Narcissus had only a very sparse amount of time in which he could do powered activities. Between studying for the board exam and working to pay off the egregious amount of debt he'd accumulated thanks to school, he simply didn't have the hours needed to tend to senshi functions consistently. And he did need at least two or three hours at a time, if he wanted to be productive. Particularly when he didn't take the 'quick and convenient' route to draining that so many of his cohorts did.
To Narcissus, it was important to practice care and restraint with the victims he chose. He didn't want to leave anyone out in the open and vulnerable to further assault. He didn't want to leave anyone exhausted and groggy and incapable of fending for themselves. He barely wanted anyone to feel like he'd taken anything from them at all.
So he needed time: time to locate more than one person for his wraith to pass through. If he took only the bare minimum from each person, no one ended up any the worse for wear. He just needed time to locate so many victims.
And he was so tired, himself. God, he was so tired.
Narcissus lay on the roof of a clothing store that served as a central hub for the adjoining outlet mall. As it was outside and frequently populated, it was a good place to do his draining, so long as he didn't attract too much attention. The sky was already dark, and more people had started to head home for the evening, leaving just a handful of stragglers for Narcissus to utilize.
He lay on his stomach, arms folded beneath his chin as he peered down toward the sidewalk through heavy lids, an empty McCafe cup at his side. His wraith darted once through passerby before flitting back up to him to wait for the next group to walk by. It was fortunate that wraiths looked mostly like shadows and had minimal tangibility. It seemed like most people thought it was a bird, sweeping down quick and close to people as if looking for a snack and then zipping off quickly out of sight.
This suited Narcissus just fine. He could barely bring himself to do more than watch and give simple instructions.
