Ikaika Post 1/7 It was hard to be the only kahikinian in the little village he had found, not that he didn't have friends here, Skeena was around, but he couldn't hang out with her always, she had two brothers to keep track of after all. It was festival season, and it was his favorite so far, course it was the first one since he had come here but it signified the importance of harvest and if there was one thing the menehune knew it was gathering and harvest, he was delighted at the themes and the work that people put into these events. He spotted a tall figure looking at various cloth for sale, moakai, so perhaps that was the reason he was spending so much time under the shadecloth, the sun must have been difficult to get used to. So he wasn't the only one here! He siddled closer, trying not to be too excited. He placed himself beside the other male, making a show of looking at cloth as well.

Kaiko Post 1 Well he supposed that answered his question if there were any other kahikinians in town, looked like there was at least one menehune and Kaiko immediately found himself wondering about the other male, what was his story? What had brought him here? He automatically lost interest in the fine clothes on display. "Well hello, fancy yourself a new tunic?" Did he really just say that? He was so awkward. He was from a super pompous family but knew that it was miscontrued. It left him at a loss on how to communicate effectively in such a circumstance as this.

Ikaika Post 2
He was immensely pleased when his obvious ploy garnered the attention he desired from the deep sea boy. By his calculations they were of about equal age. Ikaika had never seen anyone quite like him with muted royal blue tones which only served to make his eyes pop orange red fire like his soul was lit from within. Ikaika was enchanted, truth be told he missed home but he did really like Matori too.
His impression of this boy was that he was quite stoic and quiet, but he had noted to the spark in the males eyes as he had noticed him. Maybe he wasn't the only lonely wayward soul.
"Well, this one is getting a little ratty, I think its all the sun." And just like that they were off and talking.

He had to admit that he thought Ikaika's clothes looked like they needed replaced too.
"Um er, that one there would bring out your eyes. He fished some fabric out of a pile and held it up against Ikaika's chest, measuring the presented palette with extremely sensitive eyes.
"Yes this would suit you quite well, and its brightish, like matori green." He was getting an extremely strange sensation, like you get when you realize you have found your best friend but it was way too early to tell that, so why did he feel this way?
The other boy was tall like him and from the size of his feet would get taller.
"You might want to keep some extra of this fabric for uh, later. I've never seen anything so fine." He was talkiing about the fabric..yes.

He looked down at his worn clothes and back at the fabric, yep the new favric was fun. It might be nice to look good for once and he did have the coin for it. Being at an immediate advantage for gathering he made a tidy living selling gathered goods.
"You are absolutely right, I do need a change and I don't know if I will find that fabric again, as well as that dark royal blue."
He gazed into the other boys eyes, ot felt so good to connect so easily, he was used to being the awkward one out.

He was immensely pleased with himself. His recommendations were taken and added too with the second fabric, well at least the boy wouldnt be all raggedy anymore. He flicked out the order with practiced ease. Coming from nobility had its perks after all, as well as its detriments.
He got some teal moss green fabric as well. It was reminiscent of his favorite place in the mangroves. He stayed more to the shallows because his family would not think him brave enough to travel much further than that.
The fabric was silky and delightful. He could already see it formed and drying in the wind outside of his mini cove.

Ikaika only lost sight of the other boy for a moment when he turned to pay when it was his turn, the other lad had gone first, and when he was finished he looked around and the other boy was already leaving. "Hey!" He shouted then floundered for what to say next.
"I er.. There are not many of us around would you er like a tour of town?"

Kaiko paused at the shout, he was internally amused at the expressions that crossed the menehune's face. He was right he wasn't the only lonely one here but he had wanted to give the boy a chance to choose yes or no.
"I would like that." he said graciously, well aware that he sounded older than he looked but that couldn't be helped when you had parents like he had had.
"My name is Kaiko Ekewaka." He murmered regally.

"My name is Ikaika. Nice to meet you." That sounded natural right? Not too eager. "As you can see this is one of the markets, there is one more but its smaller and has fewer stalls. This one caters to those who want things of the sea and other places as it has good access to the port area. The other snaller market deals with artisan crafts more so and stuff gathered from the forest."
He was making himself out to be a pretty good tour guide.

Kaiko nodded, shopping was very important. Especially during what seemed like a harvest festival. "There is a festival on right now right? Or do they do extra stuff everyday that they have a market?"
For example it looked like there was a game that if you picked the right snaptrotter toy you could win a menk fish. It looked fun, he liked fiah and each of these looked a little different. They were a fresh water species if he was not mistaken.
"Have you played that game before?" He flailed and arm in the direction of the menk.

He peered in the direction Kaiko pointed. "Um no, I have not, this is my first Matori harvest festival, I only came a few moons ago as well. But it does look fun doesnt it?" He looked back at the boy, do you want to try?" He hefted his shopping bag to loop over his shoulder.
Now that it had been pointed out he himself wanted to try it.

Kaiko was ready to forget his past and just enjoy his extended vacation from home, he knew he would go back one day but to him it was important to go back as a man who could make his own decisions. He didnt want to be a pawn in his parents grand scheme to get what they wanted.
"Yes I very much would like to try it." He wanted one of those fish very bad. They were so cute and fish reminded him of home. Maybe he could train it to swim with him.

They waited in line for their turn. Ikaika came up first and spared no time in picking a special snaptrotter carving from the pool of slowly moving water. It just drew his hand and he picked it up to see the picture of a black and blue menk.
"Congratulations!" The leaf lady who was running the attraction said before she produced a small fish in a smallish jar that looked like the one in the photo. "Take good care of them they are wild caught, I named this one Xedri but you don't have to keep his name as that." she smiled willingly.
She seemed like a legitimately sweet lady and the fish was in extremely good health.

His turn huh? He watched the swirling waters for a while, thinking, considering. He reached oit to the block of wood that called to him thr most. A light goldish colored one near the front of the pool.
It too had a menk picture on thr bottom but this was a solid red color.
"Congratulations! You won Stompy!" "Stompy?" "Well he is always grouchy and I can just picture him stomping his little feet..well if he had any, he reminds me of my little sister you see?"
Kaiko smiled. He was going to like this fish. His first pet woo!
