be they visual or physical in nature, could be found.
At the end of it all Cuprite was left holding the now inert bracelet along with heaving breathing and his body shaking from the experience. "The hell...?" He managed to gasp out as he opened his eyes and stared once again at the engraved bracelet. While he evened out his breathing he tried to figure out just what had happened but nothing that he had heard of from the war, be it from his General cousin or any other agent, could explain just what exactly he had experienced. He was tempted to drop the bracelet but whatever it did already happened and it seemed to be done.
Silence spread across the roof top now that he was breathing correctly but was shattered again a moment later as he turned in the direction of home. "Alex, got to get to Alex." He said under his breath while taking a shaky step forward. Thankfully the next few steps he took were noticeably more stable and by the time he was back to where he could jump to the next roof he was sure footed and stable. "Even if he doesn't know he could still help investigate to find out."
Bolstered by his own words and faith in his cousin, Cuprite jumped across then just kept going. As soon as the momentum he had going made things much easier to focus on other things, particularly the fact that he still had the bracelet in hand, he realized that one, he needed to show it to Alex to make sure it was depleted of whatever it had, and two, there was a part of him that didn't want to give it up if it was in fact safe. Even though it could have done something terrible to him for all he knew, he didn't want to get rid of it, but logically that impulse could be part of whatever it did and could be a bad idea.
Alex. He needed Alex.
