As much as they adored combing through books, scholar was not a particularly well-regarded profession among those that possessed the ability to do more. Needless to say that if standing was to be kept in a place like Kumoito, a fair bit of application was required. For Rieyar that was best done here in the hospital, and for the moment they busied theirself with lower levels of care. Most people that showed up to the hospital didn't need a medical ninja draining their livelihood to heal a wound.

For their part Rieyar found basic medical work to be therapeutic much in the same way that digging through the library was. It was, in a way, meditative to them. Simple and uncomplicated, at least in the situations they found themselves dealing with. How much that changed when you got to the higher tiers of responsibility, they knew not, and they cared little for it while they busied themselves with the more directly important interactions.

There wasn't much along the way of challenging work around the likes of Kumoito. Without a meaningful shinobi force, they rarely got anything too nasty here in the village itself. Most of the major conflicts had tended to draw people away from this place. The quantity of mercenaries in and around, and poor folk, always dipped a little when there was something going on out in the rest of the world. Rieyar couldn't help but feel like their medical talent might be better applied in a place where there was more to do than the day to day. Then again, maybe being forged in fire wasn't all it was cut out to be.

The medic busied themselves for the time being cleaning as the nurses handled the more common, longer stay patients. This was how the days normally went here, especially with a medical shinobi around. Those with easily treatable issues that could be solved without being pulled further than just around the corner from the waiting room would be attended to and sent back out in the world. Rieyar found they appreciated the system despite their restlessness, as it maximized the effectiveness of their abilities - that said it was slightly prohibitive to their growth in the broader medical field.

A member of the staff, nurse maybe, was doing his hardest not to look too harried by a small situation unfolding at hand. He held a fancy clipboard at his side and appeared to be examining the area more closely with each step.
Then he looked up. As just one nurse, this individual didn't have the whole affairs of the hospital on his list. Anyone out of uniform was courteously asked for whatever proof they had to be loping around key places and hovering over certain tasks. Then again. Someone out of uniform was actually just what this member of staff needed.

"Pardon," the nurse announced himself and held his head high, ready for the worst. His interest in Rieyar's appearance was a yellow-flag that could lean either which way with any possible result. "Are you one of the volunteers?" The nurse asked. He looked hopeful to follow up with a request for a few things to be carried out. "Well. I mean." he shrugged and joslted his clipboard. He knew might have sounded stupid in the presence of any nearby, catty nurse who knew better. " You're cleaning. Thank you. But for the sake of knowing I'm going to ask you anyway. You could be an antsy visitor for all I know."

With his clipboard in hand, the nurse gestured (rather vaguely) to the badge clipped on from shirt pocket over his breast. In all hopes that the conversation was actually filing out into the nurse's favor and that he had indeed found a volunteer on the record. He was already unclipping a slip of paper from his board. "Something I need done is that I have an order for lab specimens to be ran up to the fourth floor.” The details awaiting.

Reiyar's head tilted very slightly to the side as the seemingly anxious nurse introduced themselves. "Yes, I am. Do you need something?" They asked pleasantly. This was a bit out of the ordinary to be honest. Reiyar was used to being mostly anonymous basically everywhere they went, so to get picked out was a bit odd. "Sure, my work's pretty quick and I'm willing to help out in any way I can. Just point me in the right direction and I'll get it done." They said with a happy smile. It always struck Reiyar as interesting that so many people were so easily frazzled, but helping them was every bit as important as helping the people in the waiting room, so who were they to refuse a request for help?

"Ahh. Excellent, excellent." The nurse paused to place his clipboard in his arm as a makeshift table. The clipboard secondly served itself as a translucent box with a noisy metal latch on its end. A small, stack of documents with a few capped ink pens could be heard rattling around inside. With a practiced hand, he opened the box and pulled out a printed blue slip. A legible copy. "Here. Can you head up to the next floor and pick up these specimens. Nothing difficult." The blue slip described a handful of lab specimens by label, type, and where exactly they had to go. The fourth floor lab noted as Lab 44C. To be picked up from an office on the third floor.
"I also would appreciate an extra pair of eyes on something else." The nurse slightly turned away from others present in the room and lowered his voice.
"Second floor houses our pediatrics' wing and we've discovered that one patient has managed to escape the escort of a nurse. A child matching his description has been spotted on this floor earlier, by chance, but no luck thus far The first floor and second floors were secured after the nurse who lost him reported he was missing. And the only place he can go is up. That's where you come in. I'm starting to gauge he's made his way up on to the third floor."
The nurse paused to re-latch the clipboard's luggage accessory to a close before he continued.
"Male. Dark hair, tanned complexion with bright pink eyes. Roughly three feet tall. Now, uhm. If you find him it's in his best interest to avoid exciting him. "

"I really hate to put this on ya' but I need as many eyes that I can get." It was safe to assume they didn't have anyone with fancy ocular vision on staff or this rogue patient was exceptional skilled for a youngster. "Exits and stairs are secured so it's just a matter of hide and seek at this point. I'm starting to gauge that he might be up there." Chance of finding any sneaky children on the second floor was running thin. At the rate the nurse had been describing the situation, he'd been able to clearly "keep his cool" upon the seriousness of someone losing track of a minor in their care. He spoke urgently but certainty far from a squawking, panicking chicken in danger. He was confident and had been careful not to alert anyone who might not keep their heads on straight. "Be sure, at least, to show your ID badge to whoever is minding the stairs and elevators since you, know, magic and tricks and such." The nurse then hugs the clipboard to his breast and flashed a grin. "Sounds like that's everything!" Any signs of the roaming child was asked to be reported if the task was proving utterly impossible get control over.

Besides the nurse who was on the look-out there were members of the security team on the prowl. Occasional sounds of hurried footsteps clopping on the tile floor in the hall outside came with tinkling sounds of metal, static blips parried with low comments and codes through garbled voices. Upsetting a member of the fidgety security team would best be low on Rieyar's list. If only the security team wasn't in charge of scrutinizing the means of passage from floor to floor.

Outside this immediate space, the nearest elevator in operation was anticipating to take on two more nurses, a patient, and a bed. A cumbersome but awkwardly doable means of going to the next floor. A security guard was practically brushing off the two nurses as legitimate so-n'-so's who weren't out of place. The nearby stairs? Another security guard was minding like a hawk for any signs of any small, unattended wanderers or suspicious somebodies.

ooc: Pick your path!
(alternatively, you could always wait to catch the next elevator but that's up to you)

Rieyar pleasantly nodded along with the nurse as he spoke. The note was examined and then thoughtlessly assimilated into their form. Luckily the lanky child could multitask, and a moment later a quartet of butterflies flitted off into different staircases, as well as the near elevator, and began making their way up. Between them they would float about doing the leg work in place of the medic, covering more ground and hopefully arousing less immediate alarm - thus allowing the small one's location to be pinpointed. "I will find them shortly and return with the samples." Rieyar was a bit blunt in word choice, but their voice was soft and kind sounding. They smiled kindly and bowed gently before heading off towards the stairs. With any luck the butterflies would find the child and relay their information as the young medic proceeded upwards. They stopped at the stairs momentarily, patting around for their ID for a much longer time than one would normally expect. Normally they would have simply assimilated this information, as they did with most other items of the sort, but the security team had frowned on this the first time and Rieyar had been scolded for not carrying the actual piece of plastic. Normally a waste of time, sure, but for the moment it allowed the butterflies time to float around the third floor. Rieyar stopped on that floor's landing momentarily, waiting to see if the paper beings fed back any information on the smaller child's whereabouts. If none was returned they would simply continue to collect their specimens and deal with the hooligan on their way back down.

All that the Mousketeer could think about, was the young Samurai who took his own life on the battlefield. It manifested in his dreams as something much worse: the dying breaths of his allies on the field, pools of blood soaking the snow and grass beneath their feet, and his dear friend Sato's face being the one behind the helmet every time he removed it.
Replaying over and over in his unconscious state, Cashew was tormented by these images, until finally, an intense burning sensation down the length of his back awakened him.

His eyes snapped open, the unfamiliar feeling of his hat and cloak no longer on his person caused confusion to stir. W-what happened...? Looking around, it became clear to him that he was in a very strange place. Laying in a bed with bandages wrapped around his entire torso section. He could abrely move, and when he tried, it only intensified the pain he felt along his back. The room possessed an odor that was disturbing, but not in the way of stench... chemicals perhaps? He laid still, staring wide-eyed into the ceiling above him. Feeling his heart pound into his chest, flooding his ears, and drowning out the sound of the beeping machine nearby, replicating its steadily increasing rhythm.
