Name: Koren Frei Shaw
Gender: Male
Stage: Toddler
Race: Lycanthrope (timber wolf)
Item: Water Lantern
Height: 3' 2"
Weight: Underweight; lighter than he looks
Sexuality/Status: Too young!
Known Self:- Distant, outwardly emotionless most of the time
- Mute, and generally quiet overall
- Follower; helpful without complaint
- Difficult, if not impossible, to read
- Good listener
- Frightened of vehicles
Hidden Self:- Mute by choice, not by inability
- Thinks everything hatches from an egg
- Scarred around his ankles, but worse around his wrists, from trying to bite through restraints while in were form
Virtues:-
Loyal: The last thing Koren would ever consider would be to backstab those he has grown fond of, even if those same individuals have not proven to hold themselves to these same ideals. Once a friend, always a friend. While it can be similarly detrimental to him to trust another so completely, it can also leave little doubt of trust when in a pinch. This doesn't mean a person can't
hurt Koren, physically or emotionally, but he'd give any reason in the book to himself as a reason someone might opt to tear his heart out. He's not totally immune to breaking things off, but it would take a
lot to convince him.
-
Selfless: Words can only go so far, but actions cast little confusion. He'd give his everything for a friend; the price would matter very little if something were possible. Pain and injury heal over time, so they are easy enough to disregard if he can be of better use in some other way.
-
Creative: While Koren may not be the most artistic kid around, he still enjoys arts and crafts projects. Doodling, coloring, making noise on anything that could potentially be construed as a musical instrument -- these are all things Koren can easily find enjoyment out of. Letting his imagination run away with him can be one of his most favored pasttimes!
-
Calm: An easygoing demeanor and penchant for letting troubles fall off like rainwater, Koren seems to outwardly display a chill air about him. He is not one to overreact to things, to get angry or upset or fall victim to jumping to conclusions. This, however, does not necessarily mean he is level-headed either, especially if circumstance puts friends in a tight spot. A torrid of emotion may very well be storming behind those blank eyes, but it is not something most people are going to experience first hand from the boy.
-
Patient: In fact, Koren has a
ridiculous amount of patience at his disposal. This stems from his habit of getting his head lost in the clouds, making it easy to stay put or wait something out for long bouts of time.
Flaws:-
Emotionally Stunted: Koren does not understand the emotions that others may display at the forefront, and therefore may be prone to disregarding or misinterpreting another person's intents or meanings. Compacted by the fact he does not like to show weakness in public if he can help it, Koren has trouble relating to others in a more meaningful way.
-
Acts Before Thinking: With a disregard for personal safety, it's easy for the kid to get wrapped up in a situation or person he feels especially compelled by. He does not tend to think of himself as another person, but more of a means for others to be helped by. He does not think of what something may do to him before acting on it if it might benefit another.
-
Frail: Due to rather poor living conditions throughout his childhood and subpar upbringing, Koren was left in a rather sickly state. With a poor immune system and a weak means of training his body in a healthy manner, the boy can withstand far less than most others in his age group.
-
Low Self-Worth: He tends to view himself as less-than when in the presence of others, as it is the way he tends to be treated at home. All he feels he needs is a means to survive -- if he can still be useful to someone, then he's not a total waste of space.
-
Easily Manipulated: With Koren's helpful and trusting nature, it is only a matter of time before good intentions backfire. However, when one is also so adverse to thinking about how a situation may affect him personally, he tends to be asking for it from those with more ill intent. Things may be more clear-cut when logic plays such a big part, but it all comes crashing down when gripping at past trust so tightly.
Hobbies: -
Daydreaming: This little werewolf does not really understand what it means to be bored. Even when one has nothing, there is still plenty he can do, even if it is just to imagine how a fantastical scenario could play out. Doodling pictures with crayons may be a good way to spend one's time, but so can watching others, or listening to the faintest of background noise. When Koren gets focused on something, whether on paper or in his mind, the world can seem to fade away.
-
Musical Inclination: Music of all types tend to keep Koren relatively at peace. He has an appreciation of the art, and hopes to one day be able to do the same for others. At the moment, however, he's a little on the tone deaf side. Practice should make perfect eventually!
-
Artistry: Perhaps not the best at it, even for his age group, but Koren still enjoys getting lost in various types of art projects. To be honest, he doesn't care if it's any good, as long as one has fun making it. Perhaps even using it as an effective outlet is all it really needs to do -- expression is expression, and it might be the only productive way the boy can do so at present.
History: Adopted from the Sanctuary as a toddler by Malte and Bianca Shaw, Koren quickly grew attached to the couple in the short months they were together as a family. They had an older biological teenage son, Levin, who wasn't quite as fond of the mixed family dynamics as the rest, though that hardly seemed strange. Metas and humans lived rather different lives, and there was a sharp stigma between the two, but the parents had tried to raise Levin to be more accepting, give others a chance and not fall into the pitfalls of stereotyping and bigotry.
Then came the day the couple died. A car wreck. Levin had been at school at the time, leaving Koren as the sole survivor of the incident. In fact, the toddler had nary a scratch on him. This only led to more negativity cast on him, the bane of bad luck and a reminder of a past that could not be erased. While Levin took over guardianship of the tiny werewolf, the transition was anything but smooth, for it was merely out of obligation to his parents than it was out of any sense of love. At present, Koren isn't really anything more than a burden, and thus will mostly keep to himself in order to lessen the strain his presence may cause.
Current Location: Sanctuary, at school; lives in Belosh
Current Status: Lethargic; was up too early!
